The Eldest Lady always wants to have a double O Relationship with her old enemy - Chapter 4
Two people, Shen Jianxi and Tang Yanzhao, have their injuries treated. Just as they are about to leave, a curtain is suddenly pulled back, revealing a girl in sportswear.
“Xixi? What are you doing here?”
“Jiang Lan?”
The Jiang and Shen families are old family friends, and the two girls are naturally childhood friends. Jiang Lan is also an A-grade alpha. Their families have always tried to set them up, but it was all just playful teasing during family gatherings.
While both families are wealthy, they are not obsessed with arranged marriages and have given their children the freedom to choose who they love.
The matter was dropped after the girls repeatedly explained they were just friends and had no romantic feelings for each other.
Jiang Lan rushes in, “You’re here! Help me put on some medicine.”
Shen Jianxi sees a long scratch on Jiang Lan’s right palm and inner forearm. She frowns and asks, “What happened?”
“The sophomores were fighting for the training ground and we had a friendly match. Those guys didn’t play fair. When they couldn’t win, they cheated. Luckily, I dodged in time and only fell.”
It seems Jiang Lan’s academic skills were all poured into her athletic talent. She’s been very active since she was a child. Her family even took her to the hospital for a diagnosis, and she was found to be perfectly healthy; she just has a case of pure, spiritual hyperactivity.
Tang Yanzhao sees Shen Jianxi’s friend enter, making the narrow space even more cramped. Shen Jianxi gets up to make way, and Tang Yanzhao immediately stands up, takes her books, and stands to the side.
“I’ll be going now.”
With that, Tang Yanzhao leaves without looking back.
Shen Jianxi, held back by Jiang Lan, can only manage to say “Hey” to try and stop her.
The rough-and-tumble Jiang Lan doesn’t notice the awkwardness between them. She flicks a black stone embedded in her wound.
“Hurry, hurry, help me with this.”
Shen Jianxi’s face is filled with annoyance at the interruption. “Where’s the doctor?”
“The guy who cheated broke his own bone. All the doctors are over there helping him.”
“…”
Shen Jianxi can only watch Tang Yanzhao’s retreating back disappear from her sight. With a sullen expression, she tends to Jiang Lan’s wound, but her movements are anything but gentle.
“Ah, Xixi, can’t you be a little softer?”
Shen Jianxi offers a tight-lipped, fake smile. “No.”
Jiang Lan’s fingers tremble uncontrollably from the pain. She lowers her voice and asks, “Why do I feel like you’re angry?”
Shen Jianxi rolls her eyes at her, not bothering to reply.
Jiang Lan is puzzled, but a thought suddenly occurs to her as she thinks about Tang Yanzhao. She slaps her forehead, as if a light bulb has just gone on. “Wasn’t that person who just left that Tang something who’s here to take your family fortune?”
Her words are immediately followed by a wail from Jiang Lan.
Shen Jianxi practically has “I’m mad” written on her face. “She’s not.”
“Okay, okay, she’s not. Are you trying to kill me?”
Shen Jianxi continues to treat her wound. The carefree Jiang Lan decides to shut up, afraid of accidentally stepping on another landmine and suffering the consequences.
Neither of them notices the figure leaning against the doorway, who then gets up and leaves.
It’s noon, and Shen Jianxi and Jiang Lan, having had their injuries treated, arrive at the cafeteria. Following Ye Tao’s directions on the phone, they find her on the second floor.
“Over here!”
Ye Tao excitedly waves to the two of them.
“Taozi,” Jiang Lan walks over quickly and, out of habit, pinches Ye Tao’s cheek.
Ye Tao glares at her playfully, pushing her hand away. “Get your paws off me, don’t pinch me.”
Jiang Lan doesn’t seem to take the warning seriously. She raises an eyebrow and then looks at the lunches on the table. She exclaims, “Little Taozi, you’re the best! How did you know I wanted the clay pot rice from the second floor?”
Jiang Lan trains with the sports team every day and always gets to the cafeteria late. She only got out early today because of the accident. Unfortunately, the clay pot rice on the second floor is so popular that Jiang Lan rarely ever gets to see it, let alone eat it.
On the way here, she had been complaining to Shen Jianxi about the school’s “hunger marketing,” so the surprise was a pleasant one.
Ye Tao scoffs. “Don’t flatter yourself. This is a welcome-back gift I prepared for our Xixi. You’re just a freeloader.”
Jiang Lan doesn’t mind at all and sits down immediately. “Freeloader or not, it doesn’t matter. As long as there’s food.”
She stirs the rice with her spoon, takes a bite, and sighs contentedly. She points excitedly and says, “This is the flavor!”
Ye Tao is speechless. Despite coming from a wealthy family, Jiang Lan acts like a country bumpkin, devouring the clay pot rice without any grace.
It’s an embarrassing sight.
“Taozi,” Shen Jianxi arrives late.
Ye Tao pulls Shen Jianxi to sit next to her and asks with a mouthful of food, “Xixi, where did you go? You dropped your bag and disappeared.”
“Tang Yanzhao ran into some trouble, so I went to help her.”
Ye Tao’s eyes widen suspiciously. “Tang Yanzhao? What happened to her?”
