The Cold Ex-Wife Is Pregnant Seeking a Happily Ever After on a Dating Reality Show - Chapter 3
Sang Yu tried her best to keep a stiff face and remain silent, but once the nurse left, she couldn’t quite hold her composure anymore. “What are you doing here?” she muttered.
Song Yunsheng was sitting down at that moment. Hearing this, she simply said, “Coming to see you.”
The words were concise, but an unrealistic fantasy flickered in Sang Yu’s heart again. She opened her mouth, but before she could speak, she heard Song Yunsheng ask, “And you? Why were you hospitalized?”
If it had been just a moment ago, Sang Yu would have gathered her courage to say it was because Song Yunsheng’s frigidity had caused her own physical health to fail—Song Yunsheng would surely have been fuming.
But Song Yunsheng’s “coming to see you” was so ambiguous that it made Sang Yu feel awkward. Unwilling to let Song Yunsheng see her as a joke, she crossly made up a random excuse to brush it off.
Song Yunsheng frowned at her, appearing skeptical, but for some reason, she didn’t press further. Instead, she bypassed the topic entirely.
“I saw the message you sent earlier. You want a divorce?”
The lingering traces of sentiment were shattered in an instant. Sang Yu’s face turned pale; she looked away and nodded. “Yes.”
“Why?”
Song Yunsheng asked “why” so naturally, as if she had absolutely no memory of their previous arguments. It almost made Sang Yu feel like she was the one being unreasonable.
Fortunately, her prior mental preparation held up. Sang Yu didn’t believe she was in the wrong. She looked directly at Song Yunsheng, her tone turning cold.
“I don’t believe there is any point in continuing our marriage. Don’t you feel the same?”
Song Yunsheng listened quietly until she finished. Her gaze remained calm, though it held a hint of uncomprehending interrogation. She said frankly, “Perhaps that is the case, but you should remember that we signed an agreement.”
“A five-year agreement. It has only been three years. According to the contract, you shouldn’t be proposing a divorce at this time. Of course, I can understand—is it because my progress in acquiring the Yunsheng Group is too slow? Actually, that is easily solved. I brought the equity acquisition certificate for Yunsheng Group; do you want to see it?”
She asked the question, but without waiting for an answer, she spread the documents from her bag out in front of Sang Yu with unquestionable authority.
Song Yunsheng likely had no idea that this was exactly how Sang Yu’s heart grew cold, inch by inch.
Song Yunsheng maintained a business-like attitude throughout. Sang Yu couldn’t see a single ripple of emotion in her eyes. In that moment, Sang Yu suddenly felt a surge of regret.
Had she known, she would have said even harsher words just now. Since Song Yunsheng was always so unshakably indifferent, why should she bother feeling sad for her?
Sang Yu’s face was deathly pale, and despair welled up in her heart. She realized once again, with absolute clarity, that Song Yunsheng had never treated her as a lover. She should have let go of everything long ago.
Since that was the case, there was no need for more words. Sang Yu curled her lips in a mocking smile and pushed the share agreement back without sparing it a second glance.
She simply replied firmly, “No, I won’t look at it.”
“I have made up my mind to divorce. The divorce settlement is being drafted; I will give it to you when it’s ready. Let’s end this agreement here!”
Sang Yu smiled sarcastically.
Song Yunsheng was not the type to endure slights. Speaking so much just now was already an exception for her. Now, faced with Sang Yu’s cynicism, she was also quite displeased. She stood up and coldly threw down a sentence: “Suit yourself.”
Then, she left decisively.
She came and went in a hurry, staying for less than five minutes. Sang Yu even wondered if the conversation just now had been a hallucination.
Perhaps Song Yunsheng hadn’t come at all. How could she waste her precious rest time to come see her? After all, she was just an Alpha who existed solely to deal with family pressure to marry—completely dispensable.
Sang Yu gave a bitter laugh.
In the afternoon, Lu Lingxi came to visit and brought the drafted divorce agreement for Sang Yu to review.
Sang Yu was feeling sluggish and didn’t want to talk, but her eyes widened when she heard this. “That was fast.”
“Of course. Who do you think I am?” Lu Lingxi was originally high-spirited, but seeing Sang Yu’s listless state, she immediately became unhappy. “What’s with that expression? You’re not regretting this, are you?”
“No such thing!”
Sang Yu quickly sat up. After reading it, she made the final decision. “This version is fine. Send it to me; I’ll go talk to Song Yunsheng as soon as I’m discharged.”
Seeing her initiative, Lu Lingxi looked relieved and waved her hand, taking over the task. “It’s fine, leave the printing to me too. Saves you from running around.”
