The Cold Sister Is Too Flirtatious - Chapter 29
Leng Yao removed her earpiece and ran to Wu Chuxia as soon as she saw her return. “Chuxia, what was Older Sister’s reaction?”
“Sister Tingxue left without saying a word.”
This reaction was exactly what Leng Yao had anticipated. She was just waiting to see what her older sister would do next. “Thank you for your hard work. I’ll handle the rest myself. Thanks, Chuxia.”
“No problem at all.”
After practice, Leng Yao surprised everyone by not seeking out Lin Tingxue alone. Instead, she leaned against the training room doorway. “Yue, are you done? Let’s head back to the dorm together?”
Zeng Zhile was puzzled. Leng Yao was usually nowhere to be found at this time. Every other day, she left alone. “Almost done, just packing up. Xiao Yao, are you going to find Xue to walk with us?”
Leng Yao hadn’t expected Yue to bring up her older sister, especially since she was deliberately avoiding her. She had initially planned to make Lin Tingxue worry for a couple of days, but then she realized it would be better to show her the results in person. Her big eyes sparkled with a sweet smile. “Sure~”
The two went to Lin Tingxue’s practice room, only to find Bai Chacha inside, screaming her lungs out. “What are you doing here?”
“We came to find Older Sister and go back to the dorm together,” Leng Yao said.
Bai Chacha, never one to hold back, even in front of the cameras, sneered, “You two are always so cozy with Lin Tingxue. People might not see you as her ‘good sisters’ anymore. She probably left already.”
Older Sister left because I had Chuxia feed her false information, Leng Yao thought. She didn’t even get jealous—she just gave up. Was all that supposed ‘affection’ just my imagination?
Leng Yao’s eyes darkened slightly, and her grip on Zeng Zhile’s arm unconsciously loosened. Forcing a smile, she said, “Yue, Older Sister must be hungry and left ahead. Perfect timing—I’ll cook for everyone tonight.”
“Yummy food!” Zeng Zhile cheered, her carefree spirit undeterred, and tugged Leng Yao out of the room.
“Wait,” Bai Chacha said awkwardly, crossing her arms. She’d been eating the production team’s bland rations for days and was starving. “I… I haven’t eaten either.”
Leng Yao’s mind was elsewhere, and she casually agreed, “Come along.”
Back in their dorm room, Leng Yao instinctively looked for Lin Tingxue, her eyes widening in surprise.
Ever since Leng Yao had bought her five sets of clothes, her older sister had never worn a skirt, let alone anything extra. At most, she’d add a down jacket in winter to avoid suspicion.
Though the weather was warming up, everyone was still bundled in thick layers. Yet Lin Tingxue was wearing a dress the production team had given her—one she had previously rejected.
The pure black mermaid dress clung to her perfectly curved figure, revealing her firm, pale calves. Her thick, smooth hair cascaded past her waist, swaying gently.
The words “elegant” and “alluring” seemed tailor-made for Lin Tingxue, her beauty breathtaking.
In that instant, Leng Yao’s inner fangirl took over, erasing all her previous thoughts. She wanted nothing more than to shake off Yue’s arm and rush to Lin Tingxue’s side.
Older Sister is so beautiful! I want to cuddle her!
Fortunately, her last shred of rationality held her back. Chuxia had only described the dress to her older sister; she might not have fully grasped the situation. If Leng Yao and Yue grew even closer, perhaps her older sister would finally feel jealous.
Lin Tingxue watched the two girls arm-in-arm, jealousy simmering within her. Her brow furrowed slightly. Doesn’t the Little Rabbit like this outfit?
She had specifically asked Su Zhizi, who assured her that at least nine out of ten people would love this outfit. The tenth person, she added, was blind.
But Little Rabbit’s eyesight was perfect. She needed to get closer.
Leng Yao rummaged through the refrigerator, finding it completely empty. “I’m going to the supermarket,” she announced. “Who wants to come grocery shopping with me?”
“Me! Me! Me!” Zeng Zhile eagerly volunteered, already calculating how she could sneak in some snacks.
