The Daily Face-Slapping of the Junior Tutor - Chapter 9
Given the river’s current, they should have reached her long ago. Why hadn’t they arrived yet? Had they stopped the boat?
Lu Nan scoffed. With escape routes blocked both ahead and behind, she wondered how they planned to flee.
“Select five fast boats and send them upstream with archers to surround that suspicious vessel,” she ordered the armored soldiers beside her from the riverbank.
“Yes, ma’am!”
Several fast boats immediately appeared on the river. The armored soldiers, their muscular arms gleaming, rowed with fierce strokes, propelling the small boats forward like arrows loosed from a bow, leaving long, rippling wakes in their wake.
Lu Nan used Qinggong to skim across the water, landing lightly on the nearest boat, ready to personally capture Gu Jintang.
“Hmph, Gu Jintang, you can’t escape now.” The thought of that deceitful crooked official made her knuckles crack as she clenched her slender fingers.
Let’s see how Gu Jintang explains herself this time.
Meanwhile, Gu Jintang lay unconscious on the deck, her face washed clean of soot and grime, revealing her true features.
She lay motionless, her face was barely the size of a palm and her fair cheeks adorned with glistening droplets of water. Thick, long lashes shadowed her lower eyelids, framing a delicate, upturned nose and crimson lips—a vision of breathtaking beauty.
They were momentarily stunned. Was this beggar even more beautiful than a man?
“Boss, this person looks strangely familiar,” one of them said, a peculiar glint in her eyes.
“Yeah, yeah, she’s way too gorgeous.”
They had initially planned to throw Gu Jintang overboard, but one of them glanced at her and declared, “I bet she’s a real beauty!”
The group then roughly washed Gu Jintang’s face with a basin of water, and they froze in shock at the sight.
At that moment, the Boss Lady’s eyes darkened as she said, “Have you forgotten that pretty boy from a few days ago? It’s her! Who would have thought she’d disguise herself as a beggar and sneak onto our ship?”
“It really is her!”
The women grew agitated, their lecherous desires practically leaping from their eyes.
Suddenly, a white dove swooped down from the sky and landed beside the Boss Lady. She untied the note from its leg, unfolded it, and her expression immediately turned grim.
“We can’t go upstream, and we’ve received a signal from the downstream checkpoint. There are government troops blocking our path. We’ll drop anchor and stop the ship for now.”
The women tensed at the news, hastily dropping anchor while grumbling incessantly.
“They weren’t this strict before! Is that damned Lu Nan trying to catch us all in one fell swoop?”
“Fuck! What do we do now? If we get caught, we’re dead!”
“Sigh… I was planning to pull off one last job and retire, but Lu Nan ruined everything.”
The Boss Lady pondered for a moment before saying, “Our only option is to abandon the ship and cargo. We all know how to swim. We’ll jump overboard and swim away.”
“Fine, fine. We can earn money later, but we only have one life. We’ll destroy the ship and jump into the river. The authorities won’t find any evidence anyway…”
“Pah! What fucking bad luck! Damn the government! Damn Lu Nan!”
“What about this woman?”
“What about her? You want to save her?”
“No, I want to play with her.”
The other women’s eyes lit up, and they began to chuckle lewdly.
“But she’s completely still. How can we play with her?”
“Wait, I remember there’s a packet of arousal drugs inside. I’ll give her some. She’ll wake up in agony soon enough. This stuff is potent…”
“Hurry, hurry! I can’t wait any longer, ha ha!”

The poor Gu Jintang was drugged. Before long, she frowned in discomfort as a burning sensation within her body gradually roused her.
Just as the women were about to undress her, a figure vaulted over the ship’s railing, landing nimbly on the deck.
“What are you still doing here? Get out of here now!” the newcomer barked, her expression unusually stern.
“Big sister?” The women froze, their hands still poised to undress Gu Jintang. They stared in astonishment at the woman, who looked no older than her early twenties.
Gu Jintang’s mind felt like a muddled haze. She groggily opened her eyes and glanced at the newcomer. The woman was dressed in sleek black attire, her movements agile and graceful, exuding an air of casual elegance. It was Xiao Jianyun, whom she had met before.
Xiao Jianyun strode toward her, her gaze fixing on Gu Jintang’s face. Her eyes flashed. “Gu Jintang?”
“What have you done to her?” The pressure emanating from Xiao Jianyun seemed to drop another degree, sending shivers down the women’s spines. “We… we just wanted to have some fun with her, Big sister! But she came aboard herself. We didn’t kidnap her!”
By now, Gu Jintang’s face was flushed crimson. She clung to Xiao Jianyun’s leg, her breath coming in ragged gasps, her eyes glazed with fever. “I feel so awful…” she moaned.
Xiao Jianyun bent down and touched Gu Jintang’s forehead. The shocking heat made her recoil, but Gu Jintang pressed closer, whimpering softly, “Save me… I feel so awful, waah…”
The other women’s eyes widened. Wow~ That voice is absolutely melting my heart.
“Big sister, should we… help her?” one of them couldn’t help but gulp.
