The Eldest Lady always wants to have a double O Relationship with her old enemy - Chapter 40
After finishing the call, Shen Jianxi and Tang Yanzhao rushed to the scene.
This was the busiest area of Ao City, also the place most saturated with indulgence and decadence.
When they arrived, a crowd had already gathered, but no one stepped forward to intervene. They watched as Jiang Lan was knocked to her knees by a punch, blood covering her body, yet her eyes remained fierce and unyielding. She tried to stand, but the man in front of her kicked her shoulder as if she were trash. Her knees hit the ground with a dull thud.
The air was thick with pheromones. Nearby, Ye Tao and Fang Xing were already unable to stand on their own, their cheeks flushed red, clearly on the verge of heat.
“Jiang Lan,” Ye Tao called out.
Jiang Lan’s bones ached terribly. She didn’t even notice how much pheromone she had released.
The man in front of her, stimulated by Jiang Lan’s high-level pheromones, felt a throbbing pain in his glands. Veins stood out on his sun, and suddenly he produced a finger-length knife, the tip glinting coldly in the white light.
He gritted his teeth and spat: “Daring to use pheromones to suppress me?”
He aimed for Jiang Lan’s nape glands and plunged the knife without hesitation.
If it hit precisely, Jiang Lan’s gland could have been ruined—it was the most vulnerable part of their bodies.
Even knowing the danger, Jiang Lan was in too much pain to stop him. A drop of blood fell from her chin, painting the ground crimson.
She closed her eyes, expecting the sharp pain, but it never came. Instead, she felt a familiar fragrance envelop her back, followed by a muffled grunt.
Jiang Lan froze for two seconds, then realized and turned her head to see Fang Xing holding her.
Fang Xing had taken the knife with her body, and the blood ran down her fair skin, mixing with Jiang Lan’s blood.
“Fang Xing!”
Fang Xing’s jaw trembled. She tried to speak, but the pain overwhelmed her consciousness, and she fainted.
The man withdrew his hand, leaving the knife embedded in Fang Xing’s nape.
Seeing this, Tang Yanzhao restrained Shen Jianxi, preventing her from rushing forward recklessly.
Hearing the movement, the man turned, a mocking expression on his face. He casually took a cloth from his subordinate and wiped his hands, smirking: “So, you’ve come?”
“I didn’t believe it when they said they knew you, but I guess it’s true. After all these years running away, returning must feel easier, right?”
His tone was full of disdain.
Tang Yanzhao ignored his words and said coldly, “How do you plan to let them go?”
She knew reasoning with these people was useless. It would be faster and more direct to negotiate through interests. After all, among their group, the only two alphas were either severely injured or unconscious, while his men were more than enough in number. A head-on confrontation was impossible.
The man snorted and tossed the bloodied cloth aside, saying, “This one came to gamble without money—almost paid the price.” Then he gestured toward Tang Yanzhao: “Should I detain her as well?”
Jiang Lan, leaning against the wall, wiped the blood from her lips: “He’s lying! He released pheromones to provoke Taozi’s heat!”
Tang Yanzhao’s gaze stayed fixed on him. “What do you intend to do?”
The man stepped closer, invading her space, his own pheromones overwhelming the air.
Shen Jianxi, smelling his scent, frowned and slapped the side of his face.
Tang Yanzhao immediately pulled Shen Jianxi behind her, her eyes wary. The man held his cheek and rubbed it, his playful smirk replaced by anger.
“Damn it! You’re looking for trouble!”
Tang Yanzhao quickly grabbed his hand and flipped him over with force. He staggered, feeling tearing pain in his arm joints.
Repeatedly provoked, the man’s temper flared. “Tang Yanzhao, your people clearly don’t want to negotiate. Don’t blame me for taking advantage of numbers.”
Shen Jianxi instantly regretted acting impulsively. It was instinct, but seeing the situation unfold, she realized that if she hadn’t acted rashly, with Zhaozhao’s talent, winning would have been easy. Now she had ruined everything.
“Zhaozhao,” Shen Jianxi whispered.
Tang Yanzhao turned, giving her a reassuring smile and shook her head slightly: “It’s okay.”
A hint of pomelo-rum fragrance emanated from Tang Yanzhao’s nape, calming Shen Jianxi and countering the mix of pheromones and other smells.
Though she was only an Omega, Shen Jianxi felt unusually at ease. Memories of a past kidnapping overlapped in her mind.
Tang Yanzhao held her protectively, covering her eyes with her hand.
“Ji Chen, this is Hua Yan’s territory. Don’t you worry about her getting mad?” Tang Yanzhao’s back was struck, and sweat formed on her forehead.
Ji Chen paused while rubbing his wrist: “Mad? Hah! No matter how powerful she is, she’s still a bastard of the Ji family. This is our property. If father knew, would he side with me or with you, a useless thing?”
“Really?” A soft voice floated from the doorway. All eyes were drawn automatically.
“Ji Hua Yan!” Ji Chen growled.
Hua Yan hissed, “I said, call me Hua Yan outside. Why can’t you learn?”
She slowly walked in front of Ji Chen, snapping a picture of his face with her phone. “Hmm? I’m talking to you.”
Ji Chen gritted his teeth: “Hua Yan.”
“And then?”
He lowered his head, throat sliding: “I… I’m sorry.”
