The Days I Was Secretly Loved by the All-Girls School Beauties - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
But Yun Zhan was stubbornly, fatally naive.
She didn’t understand the ambiguous hints unique to the same sex; she was completely at a loss when faced with sudden physical intimacy. She had simply followed her heart—because she was afraid of the pain, she had closed her mouth around those fingers.
Thinking of this, Pei Yanxi’s breathing grew ragged. A girl so clean, licking her fingers so timidly, that look in her eyes… Pei Yanxi truly couldn’t handle it.
For the first time, she felt that her own behavior had been so inappropriate, so excessive. Especially when those doe-like eyes crashed into her line of sight, Pei Yanxi knew she had completely lost her composure.
She pulled her fingers away in a panic, no longer possessing the courage to meet Yun Zhan’s gaze.
“Do you understand? In short… the position of your tongue determines your pronunciation.”
As Pei Yanxi turned back, her thick, fluffy black hair concealed the unnatural tremor in her pupils.
The finger that Yun Zhan had licked was already hidden within the fabric of her suit. When facing the other students, Pei Yanxi maintained that same icy facade. She continued the lecture with a calm face, as if the preceding events had never occurred.
The podium was far from the students’ seats. Only Pei Yanxi knew that her nails were already digging into her palms; even the sharp pain couldn’t make her fully forget that heart-pounding scene.
During the latter half of the class, Pei Yanxi became the one hiding. She didn’t dare look at Yun Zhan again, only allowing her peripheral vision to sweep over the figure in the corner.
Time ticked by, and finally, at 9:30 AM, the grueling Spanish class ended.
Yun Zhan let out a long sigh of relief. She flopped onto the desk, utterly disregarding her image, and fell asleep instantly. She was exhausted. Yun Zhan didn’t consider herself a language genius; learning a completely foreign language in a completely foreign world while hiding her outsider identity under the gaze of so many people was a challenge on par with a spy thriller.
“I hate Spanish class, I hate Spanish class…” Yun Zhan was burying her head and mumbling when someone suddenly tapped on her desk.
“Student Yun Zhan, Senior Pei wants to see you. Please come to the office.” The person calling her was a girl with glasses, whose expression seemed full of dissatisfaction.
Yun Zhan looked up. She clearly saw the disdain and loathing in the girl’s eyes.
Ah, haha. It’s probably because my Spanish was so terrible… Perhaps to these people, she looked like a “country bumpkin,” and yet somehow a “fallen noble” like her had crossed paths with Pei Yanxi.
Pei Yanxi was beautiful, and Yun Zhan knew very well that she had no shortage of admirers. As expected, she really should keep her distance from Pei Yanxi; it would be best to have as little contact as possible until the mission ended.
“Understood.” Yun Zhan peeled her eyes open and followed listlessly behind.
“Senior, I’ve brought her.” The girl knocked on the door and gave Yun Zhan a silent glare from behind as she left.
Yun Zhan: “…”
As soon as she entered the office, Pei Yanxi quickly set down her pen and sat upright before her. Having just finished subbing, she hadn’t had time to change out of her suit. She took off the black blazer, revealing the pure white shirt underneath.
“Sit down first. There is brewed tea on the table; I don’t know if you’ll like it.” Her voice was still cold yet melodious. Pei Yanxi tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her exquisite profile reflected in the vanity mirror to the side.
“Does Senior have something to discuss with me?” Yun Zhan didn’t touch the tea. She just wanted to leave quickly.
“In the future… if a teacher or student uses their fingers to touch your tongue, don’t let them. You must know how to refuse.” Pei Yanxi hadn’t expected Yun Zhan to be so direct; her fingertips trembled imperceptibly.
“But Senior did it too… If it’s truly for practicing Spanish, I don’t think it’s a big deal.” Yun Zhan propped her chin on her hand, studying the speechless girl before her with interest. She didn’t understand Pei Yanxi’s logic; if Pei Yanxi was the first to offend her, why was she forbidding others from doing the same?
“Do you truly not understand, or are you pretending? Do you know what you just…” Pei Yanxi’s brows furrowed slightly, a rare show of emotion. She wanted to say that such things were highly suggestive in a girls’ school… but the words wouldn’t come out.
Yun Zhan was right. She had been the one to offend her first. Pei Yanxi was arrogant, but she was not unreasonable. Perhaps Yun Zhan truly didn’t understand, and she was just overthinking it…
“What should I understand? All I know is that you hurt me. It really hurt.” Yun Zhan’s tone took on a hint of grievance. Under the fluorescent lights, crystalline glints appeared at the corners of her eyes.
Pei Yanxi froze. Scalding tea choked her lungs. She didn’t even think to wipe her clothes stained by the tea; an apology blurted out.
“I’m sorry… I… it’s my fault. I offended you.”
“If Senior has nothing else, I’ll be leaving.” Yun Zhan was truly upset, but not because of the episode with Pei Yanxi—it was because Spanish was just too hard to learn. Also, she didn’t want to chat with Pei Yanxi right now. By feigning an emotional outburst, she could make Pei Yanxi feel guilty enough to let her go.
Yun Zhan thought back. Dammit, I was only in class for an hour and a half and I received over ten contemptuous glares…
“Yun Zhan!” Pei Yanxi stood up abruptly. Watching Yun Zhan’s retreating back, she couldn’t help but say, “The Forbidden Room isn’t a scary place. It might not be a good place for others, but for you, it’s just a place to temporarily contain you.”
Yun Zhan didn’t reply and kept walking. She really wasn’t in the mood to talk. The Forbidden Room wouldn’t hurt anyone irrelevant; that was a long-standing tradition at Minton Academy.
“You like the little junior?”
Xue Qi happened to be passing by and accidentally stumbled upon the scene of Pei Yanxi chasing after the underclassman. Xue Qi and Pei Yanxi’s elders had cooperated years ago, so the two grew up together and later joined the same club. Their relationship was naturally better than average friends.
“I just had something to explain to her.”
Pei Yanxi turned her head away, instinctively making an excuse. She had never been in a relationship, didn’t know how to be in one, and had never even entertained the thought of loving someone.
“Really? Then I’m going for it. I noticed her the moment she enrolled. Such a stunning beauty—if you’re not chasing her, I am.” Xue Qi took her at her word, her eyes lighting up.
“Xue Qi, if you have so much free time, come help me handle these matters.”
An inexplicable irritation rose in Pei Yanxi’s heart. She really wanted to shut Xue Qi’s chattering mouth. She hadn’t found her so noisy before; today, for some reason, her patience was nonexistent.
