- The Delicate Beauty Grabbed the Cannon Fodder Villain’s Script [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 7 - The Sickly Beauty Dropped His Mask
The villa appeared dilapidated from the outside, but the interior was clean and organized. It was evident that it had been cleaned in advance. Although the decorations were dated, they possessed a certain vintage charm.
The room prepared for Jian Tao was on the second floor. It seemed to have been a child’s room previously, as it was quite whimsical and the bed was covered with several plush toys. Although the furnishings were somewhat dark, the room had excellent natural light and felt dry and bright.
Su Wen carried him all the way to the room and only set him down once they reached the bedside. As soon as Jian Tao’s backside touched the mattress, he immediately rolled onto his side. Although every movement now brought aches to his waist and back, he truly did not want to face Su Wen after being carried by him. He spoke in a muffled voice.
“Go bring my parrot up. I am going to rest.”
Su Wen looked at the curves of the person on the bed facing away from him and let out a soft “tsk.” Young Master Jian really knew how to discard the help once the job was done.
Jian Tao indeed had that mindset. Hearing Su Wen’s voice behind him, he removed the stifling mask and frowned to show his dissatisfaction, looking back at him. “Draw the curtains for me, then hurry downstairs to get the parrot. It will get stifled if it stays in the car for too long.”
“Young Master is truly kind to that parrot,” Su Wen said coldly. He walked to the window and pulled the curtains shut with a swift motion. As he walked back past the bed, he suddenly leaned down close to Jian Tao’s ear. “I heard this house was abandoned because of some dirty things. I wonder if that is true.”
“What!” Jian Tao’s eyes widened in surprise, his gaze nervously sweeping the room. “You!”
Before he could finish his question, Su Wen had already left. The room fell silent. Jian Tao tightened his throat and asked System 250, “System, there won’t be any supernatural things appearing in this world, right?”
“Of course not,” 250 answered firmly. “This world follows a modern scientific worldview. Nothing unscientific will appear.”
Hearing this, Jian Tao finally felt at ease. “Hmph, this Su Wen did that on purpose to get back at me for ordering him around.”
“Exactly, he is too wicked,” 250 echoed.
In the villa, everyone was currently chatting on the first floor. When they saw Su Wen come down, they could not stop teasing him. “Brother Su Wen, did the Little Young Master finally let you go?”
“I did not expect Brother Su Wen to be so obedient to Young Master Jian.”
Su Wen glanced at them but said nothing. He went straight to the courtyard and brought out the birdcage. The bird inside looked a bit silly, with round red patches on its cheeks, just like its owner.
When Su Wen returned with the cage, the group in the hall was drinking and messing around with various musical instruments.
“I thought you were coming down to drink with us, but it turns out you were just fetching a bird for Young Master Jian,” Jiang Chengli joked, drawing a burst of laughter from the crowd.
“Why are you so obedient to him now?” Jiang Shi frowned, looking perplexed. Even if he wanted to keep things stable before Jian Tao married into the Jiang family, there was no need to go this far.
Su Wen’s face remained expressionless. He simply placed a finger to his lips and made a “shh” sound. “Keep it down. Young Master Jian is sleeping upstairs.”
The crowd went silent for a second before Jiang Shi cursed under his breath.
Watching Su Wen’s retreating figure as he headed upstairs, Jiang Shi muttered, “Has he developed an addiction to this?”
“Massaging his legs and carrying him out of the car. Su Wen, are you sure you are not playing some master-servant game?”
“Even if you want to play, find someone good-looking. Someone like Jian Tao.”
When Su Wen reached Jian Tao’s room, he found that the boy was already asleep. He placed the birdcage on the windowsill and turned to leave, but as he passed the bed, he stopped.
Jian Tao was sleeping soundly, his gorgeous face calm and quiet. His long lashes cast small shadows on his skin. Looking at him like this, he was incredibly well-behaved.
Su Wen’s fingertips brushed against the smooth cheek, and a curve appeared at the corner of his mouth. “It is actually quite fun.”
Jian Tao did not know how long he had slept. When he woke up, the room was pitch black. He could not even see his own hand in front of his face.
“System, it is so dark!” Jian Tao said nervously. He remembered Su Wen saying this place might have “dirty things.” He had not taken it seriously before, but now his mind was racing uncontrollably.
“Go turn on the light,” 250 reminded him.
Jian Tao immediately turned on the bedside lamp, then put on his shoes and got out of bed to turn on the room lights. However, the room still looked “off” no matter how he looked at it, especially with those human-shaped dolls sitting on the bookshelf.
He quickly grabbed his mask from the bedside and ran out. “It is all Su Wen’s fault. If it were not for him, I would not be scared at all.”
“Exactly,” 250 agreed.
Jian Tao left the room. The lights in the hallway were on, the dim yellow glow reflecting eerily off the murals on the walls. He stepped onto the soft red carpet, which muffled his footsteps completely. It felt exactly like a scene from a horror movie.
“Where did everyone go?” Jian Tao muttered in a trembling voice. Only when he reached the railing did he see the bright lights of the first-floor living room and hear the frequent sounds of laughter.
He looked down and realized everyone was gathered on the first floor, seemingly playing a game. He certainly had not come out here just to sleep, so he immediately headed down, planning to join them.
