- Chapter 5 - Good Girl: Does Sister Have a Girlfriend? (5)
Lu Huan arrived at the dormitory door and, before even pushing it open, she could hear her roommates talking inside.
“What’s the use of her good grades? She’s still a damn lesbian. I feel sick every time I see her.”
“Sisi, don’t say that,” another girl said. “Same-sex relationships have been legal for years now. Even our senior likes girls.”
“How can she compare to our senior?” Dong Sisi rolled her eyes. “She acts all innocent every day, and it makes me uncomfortable. I can’t even switch dorms.”
The girl who had been silent until now spoke up. “I saw her and her girlfriend at a bar today.”
“A bar?!” Dong Sisi’s voice rose an octave, as if she had heard something ridiculous. “Someone like her, at a bar? Don’t make me laugh.”
Just then, Lu Huan pushed the door open. The three girls who had been talking immediately fell silent and went about their business as if nothing had happened.
Lu Huan placed her bag on the table, took out the wet clothes from inside, fetched a basin from under her bed, and went to do her laundry.
When she went into the inner room to wash her clothes, the three girls exchanged glances but didn’t bring up the topic again.
Lu Huan rarely spoke, spending most of her time studying. In some people’s eyes, she always seemed aloof, as if she looked down on everyone.
That was why she had been bullied in high school and now, in college, her roommates talked behind her back.
In their eyes, she was an outcast, regardless of her academic performance.
After hanging her clothes on the balcony to dry, Lu Huan returned to the room and started on her homework. Her roommates’ reactions didn’t affect her at all, in the worlds she had traveled through before, she had faced far worse.
Jiang Wenshu’s favorability rating kept rising. It only stopped when Lu Huan finished her homework, washed up, and lay down in bed, finally settling at 50%.
Exactly in the middle not too much, not too little.
And it was all due to Jiang Wenshu’s guilt. After all, she was the one who had brought Lu Huan to the bar, and Anke was her friend. If anything happened to Lu Huan, she would bear a lot of responsibility.
Lu Huan didn’t care at all about Jiang Wenshu’s inner turmoil. What she cared about was the tattoo artist sister.
Since the other hadn’t taken the “bait” today, she would have to create another opportunity.
But there was no rush. She had plenty of time. With that thought, she closed her eyes, a smile on her lips, and drifted off to sleep.
The next day, as Lu Huan came down from the dormitory building, she saw Jiang Wenshu waiting for her at the entrance. Without stopping, she continued walking forward. Just as she was about to pass by, Jiang Wenshu reached out and stopped her.
“Huanhuan.” Jiang Wenshu smiled, her expression as natural as ever, as if nothing had happened the day before.
“Is something wrong?” Lu Huan looked at her.
People came and went, and those passing by would sneak glances at them. One was the academic genius, the other a social butterfly, they were two of the most well-known figures in the school. Whether it was students in their year or upperclassmen, everyone knew their names.
Especially Jiang Wenshu, the social butterfly, who could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere.
Just standing at the school gate for a short while, many people greeted her. But when Lu Huan arrived, they tactfully gave the two of them space.
Lu Huan was a loner who couldn’t hold a conversation with anyone for more than two sentences. Because of this, many people noticed her but didn’t dare approach her.
Every day, Jiang Wenshu would wait downstairs for Lu Huan so they could go to the cafeteria together, then head to the teaching building. Everyone already knew the two were dating.
But today, the atmosphere between them felt off.
“Huanhuan, what do you want to eat today? Same as yesterday?” Jiang Wenshu asked, walking beside her.
Lu Huan stopped and looked at her. “I’ll tally up all the things you gave me tonight and pay you back in cash.” After saying this, she walked away without another glance, just like in high school when Jiang Wenshu confessed to her over and over, and she rejected her each time before turning away without looking back.
Jiang Wenshu’s face turned grim.
Through the system’s prompt showing a drop in favorability, Lu Huan knew Jiang Wenshu was displeased with her right now.
But so what? It’s not like she could go for someone just because they’re straightforward, even if they’re scummy and deceitful. She wasn’t a trash can knowingly pursuing a jerk would be either foolish or downright idiotic.
Her roommate had issues with her and didn’t wait for her. Lu Huan went to class alone and finished her morning lessons.
She had no classes in the afternoon. Normally, the original host would study in the dorm during this time, but Lu Huan didn’t want to waste so much time.
Glancing at the freshly washed clothes hanging on the balcony, she grabbed her backpack and left campus.
Standing in front of the Starlight Tattoo Studio, she could see figures moving inside through the glass door. She wasn’t sure if that older sister was there.
After hesitating at the entrance for half a minute, she finally pushed the door open and went in.
“Welcome!” Xiao Mu, who was playing a mobile game at the front desk, looked up and saw her. He was taken aback for a moment before realizing this pretty girl was the one their boss had brought back last night.
“Looking for our boss?” Xiao Mu stopped his game and leaned back, watching her with amusement.
“Yeah.” For a good girl like Lu Huan, a tattoo parlor was about as intimidating as an internet cafe or a bar. She kept her head down, too nervous to look around.
“Boss is upstairs. Go on up and look for her.” Seeing her like this, Xiao Mu couldn’t help but laugh. Resting his chin on his hand, he studied her, finding her more and more amusing.
Unaware of his gaze, Lu Huan hurried toward the staircase with her head down and didn’t notice someone coming down from above. She ended up bumping right into that person’s chest.
“Oof.” The person coming downstairs gasped sharply from the impact.
Startled, Lu Huan looked up, her eyes wide and face flushed red. She stammered, “S-sorry, I-I didn’t mean to.” Her eyes welled up with tears, and she was so flustered she didn’t know where to put her hands. Seeing the other person clutching their stomach, she reached out worriedly. “Does it hurt a lot? Let’s go to the hospital.”
“Pfft.” Lou Qing couldn’t keep up the act any longer and burst out laughing at the girl’s series of reactions.
Xiao Mu, who had been watching from the counter, roared with laughter, causing people in nearby rooms to curiously peek out from behind their curtains.
Only then did Lu Huan realize she’d been tricked. She felt a surge of anger, and when she got mad, she puffed out her cheeks. Now her face was flushed with embarrassment, her ears turning red too.
Seeing the girl so mortified she wished she could vanish into the floor, Lou Qing decided not to tease her further. She pressed her freshly washed fingers against Lu Huan’s red ear and said, “Come on, let’s go upstairs with me.”
Lu Huan watched her retreating figure as she went upstairs, hesitating for a few seconds before finally stepping forward to follow, still seeming a bit annoyed.
But deep down, Lu Huan was smiling with delight, like a contented cat. She rubbed the back of her hand against her ear, which had been tickled by the other person, and followed them into the room.
