- The Delicate Beauty Grabbed the Cannon Fodder Villain’s Script [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 5 - The Sickly Beauty Dropped His Mask
After returning from the banquet, Jian Tao fell ill that very night with a fever that left him bedridden. While such a condition was regular for this sickly body, Jian Tao knew clearly that the reason he had collapsed without warning was purely due to the events in the lounge that night. He was scared into it.
Lying on the bed, Jian Tao felt weak and soft, completely drained of strength. His face was flushed with fever, and he had lost all of his usual arrogant young master momentum.
Looking at Su Wen, who was standing by after setting aside the lunch, he could only say weakly, “Help me up.”
Su Wen complied, only to hear him follow up with, “Feed me.”
Su Wen raised an eyebrow. His long, narrow eyes behind the lenses showed no fluctuation, as if silently questioning how unreasonable this request was.
Jian Tao also felt ashamed, but his body was so weak that moving a finger was a struggle. He needed someone to feed him regardless. “I have no strength in my body.”
The hand Su Wen had resting at his side twitched. The current Jian Tao looked incredibly pitiable. Those exceptionally beautiful eyes were rimmed with red, and when he looked up, it was as if he were pleading. “Alright.”
Spoon by spoon, the porridge was fed into Jian Tao’s mouth. Due to the fever, his lips had become a vivid red. Leaning against the headboard as if he were boneless, his entire being exuded a kind of colorful, decadent fragility.
“I want to eat the vegetables.” Jian Tao glared dissatisfiedly at the man in the sharp suit beside the bed. The other man was tall and sturdy, currently looming over him in a way that felt all-encompassing, like a sickly kitten that might knock over a tiger’s food bowl at any moment.
That look was more akin to acting spoiled. Su Wen placed the spoon back in the bowl, then picked up some greens and delivered them to Jian Tao’s mouth. The latter parted his lips slightly, eating the vegetables bit by bit. The veins on Su Wen’s hand became prominent as a tender tongue licked away a drop of vegetable juice from those lips.
Su Wen’s fingertip brushed against the corner of his mouth. It was softer and more delicate than imagined. Under Jian Tao’s confused gaze, he wiped away the residue, leaving a faint red mark behind.
After resting at home for nearly a week, Jian Tao was fully recovered, but he still didn’t particularly like getting out of bed. The life of having clothes brought to his hands and food brought to his mouth was simply too comfortable.
He had even bought a pair of walkie-talkies to better order Su Wen around. They were more convenient than a phone. As long as he spoke into the device, the other side would receive his voice immediately.
For example, right now, Jian Tao spoke into the walkie-talkie, “Su Wen, bring my lunch up.”
The reply came quickly, “Yes, Young Master.”
Su Wen tucked the walkie-talkie into his trouser pocket, went to the kitchen to get Jian Tao’s lunch, walked through the corridor, and opened the bedroom door. Seeing the person on the bed, the feeling suddenly became somewhat strange, like a kitten in this room waiting to be fed by him every day. Unconsciously, a hint of pleasure rose in his heart.
Jian Tao no longer needed to be fed. Once the tray was placed on the bed table, he began to eat on his own. Su Wen stood to the side, quietly watching him consume the food. The color of those lips had faded slightly, but they would redden again while he was eating.
“Young Master, Jiang Shi and Jiang Chengli are departing for Luoyan Mountain this afternoon. I remember you mentioned wanting to go,” Su Wen stated.
Upon hearing this, Jian Tao immediately bristled. His eyes, framed by thick lashes, overflowed with irritation. “Of course I am going! That unreliable Jiang Chengli actually didn’t tell me!”
A slight curve appeared at the corner of Su Wen’s mouth. They had invited him to go, and if he went, this Young Master Jian would naturally find out. “Then pack your things now. We leave immediately.”
Jian Tao climbed out of bed at once and had Su Wen gather some necessities. Jian Tao went to the balcony to take down the birdcage. Since they were going to the mountains, walking the bird there would naturally be better.
By the time he carried the birdcage downstairs, Su Wen was already waiting in the car. They first drove to a designated meeting point to switch to off-road vehicles for the drive into the mountains.
Half an hour later, Jian Tao saw the group’s gathering spot. Jiang Shi and Jiang Chengli were leaning against a car smoking, seemingly waiting for them.
There were about ten people in the group. Jian Tao had also called Shen Ran and Zhao Kuo. These two were his lackeys, making it easier to order them around. Upon learning they were going with Jiang Shi’s group, the two were more than eager.
The car door opened, and Jian Tao stepped out. Jiang Chengli and Jiang Shi, who were originally coming to greet them, froze.
Jiang Chengli looked at the masked person. “He actually came.”
Jiang Shi said crossly, “It is all because of your big mouth.”
“I,” Jiang Chengli was also incredibly regretful. Having Jian Tao follow along was equivalent to a massive headache. “Damn, I must have had a brain cramp at the time.”
As soon as Jian Tao got out of the car, he looked at Jiang Chengli reproachfully. “Jiang Chengli! You actually didn’t tell me you were leaving today!”
“It is my fault, I was so busy I forgot. It is a good thing you’re here, Young Master Jian. Quick, get in the car.” Jiang Chengli diligently ushered Jian Tao into the vehicle. He was a smooth talker and could give anyone a smiling face.
Su Wen joined them in the car, sitting next to Jian Tao. Jian Tao looked out the window. Jiang Shi seemed to want to sit in another car but was pulled back by Jiang Chengli and stuffed into the passenger seat.
The car door slammed shut. Jiang Chengli walked around the front and took the driver’s seat. “Departure time, everyone.”
Starting at this hour, it would take over three hours to reach the destination. They said that by the time they arrived, they would just catch the sunset.
The atmosphere in the car was not great. Jiang Shi had been wearing a sour face since getting in, leaving Jiang Chengli to carry the rhythm and ease the tension.
Jian Tao tended to get sleepy as soon as he got in a car. It was at this moment that System 250 issued a new task regarding Jiang Shi.
“New task online: Target the protagonist to increase hatred points.”
“A two-pronged approach. Get the protagonist and the male lead on a united front. After the marriage, you will be suppressed by both of them together. The speed of your departure from this world is proportional to their level of loathing toward you.”
After 250 finished the announcement, Jian Tao subconsciously glanced at Jiang Shi through the rearview mirror. He saw the other man’s eyebrows slightly furrowed with an impatient expression, as if being in the same space as Jian Tao was utterly repulsive.
Jian Tao curled his lips into a smile. He felt this task was far too easy to complete. He then leaned his head onto Su Wen’s shoulder and closed his eyes to rest.
The journey was long and a bit bumpy. The mask on Jian Tao’s face had slipped askew, revealing a small portion of his profile.
Jiang Chengli, who had been focused on driving, had, at some unknown point, started glancing at Jian Tao in the back through the rearview mirror from time to time. Just like at the banquet that day, his gaze was inexplicably drawn.
Just as his heart began to itch with the desire to see that mask fall off, a large hand steadily adjusted the mask back into place. Immediately following that, he met Su Wen’s heavy, somber gaze through the reflection of his lenses.
