The Cold CEO Chases His White Moonlight - Chapter 18
“Why are you crying?” Gu Yunhui was the type who softened at vulnerability rather than resistance. Seeing Ji Zhiwei’s tears, her heart melted, and she couldn’t bring herself to scold her anymore.
“I’m not.” Unfortunately, the young girl was too embarrassed to admit it and stubbornly denied it.
She tried hard to wipe away her tears, sniffling as she attempted to burrow into Gu Yunhui’s embrace.
“You think I can’t tell whether you’re crying or not? I’m not blind.” Gu Yunhui even reached out to wipe Ji Zhiwei’s cheek, confirming that there were indeed tears.
Ji Zhiwei nearly choked up. She forced her tear ducts under control, squeezing out the excess moisture until she stopped crying.
“I wasn’t crying. An eyelash got in my eye.” Ji Zhiwei had always been stubborn.
“Sure, sure. What a little crybaby. Your tear ducts sure are active.”
Since Ji Zhiwei refused to say, Gu Yunhui couldn’t be bothered to guess why she had cried until three in the morning. She just patted Ji Zhiwei’s head as a half-hearted consolation.
The nickname was kind of cute. So Ji Zhiwei made another effort to squeeze out a few more tears.
“Forgot you’re quite the actress.” Gu Yunhui saw right through it, she could tell exactly what Ji Zhiwei was feeling just by looking into her eyes.
Thinking of something rather inappropriate, Gu Yunhui suddenly grew a little interested.
“Why don’t you cry like this when we’re… you know?” The way Ji Zhiwei had looked earlier, tear-stained and delicate, was adorable, her sobs as melodious as a nightingale’s song, enough to make someone want to tease her.
“Didn’t I?” She remembered crying then too.
Ji Zhiwei was naturally gifted in that regard, self-taught and skilled, even knowing how to beg for mercy between sobs often driving Gu Yunhui to lose a bit of her composure.
“Hmph. Next time, if I want you to cry, you’d better cry. Got it?”
Gu Yunhui added another item to her list of mischievous interests: making Ji Zhiwei cry.
“Got it!” Who would’ve thought her acting skills would be put to use in something like this?
Then again, maybe she wouldn’t even need to act after all, if things got too intense, she’d shed tears on her own.
“Go to sleep.” If it weren’t so late, Gu Yunhui would’ve been tempted to test her theory right then.
Ji Zhiwei snuggled closer to Gu Yunhui, clearly wanting something too.
“You want it that badly? If you don’t sleep now, I’ll make you play with yourself while I watch.”
Gu Yunhui flicked Ji Zhiwei’s forehead to stop her from inching any closer.
“…” Could she even refuse? Ji Zhiwei swallowed hard.
She settled down obediently and soon fell asleep.
Gu Yunhui held her, imagining certain scenarios, and found herself too restless to sleep.
She’d definitely have to try it next time. Closing her eyes, Gu Yunhui finally drifted off.
The next morning, when Ji Zhiwei woke up, Gu Yunhui was still in bed, a laptop in hand, fingers clattering away at the keyboard.
But judging by her expression, it didn’t seem like she was working.
“Good morning, Yun-jie.”
“Mhm, morning.” Gu Yunhui didn’t stop typing.
Was she playing a game?
Though curious, Ji Zhiwei couldn’t exactly investigate. She got up and went to prepare Gu Yunhui’s toiletries.
“Yun-jie, what would you like for breakfast? Should I make something?” After washing up and heading downstairs, Ji Zhiwei though healed from her earlier wounds hadn’t forgotten the lesson. She asked just to be safe.
“No need, I’ll have someone deliver it.” Gu Yunhui meant that she didn’t want Ji Zhiwei to go through the trouble.
“Oh!” Ji Zhiwei took it to mean that Gu Yunhui didn’t want to eat her cooking.
So she really did think it was terrible. Ji Zhiwei’s expression fell as she trudged toward the kitchen.
Seeing the girl sulk off to cook on her own, Gu Yunhui grew irritated again.