Bai Chacha rolled her eyes. “Without the cameras rolling, I can be honest,” she said. “These heels are far too precious to get fishy or meaty smells on them. You country bumpkins are more used to that sort of thing. Lin Tingxue, why don’t you go?”
“Okay,” Lin Tingxue agreed.
“What’s gotten into you today? Actually listening to me?” Bai Chacha muttered, kicking off her heels and flopping onto the sofa to play on her phone.
Lin Tingxue walked over to Zeng Zhile. “You’re my friend,” she said.
There was a saying in this world: “Don’t covet your friend’s wife.” Since she considered Zeng Zhile a friend, a friend shouldn’t try to steal Little Rabbit from her.
Zeng Zhile looked utterly confused. “Of course! You and Xiao Yao are both my friends. I like you both the most!”
Not just Little Rabbit, but me too?
Lin Tingxue pondered this seriously. She needed to make it clear to Zeng Zhile that she liked Little Rabbit and that Zeng Zhile shouldn’t try to make a move on her.
The supermarket’s produce section was crowded with elderly shoppers, all eager for the evening discounts.
Lin Tingxue pushed the shopping cart, walking side-by-side with Leng Yao. Zeng Zhile had already vanished, off to reunite with her beloved snacks.
Even though Lin Tingxue had wanted to make her older sister jealous, now that they were alone, Leng Yao seemed strangely withdrawn.
And it was true—so many people were staring at her sister.
Lin Tingxue’s beauty and elegance were truly striking. With each step, her skirt swayed like lotus blossoms blooming with every stride. To the uninitiated, it might have seemed like they were at a Paris fashion show, not a supermarket.
Leng Yao felt a surge of inexplicable pride, her chest swelling. Of course, she thought, her older sister always commands attention wherever she goes.
They reached the grass carp stall, and Leng Yao grabbed a net to scoop up a fish she liked. But the fish was quick and the tank was large. Instead of catching the fish, Leng Yao ended up with a face full of water from its tail.
Suddenly, the net in her hand grew heavy. The grass carp had leaped into it on its own.
“Older Sister, look! I caught one!” Leng Yao exclaimed, her voice filled with delight.
“Mm-hmm,” Lin Tingxue nodded, withdrawing the spiritual energy from her fingertips.
The supermarket’s service was excellent. The butcher, wearing a leather apron, made a precise horizontal cut with his sharp knife, cleanly removing the fish’s innards. Thin scales scattered, shimmering under the market lights.
The three-kilogram grass carp was placed in a thick black plastic bag. The uncle smiled warmly. “This fish is still alive, miss. Several people tried to catch it, but even I couldn’t manage. It’ll taste delicious when you cook it at home.”
Leng Yao deliberately replied, “Yes, Yue will love it.”
Only Yue gets a share, not me? The Little Rabbit was already eyeing someone else’s plate.
That fickle Little Rabbit… I need to find a way to get closer to her.
Lin Tingxue spoke up, “I want to buy rice.”
“Alright.”
They walked to the rice section. Leng Yao bent down to grab a five-kilogram bag of rice, intending to put it in the shopping cart. But when she straightened up, she discovered a fifty-kilogram bag of rice already inside.
The saleswoman beside them praised Lin Tingxue, “You’re so practical, miss! This rice is on sale—half the usual price! It’ll last you and your sister a whole month.”
“Older Sister, that’s too much,” Leng Yao protested, trying to put the bag back. But fifty kilograms was heavy, and she couldn’t lift it.
Lin Tingxue pressed Leng Yao’s hand down, disapproving. “We need to be practical.”
What’s with this wifely demeanor? Leng Yao screamed inwardly, My wife, my queen!
Completely flustered, she grinned foolishly. “You’re right, Older Sister. We need to be practical.”
“But this rice is heavy. I’ll need your help to push the cart.”
Lin Tingxue gazed at Leng Yao with a delicate, vulnerable look, her eyelashes fluttering like rain-soaked flower petals.