Hua Yan clicked her tongue. “Talking in your sleep? So small a voice, who hears it?”
Ji Chen, furious, shouted: “I’m sorry! I was wrong!”
Hua Yan sneered. She relied on her high-level pheromones and strong control to subtly suppress him. His back broke into a thin layer of sweat, his limbs stiffened, and he fell helplessly, a spectacle for all.
Hua Yan was now the most powerful child in the Ji family. Ji Chen believed this was temporary, that someday he would crush Hua Yan beneath him. But that dream would never come true—Hua Yan had only grown stronger year by year.
“Back then, when Tang Yanzhao escaped, you were punished and confined, whipped fifty times. Didn’t you hate her?” Ji Chen tried to provoke, but it was clumsy.
Hua Yan smiled faintly: “Don’t you know I liked her?”
“What?”
“Meaning, get him out of here. No entry without permission.”
“Yes.”
Ji Chen and his men were thrown out like dogs, literally.
Hua Yan approached Tang Yanzhao. “He didn’t hurt you, right?”
Though nothing serious had happened, she needed to ask after the cleanup.
Tang Yanzhao’s ink-black eyes fixed on her. “What did Ji Chen mean?”
“He always lies. Did you believe him?” Hua Yan patted her shoulder. “Since you’re here, shall we have some fun?”
Tang Yanzhao shook her head. “No, to the hospital.”
“No need. I’ve arranged doctors at the hotel. Just go back.”
Not only was the hotel’s medical equipment sufficient, Hua Yan had also called in renowned doctors from other hospitals.
Jiang Lan’s injuries were frightening but not critical; Fang Xing’s were slightly worse. The knife had pierced her nape but missed the gland. She would need time to recuperate.
Hearing this, Shen Jianxi finally exhaled. She sat slumped, still in shock. Tang Yanzhao brought her warm water. Shen Jianxi managed a faint smile and sipped it without speaking further.
Sitting across, Tang Yanzhao asked: “Were you scared?”
Shen Jianxi nodded, emotions rising, tears welling in her cat-like eyes. She could only murmur, “Mm.”
Tang Yanzhao, ever perceptive, held her close. “It’s okay, it’s over now.”
Overcome with emotion, Shen Jianxi buried herself in her arms.
“I’m sorry, Zhaozhao.”
“No need. It’s not your fault.” Tang Yanzhao whispered.
Shen Jianxi continued: “If I hadn’t hit him, you wouldn’t have been hurt… it’s my fault. If I hadn’t acted impulsively…”
Tang Yanzhao gently pulled her out, wiping her tears. “It’s not your fault, Jianxi. Even if you hadn’t hit him, he wouldn’t have let me go easily.”
“But if you played, using your talent, we could have won.”
“Even if we had, Ji Chen would have been furious.”
“But we could have held out until Hua Yan arrived, and you wouldn’t have been hurt.”
Tang Yanzhao sighed. “Alright, stop crying. Your eyes will swell and you’ll look ugly.”
“You’ll still like me if I’m ugly?” Shen Jianxi murmured.
Tang Yanzhao, hearing this, hesitated, “Hmm?”
Shen Jianxi snuggled into her arms, crying silently until exhausted and falling asleep.
Carefully, Tang Yanzhao tucked her in, placing a warm towel over her eyes, and observed until she was peacefully asleep.
Her clothes were soaked with tears and warm water. She had no choice but to change.
As she prepared a fresh towel, her phone lit up—it was her own.
She answered and followed the directions to a designated room, entering the code and passing smoothly through.
Though not a top suite, the room was impressive. In front of the large panoramic window, a figure in a nightdress stood motionless, watching the fish outside.
Tang Yanzhao walked to her side.
Hua Yan tilted her wine glass toward her. “Drink?”
“No.”
Hua Yan placed the glass on the round table, poured water, and sat on the sofa, crossing her long, pale legs. She adjusted her skirt to block her view and said lightly, “Ask whatever you want.”
Tang Yanzhao sat across. “Back then, what did you go through?”
“He lied. Did you believe him?”
Tang Yanzhao’s expression hardened. “You didn’t call me here just to pacify me, right?”
Hua Yan shook her head. “Young and serious, no sense of humor at all.”
“That man’s controlling nature—you and I both know. No matter the feelings, he demands obedience from those involved.”
He was Ji Zhong’an, the true ruler of the Ji family, Tang Yanzhao and Hua Yan’s father. When Tang Xuan escaped with Tang Yanzhao, he was furious that his toy had gained autonomy. Hua Yan had secretly interfered, leading him to personally punish her with fifty lashes, including electric shocks, leaving her bedridden for three months.
Tang Yanzhao asked, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Hua Yan shrugged. “You barely escaped. What good would knowing do?”
“And you?”
“I’m fine. Didn’t you see Ji Chen bowing to me?”
She had endured unimaginable hardships to reach her current position.
“Zhaozhao,” Hua Yan said seriously, “Your sister is clever, outstanding, and beautiful. She deserves applause in the sunlight. Once out, don’t come back.”
“Actually, you can. The Shen family can protect you, and Jianxi likes you—you two are perfect together.”
“Don’t say that. We’re just friends.” Tang Yanzhao frowned.
Hua Yan sighed. “You’re still denying it. You like her. It’s obvious even in your eyes. You’re just hiding it from yourself.”