She deleted the “2” on the food delivery page and changed it to “1,” then sat back on the couch, continuing her game to vent her frustration.
The food arrived, and Ji Zhiwei had also prepared her own portion.
The two sat down at the dining table. Ji Zhiwei glanced at the portions sure enough, there was none for her.
The meal left both of them in silence.
After eating, Ji Zhiwei washed the dishes while Gu Yunhui continued her rampage in the game.
Once finished, Ji Zhiwei hesitated for a moment before inching closer to Gu Yunhui.
“What?” Gu Yunhui shot her a glance, typing even more aggressively on her keyboard.
Instinctively afraid, Ji Zhiwei froze in place.
She knew how much people hated being disturbed while gaming.
Only after Gu Yunhui finished a round did Ji Zhiwei dare to approach again.
Gu Yunhui snapped her laptop shut, revealing nothing to Ji Zhiwei.
Ji Zhiwei retreated.
Gu Yunhui’s blood pressure spiked. She grabbed the girl and pulled her into her arms.
“…” It took her about five seconds to realize something was off.
Ji Zhiwei’s pajamas, specially chosen by Gu Yunhui, were thin and loose. With that one motion, the shoulder strap slid halfway down, barely clinging on, just a hair’s breadth from…
The girl’s skin was as smooth as cream, fair with a rosy tint, delicate yet vibrant, like flawless jade.
Where Gu Yunhui had gripped her, a faint red mark lingered not deep, but all the more suggestive.
Most importantly, there was no resistance in Ji Zhiwei’s eyes only obedience.
“Ahem.” In broad daylight, Gu Yunhui felt a little embarrassed and adjusted the strap back into place.
“What did you want to do?” Gu Yunhui let go, no longer pulling at Ji Zhiwei.
She had planned to wait until nightfall, as usual.
Ji Zhiwei thought Gu Yunhui was hinting at something and whispered a word.
Now she couldn’t be blamed. Before pinning the girl down, Gu Yunhui thought to herself.
“Come on, Zhizi. Cry for me.” Gu Yunhui gripped Ji Zhiwei’s waist, nipped at her neck, and commanded in her ear.
Ji Zhiwei bit her lip and began to shed tears.
Her earlobe was seized between teeth, and with Gu Yunhui’s ungentle pressure, even if she hadn’t been acting, Ji Zhiwei would have whimpered.
She maintained soft, controlled sobs, treating it as practice for her tear ducts.
Gu Yunhui tore away the flimsy fabric and, fueled by the girl’s tears, continued to torment her.
The girl’s reactions were just like those of someone truly being bullied her crying was heartbreaking, and her squirming unease only served as a catalyst, stirring Gu Yunhui’s primal instincts.
A bite made the girl furrow her brows and bite her lips harder, tears swelling and spilling from the corners of her eyes.
A kiss drew a few choked sobs from her, her crying earnest but yielding only a few more drops.
What followed was beyond words, all raw emotion, no technique.
Gu Yunhui was unusually patient today, tormenting her relentlessly, refusing to grant Ji Zhiwei any relief.
Frustrated, Ji Zhiwei even tried to guide Gu Yunhui’s hand herself.
Gu Yunhui denied her, only escalating the torment.
Once was enough to leave Ji Zhiwei utterly spent.
Only when her tears had dried, her face was a mess, and her voice was hoarse as a broken gong did Gu Yunhui finally relent.
“Clean up. It’s all yours…” Gu Yunhui returned from washing her hands, frowning at the sofa cushion.
“Mmm, don’t say it, I’ll take care of it right away.” Ji Zhiwei’s ears burned at the word.
“Open the window too. The whole place smells like you.”
Even without a mark, the scent of gardenias lingered, mixed with something far more indecent.
“Right away!” Ji Zhiwei didn’t dare rest any longer, springing up in fear that if she lingered, Gu Yunhui would say something even more outrageous.
After teasing the little girl, Gu Yunhui was in high spirits.
When Ji Zhiwei finished her tasks and returned, Gu Yunhui crooked a finger at her.
