The Eldest Lady always wants to have a double O Relationship with her old enemy - Chapter 2
Hearing the voice, Shen Jianxi saw her Alpha mother, Shen Xiaoyin, approaching with a suitcase. She carried a portable suitcase in her right hand, her left arm bent with a black suit jacket draped over it. Her white shirt framed her figure, and she walked with a resolute stride. Behind her seemed to be an invisible gust of wind, which, in the words of most people, was called an aura.
“Mom,” Shen Jianxi got up excitedly and threw herself into Shen Xiaoyin’s arms. “I miss you so much.”
When Shen Xiaoyin saw her daughter, the sharp aura around her completely dissipated. She naturally hugged Shen Jianxi, and her knuckles, calloused from years of holding a pen, gently brushed a few strands of her silky long hair to the side. Her eyes were filled with uncontainable affection. “It’s only been three days.”
For Shen Xiaoyin, it was a three-day business trip, but for Shen Jianxi, it was a reunion of two lifetimes.
“Don’t you miss me?” Her voice was muffled and carried a hint of pitifulness.
Shen Xiaoyin used her finger to scratch her perky nose. “How could I not miss you?”
The Shen family had always believed in a lifelong, exclusive partnership. Once a decision was made, it was for life. Shen’s mother was also Shen Xiaoyin’s childhood sweetheart. They went from campus to marriage without any bumps in the road, and she had expected them to grow old together. She never imagined that during childbirth, an amniotic fluid embolism would occur. After 12 hours of rescue efforts, she ultimately couldn’t be saved.
It was precisely because of this that Shen Xiaoyin poured all her love into Shen Jianxi.
Shen Jianxi rubbed against Shen Xiaoyin for a bit before following her back into the house.
Shen Xiaoyin took out the gifts she had brought back and pushed them in front of Shen Jianxi. “Look, do you like them?”
Shen Jianxi was used to her mother bringing back gifts every time she went on a business trip. For this purpose, she had even knocked down the wall between her walk-in closet and the adjacent room to create a special display case for these expensive jewelry and ornaments.
This time, it was a blue-gold raw stone. The color was clear and bright, without any impurities, and the price was certainly not cheap.
Shen Jianxi sweetly thanked her and then handed it to Aunt Zhou to take upstairs and put away.
Shen Xiaoyin took the water Aunt Zhou handed her, took a sip, and placed it on the side before asking, “I saw Zhaozhao running out in a hurry just now. Did you and her have a disagreement, Xixi?”
Even though she knew her daughter was unhappy with Zhaozhao’s presence and that if a conflict occurred it was probably her daughter who started it, she couldn’t bear to say anything harsh. That’s why she asked in such a roundabout way. If this were at work, the cause and effect would have been crystal clear long ago.
Shen Jianxi’s eyebrows twitched, and she patiently explained, “I told her to have breakfast and then have Uncle Chen drive her to school, but she didn’t want to take the car, so she ran off by herself.”
“Zhaozhao is a good kid. Get along with her.”
Shen Jianxi obediently nodded. “I know.”
She paused and then asked, “Where is Tang Yanzhao’s mother?”
“She’s still living at her old place.”
Shen Jianxi knew that because of their poor circumstances, they had always lived in the city village. Not only was the environment poor, but more importantly, the security conditions were not well-guaranteed. And both she and her mother were omegas. Living in such a mixed-up area carried a much higher risk factor than for others.
Now that she thought about it, Shen Jianxi also felt that she had been overly spoiled and willful.
“Bring her to live here.”
Shen Xiaoyin’s hand on the tablet paused, and then she heard Shen Jianxi say, “But you can’t get married.”
Because if her two mothers got together, she and Tang Yanzhao couldn’t be together. That would be a matter of ethics.
This point was non-negotiable. She would just have to be selfish.
“…”
What kind of thing was that to say? How could she marry another omega?
Shen Xiaoyin’s voice, uncharacteristically, was a little anxious. “Besides your mother, I won’t have anyone else.”
This unexpected answer caught Shen Jianxi off guard. She had thought her mother liked Tang Yanzhao’s mother.
The smile on Shen Xiaoyin’s face faded, replaced by a sense of pressure. She said in a deep voice, “I went abroad with your mother for her to recuperate during her pregnancy. She fell accidentally while taking a walk, and it was Tang Yanzhao’s mother who saved her. That’s how we found out she lived next to us. She was also pregnant with Zhaozhao at the time. Her due date was a month after yours, but Zhaozhao was a premature baby and was born a few days earlier than you.”
While in their mothers’ wombs, Shen Jianxi was older than Tang Yanzhao. But after they were born, Tang Yanzhao was older.
This was the first time Shen Jianxi had heard this story, and she covered her mouth to hold back a chuckle.
