- Chapter 2 - Friend? Does She Want a Confrontation?
Su Yang’s entire body froze.
She could feel Wen Yusheng’s finger still resting on the back of her neck. That slightly cool touch felt like an electric current, numbing half of her body. The cold, woody fragrance emanating from Wen Yusheng became incredibly aggressive at this moment, wrapping around her so tightly that there was nowhere to escape.
Compensation?
Compensation for what?
Su Yang’s mind was a chaotic mess. Her instinct was to explain, to say that the person sitting across from her was her cousin, not some random person. But under the gaze of Wen Yusheng’s bottomless eyes, she couldn’t utter a single word.
She felt like a criminal caught red-handed, while Wen Yusheng was the judge holding all the evidence, simply waiting for her to confess.
She didn’t even dare to look at Wen Yusheng’s expression; she could only stare deathly at the plate of steak in front of her, which had already gone cold, as if she could see flowers blooming on it.
Wen Yusheng’s words continued to echo in her ears.
“It seems your physical stamina is indeed quite good; you still have the energy to accompany others for dinner.”
“Then tonight… shouldn’t you compensate me properly?”
Su Yang’s heart beat so fast she suspected it would jump out of her throat the next second. She didn’t understand why she was so nervous, so guilty.
Clearly, she had done nothing wrong.
Eating a meal with her own cousin, wasn’t that perfectly normal?
But why, when Wen Yusheng appeared, did she have the hallucination of being caught in bed during an affair?
Especially when Wen Yusheng used that light, seductive voice to say the word “compensation,” Su Yang felt her cheeks instantly burst into flames. She didn’t even dare to think deeply about what kind of compensation Wen Yusheng actually wanted.
Opposite them, Su Zhou was also dumbfounded.
She looked at her cousin’s pathetic state—resembling a drenched puppy—and then at this beautiful woman whose aura was so powerful she didn’t dare look her in the eye. The little radar in her heart began to beep frantically.
This situation wasn’t right.
It was very much not right.
Everything this woman said sounded like a primary wife reprimanding a cheating partner.
But hadn’t her cousin said she was a “steel-straight” girl who could never possibly like women in this lifetime?
Su Zhou’s gaze swept back and forth between the two, finally landing on Wen Yusheng’s hand resting on Su Yang’s shoulder. That hand was far too beautiful—fingers long and slender, skin fair, with dark red nails glinting under the lights with a faint, ghostly glow, carrying a fatal allure. Yet, such a beautiful hand currently acted like an invisible chain, locking her “fearless” cousin firmly in place.
Su Zhou swallowed hard, feeling as though she had discovered some shocking secret.
This cousin of hers was usually a prominent figure at the sports academy—176 cm tall, with a tight physique honed from years of exercise, and a clean, refreshing face. She was the “lesbian-circle dream girl” for countless underclassmen. Yet now, in front of this beautiful woman with long black hair, she was as obedient as a quail.
This was absolutely not a normal “senior-junior” relationship.
Su Zhou’s eyes flickered; an idea instantly formed in her mind. She decided to observe quietly first and see how things played out.
As for Wen Yusheng, a tidal wave of fury was surging in her heart.
However, her face remained fixed with an impeccable smile.
She quite enjoyed Su Yang’s current reaction.
That stiffness, that helplessness, that expression written all over with “I was wrong”—it gratified her immensely.
This proved that she still held weight in this disobedient puppy’s heart.
But just this wasn’t enough.
Wen Yusheng’s gaze fell upon Su Yang’s face again. She saw that the tips of Su Yang’s ears were flushed deep red, like ripe cherries, making one want to take a bite.
Wen Yusheng’s eyes darkened.
She remembered the way Su Yang had been smiling at that girl just moments ago.
That smile was too dazzling.
Wen Yusheng had always felt that Su Yang’s smile belonged to her alone.
It was the only sunlight she could see during those most exhausting days when she was troubled by family affairs.
She loved seeing Su Yang, drenched in sweat after playing on the court, run up to her and look up with a smile, eyes sparkling like stars.
She loved it when Su Yang, after helping her move heavy objects, would smile at her while wiping away sweat, revealing a hint of silliness and pride.
She loved every smile Su Yang directed at her.
But she did not like it. In fact, she loathed Su Yang showing that kind of smile to others.
Especially to a girl she didn’t know, who even looked quite pleasant.
That smile felt as if someone had touched her exclusive property, causing a violent sense of possessiveness to rise from the depths of her heart.
