The Delicate Beauty Grabbed the Cannon Fodder Villain’s Script [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 17
Early the next morning, Jiang Shi sent people out to scout the path. After a full day of rain that had only stopped at midnight, mountain roads were prone to landslides and accidents; it was better to check the situation before moving out.
Most of the group was gathered in the first-floor lobby, except for Jian Tao, who was still sleeping upstairs. Wanting to let him rest, they decided not to wake him until it was officially time to leave.
Half an hour later, the scouts returned, shaking their heads. “There’s been a landslide further down. The road is blocked; we can’t get through.”
Upon hearing this, Shen Ran and Zhao Kuo immediately grew tense. “What do we do? The food we brought will only last another half-day.”
“Exactly. And the nearby signal tower must have been damaged by the wind last night—there’s no reception at all,” Zhao Kuo added anxiously. He was becoming increasingly frustrated, even silently blaming Jiang Shi for choosing such a remote, godforsaken location.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Shi offered no comfort. Instead, he shot them a warning look and said coldly, “Shut up.”
With that, he sat down at the dining table in the kitchen. “Everyone eat breakfast first. There’s no rush to leave.”
Shen Ran and Zhao Kuo were stunned. He’s not worried? While they would surely get out eventually, staying longer meant going hungry. These pampered young masters had never experienced such hardship.
They didn’t dare voice their complaints, but Zhao Xingdi, who had become friendly with them over the past few days, leaned in to whisper, “You’re new to this circle, so you probably don’t know. Jiang Shi has an incredibly powerful older brother. Forget being stranded here—whether it’s heaven or hell, that man can find him instantly.”
Shen Ran and Zhao Kuo were skeptical, thinking it sounded like an exaggeration, though they had heard the name. “You mean Jiang Mu, right?”
Zhao Xingdi nodded enigmatically. “I bet you anything Jiang Mu will be here before noon.”
Jian Tao’s sleep had been fairly peaceful. He woke up around nine o’clock, feeling groggy. Following his usual habit, he walked to the window to check on his little fish and feed his bird.
However, the moment he reached the window, he was jolted wide awake. Floating in his fish tank were several dead little fish. Jian Tao’s face went blank for a second before tears began to stream down his cheeks.
He saw a thick layer of birdseed settled at the bottom of the tank and knew instantly that the fish had died from overeating it. He remembered that only Jiang Shi had been by the window last night. “It must have been him… hic… Jiang Shi killed my fish just to get back at me…”
Jian Tao sobbed until he was hiccuping. He was heartbroken; he had cared for them so diligently over the last few days, only for them to be fed to death.
In this strange world, he only wanted a few small pets to keep him company, yet someone still plotted to harm them.
“Tao Tao, don’t cry. Let’s go give Jiang Shi a piece of our mind,” 250 comforted him.
Jian Tao wiped his tears. “Can I really get mad at him? I’m supposed to like him so much…”
“The original owner was very protective of his pets. If anyone touched them without permission, he’d break their hands. So, when it comes to your pets, even if it’s the person you like, losing your temper fits the persona,” 250 explained.
Hearing this, Jian Tao indignantly grabbed his phone from the bedside and dialed Jiang Shi’s number. The call was picked up almost instantly. The moment it connected, Jian Tao screamed, “Jiang Shi, get over here right now!”
Downstairs, Jiang Shi was eating porridge. Seeing it was Jian Tao calling, he had answered with a growing smile, but before he could even speak, Jian Tao’s tearful roar nearly made him drop his phone into his bowl.
After the call was unceremoniously cut, Jiang Shi jumped up and sprinted upstairs. Why was Jian Tao crying? What happened?
Jiang Shi took the stairs three or four at a time, leaving the people downstairs whispering. He burst into the room and stood before Jian Tao, still catching his breath. Jian Tao’s eyes and nose were red, and his gaze was full of accusation. “Look at this! Is this your handiwork?”
Jiang Shi was stunned for a moment. He walked to the windowsill, looking confused until he saw the fish tank. He rubbed his nose. “It’s just a few little fish. Is it worth all this? You’re actually crying…”
Jian Tao grew even angrier. He opened his mouth to speak, but fresh tears betrayed him and rolled down his face. His exquisite features looked incredibly delicate and pitiful. “What do you mean ‘just a few little fish’? Do you know how carefully I looked after them every day? And you… you actually dumped birdseed into the tank…”
Jiang Shi hadn’t expected such a strong reaction. Feeling flustered, he said somewhat stiffly, “I’ll catch some more for you, alright?”
