The Cutie Keeps Falling for the Wrong Girl [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 36.1
Lu Huan received Gao Heng’s call five days after their first meeting.
The background noise on the other end was deafening. Judging by the acoustics, he was either at a KTV or hosting a loud party. A call from him at this hour rarely signaled anything good.
Sure enough, Gao Heng shouted over the music, “President Pei! Your father hasn’t stopped talking about the two of us. Don’t you think you should come out and keep up appearances?”
Lu Huan held a lipstick in one hand, meticulously outlining her lips in the mirror. She was preparing for a date. Without pausing her movements, she finished the application before replying, “Young Master Gao, I’ll pass on the gathering with your friends.”
Someone called out to Gao Heng in the background; he waved them off and stepped out of the private booth into a quiet hallway. “President Pei, that’s not very fair of you. I’ve been praising you so much in front of your father. Can’t you show some face and come out for a drink?”
Lu Huan let out a faint, dry laugh. “Young Master Gao, a deal is a deal. Don’t overstep.” With that, she hung up, tossed her phone into her bag, and checked her reflection one last time. Satisfied, she stepped out of the house in a high mood, completely unaffected by the call.
On the other end, Gao Heng was disgruntled. He kicked the wall and muttered a curse, but then he suddenly chuckled. “Pei Xuan, you’ve certainly caught my attention.”

“Mute system notifications,” Lu Huan commanded.
To her, pursuing Li Zhaodi was the only thing that mattered. As for the playboy Gao Heng, he was merely a side project—someone she handled casually, sometimes even unintentionally.
Lu Huan didn’t drive today; instead, she rode a shared bicycle to Master Zhao’s shop. Master Zhao was there and had grown accustomed to her presence; she had been coming by to find his apprentice almost every single day.
Ironically, she had her hypocritical father to thank for this sudden abundance of free time.
“Nothing much is happening at the shop today,” Master Zhao said. “Take Little Li out and have some fun. I’m giving her the day off.”
“Thank you, Master Zhao,” Lu Huan said, turning her gaze toward Li Zhaodi as she emerged from the back.
Li Zhaodi had swapped her blue work uniform for her own clothes: a black T-shirt, black jeans washed until they were slightly faded, and a pair of canvas shoes. The outfit was youthful, serving as a reminder to Lu Huan that the girl had only recently entered adulthood.
“Let’s go,” Lu Huan said.
Li Zhaodi said goodbye to her master and followed Lu Huan out.
Having returned the shared bike, the two of them boarded a bus headed toward the city’s amusement park.
The bus was packed, and all the seats were taken. Lu Huan and Li Zhaodi had to stand. They pushed through the crowd toward the middle of the bus. Li Zhaodi led the way, while Lu Huan followed behind, tugging gently on the hem of the girl’s shirt. Watching the girl’s back, Lu Huan’s lips curled into a delighted smile.
“Let’s stand here,” Li Zhaodi said, turning around.
“Okay.”
Just then, the bus took a sharp turn. Lu Huan lost her balance and stumbled backward. Li Zhaodi lunged forward, catching her by the waist. Their eyes met. Once the bus stabilized, Li Zhaodi steadied her and, after ensuring she was standing firmly, quickly released her. She turned her head toward the window, the sunlight illuminating her face and the tips of her ears.
Seeing those ears turn bright red, Lu Huan couldn’t resist reaching out to touch them. Startled, Li Zhaodi’s eyes widened as she looked back at her.
Surrounded by people, Lu Huan leaned in closer and whispered, “Are you shy?”
“…No.” Li Zhaodi’s rebuttal lacked any conviction. The rapid fluttering of her eyelashes made Lu Huan’s heart itch with affection. This woman, eight years her senior, reached out to playfully brush those eyelashes, her eyes brimming with laughter.
Li Zhaodi’s eyelids felt itchy, but her heart felt it even more. As if bewitched, her gaze fell upon the woman’s face and stayed there, unable to pull away.
Lu Huan relished the focused attention. Her forefinger slid from Li Zhaodi’s eyelashes down the bridge of her nose, finally resting on her lips. Li Zhaodi’s lips pursed, catching the finger between them.
The gesture was incredibly provocative. Both of them froze for a moment. Behind her glasses, Lu Huan’s eyes were fixed intently on the girl’s lips. Finally, Li Zhaodi shyly let go, turning her gaze back to the window, her lips pressed tightly together.
Lu Huan laughed silently. Suddenly, the bus slammed on the brakes. Caught off guard, she tumbled directly into Li Zhaodi’s arms, her own hands instinctively wrapping around the girl’s waist.
“Careful!” Li Zhaodi’s hands moved faster than her voice, pulling her close. As the bus came to a halt, she looked down and asked, “Are you alright?”
Lu Huan felt the vibration in the girl’s chest again. She shook her head but didn’t let go. “Let me hold you for a bit,” she whispered.
Faced with an older woman acting spoiled, Li Zhaodi found herself at a loss. She swallowed hard, her body stiff. To stay balanced, she gripped the overhead handrail with both hands.
