The Devil's Contract Lover - Chapter 31
Shadows split the wall, and crimson swept in from all directions.
The devil, not yet fully solidified, shielded the girl holding the chisel, with fangs protruding from its lips that were split to its ears.
“Xing kong, are you okay?” A tear slid down Yao Yuan’s face. She abruptly turned and hugged the gradually solidifying devil: it wasn’t scary at all; from the moment Xing kong appeared, there was only a sense of security.
“Of course, I’m fine.” Xing kong smiled, gently raising a finger and running it through her hair. All the minor cuts on Yao Yuan’s body healed in turn, and her dirty clothes instantly transformed into a soft dress.
The devil’s descent was not a good thing for others.
At the same time, the man, unable to utter a sound in his extreme fear, stumbled a few steps forward, and sharp spikes pierced him from all sides.
The tips fixed themselves into a star shape in his throat, while his hands, feet, and every joint were racked with pain, as if invisible, endless iron awls were drilling through his flesh.
No person could withstand such agony, yet he was more awake than ever, feeling the bone-deep torment with every nerve.
“Xiao Yuan, I looked for you for a long time before I finally found you.” This time, Xing kong did not casually apologize. She hugged Yao Yuan in a spoiled manner, pressing her into her embrace. This intimate gesture quickly dissolved the fear and estrangement that had accumulated over the past few days.
The devil was so different from those guys; no connection or displaced anger could be formed.
“How long is a long time?” Yao Yuan rubbed against Xing kong’s chest, smiling in a warm, sleepy haze.
Her smile seemed to affect the devil too; Xing kong’s features gradually lost their non-human traits and she put on a human-like mask again: “Three hours, spent linking ‘related people’ one by one, and more time struggling to break free from that useless seal.”
“It looks like you had to ask around a lot to find out,” Yao Yuan yawned, having been mentally stressed, hungry, and exhausted these past few days.
Xing kong didn’t say anything unnecessary. She simply held out her hand: “Let’s go home.”
“Okay!” Yao Yuan suddenly remembered something important, her eyes instantly serious: “Wait, I still have to save someone. Is there an old woman lurking outside? She’s not dead yet, is she? I need her to confess exactly how many people she sold, where she abducted them from, and where she sold them.”
“She’s still alive.” Xing kong’s tone was flat. The man, who had been skewered like a piece of meat, was suddenly flung out with a ‘poof,’ his spine crashing heavily against the broken door panel.
The blind man’s eyes were wide, blood flowing from his orifices, as he watched himself pierce the old woman’s waist into two sections. Then, the two broken halves of her spine twisted and pieced themselves back together, and the old woman, amid non-human shrieks, turned into a soft, grotesque puddle of creature.
By the time Yao Yuan was released by Xing kong and ran outside, she only saw the man pinned to the door panel with a look of horror, and the old woman curled up in a heap on the ground.
“Xiao Yuan, you can ask her anything you want to know directly.” Xing kong placed a hand on her shoulder.
Yao Yuan cleared her throat: “Honestly confess, how many people have you sold? Where did you abduct them from? Where did you sell them?”
The old woman’s cervical spine twitched unnaturally, and she began to recite mechanically, like pouring beans out of a bamboo tube: “The seventh day of the first lunar month 32 years ago in…”
In five minutes, she rattled off several victims, and when she reached 31 years ago, her mouth was still continuously spewing out new cases, making Yao Yuan so angry that she kicked her.
Her toe felt like it kicked a soft, squishy caterpillar, which was unnerving. With the kick, a cell phone bounced out of the old woman’s clothes, hitting the ground and cracking.
“Xing kong, can you help strengthen the signal?” She handed the phone over casually.
“I can.” The devil handed the phone back.
Yao Yuan dialed 110 directly, waiting for it to connect: “I need to report a crime. I’ve caught an old trafficker here who frequently abducts women and children.”
She placed the phone next to the old woman: “Say it again. Where is this place, and when and where did you abduct people? Who did you sell them to?”
The old woman twisted and continued to confess, with a stream of white, watery fluid trickling from her brain after every segment of speech.
An hour later, Yao Yuan took one last look at the wicked grandmother and grandson: “Let’s leave them here; the police will be here soon.”
She hugged Xing kong’s arm excitedly: “There’s another victim in the village down the mountain; it’s still a distance away. Should we go save her first?”
“I just came from there.” Fine, scattered starlight flickered in the devil’s deep eyes: “No need to worry about that side.”
“Is she safe?” Yao Yuan didn’t think too much.
“Mhm, that person is safe. Do you want to sleep first? I’ll carry you back.” Dark red settled in the spiral, and the arms that had returned to normal embraced the person in her arms.
“That’s good…” Yao Yuan completely relaxed, closing her eyes in a sudden, heavy wave of sleepiness: “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
When she woke up again, everything before her was brand new.
Looking at the new room, whose furnishings were vastly different from before, Yao Yuan had a feeling of being in another world: Xing kong really has a strong preference for cute styles; the bedroom has been decorated like a princess room…
Xing kong had bought quite a few new pieces of furniture to fill the bedroom. A cute plush bear was placed in a glass cabinet facing the bed. On both sides, she could see a pink and purple vanity and a full row of standing cabinets.
It wasn’t that she disliked any of this.
Her feet moved towards the window, stepping onto the pure white plush carpet. Pink bunny slippers were right beside her feet.
“Xing kong~ are you here?”
“Rest well today; it’s Saturday.” The devil’s figure emerged from outside the door.