Shen Xiaoyin didn’t notice Shen Jianxi’s suppressed laughter. Her thoughts were lost in a memory as she spoke in a low voice, “When Xiao Zhi gave birth to you, there was an accident, and the hospital’s blood bank ran low. Zhaozhao’s mother’s blood type matched, and she risked giving blood despite having just given birth. But in the end, even after her blood was replaced three times, it wasn’t enough to save her.”
As her voice trailed off, Shen Jianxi saw tears welling up in her mother’s eyes.
“Mom, I’m sorry.”
Shen Xiaoyin pressed the corners of her eyes. “Why are you saying sorry? Just remember, Xixi, you only have one omega mother, and there will never be anyone else.”
Shen Jianxi pursed her lips and asked tentatively, “Then can I call the omega mother of the person I like ‘mom’?”
“…”
The somber atmosphere was suddenly dispelled by Shen Jianxi’s teasing words. Shen Xiaoyin burst out laughing. “Does our Xixi have someone she likes?”
Shen Jianxi playfully pouted. “It’s a secret.”
“Okay, a secret. But you have to be cautious about dating. Xixi, you’re an omega, so you must not be deceived by those bad alphas out there, do you hear me?”
Shen Jianxi nodded crisply. “Don’t worry. Those alphas can’t fool me.”
Because she liked omegas.
After breakfast, Shen Jianxi asked to go back to school, and Shen Xiaoyin personally drove her.
“Mom, I’m planning to move into the school dorms. It’ll be closer and save the trouble of picking me up and dropping me off every day,” Shen Jianxi said as she unbuckled her seatbelt.
“The school’s dorms aren’t very good.”
“It’s okay. Isn’t Zhaozhao there too? We can look out for each other, and with the heavy workload later on, living in the dorms will also give me more time to rest.”
Shen Xiaoyin couldn’t win against Shen Jianxi’s persistence and had to agree. “If you can’t get used to it, you can always come back.”
Shen Jianxi tilted her head and smiled, revealing two small dimples. “Love you, Mom. I’m going now.”
“Go on.”
Watching Shen Jianxi’s retreating figure, Shen Xiaoyin’s sharp business instincts kicked in. She felt that there was something different about her daughter.
She smiled and took out her phone. After making a call, she drove away in her conspicuous car.
Shen Jianxi was the precious treasure of the Shen family in Rongcheng. Her reputation was so well-known that everyone knew her. Moreover, the Rolls-Royce parked at the school gate had already attracted countless eyes.
Shen Jianxi paid no attention to this; her mind was focused on rushing to the classroom.
She arrived just in time for the last self-study period of the morning. Her eyes fell on the third-to-last row against the wall, but it was empty.
Just as she put down her backpack, a round-faced girl with her hair in a bun leaned over and whispered, “Xixi, you’re back.”
The girl’s name was Ye Tao. Her family was in the furniture business, with several chain stores in Rongcheng, but compared to the Shen family, they were a drop in the ocean.
“I heard you were sick for the past two days. Are you feeling better?”
The real reason Shen Jianxi didn’t come to school was Tang Yanzhao. The reason she gave to others had to be more presentable, after all, who would dare to gossip about Shen Jianxi?
Shen Jianxi nodded absentmindedly and asked, “Where’s Tang Yanzhao?”
“I don’t know,” Ye Tao followed Shen Jianxi’s gaze. “I haven’t seen her for a while. Why are you looking for her?”
Shen Jianxi didn’t reply. Something occurred to her, and with a frown, she turned around and left the classroom.
In her previous life, she had only returned to school after Tang Yanzhao moved out of the Shen family. Coming back two days early, she didn’t have many memories of this period.
However, Tang Yanzhao seemed cold and aloof, rarely smiling or making friends. In reality, she was very principled and wouldn’t miss class unless absolutely necessary.
So, something must have held her up.
Sure enough, after walking around, Shen Jianxi heard rustling voices at the landing of a half-flight of stairs. She hurried over and saw Tang Yanzhao leaning against the stairs, her palms on the ground, her legs bent. Her gray-soiled elbow was stained with blood, and her tidy school uniform was torn, the zipper lying on the ground next to her scattered books.
But Shen Jianxi could distinctly smell the pungent mustard in the air. Her eyebrows furrowed, and she called out, “What are you doing!”
The moment she spoke, the empty hallway, quiet during class, fell silent. Shen Jianxi’s sudden voice startled the few people there, causing them to shrink their necks.
The three girls who were blocking Tang Yanzhao looked up at Shen Jianxi. “Xixi, you’re back at school.”
The girl in the middle was the first to speak warmly.
Shen Jianxi ignored her and took a couple of steps closer, squeezing in between them. The three girls were forced to step aside. Her eyebrows were furrowed in a dark storm. She knelt down and looked at the wounds on Tang Yanzhao’s body.
It turned out that not only was there an injury on her hand, but there was also a large scrape on her knee. The top layer of skin was like torn wax paper, piled up under the oozing beads of blood. To Shen Jianxi, it looked a little shocking.
Shen Jianxi’s finger hovered above the wound. She wanted to touch it but didn’t dare. Her gentle voice was laced with a slight tremor. “Does it hurt?”
