The Eldest Lady always wants to have a double O Relationship with her old enemy - Chapter 18
Tang Yanzhao opened her mouth slightly, ready to nip the cotton candy fox’s ear. Unexpectedly, before she could even touch it, the fluffy little fox was suddenly pulled away, along with the distance between her and Shen Jianxi.
The fingers holding the bamboo stick tightened. She looked down at her toes, a hook forming at the corner of her eye.
‘Zhaozhao’s tongue is so red, moist, and soft. It looks so comfortable. Ah! I’m actually coveting her tongue. No, no, this is too fast. I’m so dirty.’
For once, Shen Jianxi was self-reproachful, shyly turning her head away. She pretended to take a bite of the cotton candy, the cloying sweetness melting in her mouth.
It was really a bit too sweet, tasting entirely of artificial flavoring. After just one bite, Shen Jianxi disdainfully handed it to Tang Yanzhao, clapping her hands and complaining, “It’s too sweet, not good.”
Tang Yanzhao, who had bitten at nothing, remained expressionless. She quietly watched Shen Jianxi’s colorful range of expressions, a gentle curve involuntarily appearing on her lips.
Shen Jianxi held out her hands in front of Tang Yanzhao. “They’re so sticky.”
Tang Yanzhao immediately pulled a pack of wet wipes from her dress. Shen Jianxi laughed in surprise, “You’re wearing this outfit and you still have wet wipes!”
Tang Yanzhao glanced at her. “Just put them in there casually.”
She handed the wet wipes to Shen Jianxi, but Shen Jianxi maintained her outstretched hands, making no move to take them herself.
Tang Yanzhao held the cotton candy in her left hand and the wet wipes in her right, lowering her head in thought.
Shen Jianxi wasn’t completely in the dark about Tang Yanzhao’s feelings for her; she at least knew she was in a tough spot.
‘Is she reluctant to throw away this awful thing?’
Shen Jianxi snatched the cotton candy, unhesitatingly tossing it into a nearby trash can.
“Okay, wipe them now,” she said, her tone completely matter-of-fact.
Anyone else hearing Shen Jianxi’s attitude might think she was bossy and arrogant. Tang Yanzhao, who had initially had her disagreements with Shen Jianxi, might have thought so too.
But not now.
Shen Jianxi deserved to be spoiled; she was born to be like this.
Tang Yanzhao neatly tore open the package, pulled out a wet wipe, and gently dabbed Shen Jianxi’s fingers. However, Shen Jianxi was feeling playful. When Tang Yanzhao leaned in, wet wipe in hand, Shen Jianxi would quickly pull her hand down to avoid contact. When Tang Yanzhao moved the wet wipe away, Shen Jianxi would confidently return her hand to its original position.
After several repetitions, Tang Yanzhao looked up at her. Shen Jianxi’s eyes were filled with a mischievous, playful smile, making her look incredibly cute.
Tang Yanzhao’s lips curved upward unconsciously. Her free left hand finally took hold of Shen Jianxi’s fingers, successfully bringing the wet wipe into contact with her skin.
The fair and delicate palm was right in front of her. The reddish fingertips looked like plum blossoms growing on a snowy branch in winter. Her long, slender fingers were just like something out of a manga. They glistened slightly from the wet wipe.
“Are my hands pretty?” Shen Jianxi asked in a clear voice, with an ambiguous smile.
Tang Yanzhao, head bowed and eyes slightly closed, her long lashes trembling, replied, “Yes.”
Then, as if remembering Shen Jianxi’s earlier question, Tang Yanzhao thoughtfully added two words: “Very pretty.”
Shen Jianxi used her pinky to brush Tang Yanzhao’s palm. The ticklish sensation made her instinctively lift her wrist. Shen Jianxi, in turn, grabbed her hand, which was warmer than her own, and gently tapped her curled fingers. “But I think yours are even prettier.”
The moist fingers covered hers. Tang Yanzhao, dazed, allowed Shen Jianxi to do as she pleased, watching as she intertwined their fingers and affectionately rubbed Tang Yanzhao’s hand with her thumb.
“Zhaozhao, your hands feel so nice,” Shen Jianxi’s words were growing bolder.
Tang Yanzhao didn’t catch the double meaning. After all, omegas don’t need to use their hands for anything, and without deeply ingrained gender stereotypes, no matter how suggestive the words, she couldn’t connect them with Shen Jianxi’s thoughts at the moment.
She was not repulsed by their intimate contact and was even starting to accept it, but that didn’t mean she was entirely comfortable.
From regular hand-holding to now being in an interlocked embrace, every sensitive crevice between her fingers felt the other’s touch and warmth. Any slight tremor in a finger could be felt by the other person without delay.
Tang Yanzhao wanted to pull her hand away. Shen Jianxi quickly noticed, tightened her grip, and brought their hands between them, giving them a casual shake as she led her forward.
At this point, redirecting attention was more effective than explaining or persuading.
At least, that’s what Shen Jianxi believed.
In reality, Tang Yanzhao was just forced to follow her pace and had no opportunity to pull away.
