The Cold CEO Chases His White Moonlight - Chapter 2
“Your request is quite simple.” Gu Yunhui tapped the tip of Ji Zhiwei’s nose but had no intention of agreeing.
Simple, yet laden with too much unwarranted emotion.
She didn’t want money, she wanted the person.
With less than a year left on their four-year agreement, Gu Yunhui saw no reason, emotionally or logically, to respond.
Ji Zhiwei didn’t catch the underlying meaning in Gu Yunhui’s words. Her eyes brightened instead.
She knew the agreement had only a few months left.
The days she could openly or rather, justifiably meet Gu Yunhui were numbered. She wanted to seize every opportunity while she still could.
At least, for now, she was Gu Yunhui’s pampered little canary, her lover.
The title might not sound respectable, but it was better than nothing.
She was just an ordinary student at a film and television university.
Even if she was the campus belle, even if she ranked in the top five of her year, even if the Ji family hadn’t fallen someone like Gu Yunhui would still be out of her league.
Especially since it was Gu Yunhui who had funded her education.
Otherwise, Ji Zhiwei wouldn’t even have been able to scrape together the tuition, and might have had to resort to work far more shameful than this.
“But it’s a shame, I’ve been very busy lately.” Gu Yunhui withdrew her hand and stood up.
Her fingers left Ji Zhiwei’s nose, taking even the lingering warmth with them.
Ji Zhiwei froze for a second before quickly following her.
“I can wait until you’re free.” In Ji Zhiwei’s mind, work could always be finished. Gu Yunhui would have downtime eventually.
Gu Yunhui didn’t respond, as if considering the request.
By the time they reached the bed, she finally relaxed her brows, about to speak, but instead pushed Ji Zhiwei down first.
“I told you, I’m busy. If all you want is to eat with me, I’ll come earlier next time. You can cook or order in either way.”
Ji Zhiwei’s shoulder was bitten.
Gu Yunhui used just enough force to punish her.
Pain and pleasure merged in that moment, only to separate the next, leaving behind an indescribable ache.
Ji Zhiwei clenched her teeth and made no sound.
Gu Yunhui liked obedient girls.
Everyone did. She had no choice but to comply.
“I’ll give you a chance to audition.”
After turning off the lights, Gu Yunhui held Ji Zhiwei close, as if she were a plush toy except Ji Zhiwei was warmer, softer in certain places.
“Consider it a birthday gift. Ye Pingsheng’s new drama, Lili, is casting now. Whether she takes a liking to you, whether you land a lead or supporting role, that’s up to you.”
In the darkness, Ji Zhiwei’s pupils contracted not just because of Gu Yunhui’s words.
Ye Pingsheng’s period dramas were guaranteed masterpieces, a fact known to young and old alike. Even a minor role could be a huge boost to an acting career.
But in that moment, Gu Yunhui held her so tightly, pressed so close.
This was one of the rare times Ji Zhiwei could be this intimate with her.
Ji Zhiwei couldn’t bring herself to think about the audition. All she felt was the unbearable heat against her back.
“Thank you, Yun-jie.” After a long pause, with Gu Yunhui still refusing to budge, Ji Zhiwei’s resistance wore thin. She couldn’t bring herself to refuse.
Rumors had already spread that she was being kept.
Now it was true. She was a kept woman, accepting resources she hadn’t even fought for.
Gu Yunhui had already fallen asleep.
As if she’d known Ji Zhiwei would accept her generosity so lofty, so non-negotiable.
Being held like this made it hard to sleep.
But Ji Zhiwei was used to it. She even overslept, waking to find Gu Yunhui already up, sitting on the bed and scrolling through messages.
“Good morning, Yun-jie.” Ji Zhiwei hugged the blanket and sat up as well.
Gu Yunhui gave a noncommittal hum, showing no intention of getting up.
Ji Zhiwei wasn’t annoyed. She went to the bathroom to freshen up, then squeezed toothpaste onto Gu Yunhui’s toothbrush and prepared warm water for her to wash her face.