Tang Yanzhao looked at the top of her head. Her black hair fell from her shoulders as she lowered her head, and it swayed slightly as she reached out. She was about to get up when she heard this question, and Tang Yanzhao felt a sense of confusion.
It was strange. Since they met this morning, Shen Jianxi had been acting strangely.
She clearly hated her, but her current behavior didn’t show it. Was she brewing another, more serious storm?
Tang Yanzhao vigilantly dodged her hand and replied with an indifferent distance, “I’m fine.”
Shen Jianxi didn’t mind being avoided. She reached out and held Tang Yanzhao’s uninjured right hand, helping her up from the ground. She thoughtfully straightened her skirt and picked up the scattered textbooks from the floor.
Tang Yanzhao was just about to take the books from her hand, thank her, and leave, but Shen Jianxi switched the books from her left hand to her right and said, “Wait for me.”
After saying that, Shen Jianxi turned to face the three people behind her, her expression as serious as her mother Shen Xiaoyin’s at work, naturally exuding an undeniable pressure.
“Take back your pheromones,” Shen Jianxi ordered the girl in the middle.
The girl’s mind went blank under Shen Jianxi’s gaze, but her actions were quick, and the mustard smell in the air quickly disappeared.
Shen Jianxi’s cold gaze landed squarely on the girl. “Name?”
“Huh?”
Shen Jianxi took a breath to suppress her anger and repeated with impatience, “What’s your name?”
“Y-Yang Yuhan.”
“What about you two?”
The other two girls were betas and reported their names as “Wu Shu” and “Sun Hui” respectively.
“Releasing pheromones in public is illegal. Don’t you know that?”
Yang Yuhan’s stiff mind gradually returned to her. She quickly tried to be ingratiating. “I heard that you don’t like Tang Yanzhao very much, Xixi. Today we ran into her and heard her saying bad things about you, so we thought we’d help you teach her a lesson.”
Hearing this twisted version of events, Tang Yanzhao subconsciously looked at Shen Jianxi, but from that angle, she couldn’t make out her emotions.
Shen Jianxi sneered. “Using my name to bully a classmate, who gave you the guts?”
Seeing that the situation was not going well, Yang Yuhan nudged the two followers beside her.
Wu Shu understood and immediately added fuel to the fire. “It’s true, Xixi. We heard Tang Yanzhao say that besides being pretty and having a rich family, you’re actually useless.”
“Yes, yes, we heard it with our own ears,” Sun Hui quickly followed suit.
Shen Jianxi patted the dust off the books in her hand. “She was badmouthing me to my face, huh?”
“No, no, those were all Tang Yanzhao’s words. We were just repeating them. Xixi, how could we badmouth you?” Yang Yuhan couldn’t have been more fawning.
Shen Jianxi lowered her hand and used the books to lightly pat her outer thigh, her sinister gaze falling on the three of them like a physical weight. “I was originally going to have you apologize first and then we could discuss the rest. But now, there’s no need. I think the surveillance cameras will explain everything.”
Hearing this, Yang Yuhan instantly panicked and instinctively tried to lunge at Shen Jianxi. “Xixi…”
Shen Jianxi let out a low roar, “Get away from me. And don’t call me Xixi.”
“Tang Yanzhao, I’m sorry, we apologize to you. Can you please put in a good word for us with Xi… with student Shen? We can settle this privately. It wouldn’t be good for you if it got out, right?” Yang Yuhan had a flash of inspiration and looked at Tang Yanzhao, who had been standing silently behind Shen Jianxi.
Tang Yanzhao’s lips parted, and Shen Jianxi turned her head and glared at her. “Don’t speak.”
“…”
The words that had reached Tang Yanzhao’s throat were forcefully swallowed.
Shen Jianxi’s patience ran out. “Bullying a classmate, publicly releasing pheromones to try and induce an omega into a heat. Yang Yuhan, even if these things don’t get you a few cups of tea in the station, I can still get you expelled from Rongqing.”
Rongqing was not only a top high school in Rongcheng but also a school where many children of the wealthy studied. Many parents would spend a lot of money to pull strings to get their children in, with the ulterior motive of using the connections to climb the social ladder and change their fate.
Yang Yuhan’s family only owned two textile factories, and the other two were just small followers with shallow backgrounds. They were nothing in front of the Shen family.
As soon as these words were said, Yang Yuhan, afraid of Shen Jianxi’s aura, burst into tears. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, we were wrong. We weren’t thinking straight. We were just momentarily led astray. Please forgive us this one time. We’ll never dare to do it again. If my parents find out about this, they’ll kill me.”
Shen Jianxi stopped wasting her breath on them and led Tang Yanzhao away.
In the quiet hallway, only the sound of a light and a heavy footstep remained. With the help of the warm light, Tang Yanzhao could clearly see the fine hairs on Shen Jianxi’s profile and the small red mole behind her ear.
