The Devil's Contract Lover - Chapter 26
The next day, the weather did not clear up; the rain was falling harder and harder. Yao Yuan got out of the car and shook off the lingering water droplets from her body.
“Xing Kong, don’t move yet.” She blocked the umbrella reaching out to her: “I want to try a little bit of getting wet for the psychological warfare.”
The closer they walked to the alley leading to the school, the more the water pooled on the streets. Before she took five steps, her feet and sandals were already clinging together, and the raindrops were dense and violent, as if God was having a water-splashing festival.
Xing Kong’s umbrella was handed over again, but this time she did not push it away.
The rain clouds were thick and heavy, exuding a strange blackish-purple hue.
She finally managed to squat down inside the teaching building and opened her phone to check the weather forecast, but to her surprise, the top right corner actually showed “No Service Area”?!
“There’s an energy field nearby. Don’t worry, I won’t let go of you.” Xing Kong gripped her wrist, and the lights flickered just in time.
The teaching building had a total of 20 floors. Yao Yuan stood nervously in the elevator, watching it move up floor by floor. The teacher was usually on the 14th-floor club department… Ding, the elevator stopped on the 8th floor.
The elevator door opened very slowly, and halfway open, it suddenly began to shake—the chains clattered and slumped down! At least a third of the opening was blocked by the wall.
“Aah aah aah—!” Yao Yuan suddenly hugged Xing Kong’s waist, clinging to the devil like a tree sloth: “Teleport! Teleport, Xing Kong!!”
With a whoosh, a black shadow suddenly darted out of the gap.
“Ghoost aah aah aah—” This time Yao Yuan was too late to shout for help; her hands moved faster than her brain. She pulled out the draft paper from her bag where she had practiced drawing talismans yesterday and plastered the black shadow’s face with it.
“I knew this was a trap, someone definitely wants to kill me.” She threw the talisman paper and retreated behind Xing Kong, trembling.
“Cough, cough, cough!” The black shadow started coughing and spat out a mouthful of blood.
Yao Yuan focused her gaze: Good heavens, this is an acquaintance, the blonde she’s seen several times!
“Are you okay… I didn’t mean it. I didn’t know I could injure someone even without any practice.” She quickly pulled out a napkin, trying to wipe the blood off the blonde’s face, but she only made it worse, even getting quite a bit of bloodstain on her bag.
“What type of vessel injured you?” Xing Kong squatted down, pressing her hand on the wound on the person’s neck. Her eyes darkened: the wound’s healing speed was much faster than that of ordinary humans.
“Thank you, I can’t say.” The blonde’s usually clear voice was very hoarse: “Please take me out. I need to, need to tell others about this, cough, cough, cough!” She spat out another mouthful of blood.
“Alright, we’ll go down now.” Yao Yuan abruptly pressed the 1st-floor button, but the elevator remained motionless. She looked eagerly at the devil, but his expression was very serious. He immediately hugged her tightly.
Snap, the elevator cable was severed by an invisible force amid Yao Yuan’s screams and began to plummet into the abyss.
With superhuman tacit understanding between the blonde and the devil, a black mist swept the bottom, forcibly braking the descent. The blonde pressed the half-open elevator doors with both her left and right hands. Her arm muscles suddenly bulged, and with a loud shout, the door swung open in response.
Before Yao Yuan could react, the blonde flashed out of the elevator and collapsed on the floor as if exhausted. The devil was also holding Yao Yuan as he flew out of the elevator, landing safely.
The entire process seemed shorter than a single breath, and the sound of crushing metal echoed from the deep shaft.
The matter was not over yet; the floor creaked and lifted upward, as if worms were gnawing at a cookie. Transparent and viscous threads arched out of the floor, like fungi multiplying.
“I understand, these are spiritual energy growths.” A flash of inspiration struck Yao Yuan, and she suddenly recalled what was written in the basic instruction booklet she read last night.
