The Delicate Beauty Grabbed the Cannon Fodder Villain’s Script [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 18
Everyone inside the villa rushed out as soon as they spotted the helicopters circling above.
“I told you there was nothing to worry about! Someone was bound to come for us.”
“Of course! When you’re with Jiang Shi, you never have to be afraid, no matter where you go.”
The group gathered at the entrance, luggage in hand, waiting for the helicopters to descend and take them home. They waved frantically at the aircraft, but the pilots seemed not to notice, showing no signs of landing just yet.
It wasn’t until Jiang Shi and the others returned from the woods that the group realized with surprise that Jiang Mu had already touched down. On second thought, it wasn’t that strange; Jiang Mu was famously protective of his younger brother. Once he spotted Jiang Shi in the mountains, it was only natural he would regroup with him first.
“My brother sent the helicopters to pick us up. Everyone, get ready to leave,” Jiang Shi said with a smile. He was delighted by Jiang Mu’s arrival; his brother was always reliable.
The crowd chorused their thanks. Seeing the harmonious atmosphere, Zhao Kuo and Shen Ran wanted to step forward to curry favor with Jiang Mu, but they were immediately pulled back by someone who warned them in a low hiss, “Stay away from Jiang Mu if you value your life.”
Startled, the two exchanged glances and looked toward Jiang Mu. After a moment, they sensed the anomaly. From beginning to end, Jiang Mu hadn’t spared them a single glance. His face was expressionless, and his pale eyes were filled with nothing but cold indifference. Having recently arrived in City A, they had heard rumors about him; seeing him in person made them realize that if they had been reckless just now, there was no telling what the consequences would have been.
At that moment, Jiang Mu pulled a walkie-talkie from his pocket and commanded, “Begin extraction.”
Jiang Chengli walked over with a laugh and slung an arm around Jian Tao’s shoulder. “Are you riding in the same helicopter as me, Tao Tao?”
Before Jian Tao could answer, Jiang Shi yanked him away. “He’s sitting with me.”
“Sitting with you? Won’t you two just start fighting again?” Before Jiang Chengli could finish, he felt a piercingly cold gaze. He looked up and met Jiang Mu’s eyes. His heart tightened instantly. Among this group of wealthy heirs, there wasn’t anyone he truly feared, except for Jiang Mu. He had been afraid of him since they were children; Jiang Mu never seemed quite human, and meeting his gaze for even a few seconds was enough to break out in a cold sweat.
Since Jiang Mu was present and clearly siding with his brother, Jiang Chengli decided not to push it. “Fine, but you aren’t allowed to bully Tao Tao.”
Jiang Shi let out a “tch” of disdain. “What happens between us is none of your business.”
The helicopter landed. Jiang Mu took the co-pilot seat first, while Jian Tao sat in the back, placing his birdcage by his feet and tightly clutching the water bottle containing his little fish.
When Jiang Shi climbed in, he accidentally kicked the birdcage, earning an immediate glare from Jian Tao. Jiang Shi rolled his eyes back and said sarcastically, “I’ve never seen you care this much about a person.”
Jian Tao moved the cage to his other side and replied pointedly, “I care about people, but unfortunately, they don’t appreciate it.”
Jiang Shi was about to snap back when the helicopter took off, the deafening roar of the rotors drowning out his voice.
Jian Tao looked down at the people below who were growing smaller by the second. He suddenly saw Su Wen looking up, which made him realize with a jolt that the underwear he changed out of this morning was still on the bed. His face turned beet-red instantly. He grabbed his phone and fired off a message to Su Wen: “Take the underwear off my bed!”
Leaving other things behind would have been fine, but leaving something like that felt too strange. Worried that Su Wen might already be boarding a helicopter, he grabbed his walkie-talkie as well. “Check your messages!”
Below, he saw Su Wen reach into his pocket and pull out his phone. After reading the message, Jian Tao thought he saw Su Wen smile, though he wasn’t sure if it was just his imagination.
Su Wen tucked his phone back into his pocket and headed into the villa. He was in a good mood. Seeing Jian Tao board the helicopter made him anticipate the near future: Jian Tao would soon marry into the Jiang family, only to discover on his wedding day that he had been deceived by Jiang Shi. The man he was actually marrying was Jiang Mu, the rumored monster.
Would he still be so fixated on Jiang Shi then? If a person hasn’t given up hope, things are difficult to handle. But once the heart dies, there are many ways to manage them.
Su Wen went upstairs and pushed open the bedroom door. He saw the white underwear tossed carelessly on the bed. He picked it up, examined it closely in his hand for a moment, and then tucked it into his pocket after checking his phone again.
Up in the air, Jiang Shi was still brooding over the conversation they hadn’t finished. “What did you say just now? The noise was too loud, I couldn’t hear you.”
Jian Tao, still reeling from the embarrassment of the underwear incident, looked at him blankly. “What? What did I say?”
Jiang Shi grew impatient. “You said you care about people, but they don’t appreciate it.”
“Oh. So? You remembered it, why are you asking me?” Jian Tao thought he was being bizarre.
Jiang Shi took a deep breath, let out a huff, and then muttered, “You could always try again now.”
While Jian Tao was still confused, Jiang Mu turned his head from the front seat and asked without warning, “Mr. Jian Tao, do you have any thoughts regarding the date of the wedding?”
Jian Tao blinked, thought for a moment, and then said, “The sooner the better, of course.”
Hearing this, the corners of Jiang Shi’s mouth curled up uncontrollably. He looked at Jian Tao; the boy was still so eager to marry him.
“Oh,” Jiang Mu replied knowingly. Then he asked, “How about next month?”
Jian Tao wanted the plot to move as fast as possible. “That works.”
Meanwhile, Jiang Shi was thinking: My brother must still think I loathe Jian Tao. How can I tell him I’ve changed my mind without looking like I’m just being impulsive again?
At that moment, Jiang Mu nodded and said coldly, “I understand.”
Seeing the questioning was over, Jian Tao breathed a sigh of relief. Marrying quickly meant accelerating the story; he definitely preferred it that way.
Outside the window, mountain ranges rose and fell. Jiang Mu gazed at the lush greenery, recalling the scene of seeing Jian Tao in the woods earlier. He suddenly remarked, “Mr. Jian Tao, I feel you are very suited for this place.”
Jian Tao felt a sudden chill run down his spine. He had indeed been a relentless pest to Jiang Shi and had done many loathsome things. He feared that once he married into the family, Jiang Mu would take revenge for his brother by exiling him to this remote place as punishment!
He wasn’t the only one thinking this. Even Jiang Shi had the same thought. His brother had always been a man of few words and decisive action, like a heartless machine!
How on earth am I going to make him change his mind about Jian Tao?