However, as soon as he reached the living room, the laughter died down. “Oh? Young Master Jian is awake?”
Jian Tao scanned the room. Everyone else was there, but Su Wen was missing. “Where is Su Wen?”
“He is resting in his room. Maybe he got too tired serving his young master,” a bright and beautiful woman said.
“Su Wen is certainly a dedicated butler. Does he offer a tuck-in service too?”
Jian Tao stood to the side, his fingers clenching. “Su Wen is my butler. Of course he does whatever I tell him to do.”
Jiang Shi, who was currently drinking, let out a cold snort. “I do not know what nerve Su Wen has crossed lately.”
Jiang Chengli had been watching the scene from the side. Once he had seen enough, he stepped in to play the “good guy.” “Ah, what is there to say? Young Master Jian, why don’t you sit down and play with us?”
That was exactly what Jian Tao wanted. He immediately sat down next to Jiang Shi. He had to build up those hatred points; otherwise, he would not bother playing games with these people. Sure enough, the moment Jian Tao sat next to Jiang Shi, 250 told him there was a fluctuation in Jiang Shi’s hatred value.
After sitting down, Jian Tao happily took a piece of cake from the side. They were all sitting on the carpet, and the food and drinks were scattered about. After eating the cake in a few bites, Jian Tao pointed to the peanuts next to Jiang Chengli. “Can you pass those to me?”
Jiang Chengli glanced at him. This Young Master Jian had gotten cream on the corner of his mouth again. He picked up the peanuts and tossed them over, then watched as Jian Tao licked the cream away. At that moment, those lips looked even smoother than the cream.
“What are you doing?” Jiang Shi gave Jiang Chengli a kick. “Are we playing or not?”
“Playing, playing, of course we are playing,” Jiang Chengli awkwardly withdrew his gaze and said, “Truth or Dare. Let’s see who the bottle points to.”
With that, Jiang Chengli spun the bottle. Jian Tao was still popping peanuts into his mouth. In the next second, the neck of the bottle pointed directly at him.
Jian Tao nearly choked. His luck was truly terrible.
The others immediately burst into laughter. Jiang Chengli asked with a smile, “Young Master Jian, do you choose Truth or Dare?”
Jian Tao rubbed his fingers together. “I choose Dare.”
The others did not expect him to choose that. Usually, people who did not know the “limit” of the game would not pick a dare right away. No one knew that in Jian Tao’s mind, if he chose Truth, he might have to lie. Although people often called him “stupid,” he took everything he did very seriously, including playing games.
Jian Tao lamented his bad luck. “Just say it. What do you want me to do?”
It was a rare opportunity to see the arrogant Young Master Jian in a tight spot, and everyone was excited. While they were brainstorming, someone said, “Take off the mask.”
As soon as those words were spoken, a small wave of excitement erupted. “Yes, yes, yes! Young Master Jian, take off your mask! None of us have ever seen what you look like without it!”
“Since you are playing, you have to be a good sport. This is not an unreasonable request, right?”
Everyone was afraid he would regret it and even used reverse psychology. Everyone wanted to see what kind of face was hidden under that mask.
Amidst the commotion, some whispered, “Once he shows his ugliness in front of everyone, I wonder if he will still have the face to keep pestering Young Master Jiang.”
“Someone should bring a mirror.”
Facing all those excited faces, Jian Tao’s fingers twisted together nervously. He looked sideways at Jiang Shi, only to find the man looking completely indifferent. He was not concerned at all, leaving the others to force him to remove the mask.
Jiang Chengli also saw Jian Tao’s predicament, but he had no intention of stopping it. He was not that kind-hearted toward Jian Tao, and he too was curious about the face under the mask.
“Young Master Jian, is there a problem?” Jiang Chengli asked, staring at the mask. One could imagine the tragic state of a face disfigured by a car accident, so using a game to force the mask off definitely carried an element of humiliation.
But what could be done? Jian Tao was a laughingstock in their circle. At such a point, no one would speak up for him, and he had brought it on himself.
Jian Tao’s hand reached for the mask. He took a deep breath. “Alright.”
Since even the male lead Su Wen had no reaction after seeing his intact face, surely these people would not mind either. He would just use the same excuse he gave Su Wen: that his face had been cured while he was abroad.
Everyone’s eyes widened as they stared at Jian Tao. Some even took out their phones to record, waiting to capture his hideous state.
However, in the next moment, as the mask came off, there was no burst of mocking laughter. Instead, it became terrifyingly quiet, filled only with the sound of suppressed gasps.
When that face was revealed, it seemed to carry a dazzling radiance. All the details that had gone unnoticed before now became manifest. In truth, Jian Tao’s skin was so white it seemed to glow, and his physique was exceptionally beautiful with well-proportioned bones, a slender waist, and long legs.
His looks surpassed even those of top celebrities. Although his face carried the paleness of long-term illness, it did not detract from his beauty at all. Instead, it added a fragile sense of shattered beauty. Surrounded by the crowd, his eyes held a layer of mist, and his lashes trembled timidly.
“Actually, my face was cured when I was abroad,” Jian Tao said in a sincere, convincing tone. “The technology abroad is really excellent.”
However, no one was listening to his serious explanation. They only felt their hearts beating a little too fast.
