The Cold CEO Chases His White Moonlight - Chapter 1
[“Remember to bring the things when you come to the villa tonight.”]
The notification tone pierced sharply through the stifling air of the meeting room.
“Sorry.” Ji Zhiwei lowered her head slightly and quietly pulled out her phone.
She had set it to silent mode but didn’t put it away just yet. Instead, she opened the message and read it.
[“Got it, Sister Yun.”]
With just a glance, she understood what the other person meant. Typing one-handed without looking, she quickly sent a reply.
Outwardly, she remained composed, listening attentively to the department head’s speech.
“Meeting adjourned. Can a few of you stay behind tonight to put in some extra work? The school anniversary is coming up.” The department head’s gaze landed on Ji Zhiwei.
Everyone else had already agreed only Ji Zhiwei hadn’t responded yet.
This was a major event. As a member of the student council, she should have stayed to help.
The extra credits they earned weren’t handed out for nothing. Those with ability had to shoulder more responsibility, only by working harder could they earn those additional points.
Especially for something as significant as the school anniversary. Ji Zhiwei herself also had a short play to rehearse and was asked whether she could stay for extra practice tonight.
Had it not been for that message, Ji Zhiwei wouldn’t have refused. But now…
“Sorry, Head. I have an urgent matter at home tonight. I’ll make up for my share of the work tomorrow without fail.”
Ji Zhiwei spoke earnestly. The department head had no choice but to accept it, though not without some displeasure.
“Some people really let fame get to their heads the moment they’re crowned campus belle. Daring to play with their phones during such a serious meeting, then making up excuses about having things to do… People from small towns really have no manners. Not even half as good as Song Lingying.”
As the department meeting ended, the alpha sitting across from Ji Zhiwei made no effort to hide his hostility, shooting her a blatantly disdainful look.
Song Lingying had been last year’s campus belle, graduating this year, which was how Ji Zhiwei, only a rising senior had managed to take her place.
Ji Zhiwei ignored him, walking side by side with a female classmate back to the dorm.
Frustrated at having his provocation fall flat, the guy spat out even uglier words.
“Wenwen, aren’t you going to say anything back?” The girl walking with her couldn’t take it anymore and snapped at him to shut up.
When she looked up again, Ji Zhiwei was already several meters ahead, so she hurried to catch up.
“No need.” Ji Zhiwei glanced at Meng Yu, subtly sidestepping to avoid linking arms with her.
“He’s been jealous of me for a long time. The more I respond, the more he’ll escalate. Besides, I really can’t compare to Senior Song.”
They were all students sheltered in the ivory tower, but Song Lingying had already successfully filmed a web series in her sophomore year. By junior year, she had landed a high-budget production that skyrocketed her to fame.
In contrast, Ji Zhiwei currently only had one or two audition invitations in hand, no guarantee she’d even be selected.
“Come on, back then it was only because… Never mind. Her family’s well-off, a Song, born with a silver spoon in her mouth. We really can’t compare. Forget that sore loser. Do you have notes from today’s class? I missed a part.” Meng Yu didn’t dwell on it, trying instead to walk closer to Ji Zhiwei.
Ji Zhiwei held her breath, taking a step back under the pretense of tying her shoelaces to avoid Meng Yu.
The Song family. It had been so long since she’d kept up with the power dynamics of the capital that she hadn’t realized such a family now stood among the top four.
Ji Zhiwei only knew one thing, family background wasn’t everything. In the end, she had to rely on herself.
On the way back to the dorm, countless pairs of eyes turned toward Ji Zhiwei, the newly crowned campus belle, making even Meng Yu uncomfortable.
“Seriously, girl, how are you so calm? Those alphas are staring at you like that, doesn’t it creep you out? You’re an alpha too, after all.”
Being stared at with covetous eyes by another alpha, just the thought of it made Meng Yu feel humiliated.
Ji Zhiwei seemed to notice the crowd around her only then, pausing briefly in her steps.
“We’re both entering the entertainment industry. We’ll have to get used to this kind of attention in the future.”
In truth, she had just been lost in thought.
Meng Yu found her reasoning sound and tried her best to adapt.
The two entered the dormitory. Ji Zhiwei handed her notes to Meng Yu before heading to the female alpha dormitory building.
Their room was a four-person dorm but only housed three.
Ji Zhiwei’s two roommates were both wearing headphones, analyzing a film. When they saw her return, they took them off and greeted her.
“Eating together tonight?” Fang Xianqing asked.
“Sorry, I have plans tonight,” Ji Zhiwei replied. She had only come back to retrieve something.
“Right, you’re so busy with the student council.”
Ji Zhiwei didn’t refute it.
Only after she left the dorm with the item did a student from the neighboring room slip in and whisper to Ji Zhiwei’s roommates.
“Didn’t you know? She turned down both the student council meeting and the short play rehearsal tonight. She might seem aloof, but there have been rumors for a while that she’s being kept…”
“Don’t spread baseless gossip,” Fang Xianqing adjusted her glasses, cutting them off.
Sitting in the taxi, Ji Zhiwei held the bag of items, quietly gazing out the window.
She wasn’t unaware of the rumors, nor was she willingly letting them spread.