Leng Yao rolled up her sleeves and gripped the metal handle. “No problem. I’ll push with you, Older Sister.”
Wait!
Her older sister’s left hand had just grasped Leng Yao’s right hand!
“It is easier this way,” Lin Tingxue remarked.
Leng Yao carefully glanced at Lin Tingxue, relieved to see no sign of discomfort. She secretly rejoiced, keeping her delight to herself.
My silly older sister—she doesn’t even realize she’s being taken advantage of while pushing a shopping cart.
After buying all the groceries, they ran into Zeng Zhile in the snack aisle. Leng Yao smiled and rushed over to chat with her, asking a supermarket employee to help Lin Tingxue check out first.
Feeling the absence of Little Rabbit’s touch in her hand, Lin Tingxue felt a pang of regret. She pushed the shopping cart to the checkout counter effortlessly.
The supermarket employee stood empty-handed, bewildered. Didn’t she ask me for help?
Leng Yao clasped her hands together, looking expectantly at Zeng Zhile. “Yue, I need you to do me a favor.”
“Sure,” Zeng Zhile grinned. “You’ll cover all the snacks in this cart and my future snack expenses. Does it have something to do with Xue?”
Zeng Zhile had long noticed the overly intimate relationship between the two. Aren’t they just a sweet little couple?
As a well-known figure in the girl group scene, she had countless admirers vying for her attention. Having been in four or five relationships herself, she could spot the signs immediately.
“Exactly! You figured it out?” Leng Yao exclaimed in surprise. “Yue, can you make my older sister jealous?”
Zeng Zhile confidently patted her chest. “Jealousy? A piece of cake! Leave it to me.”
Back at the dormitory, Leng Yao rolled up her sleeves and began preparing dinner. She was slicing tomatoes, planning to make scrambled eggs with tomatoes.
Suddenly, someone leaned close to her. “Xiao Yao, I brought you an apron.”
Zeng Zhile’s arm wrapped intimately around Leng Yao’s waist, tying the apron strings into a bow.
“Thank you,” Leng Yao said.
“No problem. I noticed some tomato juice on your face. Let me wipe it off.”
Zeng Zhile reached out, but her hand was abruptly blocked by another.
Leng Yao watched as Lin Tingxue gently wiped the juice from her face with the pad of her finger, her expression focused and tender.
“You’re wearing too many rings. They might scratch her,” Lin Tingxue said.
Only then did Zeng Zhile realize she was wearing three metal rings. “Oh, sorry, sorry! I forgot about that.”
Leng Yao smiled. “It’s okay, Yue.”
She lowered her head and continued slicing tomatoes, then cracked eggs into a bowl. “Yue, can you slice the fish for me? I’m making pickled cabbage fish later.”
Lin Tingxue volunteered, “I’ll help. I’m better with a sword.”
Zeng Zhile stood nearby, stifling a laugh. Looks like Xue is finally catching on.
“No way, Xue! Xiao Yao wants me to slice the fish myself. You can’t just take over!”
Understanding Zeng Zhile’s intention, Leng Yao played along. “That’s right! I want Yue to do it.”
Lin Tingxue felt a faint anxiety stirring within her, a sensation she hadn’t experienced since she was three years old and struggling to break through a cultivation bottleneck.
She proposed a straightforward solution: “Let’s both slice the fish and choose the better portion.”
Zeng Zhile agreed. Her knife skills were decent, producing uniformly thin slices.
When it was Lin Tingxue’s turn, everyone watched with wide eyes. Unnoticed, she retrieved a longsword from her personal space.
The blade flashed with torrential speed, its ringing clang echoing in their ears.
The onlookers were stunned, as if they had witnessed a grand sword technique, yet all that remained was a plate of fish slices as thin as cicada wings.
Zeng Zhile couldn’t help but clap. “Xue, that’s incredible!”
Lin Tingxue’s attention, however, wasn’t on herself. Her gaze, tinged with anticipation, turned toward Leng Yao.
But Leng Yao said, “I still prefer Yue’s slices.”