The street was overly commercialized. Even with the pretense of traditional crafts, the things being made were quite disappointing.
However, the night, lit by candlelight, was more charming than the day. The two stood by the dimly lit river and, like the crowd, released two sky lanterns.
Shen Jianxi gazed at the gradually receding lanterns. “What did you write?”
Hearing her, Tang Yanzhao turned her head to look at her, answering truthfully, “I didn’t write anything.”
“Huh? Why not? You can make a wish, maybe it’ll come true?”
Tang Yanzhao chuckled softly. “I have no wishes.”
Shen Jianxi’s eyes widened in surprise. “None?!”
“Mhm.” Tang Yanzhao’s posture was completely open and honest.
Shen Jianxi’s heart was filled with a mix of emotions.
The two lanterns were getting farther and farther away, until not even a spark of light could be seen.
“Let’s go back.”
“Okay.”
What Shen Jianxi didn’t say was that she had written: “I hope Tang Yanzhao gets what she wishes for.”
The two were getting changed to leave when they received a call from Ye Tao.
“Taozi.”
Ye Tao’s end was noisy. “Where did you go? I called you a bunch of times, but you didn’t pick up.”
“My phone was on silent; I didn’t see it. What’s up?” Shen Jianxi calmly explained.
“Nothing much. It’s just that Jiang Lan asked if you wanted to come over for some barbecue.”
“Okay, we’re on our way.”
Although Shen Xiaoying didn’t like Shen Jianxi eating junk food, including street food, she couldn’t stop her daughter from having a “good friend” like Jiang Lan. This habit was brought about by Jiang Lan; they’d secretly go for a meal every now and then.
When the two arrived, the table was already full of all sorts of dishes. Even the small cart next to them was nearly set up, but there was only Ye Tao at the wooden square table.
Ye Tao saw Shen Jianxi and enthusiastically waved to her. “Xixi, over here.”
Shen Jianxi pulled Tang Yanzhao along and naturally sat down across from her. She familiar took a freshly grilled piece of pork belly and handed it to Tang Yanzhao.
Tang Yanzhao took it and said thank you. Shen Jianxi blinked at her twice before picking up a new skewer and putting it in her mouth, asking, “How come it’s just you?”
Ye Tao shrugged. “She said she went to pick someone up.”
Shen Jianxi raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Pick someone up? She’s seeing someone!”
Ye Tao let out a snicker, adding to her words, “No idea.”
Sometimes, talking behind people’s backs is like a strange curse. The two had just finished a sentence when the subject’s voice rang out first, “Talking smack about me again?”
Shen Jianxi and Ye Tao exchanged a knowing smile, silently agreeing that there was no need to explain. However, Ye Tao’s smile instantly vanished, replaced by a complex expression.
Shen Jianxi then turned to look in Jiang Lan’s direction, only to see Jiang Lan pushing a wheelchair toward them. The girl in the wheelchair looked back at them with a beaming smile.
“Thank you.”
When Jiang Lan fixed the wheelchair in place, the girl politely thanked her.
Jiang Lan, on the other hand, waved her hand dismissively and sat down on the stool next to her, looking up to receive two pairs of scrutinizing eyes.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Who is she?” Shen Jianxi asked, a slight hook at the corner of her eye, her tone completely unapologetic.
“Fang Xing,” Jiang Lan gave a brief introduction, then, without a care, picked up a chicken wing and began gnawing on it. It was unclear if she was just thick-skinned or a little dense.
“Hello,” Fang Xing politely nodded to them.
Ye Tao’s lips curled into a slight smile. “Hello.”
Shen Jianxi openly scrutinized her. “Aren’t you going to introduce her properly?”
Jiang Lan smacked her lips. “What’s there to introduce? We’re not even close; we’re just having a barbecue. No need to make a big deal out of it.”
With that, she gestured to Ye Tao with her chin. “Taozi, pass me a beer.”
Ye Tao’s lips twitched in exasperation. “Can’t you act a little more like a student?”
Jiang Lan raised an eyebrow. “It’s just beer; it doesn’t get you drunk. Does drinking this mean I’m not a student anymore? Taozi, you say this every time. My ears are about to wear out. Besides, you’re supposed to have beer with barbecue and crayfish.”
She even adopted a specific accent at the end.
Ye Tao rolled her eyes, half-amused. Seeing that Ye Tao wasn’t going to hand it over, Jiang Lan had to get it herself. The sound of a crisp “pop” followed, and the beer bottle began to gurgle with foam. Jiang Lan tilted her head back and took a big gulp. The craft beer trickled down her jawline and over her Adam’s apple. She casually wiped it with the back of her hand and continued to eat.
With her like this, who would guess that she was a descendant of the Jiang family, a name as prominent as the Shen family in Rongcheng?
Fang Xing’s eyes held a hint of a smile. Meeting Shen Jianxi’s slightly unfriendly gaze, her expression didn’t change at all as she calmly added to Jiang Lan’s statement, “We… really aren’t close.”
