The Cold Sister Is Too Flirtatious - Chapter 22
“Older Sister, I made it!”
Leng Yao burst out, bouncing with excitement, and leaped into Lin Tingxue’s arms. Over the past few days, she had learned exactly how far she could push Lin Tingxue’s patience.
No one else could get within three meters of Older Sister, yet I could hug and cuddle her whenever I wanted.
Is this the special treatment Older Sister gives me? I’m so happy!
Lin Tingxue gently rubbed the Little Rabbit’s head, a faint smile playing on her lips. “I knew you’d pass.”
“But… even though you’re my manager, we can’t always be together like this.”
Lin Tingxue seemed to see the Little Rabbit’s ears droop, a gloomy aura enveloping her. She couldn’t resist pinching Leng Yao’s earlobe to check if it was an illusion.
“Mmm~”
Leng Yao covered her ear, her eyelashes trembling. She could feel the warmth of her older sister’s fingertips transferring through the contact, making her earlobe tingle.
So it really was an illusion, Lin Tingxue murmured to herself, a hint of regret in her voice.
“Don’t worry,” she reassured Leng Yao. “We can still be together just like this.”
Leng Yao removed her hand, her curiosity piqued. “Older Sister, is that some kind of invisibility technique from the Cultivation World?”
Invisibility technique? Lin Tingxue pondered. It was certainly an option. Unfortunately, she had already signed a contract with that mortal. According to this world’s rules, breaking the contract would require paying a substantial amount of spirit stones.
Back in the Cultivation World, she was notorious for being utterly penniless. Here, she relied entirely on Little Rabbit for spirit stones. Snow and Little Shell had once told her that financial stability was a crucial factor in someone falling for her.
The mortal had said this contract could bring her more spirit stones than she could ever earn in a lifetime, and she needed to earn some spirit stones now.
So, Lin Tingxue lowered her gaze and simply said, “It’s a secret.”
The production team acted swiftly, sending a car to transport the participants to the training camp, where specialized instructors would provide foundational training.
Leng Yao clutched her room key for Room 203 and headed to the dormitory alone, her heart heavy with disappointment. Her Older Sister had promised to be with her, but she had broken her word.
That unreliable Older Sister! I’ll never like her again!
Head bowed, Leng Yao glumly pushed open the door, wondering what her new roommate would be like.
A slender, pale hand reached out to take the handle of her suitcase. Leng Yao quickly thanked the person and looked up. “Sis… Older Sister!”
She couldn’t recall ever feeling happier than she did right now. Lin Tingxue was watching her with a gentle smile. “Come in,” she said. “I’ve already tidied up.”
Leng Yao hurried in, trailing after her like a little shadow, her mind buzzing with questions.
She noticed her bed was neatly made with pink and white sheets, and a Star Kirby wearing a wizard’s hat sat at the head of the bed.
Older Sister really has taken care of everything.
Lin Tingxue offered an explanation: “I made a pact with a Mortal.”
Knowing the Little Rabbit would inevitably ask, Lin Tingxue offered a reason: “I wanted to experience what it’s like to be stuffed inside a Roasted Chicken myself.”
The reason was both childish and plausible. Though Leng Yao found it odd, she was overjoyed to be able to stay with her Older Sister.
Singing practice drifted up from downstairs. The practice room was on the first floor, and someone was already rehearsing on the first day.
Leng Yao’s jaw dropped. “Amazing!” she exclaimed.
She went downstairs to a nearby store and bought a flying chess set and some lollipops, muttering to herself, “Formal training starts tomorrow. I won’t have time to play with Older Sister then, so I need to make the most of today.”
Beep-beep!
A new message arrived on the “YaoYaoLinXian” Tieba forum. Leng Yao clicked to read it, completely forgetting about Lin. Tomorrow wasn’t just the start of training; they’d also be confiscating phones. She had no idea when she’d get hers back, so she needed to say goodbye to Lin.
Lin: According to you, Little Rabbit and I are now working at the same company. I just won’t be able to contact you as often lately.
Lin was as efficient as ever. Leng Yao popped the peach lollipop in her mouth, freeing her hands to type.
Snow and Little Shell: Same here. I’ll only be able to contact you about once during this period. You’ll have to manage on your own for a while. Remember our principle: treat Little Rabbit unconditionally well and help her solve any problems she encounters at work.
But Lin, you’d better keep your colleagues from finding out. Even though I support you two, workplace romances aren’t well-received in China, and it’s even harder for two girls. If you don’t want Little Rabbit to face societal backlash, keep your relationship under wraps.
Lin: Got it. I’ll protect Little Rabbit and make sure she doesn’t get hurt.
Leng Yao turned off her phone, slipped it into her pocket, and headed back to the training dorms. She couldn’t help but feel moved by Lin’s devotion to Little Rabbit. Whenever Little Rabbit was involved, Lin always went above and beyond to protect and care for her.
I hope being at the same company gives them more chances to connect and be together soon.
As Leng Yao passed the first floor, the practice room was still brightly lit. Two massive floor-to-ceiling windows allowed passersby to see inside.
The red-haired girl’s forehead glistened with sweat as she danced and sang, her movements precise and powerful. Leng Yao watched, mesmerized, and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow, she’s amazing!”
Leng Yao’s voice carried clearly through the quiet night. The red-haired girl stopped dancing, opened the door, and extended her hand with a smile. “Hi, I’m Zeng Zhile. You can call me Yue.”
After shaking hands, Leng Yao introduced herself. “Hi, I’m Leng Yao. My older sister is Lin Tingxue. It’s nice to meet you.”
Zeng Zhile glanced behind Leng Yao but saw no one. “Where’s your sister?”