She had done this so many times that Gu Yunhui no longer bothered to stop her.
Before leaving, Gu Yunhui took the breakfast prepared by her little canary, but after walking just a few meters, she tossed it into the trash.
On the surface, she was still the perfect patron wealthy, not perverse, generous with resources, and never interfering in her canary’s life.
That was enough.
Ji Zhiwei finished her breakfast at the villa. On her way back, she kept thinking about what Gu Yunhui had said the night before.
Did she want a home-cooked dinner from her?
Ji Zhiwei instinctively reached into her pocket, touching a pendant, which calmed her a little.
She could cook, but her skills were barely passable.
But if Gu Yunhui said she wanted to eat her cooking, she would have to start practicing.
Ji Zhiwei glanced at her planner Gu Yunhui’s heat cycle was coming up soon. For the past four years, every month, Gu Yunhui had spent her heat with Ji Zhiwei.
Like many alpha-omega couples, they soothed each other’s restless urges during their respective cycles.
The only difference was that in their case, the omega was the one doing the marking, and the alpha was the one being marked.
This month would surely be no different. During her heat, Gu Yunhui would usually ask Ji Zhiwei to come to the villa early. After they were done, maybe Ji Zhiwei could cook her a meal.
The villa was the only place she could practice cooking.
For several days in a row, even after finishing her student council work at 10 p.m., she would rush to the villa.
The back-and-forth was exhausting, but she wanted to do better.
[Yun-jie, it’s that time of the month. Do you need me to come today?]
As she did every month, Ji Zhiwei took the initiative to send Gu Yunhui a message.
It wasn’t until the afternoon that Gu Yunhui replied.
At the time, Ji Zhiwei was in class. She always sat in the front row and listened attentively.
But this time, she had to pull out her phone to quickly check Gu Yunhui’s message.
[Yun: Too busy, two meetings. I’ll just take suppressants.]
Ji Zhiwei couldn’t help but feel disappointed.
[Okay.] But she couldn’t show it too much.
Beside her, Meng Yu noticed the professor’s gaze and nudged Ji Zhiwei.
Startled by the unfamiliar touch on her waist, Ji Zhiwei nearly jumped.
She quickly put her phone away, earning only a sharp look from the professor.
She lowered her head, embarrassed.
Gu Yunhui had rejected their monthly arrangement. The day suddenly felt unbearably long.
The autumn heat scorched the earth, leaving no refuge from the discomfort.
Her classmates’ cutting remarks also seemed harsher than usual.
“She’s so jumpy must be texting her lover or her sugar daddy. The other day, my friend in the student council said she was texting during a meeting too. What kind of person do you think it is? Some old geezer?”
“Flirting in class, the third-ranked student has more nerve than the top-ranked one.”
“Sitting in the front row and not paying attention? So disrespectful to the professor.”
Ji Zhiwei didn’t care much about the other comments, but the “old geezer” remark stung a little.
Her patron was a stunning beauty. A top-tier omega. Being her canary was practically a steal for Ji Zhiwei even if it meant being marked by Gu Yunhui.
Not that she could say that out loud. She could only secretly relish the thought.
“Weiwei, do you have plans again tonight?” Meng Yu shot a glare at the classmates gossiping about Ji Zhiwei’s brief glance at her phone and hurried to catch up with her.
Not far away, Fang Xianqing spotted the girl beside Ji Zhiwei and adjusted his glasses, his expression slightly awkward. He ultimately didn’t approach any closer.
“The student council has work, and it might be too late otherwise.” Though she said that, Ji Zhiwei still planned to go to the small villa.
Better safe than sorry. If Gu Yunhui needed her and she was busy, that would be truly awkward.
“Can we have a meal together? It’s been so long since we last ate together,” Meng Yu pleaded.
Ji Zhiwei hesitated. It was rare for her to have a friend.