With that, Lu Lingxi rushed off again.
Sang Yu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She knew Lu Lingxi was afraid she would change her mind at the last minute, so she didn’t stop her. She figured this was for the best; once the papers were printed, she would have to see Song Yunsheng one last time regardless.
However, Sang Yu clearly underestimated Lu Lingxi’s boldness. After Lu Lingxi went back and finished printing, she thought about it and felt uneasy, fearing Sang Yu might back out.
Without a word, she sent the divorce agreement to Song Yunsheng’s work email. She even thoughtfully changed the filename to Monthly Work Report.
She was afraid Song Yunsheng wouldn’t read it.
As it turned out, even Lu Lingxi didn’t know that Song Yunsheng was currently in a company meeting, waiting for others to report on their work. When she saw the new email, she frowned, thinking it was a late work report.
She casually opened it for screen projection. Song Yunsheng was about to start criticizing when she glanced at the signature—or rather, failed to find one—as Song Yunsheng’s own name appeared prominently on the large screen.
It was a strange coincidence. Sang Yu didn’t like to overthink things, so she had simply asked Lu Lingxi to put the reason for divorce at the very beginning.
Thus, everyone present saw the reason listed on the divorce agreement: “Due to the Omega’s frigidity and lack of sexual harmony, leading to emotional estrangement.”
The room erupted into an uproar. People couldn’t help whispering, and many stole glances at Song Yunsheng’s expression. She was clearly stunned with rage.
Once she snapped out of it, Song Yunsheng’s face turned livid. She closed the projection and flew into a rage. The monthly summary meeting was already a hurdle for everyone; no one dared to gossip further. Taking advantage of Song Yunsheng declaring the meeting adjourned, they all scurried away.
Song Yunsheng sat in her office chair, her face still as cold as ice.
Even though her assistant went to handle it, there were many people at the summary meeting. It was essentially impossible to keep it completely quiet.
As the company CEO, Song Yunsheng’s image was vital. She could have endless tabloid scandals, but she absolutely could not be labeled as “frigid.” This kind of negative impact was extremely troublesome to deal with.
Song Yunsheng was so angry her head throbbed. With a dark expression, she made a call. This time, Sang Yu answered quickly, but Song Yunsheng roared directly into the phone:
“Sang Yu, I am warning you, know when to stop!!”
It was rare for Song Yunsheng to lose control like this. Sang Yu hadn’t slept well that morning and was currently catching up on her sleep. She was nearly given a heart attack by the roar.
Her morning grumpiness immediately flared up. She had no interest in hearing what Song Yunsheng wanted to say. She sneered, called her a “lunatic,” and hung up.
After hanging up, her sleepiness vanished. Sang Yu snapped back to her senses and blinked, not quite understanding why Song Yunsheng was so angry. Hadn’t she said “suit yourself” when she came by in the early hours? Why was it not “suit yourself” anymore?
Forget it, she’s incomprehensible, Sang Yu muttered, pulling up some white noise to help her sleep.
While Sang Yu had fallen asleep, the world outside had gone crazy with the news. Having been in retirement for three years, she was suddenly trending on the hot search list again.
After all, as the heir to the Song Group, Song Yunsheng’s status as an Omega and her marital situation were highly scrutinized. This divorce storm was seasoned with some “insider information,” which happened to be exactly the kind of wealthy family drama the public loved.
Consequently, the company’s PR department was incredibly busy.
However, this had zero impact on Lu Lingxi. She looked at the hot searches with smug satisfaction, not even checking what time it was.
She went straight back to the hospital, using the trending topics to cheer Sang Yu up. “Look! Even though you’ve been retired for three years, your popularity hasn’t faded at all. The opportunity for a comeback is right in front of you!”
Sang Yu was pulled out of her dream by Lu Lingxi, forced to open her eyes and identify her own name. But she quickly discovered—
“…Are you sure it’s my popularity that hasn’t faded? What’s with ‘Song Yunsheng’ three words in front of my name?”
The keywords also included “marital breakdown.” Sang Yu stared at that part, murmuring in confusion, “What’s going on? I just drafted the divorce agreement, and the news is already out? Which paparazzi’s info is this fast?”
As she muttered, Sang Yu remembered Song Yunsheng’s inexplicable phone call from the afternoon. She was silent for a long while before looking up at Lu Lingxi.
Lu Lingxi felt a bit embarrassed and coughed before saying, “Isn’t this just a notification? You’re getting a divorce; what’s wrong with me notifying the other party? Who would have known Song Yunsheng was in a meeting and would click it open directly… This whole thing was just a perfect storm of timing and circumstances. It really has nothing to do with me.”