“More or less.” Xing Kong walked towards the fallen blonde, using a dagger to slice open her palm and press it onto the ground. The threads instantly stagnated. The devil patiently held the person’s palm, drawing a hexagram on the floor.
“You are a devil…” The blonde, who had been lying motionless on the ground, suddenly raised her head and glared fiercely at Xing Kong with her light brown eyes.
“Don’t move, or I’ll have to kill you first and then twist off your wrist.” The devil continued drawing the pattern methodically: “Digging out your heart is too bloody; it would scare my contractor.”
“You’re lying. Devils are masters of illusion; you definitely have another plan… cough, cough, cough.”
“Xing Kong, are you going to kill her?” Yao Yuan’s voice suddenly rang out: “Don’t do that, she’s not a bad person at all.”
“Xiao Yuan, the power of a Pseudo-Divine Vessel should not be underestimated.” Xing Kong’s voice was still gentle, but his hand movements did not stop.
“Did you sign a contract with the devil?” The blonde suddenly shifted her gaze, staring intently at Yao Yuan: “You were forced.” Her eyes were full of pity, seemingly not caring about her own safety at all.
Snap, a crisp breaking sound.
The blonde’s eyes were stained red with blood. Her right wrist was indeed twisted 360 degrees. The devil seemed to be enjoying the pain she was inflicting on others.
He really is enraged.
Yao Yuan’s voice was trembling: “Xing Kong, if you kill her here, I will never let you have your way!”
“Xiao Yuan, don’t talk nonsense.” A smile even appeared on the devil’s face: “Besides, dedicating a life to reseal the Pseudo-Divine Vessel is her inherent responsibility.”
“Indeed.” The blonde’s voice was very weak, but she suddenly exerted force with her waist, kicking her legs and pouncing towards the devil!
“Human, do you think you can hurt me?” The arrogance suddenly froze at the corner of his mouth.
“I certainly can’t hurt you, but—don’t underestimate the machinery created by humans that can seal artifacts!!”
Amidst a blood-splattering roar, the blonde used her other hand to clutch a spherical object and thrust it forward. Bone-like claws sprang from her still intact wrist, completely piercing Xing Kong’s body!
“Xing Kong!” Yao Yuan had already sensed the situation was wrong, but her speed was too slow; the exchange between the two only lasted a moment.
“For humanity!” The blonde looked at Yao Yuan with bloodshot eyes: “Quickly pull out the dagger at my waist!”
She subconsciously pulled out the dagger: “Huh? And then?”
“It is a linker paired with the sealing orb… cough, cough, cough, hurry up and seal the devil……” Xing Kong was completely restrained by the sealing orb. Knowing him, this arrogant devil was probably too proud to even act as if he were at a disadvantage.
Perhaps a second, perhaps 10 seconds, the dagger clattered onto the ground.
As the tip of the dagger struck the floor, the devil suddenly broke free from part of the restraints, and a black shadow rapidly burst out.
The blonde was sent flying backward, hitting the corner of the wall, her eyes tightly closed, and blood oozing from the back of her head. She lay on the ground with two broken hands, her life uncertain. Meanwhile, the devil’s torso became a translucent medium, repeatedly tangling with the flashing orb.
Yao Yuan reached out without hesitation, placing her fingers inside Xing Kong’s body. She wanted to touch the orb but was gripped by the wrist.
“Be careful, it can seal you too.”
“Ah, be sealed?”
“That’s right.” The devil’s eyes were deep. He stroked Yao Yuan’s face with one hand: “With the power of that dagger, sealing me for a century is probably achievable. Do you really not want to escape?”
A century is short for Xing Kong, but for me, it is a lifetime.
Yao Yuan’s first reaction was surprisingly not to break the contract. Her heart trembled, and she deliberately glared at the devil: “Of course, I want to escape, but your situation is too bad. Tell me, how can I help you?”
If Xing Kong were a lying devil, perhaps she would have had the excuse to wield the knife just now.