“She’s in our dorm. I just like introducing her to people.”
“It sounds like you’re close to your roommate.”
Leng Yao nodded shyly. “It’s getting late, Yue. Are you still practicing?”
“No, I’m done for the night.” Zeng Zhile turned off the lights and closed the door. “What about you? I saw you just got back from the supermarket.”
Leng Yao waved the Aeroplane Chess game in her hand. “I was planning to play Aeroplane Chess with my sister. Want to join us? We’re in room 203.”
“Alright, I’m not sleepy yet anyway. I’ll head back to my dorm for a quick shower and be right over.”
Leng Yao had just reached the second-floor stairwell when she spotted Lin Tingxue. Her figure stood tall and elegant, her cool, detached eyes betraying a hint of concern. “Where have you been? It’s so late.”
“Older Sister, I made a new friend named Zeng Zhile. I invited her to play Ludo with us. She’ll be here soon.”
Leng Yao grinned and gently nudged Lin Tingxue forward. “Come on, Older Sister, let’s go inside. I’ll teach you how to play first.”
Fifteen minutes later, Zeng Zhile knocked on the door, changed into comfortable sportswear, and joined them for a game of Ludo.
Five minutes after that, Leng Yao and Zeng Zhile stared in stunned disbelief as Lin Tingxue’s final piece reached the finish line.
Zeng Zhile felt like her brain was about to short-circuit. Even her usually impeccable composure cracked. “Wait, rolling a six once is one thing, but how can you roll sixes repeatedly? Xiao Yao and I haven’t even gotten a single turn!”
Leng Yao, equally suspicious, began examining the dice, rolling them repeatedly to confirm there was no tampering.
It was one thing for her older sister to be unbeatable at phone games, but how could she dominate even a game of pure luck like Ludo so completely?
Knowing she couldn’t beat Lin Tingxue, Zeng Zhile conceded and left with a parting shot: “Next time, I’ll bring a different game, Xue. I’ll definitely win then.”
As soon as Zeng Zhile was gone, Leng Yao flopped onto the carpet, rolled over to Lin Tingxue’s side, and rested her head on her older sister’s knee. “Sis, why are you always so lucky? How do you keep winning?”
Lin Tingxue picked up the dice from the carpet. “What numbers do you want?”
Leng Yao deliberately made it difficult. “One and two.”
“Alright.”
Lin Tingxue casually rolled the dice. To their astonishment, the dice landed at an odd angle, perfectly balanced with the numbers one and two facing up.
Leng Yao’s eyes widened as she shot to her feet. So, it’s not luck at all. It’s skill.
She tried to cheat. “Okay, now I want one and six.”
1 and 2 were adjacent, but 1 and 6 faced each other. She didn’t believe her older sister could roll that.
Lin Tingxue understood the Little Rabbit was deliberately making things difficult for her. Her eyes held a mix of helplessness and affection. “Alright,” she agreed.
The die was tossed into the air, and when it landed, it split in half from the force, each half showing either 1 or 6 facing up.
Leng Yao excitedly hugged Lin Tingxue. “Ahhh! Older Sister, is there anything you can’t do? You’re practically a modern-day gambling god!”
“There is.”
I don’t know how to make you truly like me.
But Lin Tingxue kept those words buried in her heart, unspoken. She needed to take things slowly, not frighten the Little Rabbit.
So Older Sister has something she can’t do after all. “It’s okay, Older Sister! I know you’re amazing. If you can’t do it now, you’ll learn eventually!” Leng Yao pulled out a strawberry-flavored lollipop she had bought earlier. “You like sweet things, so you’ll definitely like this!”
Lin Tingxue took the lollipop and licked the plastic wrapper. Why is the Little Rabbit giving me something so awful? But she couldn’t disappoint her, so she nodded.
“It’s sweet.”
Leng Yao laughed so hard her stomach hurt, her words coming in gasps. “Ha ha… Older Sister, you’re so cute! Ha ha… I can’t… my stomach can’t take it anymore… ha ha ha ha!”
Lin Tingxue, however, took the matter seriously. She gently placed her warm hand on Little Rabbit’s soft belly and channeled some spiritual energy into her. “Does that feel any better?”
“Much… much better.”
As she felt the gentle massage on her abdomen, an indescribable sensation flowed through her. Leng Yao was so comfortable she nearly closed her eyes. She took the lollipop from Lin Tingxue’s hand and carefully peeled off the wrapper.
“Older Sister, you wanted the sugar coating removed. Now it’s truly sweet.”
Lin Tingxue didn’t feel embarrassed. She tasted it again and, just as Little Rabbit had said, it was indeed sweeter.
Remembering she had also bought a bag of White Rabbit milk candies, Leng Yao unwrapped one and was about to pop it into her mouth.
But Lin Tingxue stopped her, her eyes conveying disapproval. “You were just talking about removing the sugar coating. You forgot about this transparent layer.”
Silly rabbit.
Leng Yao stuck out her tongue and lightly touched the outer layer. Half of it melted instantly. “Older Sister, this is glutinous rice paper. It’s edible.”
“Edible?” Lin Tingxue leaned closer, curious, and mimicked Leng Yao’s action. Sure enough, the sensation on her tongue was fleeting and magical.
Leng Yao’s heart pounded like a drum, the distance between them no more than the width of a caramel. Her older sister was standing too close, her actions crossing a line. For a moment, Leng Yao even thought she was about to touch her.
She shoved the caramel whole into her mouth, fanning her face frantically to dispel the heat rising in her cheeks.
Neither of them noticed the camera behind Lin Tingxue, recording the entire scene.
The whole thing!