“Yang Yuhan publicly released her pheromones to try and induce her heat, and even physically attacked her.” Shen Jianxi’s words are filled with disgust.
Ignoring the ravenous Jiang Lan, Ye Tao simply responds with a flat “Oh.” Shen Jianxi’s eyebrows furrow. “What kind of reaction is that?”
Ye Tao then pulls out her phone. “Someone in the gossip group shared a post from the school forum about this, but it’s not getting much traction, and it sounds a little different from what you’re saying.”
Shen Jianxi takes her phone and sees the title: #High school sophomore transfer student Tang Yanzhao publicly releases pheromones to try and induce an alpha’s heat#.
The post claims that in order to climb the social ladder, Tang Yanzhao brazenly used her omega pheromones to seduce an alpha. But the alpha held his ground and pushed her away, causing Tang Yanzhao to fall and get hurt.
An blurry picture of Tang Yanzhao’s back is attached, cropping out Shen Jianxi walking next to her.
The post doesn’t reveal who the alpha is, but these keyboard warriors don’t care. Tang Yanzhao’s face is enough for them to judge her.
The thread already has over 300 comments and is still growing. Almost everyone believes the post’s contents.
[I knew Tang Yanzhao was no good. Shameless b*tch, acting all high and mighty.]
[She pretends to be innocent, but who knows what she’s really like in private.]
[Doesn’t everyone know Tang Yanzhao came to Rongqing to find a sugar daddy?]
[She has a pretty face, but her clothes are all 9.9 yuan from some online store.]
[Raise your hand if you don’t know who Tang Yanzhao is?]
[Reply to the person above: The new transfer student in Class 1, Sophomore year.]
[Wow, Tang Yanzhao is going to be famous.]
[Why do I feel so satisfied that a person I hate is finally getting what they deserve?]
“Nonsense!” Shen Jianxi is so angry she can almost feel the smoke coming out of her ears. She slams the table, causing Jiang Lan’s spoon to clatter into her bowl. “Who posted this?”
Ye Tao’s heart skips a beat. She quickly grabs Shen Jianxi’s arm to calm her down. “It’s an anonymous post on the forum. They used a public IP address, so it’s hard to find the poster.”
Shen Jianxi grits her teeth. Ye Tao asks, puzzled, “Xixi, didn’t you dislike Tang Yanzhao? You said she was a phony and fake.”
“I don’t dislike her at all,” Shen Jianxi says seriously. “I haven’t even gone after Yang Yuhan yet, and they’re already pulling stunts. Taozi, do many people read the school forum?”
Ye Tao is still a little confused but nods. “I guess so.”
Shen Jianxi narrows her eyes and says, “Then help me post a video.”
She then sends Ye Tao the surveillance footage. After watching it, Ye Tao says “666.”
“Yang Yuhan is so bold, but Tang Yanzhao is really pitiful.”
Shen Jianxi’s eyes turn red with anger. “I will make sure Yang Yuhan can’t stay at Rongqing.”
Ye Tao agrees but then hesitates. “I have a better idea, though.”
“What is it?” Shen Jianxi asks, her temples throbbing.
Ye Tao smiles mysteriously. “Xixi, you know the literary device ‘suppress first, then raise’? Since this has already happened, why don’t we use it to our advantage…”
After hearing Ye Tao’s plan, Shen Jianxi hesitates for a moment before decisively agreeing.
Ye Tao pats her chest. “Leave it to me, you can count on me.”
She looks down at the video playing on a loop on her phone and murmurs, “It’s a good thing Tang Yanzhao didn’t fight back.”
Shen Jianxi doesn’t like that statement. “Why do you say that?”
“Because if she had fought back, it would be considered a mutual fight. If the issue escalated, it would be hard to say who was right and who was wrong.”
“So she should just let herself be bullied?”
This is the third time Shen Jianxi has asked this question, but she still hasn’t gotten an answer from Tang Yanzhao.
Ye Tao looks at the video. Even though Tang Yanzhao is on the ground, her eyes show a resilient and unyielding spirit, but also a deep sense of powerlessness.
“There’s nothing she can do. Look, in Rongqing, most families have some sort of background. For example, my family isn’t super rich; I’m just an ordinary person at Rongqing. I only have a place here because of you, Xixi, so no one has ever bothered me. But Tang Yanzhao is different. She has no one to rely on, so how can she fight back?”
“If she’s bullied and doesn’t fight back, she’ll just get a few injuries. But if she fights back, the chain reaction could lead to her getting a demerit or, in the worst case, the other party’s family could come after her, get her expelled from Rongqing, and spread the word about her, or even ruin her future if their background is powerful enough. Tang Yanzhao can’t afford any of these consequences. After all, people are easily swayed by public opinion. They only believe what they see.”
Ye Tao’s words finally clear up Shen Jianxi’s confusion.
She had indeed taken it for granted. After all, she had never experienced these things and rarely thought about the situation from someone else’s perspective. She had always assumed that if someone was bullied, they should fight back bravely, but she had forgotten to consider the consequences.
“So, Tang Yanzhao must have been thinking that it was better to avoid trouble,” Ye Tao concludes.
Shen Jianxi is silent for a moment. She then makes a decision and says, “Then I’ll let everyone know that I am her support. Shen Jianxi will take responsibility for anything and everything Tang Yanzhao does.”