“If I’m sure nothing’s happening, then yes. If not, maybe we can have lunch together another day.”
“Busy bee, have you forgotten you’ve got rehearsals at noon lately?” Meng Yu would’ve loved to have lunch with Ji Zhiwei.
“Sorry, it’ll be better after the school anniversary is over.”
Meng Yu followed her into the library and sighed inwardly.
Say what you will, but one thing the forums got right Ji Zhiwei really was cold by nature.
Beautiful and brilliant, yet lacking in friendships. No wonder she was constantly envied.
In the end, Ji Zhiwei stood Meng Yu up. After finishing her student council duties, she hurried straight to the villa.
She had only been sitting in the living room for two minutes when the door unexpectedly opened.
It was Gu Yunhui. Instantly, Ji Zhiwei’s expression brightened, finally resembling that of a girl in her early twenties.
She sprang up and dashed toward the door, nearly throwing herself into Gu Yunhui’s arms.
Gu Yunhui seemed genuinely surprised.
“You’ve been coming back here often lately?” Gu Yunhui steadied the girl, who nearly stumbled, and handed her something to put away.
“Ah, the dorm is noisy. Midterms are coming up, and it’s easier to focus here.”
Ji Zhiwei offered an excuse, not wanting to seem too deliberate or disobedient. After all, Gu Yunhui had told her she didn’t need to come.
Gu Yunhui nodded. “Fine, since you’re here anyway.” She reached up and peeled off her suppressant patch.
The cool, sweet scent of pine and smoke hit Ji Zhiwei’s senses, and for a moment, the alpha’s mind went blank.
“W-wait, Sister Yun. I haven’t washed yet.” They were still at the entrance, and Gu Yunhui hadn’t even closed the door.
“What’s the problem? Are you dirty?” Gu Yunhui didn’t seem to care.
She shut the door, rinsed her hands briefly, then began stripping off Ji Zhiwei’s extra layers.
“It’s hot out.” Ji Zhiwei was already pinned to the floor by Gu Yunhui.
Beneath her were the clothes she had just shed, still warm from her body heat, but not enough to mask the chill of the floor.
“Doesn’t matter. You’re just a kid.”
Gu Yunhui’s hands roamed over her, the omega’s scent enveloping Ji Zhiwei completely.
As an alpha, Ji Zhiwei still carried the instinct to mark an omega.
The pheromones stirred something deep within her, a primal mix of aggression and possessiveness.
She frowned, the glands at the back of her neck pulsing uncontrollably, releasing the fragrance of gardenias.
Gu Yunhui’s pheromones weren’t typical for an omega and Ji Zhiwei’s weren’t typical for an alpha.
They matched perfectly, blending seamlessly.
In the air, the two intense scents tangled inextricably.
On the ground, Gu Yunhui clung to Ji Zhiwei, biting down as if she wanted to carve her teeth into the alpha’s flesh.
An omega’s heat came on fiercely. The moment the suppressant patch was removed, the entire living room filled with her distinct pheromones.
The alpha’s scent fought back, trying to overpower the pine and smoke, but what little rationality Ji Zhiwei had left held it in check.
She was merely a canary.
Gu Yunhui was like her master. She could not defy the one above her.
Struggling against instinct was always painful. Even if this was the fortieth time, Ji Zhiwei still faltered.
For once, Ji Zhiwei sensed warmth emanating from Gu Yunhui.
Yet the floor was so cold, and still, it failed to bring Ji Zhiwei back to reason.
She gazed at the one she loved, the omega she adored.
She gazed at her desire, her restraint.
She thought of the forbidden discipline and the reckless abandon that shattered all constraints.
Above and below, heat and cold intertwined; agony and ecstasy took turns.
Half belonged to another, half was her own.
Half was order, half was indulgence.
Ji Zhiwei’s eyes reddened she could bear it no longer.
She reached out, hooked her arms around Gu Yunhui’s neck, and tried to sink her teeth into the omega’s sweet scent gland.