As the bus moved on, their bodies swayed together in the rhythm of the journey.
From time to time, other passengers glanced their way.
Lu Huan was pale, elegantly dressed, and possessed an aura that was impossible to ignore. She was beautiful in a sharp, almost aggressive way—yet here she was, nestled in the taller woman’s arms, looking like a delicate bird in need of protection.
In contrast, the taller woman’s clothes were plain—perhaps too plain. Her jeans were faded, and her skin was tanned dark, making the contrast with the woman in her arms even more stark. However, the lean muscle in her arms and her upright posture made people overlook her humble attire.
“…Arriving at Huantian Amusement Park. Passengers, please exit through the rear door…”
“Pei Xuan, it’s our stop.” Li Zhaodi looked down.
Because the bus was crowded, a large group got off at this station. To avoid being separated, Li Zhaodi took Lu Huan’s hand. They found a quiet spot once they were off the bus and exhaled in relief. They looked at each other and laughed.
“Let’s go.” “Okay.”
The amusement park was crowded with long lines, so they picked a few major attractions to enjoy before finally boarding the Ferris wheel.
They sat opposite each other. The tips of Lu Huan’s shoes brushed against Li Zhaodi’s. Lu Huan then moved her feet to rest them beside the girl’s for comparison. “Your feet are bigger than mine.”
“I’m a size 39.” “I’m a 36.” “So small!” Li Zhaodi looked at the woman’s feet in surprise.
Lu Huan extended her other foot, sandwiching one of Li Zhaodi’s feet between hers. She looked up, her eyes dark. “Want to see?”
There was something in those eyes that left Li Zhaodi’s mind blank. She didn’t even know how they ended up at a hotel; she only regained her senses when she found herself sitting on the edge of the hotel bed.
“Pei… Pei Xuan!” Li Zhaodi stammered, her heart racing.
“Scared?” Lu Huan stood before her, looking down. She knelt on the bed with one knee, closing the distance between them.
Li Zhaodi leaned back on her hands, and the movement caused her to fall back onto the mattress.
Lu Huan braced her arms on either side of the girl, looking down at her. She pulled the hair tie from her head, letting her long, curly hair cascade down. The once-meticulous and rigorous professional now looked utterly seductive. “It’s not too late to say no,” she whispered, her eyes locked on Li Zhaodi’s.
“Pei Xuan, this is… too fast,” Li Zhaodi whispered. This time, it wasn’t just her ears—her entire face was flushed. She turned her face away, not daring to look, because she realized she couldn’t refuse—not when she was looking at that face.
“You don’t like it?” Lu Huan leaned over her, resting her chin on her own arm. “If you don’t like it, you can push me away.”
But even as she spoke the words, her posture—pressing the girl down firmly—made it clear she had no intention of letting her go.
Li Zhaodi’s hands gripped the bedsheets. She was conflicted and shy, but it wasn’t “dislike” as the woman had suggested. She didn’t want to push her away.
The woman was so close; her cool, crisp fragrance began to cloud Li Zhaodi’s mind. Finally, in a sudden move, Li Zhaodi flipped them over so she was on top.
Lu Huan wrapped her arms around the girl’s neck and teased, “Call me ‘Sister’.”
Li Zhaodi froze, looking down at her.
The expression on the woman’s face was unlike anything she had ever seen. As if possessed, she leaned down and kissed her.
A flash of surprise crossed Lu Huan’s eyes before she deepened the kiss.
Throughout the night, Lu Huan continued to coax her into calling her “Sister.” Li Zhaodi eventually did, and the sound of it clearly thrilled the older woman.
Around eleven at night, Li Zhaodi was helping her wash up. Lu Huan leaned lazily against her, her voice husky and seductive. “Li-li… come work for me.”
The hand helping her wash paused. Li Zhaodi lowered her gaze and said nothing, continuing to rinse her with the showerhead.
“You don’t want to?” Lu Huan’s face brushed unconsciously against her shoulder.
The intimate, dependent gesture caused Li Zhaodi to press her lips together.
Seeing her silence, Lu Huan didn’t press the issue. After their shower, they climbed into bed and fell asleep in each other’s arms.
The next morning, Lu Huan was awakened by the phone on the nightstand. Frowning, she reached out and checked the caller ID. Her brain instantly cleared. She sat up in bed and answered the call, her expression shifting into a mask of professional cool. “Father.”
Li Zhaodi, coming out of the bathroom, froze at the sight.
Lu Huan merely glanced at her while listening intently to the man on the phone. Finally, she said in a deep voice, “I understand, Father. I’ll head to the company shortly.” She waited for the other end to disconnect before hanging up.
“You’re up so early?” Lu Huan’s expression softened instantly as she looked at the girl standing by the bathroom door.
Li Zhaodi realized she had forgotten to breathe. Seeing the woman in full “CEO mode” made her feel like she was looking at a stranger; the gap between their worlds felt vast and insurmountable in that moment.