He still felt they were just fish, but he didn’t want to see Jian Tao cry anymore.
“Can the fish you catch ever compare to mine!” Jian Tao shouted. Jiang Shi was startled by the outburst. Jian Tao sobbed, wiped his tears, and said fiercely, “Go catch them right now!”
Jiang Shi swallowed hard. He finally realized that no matter how cold or disgusted he acted toward Jian Tao, the boy would still cling to him but he should never, ever touch Jian Tao’s pets, or there would be hell to pay.
Accompanied by two locals familiar with the mountain paths, they arrived at the riverbank. After a day of heavy rain, the water level had risen.
Zhao Xingdi and Shen Ran watched as Jiang Shi prepared to enter the river. They couldn’t help but frown; they were currently wearing jackets just to be in the mountains, so the water was bound to be freezing.
The two exchanged glances. Is Young Master Jiang actually catching feelings for Jian Tao? Otherwise, why go this far?
When Jiang Shi’s feet touched the water, he winced. He cursed internally, wondering why he was being led by the nose by Jian Tao like an absolute idiot.
He looked back to see Jian Tao holding the birdcage, watching him like a stern supervisor. Giving up the struggle, Jiang Shi plunged into the river.
This is definitely the stupidest thing I’ve done in my life. There will never be a second time, he thought, gritting his teeth.
Seeing him in the river, Jian Tao turned away to explore elsewhere. He was sick of looking at Jiang Shi right now. Since this was their last day in the mountains, he wanted to give Little White a good tour.
Just as Jian Tao was admiring the flora, five helicopters flew overhead.
The massive roar of the engines made him look up. In that moment, the sight was magnificent.
Help had arrived.
There was no place for a helicopter to land on the mountainside, so the five crafts circled above.
Jiang Mu sat in the co-pilot seat of the lead helicopter. The door was open, and his expression was grim as he surveyed the ground through binoculars.
He stopped the pilot from heading toward the villa because he had spotted Jiang Shi. “Ten o’clock position.”
As the helicopter began to descend toward that direction, Jiang Mu’s hand paused on the binoculars. He spoke again, “A bit more to the left. There’s someone there. Drop me off there.”
Jiang Mu tossed the binoculars aside. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he loosened his tie, his eyes fixed on the small black dot below.
Jian Tao was enjoying his final moments of peace when a helicopter suddenly descended directly over his head. The wind from the rotors made the surrounding leaves rustle violently.
Jian Tao’s hair was blown into a mess. He squinted upward and saw a man climbing down a rope ladder. Once the man hit the ground, he waved his hand, and the helicopter climbed back into the sky.
When Jian Tao recognized the man, his heart tightened. He immediately remembered their first encounter in the banquet lounge—fear and nervousness washed over him.
Jiang Mu walked toward him step by step, pulling off his white gloves. His face was stern and devoid of expression. His skin had a deathly paleness from a lack of sunlight, which only added a sense of gloom to his superior features.
“Jian Tao, we meet again.” Jiang Mu’s eyes were light tea-colored, and his gaze was devoid of warmth, creating an immense sense of pressure.
Jian Tao’s face froze. He gave an awkward smile. “It’s you…”
It seemed he had left a very deep impression last time; otherwise, how could the man recognize him so easily?
Without warning, Jiang Mu raised his hand and touched Jian Tao’s soft cheek. His cold eyes remained motionless, but his eyelashes flickered for a brief second. “You aren’t wearing your mask anymore.”
Jian Tao instinctively dodged the touch, causing Jiang Mu to frown. It seemed he felt that Jian Tao shouldn’t have moved away.
From the moment he saw Jian Tao from above, seeing the face behind the mask, he thought the boy was beautiful beyond words. Surrounded by the greenery of the mountain forest, holding a birdcage with an innocent, dazed expression… he looked like a forest spirit. He was too beautiful.
Just as Jian Tao was screaming for help in his head, Jiang Shi finally ran over. He had originally intended to excitedly clap Jiang Mu on the shoulder, but as he drew near, he hesitated. His tone shifted to one of pure excitement. “Brother, you’re here!”