She had to do something.
She had to make this puppy learn a lesson.
To let her know who her master was.
Wen Yusheng slowly straightened her body. The hand on Su Yang’s neck did not let go; instead, she used her fingertip to rub it neither too lightly nor too heavily.
Su Yang’s body stiffened again, and her Adam’s apple bobbed uncontrollably.
Wen Yusheng was very satisfied with this reaction.
She shifted her gaze away from Su Yang and looked once more at the girl in the floral dress who hadn’t spoken since the beginning.
“And how should I address this younger sister?” Wen Yusheng’s tone was so gentle it could practically drip water. “I am Yang-yang’s senior, Wen Yusheng.”
She deliberately emphasized the word “senior,” as if asserting her status.
Su Zhou blinked, thinking to herself, Here it comes, here it comes.
She immediately put on a well-behaved smile and replied sweetly, “Hello, Senior. My name is Su Zhou, I am Su Yang’s friend.”
She deliberately paused, not directly saying the word “cousin.”
When Wen Yusheng heard the word “friend,” the coldness in her eyes deepened.
A friend?
A friend who could make Su Yang smile so happily?
A friend whom Su Yang would actively feed cake to?
Wen Yusheng sneered inwardly.
She reached out her other hand and gently adjusted Su Yang’s slightly messy collar. The movement was intimate and natural, as if they had done this countless times before.
“Is that so?” Wen Yusheng said seemingly casually while tidying the clothes. “It’s my first time hearing Yang-yang mention you. It seems you two have a very good relationship.”
Su Yang felt like she was about to suffocate.
Wen Yusheng’s fingers occasionally brushed against her skin, bringing waves of tremors. She could feel the powerful pressure radiating from Wen Yusheng, making even her breathing become cautious.
“It’s… it’s alright,” Su Yang managed to squeeze out those few words.
“Just ‘alright’?” Wen Yusheng let out a soft laugh. She lowered her head, leaning close to Su Yang’s ear, and said in a voice only the two of them could hear, “Why do I feel like you two are so close you could share a pair of pants?”
That warm breath hit Su Yang’s ear, turning the entire thing bright red.
“No, Senior, listen to my explanation…” Su Yang grew anxious, finally finding her voice.
“Explanation?” Wen Yusheng interrupted her, her voice still light but carrying a hint of danger. “Fine, I’m listening. You’d better think clearly before you speak; my patience isn’t very good.”
Having said that, she straightened up, her face returning to that dignified and elegant smile.
Seeing Su Yang so anxious she looked ready to cry, the nameless fire in her heart finally dissipated a little.
This was the effect she wanted.
She wanted Su Yang to know that she could get angry, that she could be jealous.
She wanted Su Yang to understand that she was not just some ordinary “senior” who could be easily brushed off.
Wen Yusheng decided to add more fuel to the fire.
She wanted to completely declare her sovereignty in front of this “rival.”
She slowly raised her hand, preparing—as if rehearsed many times—to elegantly tilt Su Yang’s face toward her and give her a warning kiss.
This kiss wouldn’t be deep; it would just be a light touch, but it would be enough to make the girl opposite them back off, and enough to make this puppy, Su Yang, thoroughly remember this lesson.
The corner of Wen Yusheng’s mouth curled into an ambitious arc.
She was very satisfied with her plan.
However, at the very moment her fingertips were about to touch Su Yang’s cheek—
An unexpected change occurred.
The girl across from Su Yang—the one she had been treating as an imaginary enemy in the floral dress—suddenly stood up from her seat.
There was no trace of embarrassment or fear on the girl’s face. Instead, she wore a bright, surprised smile identical to the one Su Yang had shown earlier.
She ran around the table with light steps and hurried over to Wen Yusheng.
Wen Yusheng was stunned.
She didn’t understand what this girl was trying to do.
Did she want a face-to-face confrontation?
Wen Yusheng instinctively straightened her back, preparing to meet the challenge.
However, what happened next was completely beyond her expectations.
The girl named Su Zhou, after running up to her, actually opened her arms wide. Then, amidst Wen Yusheng’s complete shock, she gave her a firm, hearty hug.
Wen Yusheng’s entire body went rigid.
She could feel the warmth from the girl and a faint scent of fruit.
Her mind went blank, completely unable to process this sudden situation.
Immediately after, she heard the girl announce loudly in her ear, in an incredibly intimate, cheerful, and matter-of-fact tone:
“Sister-in-law! You’re finally here!”