Gu Jintang still retained a sliver of rationality. She bit her lower lip, her fingers digging into the person before her. I can’t let myself fall like this. I can’t let these people touch me.
Feeling the pain in her leg, Xiao Jianyun snapped back to her senses. Her gaze toward Gu Jintang was complex, but she knew how to weigh the pros and cons. Now wasn’t the time for pity, especially for someone she had only met once.
“What are you waiting for?” she barked coldly. “Retreat!”
“Yes, ma’am!” The women plunged into the river one after another.
Xiao Jianyun lowered her head, a flicker of something hidden in her eyes. She pried Gu Jintang’s fingers loose and whispered, “I can’t save you…”
With that, she turned and leaped off the ship.
“Ugh…” Gu Jintang’s eyes filled with tears as she struggled to her feet. She barely managed to reach the railing when the ship lurched violently, sending her sprawling back to the deck.
The hull below had been breached, and the ship was already listing dangerously. Fuck! Are they trying to kill me?
Rage and resentment surged through Gu Jintang, compounded by her feverish body. Her head swam, and she nearly fainted again.
She leaned weakly against the railing, her arms dangling. Another violent shudder of the ship sent her tumbling back to the deck. Black Widow was actually pretty good to me, she thought, feeling like she could cry but couldn’t. If only I had another chance…
By then, Lu Nan had arrived on a fast boat. Seeing the listing ship, she narrowed her eyes. Something’s not right here.
Suddenly, a figure plunged from the ship into the water. Lu Nan instantly recognized Gu Jintang.
Is Gu Jintang trying to escape by jumping into the river?
Lu Nan’s heart tightened. After a moment’s thought, she ordered the others to surround the ship while she dove into the river herself. Underwater, she held her breath and opened her eyes, only to see Gu Jintang slowly sinking from where she had jumped.
Her heart skipped a beat. Lu Nan swam swiftly toward Gu Jintang and caught her immediately.
The woman’s brow was furrowed in pain, bubbles escaping her lips as her struggles quickly weakened, as if she were on the verge of death.
Lu Nan shook Gu Jintang’s shoulder, but there was no response. Even the bubbles had stopped, leaving her limp as a dead fish.
“Gu…” Lu Nan instinctively called out, but choked on the water. She clamped her mouth shut and began swimming upward, pulling Gu Jintang with her. But Gu Jintang’s pulse grew fainter by the second, life and death hanging in the balance.
Without hesitation, Lu Nan pressed her lips to Gu Jintang’s, forced her teeth apart, and gave her a breath underwater.
Finally surfacing, Lu Nan tossed Gu Jintang onto a floating wooden plank and immediately began chest compressions. Gu Jintang coughed up two mouthfuls of water but remained unresponsive.
Lu Nan’s gaze flickered with conflict for a moment before she leaned down and began administering CPR. As she worked, she slapped Gu Jintang’s face, shouting, “Hey, Crooked Official, wake up!”
She lost track of how many times she performed CPR before Gu Jintang finally stirred awake.
Lu Nan finally breathed a sigh of relief, but before she could relax, Gu Jintang started acting up again.
Gu Jintang opened her large, teary eyes, looking like a wronged fawn. She squirmed slightly, her cheeks gradually flushing crimson, whether from the slaps or something else.
“I… I feel awful…” Gu Jintang’s voice was soft and trembling, with a hint of coquettishness. She reached out and wrapped her arms around Lu Nan’s neck, tugging her down with surprising strength.
Goosebumps prickled Lu Nan’s skin, and her anger flared anew. “Gu Jintang, behave yourself!”
The two women were currently perched on a flimsy wooden plank, which rocked precariously with Gu Jintang’s movements. Fortunately, the sinking ship still shielded them from view; otherwise, their earlier scene would have been exposed.
If word got out, Lu Nan’s lifelong reputation would be ruined in an instant.
Tears welled in Gu Jintang’s eyes as she pressed against Lu Nan relentlessly. “But… I feel so awful. Help me… I want a kiss.”
Her body felt like it was about to explode. Though she knew it was wrong, an overwhelming desire to sleep with Lu Nan consumed her mind. How disgusting…
Lu Nan pinned Gu Jintang’s legs with her own and gripped her arms tightly. “Snap out of it!” she snapped.
“Waaah…” Gu Jintang burst into tears, her eyes reddening as crystalline tears streamed down her face. Her head continued to thrash from side to side.
Seeing Gu Jintang’s erratic behavior, Lu Nan finally understood. Her heart sank had this crooked official been drugged? She immediately pulled Gu Jintang up and delivered a sharp chop to the back of her neck, knocking her unconscious.
“Lord Lu, you’re here!” A fast boat glided alongside.
Lu Nan scooped up Gu Jintang and carried her onto the small boat. “Take this vessel back with me,” she ordered. “The rest of you stay and search the sunken ship. Bring back any suspicious items you find.”
“Yes, my lord.”
Lu Nan tossed Gu Jintang casually onto the deck. Though unconscious, Gu Jintang was still visibly suffering, breaking out in a cold sweat and twitching restlessly.
“Hurry up,” Lu Nan said, frowning.