“Earlier, I was asking what you wanted to do today. Shopping? Reading?”
Only then did Ji Zhiwei realize how embarrassing her earlier words had been.
She buried her face in a pillow, leaving only a red, burning ear tip exposed to Gu Yunhui.
“No answer?” Gu Yunhui pinched that crimson peak.
“I want to watch a movie.” Ji Zhiwei slowly lifted her head, not daring to meet Gu Yunhui’s gaze.
“Then play one.”
“Will you watch with me?” Ji Zhiwei suddenly understood. Did Gu Yunhui want to spend the holiday with her?
“I have nothing else to do, so why not?” Gu Yunhui rolled her eyes. The girl was foolish, and so was her question so stupid she wanted to flick her forehead.
“Ah, but I wanted to study… I’ll play it, I’ll play it right away.”
Meeting Gu Yunhui’s gaze, Ji Zhiwei said no more and dashed back to her room to fetch her laptop and USB drive.
Gu Yunhui glanced at Ji Zhiwei’s legs.
She took back her earlier thought this girl must have been exercising, otherwise how could she run so fast? They had just finished not long ago.
“Wait, it’s a holiday. Instead of relaxing, you want to study?”
Gu Yunhui finally understood when she saw the papers and pen in Ji Zhiwei’s hands.
“Finals are coming up, and I’ll be joining a filming crew soon. I have to study.” Ji Zhiwei spoke with conviction as she hit play.
It was a very old movie, and the plot wasn’t particularly interesting. Gu Yunhui lost interest after five minutes.
She pulled Ji Zhiwei closer and watched as the girl took notes.
“You’ve watched this movie three times already?”
“Yes. This time, I’m focusing on analyzing the supporting characters’ acting techniques.”
Ji Zhiwei didn’t even notice how close she was to Gu Yunhui, absorbed in her studies.
If it weren’t Gu Yunhui bothering her, she wouldn’t have responded at all.
“You act in TV dramas.” Gu Yunhui tried hard to capture Ji Zhiwei’s attention.
She poked Ji Zhiwei’s waist on one side and pinched her cheek on the other, but Ji Zhiwei remained utterly indifferent, her pen never pausing.
“It’s the same. Movies demand stricter control over expressions and acting skills. This is award-winning director Peng Qi’s work, I still need to study it a few more times.”
When Gu Yunhui brushed her collarbone, Ji Zhiwei finally paused the movie and looked up expressionlessly at her.
“Go ahead and study.” Gu Yunhui was left speechless by Ji Zhiwei’s reaction, her enthusiasm deflated.
She let Ji Zhiwei go, unable to bring herself to be angry.
After all, academics were important otherwise, Gu Yunhui wouldn’t have wanted to sponsor Ji Zhiwei’s education in the first place.
It was only later, upon learning she was from the Ji family, that she felt some regret.
The child of an enemy family wouldn’t it be better if she were lazy and unambitious?
But the tuition wasn’t much, and Gu Yunhui couldn’t back out, so she continued paying.
“I won’t study anymore. Let’s watch something else.” Ji Zhiwei put away her notes.
Gu Yunhui rarely wanted to spend time with her, she couldn’t be so oblivious.
Ji Zhiwei picked a well-reviewed comedy and started playing it.
The acting was decent, the cinematography passable, the soundtrack mediocre.
Ji Zhiwei’s eyelids grew heavy. She’d rather go back to the old movie at least there was something to learn.
Gu Yunhui, however, was thoroughly enjoying herself.
Her taste in entertainment was actually quite unsophisticated. The game she’d been playing earlier was one of those “one-click level 999” browser games, so this movie, dripping with tacky charm, naturally hit her sweet spot.
Until she noticed the little girl beside her was about to fall asleep.
It seemed unlikely the two of them would ever reach a consensus about movies.
“Wake up. I’ll just take you shopping instead. Let’s buy some clothes yours are so worn out they’re embarrassing to be seen with me.” Gu Yunhui patted Ji Zhiwei’s cheek.