Sang Yu finally understood why Song Yunsheng was so furious.
She sincerely patted Lu Lingxi on the shoulder, filled with admiration. “Sister Lu, you are truly something. But I have one question: whose email did you use to send it?”
Lu Lingxi became even more embarrassed. “…I figured using my email wasn’t quite right. Your work email happened to be idle with me, so I—”
Sang Yu felt her vision go dark.
She decided to take back what she just said.
However, Sang Yu didn’t actually care that much. The Song Group was massive; they would eventually suppress this news. And just as Lu Lingxi said, taking advantage of this heat, her comeback was indeed promising.
Song Yunsheng wasn’t someone who would care about a bit of divorce drama; the biggest issue was entirely that phrase “frigidity.”
For an Omega, that term was equivalent to calling an Alpha “impotent.” For the heir of a group like Song Yunsheng to be associated with such keywords was a PR disaster.
Furthermore, the Song family was small, and Song Yunsheng had always faced pressure to produce an heir. This should be enough to keep her frantic for a while.
Sang Yu shrugged, thinking that Song Yunsheng couldn’t really blame anyone else—she was the one who clicked it open herself.
Ultimately, they were parting ways.
Before Lu Lingxi left, she also handled Sang Yu’s discharge procedures in advance so she could leave early the next morning.
The next day, Sang Yu got up very early and took a taxi to another nursing home. The caregiver there wasn’t surprised to see her and greeted her, saying, “Miss Sang is here.”
Sang Yu smiled at her, exchanged a few pleasantries, and made her way familiarly into the patient room.
Looking at her mother “sleeping soundly” on the bed, her nose suddenly felt a bit sour.
It had been many years. Sang Yu was originally a young lady of wealth and status. Unfortunately, her grandparents passed away early, and her father, who had married into the family, took advantage of her mother’s grief to secretly transfer shares, becoming the actual shareholder of Yunsheng Group.
Then, through several major maneuvers, he brought the group’s ownership entirely under his name. Originally, her mother didn’t care for these worldly possessions.
But once Sang Yishen gained power, his true face was revealed. He lived a life of debauchery outside and soon revealed an illegitimate daughter. He used that opportunity to kick the three of them—mother and daughters—out of the house, forcing her mother to sign a divorce agreement so he could marry his mistress.
From then on, her mother, who was already in poor health, became despondent and jumped from a building while Sang Yu was unaware.
Fortunately, their rented apartment wasn’t on a high floor, and a kind neighbor called the police in time. Her life was saved, but she became a vegetable as a result.
For so many years, Sang Yu had supported her younger sister’s schooling while bearing her mother’s medical expenses. The weight on her shoulders had nearly crushed her. It was no wonder Sang Yu saw Song Yunsheng as a life-saving straw; after all, in those days, only Song Yunsheng had reached out to help her.
In other words, if Song Yunsheng hadn’t pulled her up then, she might have truly fallen into darkness.
Sang Yu curled the corners of her mouth, wanting to look more relaxed, but she couldn’t squeeze out a smile. She could only lower her eyes and patiently massage her mother’s hands and feet.
As she moved, her hatred became clearer.
Sang Yu felt she had found a direction after the divorce. Yunsheng Group was now a hollow shell managed by Lu Yunsheng; Sang Yishen was never meant to be a boss, and such a large family business would only be squandered in his hands.
At this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, she really should do something—at least make that family pay the price.
Thinking of this, Sang Yu made a silent vow: “Mom, you just watch. I will definitely take my revenge.”
After handling all of this, Sang Yu returned to that cold house.
Opening the door, she met the nanny’s surprised gaze. Seeing it was Sang Yu, the nanny said warmly, “Miss Sang is back? Have you eaten? What would you like? I’ll go make it right away.”
Sang Yu didn’t stand on ceremony and said casually, “Just make whatever is in the kitchen.”
“Alright.” The nanny nodded and hurried off.
Sang Yu rested her chin on her hand, waiting for the meal with boredom.
She had come this time specifically to propose the divorce. She had sent a message to Song Yunsheng when she left; she didn’t know when Song Yunsheng would see it this time. This person had wasted so much of her time—what was wrong with having a free meal?
Sang Yu felt justified. However, at that moment, a call came in. Sang Yu checked it; to her surprise, it was actually Song Yunsheng.
Song Yunsheng was rarely this punctual. It seemed yesterday’s divorce scandal had indeed caused quite a stir. Sang Yu answered the phone and heard a low-pressure voice from the other end: “Sang Yu, where are you now? There’s no one at the hospital…”
“Home.”
After saying those two brief words, Sang Yu hung up directly.