Yao Yuan widened her eyes, looking at what Xing kong was holding: “You actually went out and bought fried chicken?!”
“Mhm, you should like eating this a lot.” The devil lifted the paper bag.
Yao Yuan’s face slowly flushed: “I really do like it… it’s just… nothing! Let’s eat together.” She took the paper bag, tore it open, and placed it on the table. Blank plates and silver cutlery automatically appeared. The paper bag was peeled away, and chunks of chicken were placed onto the plates. The peeling cup was quickly filled with yogurt.
No wonder Xing kong had a small table for afternoon tea in the room… thankfully the bedroom was very large.
She picked up a fork, speared a chicken chunk, and divided a piece of tender white chicken into smaller bites. Watching Xing kong’s focused gaze, her cheeks flushed: “Xing kong, ah~” The devil opened her mouth, and a small piece of chicken was fed into it.
“Xing kong.”
“Mhm.”
Yao Yuan slightly lifted her face: “Right now, we really are like lovers, aren’t we?”
“We are lovers to begin with.” Xing kong imitated her previous action, feeding her.
This time, Yao Yuan proactively grabbed the devil’s wrist.
The skin was cool. The devil’s wrist was a little thinner than she imagined, despite its immense power…
Her palm was burning, but she didn’t look away, staring directly into the devil’s eyes: “Xing kong, let’s officially declare war.”
“Declare war? You and me?”
“Yes, from today, we will honor the contract in a straightforward manner.” Yao Yuan’s eyes didn’t blink: “Whether I completely fall in love with you, or you fail to fulfill the contract, you can see this as a declaration of war.”
The barrier between them instantly vanished. The table and chairs moved away on their own. The devil took Yao Yuan’s hand, supporting her so she wouldn’t fall.
Being looked down upon by those crimson eyes was truly full of pressure. Yao Yuan forced her neck not to twist. The distance grew shorter. Did she… provoke Xing kong?
No, she didn’t… Xing kong wasn’t angry. She was…
Excited.
The devil had no heartbeat, but the human could feel the emotion being fed back by the other party in every beat of her own heart. Atmosphere and blood flow intertwined.
Then, her breath was stolen.
A feeling of suffocation
Yao Yuan suddenly lost sensation in her neck, unable to draw even a sliver of oxygen from her chest. She couldn’t feel her breath at all, forgetting how to breathe.
Mouth, lips… her lips were being plundered.
Compared to the devil’s challenge, the human’s declaration of war seemed childish and laughable.
She couldn’t distinguish the sensation on her tongue; the lines in her mind were messy.
Sweetness, the sweetness of obedience, and… honor.
This kiss… her eyes finally saw normally. Xing kong, who was kissing her… was the superior.
Her soul began to panic. Yao Yuan finally realized the most dangerous point: resistance. Could she truly resist Xing kong, especially right after being saved?
What would a human girl use to fight against the devil’s advances?
With willpower, I can’t lose here!
When her willpower awoke, control over her breathing and her wrist returned simultaneously. The arrogant devil indeed hadn’t used magic to restrict her movements.
Yao Yuan lifted her wrist, pinched Xin gkong’s waist, and bit down without hesitation!
The ambiguous atmosphere abruptly dissipated. She licked her lips: “How long are you going to keep kissing me? Do you like me that much?”
Oops, was that too provocative?
“Heh… Hahahaha.” Xing kong laughed. This time, her eyes weren’t just smiling; the amusement had spread to her whole gaze.
The devil’s finger gently stroked Yao Yuan’s cheek: “So cute. Did you feel anything just now?”
“Feel what?” Yao Yuan gritted her teeth and played dumb: “Don’t take advantage of having good technique to be a pervert…”
“It is said that humans are easily corrupted. They only need a little push to fall down on their own.” The finger made a very suggestive movement, drawing an arc before being tossed away.
“You are truly humorous…” She avoided the devil’s exploring gaze. If she told the truth, things that wouldn’t be funny might happen.
“I understand. I accept your declaration of war.” Xing kong’s tone was gentle, but her arm was completely restraining her: “As a reward for making me so delighted, after you offer up your soul—” “I will completely devour you.” The cruel whisper was as resolute as a lover’s vow.
“Eh, eh?” Yao Yuan was dumbfounded: “Y-You’re too wasteful… Aren’t collectibles meant to be resold? Y-You mean my soul can’t be sold?” Wuwu, Lin Xiaoyu even said she would buy it.
“Wasteful? You will only belong to me.” The devil tightly clasped her waist: “You will never have to worry about how you’ll be treated. This is my mercy as a Lover.”
Cunning.
Is this telling me that she acknowledges my identity as her lover… is she serious, or just putting on an act?
I can’t see clearly, I can’t see clearly… my vision is too blurred.
A light touch of a kiss gently landed.
This time, Xing kong closed her eyes, like a true lover, slightly careful and reverent.
The battle has begun.
The master swordsman finally dropped her arrogance, exchanging the branch in her hand for a handy divine weapon. The superior coming to plunder failed to break through the steel defense, but the cruel and resolute lover took a deep step toward the bottom line.
In this battle happening on a suspended thread, moving forward or backward meant bottomless abyss.
So, after the kiss ended, Yao Yuan masked her unease with a smile: “Xing kong, today we should—” “Xiao Yuan, let’s relax first.” Love flickered in the devil’s eyes for the first time: “After going through so much, I want to start today by…”
“Understanding you.”