It was just unfortunate, they were all true.
She couldn’t refute facts.
The small villa was in a remote location, so Ji Zhiwei usually took the subway.
But today, Gu Yunhui had asked her to bring those things along. Too embarrassed to take the subway, she had no choice but to splurge on a taxi.
She had to double the fare before a driver finally accepted her request. An hour later, Ji Zhiwei finally arrived at the villa.
The moment she stepped out of the car, barely steady on her feet, the driver sped off with an irritated huff.
Steadying herself, Ji Zhiwei fished out her keys.
Gu Yunhui could afford a place in the inner city, she just didn’t want Ji Zhiwei living there.
Ji Zhiwei didn’t ask for more. Besides, this villa was, in name, hers.
, A reward for four years as a caged canary.
Ji Zhiwei placed the items in a corner of the master bedroom on the second floor, then obediently picked up the pajamas Gu Yunhui had prepared for her and slipped into the bathroom.
Judging by the time, Gu Yunhui wouldn’t arrive for another half hour. Ji Zhiwei waited twenty minutes before turning on the water and starting her shower.
This timing held an unspoken, calculated intention.
The bathroom’s glass door was semi-transparent.
The inside was mirrored, obscuring the view from within. But from the outside, it was clear, every movement inside was visible.
Ji Zhiwei washed carefully, keeping the water pressure low. Soon, she heard the bedroom door open.
A jolt of nervous tension stiffened her. Not being able to see outside left her uneasy.
Had her decision to shower early been too presumptuous? Would Gu Yunhui even like it?
Taking a few deep breaths, Ji Zhiwei forced herself to continue.
Gu Yunhui entered the room and immediately spotted her little canary showering in the bathroom.
Normally, the girl would be freshly washed and waiting for her. Today’s display was nothing short of a blatant seduction.
Gu Yunhui wiped her back, perhaps brushing off sweat.
She was no saint. Naturally, she took the bait without hesitation.
She noticed the bag in the corner, deftly pulled out a peach-pink pudding-like object from it, and headed into the bathroom.
The young girl was still flustered. Unable to see the outside world, she felt at a loss.
Confusion painted her face, adding a touch of innocence.
Her skin wasn’t entirely visible.
The white lather of body wash covered her as Ji Zhiwei kept moving, leaving Gu Yunhui with only glimpses of spring scenery.
More details were filled in by the conditioned reflexes formed through countless moments of ambiguity.
After admiring for a while, Gu Yunhui deliberately made some noise.
She turned on the faucet, rinsed the object in her hand, and glanced back at Ji Zhiwei, sure enough, the girl froze again.
Her eyes were still fixed blankly in the distance, her cheeks and ears already flushed from the steam, now reddening to the point of seeming ready to bleed.
She bit her cherry-like, moist lips, her expression tense yet adorable.
Gu Yunhui shook off the water from the object in her hand, shed the unnecessary clothing, and opened the bathroom door.
Ji Zhiwei was clearly startled.
She shrank back, pressing herself into the corner. Upon seeing the peach-pink object in Gu Yunhui’s hand, her embarrassment deepened. She opened her mouth to call out, but the heat stifled her voice.
“Little Gardenia, not welcoming me?” Gu Yunhui reached out, brushed aside a strand of brown hair, tucked it behind Ji Zhiwei’s ear, and casually grazed the girl’s collagen-rich cheek.
Ji Zhiwei visibly swallowed.
Her usually proud acting skills failed her completely.
She stammered several times before squeezing out a single “No,” then bit her lip and lowered her head again.
“Is that so? I thought you were playing hard to get luring me in, then refusing to take responsibility.” Gu Yunhui gently embraced Ji Zhiwei.
“Look up. You’re beautiful.” From every angle, in every way, she was beautiful. Only beautiful.
The familiar scent of her body barely calmed Ji Zhiwei.
Obediently, she raised her head to look at her patron. Gu Yunhui’s amber eyes, like a starry sky, intoxicated her.
Ji Zhiwei’s gaze grew hazy. Relaxing, she tentatively reached for Gu Yunhui’s waist, wanting to return the embrace.
Gu Yunhui didn’t give her the chance, trapping her hands behind her back.
Ji Zhiwei stopped resisting, quietly awaiting Gu Yunhui’s next move.
The water from the faucet was hot, but Gu Yunhui’s fingers remained cold.
The coolness of her fingertips glided over Ji Zhiwei’s skin, the stark contrast in temperature making the touch all the more pronounced.
Ji Zhiwei’s breathing quickened. She wanted so badly to…
As Gu Yunhui’s fingers traced her cheek, Ji Zhiwei abruptly took one into her mouth.
“Still acting mischievous, Little Gardenia?” The words carried a hint of warning, yet from Gu Yunhui’s lips, they sounded as frivolous as if soaked in neon lights and liquor.
Encouraged, Ji Zhiwei lightly swirled her tongue around Gu Yunhui’s fingertip, teasing it just as Gu Yunhui had teased her skin moments ago.
Only when Ji Zhiwei felt warmth did she push Gu Yunhui’s finger out with her tongue.
As if trying to warm her owner’s heart but unable to reach it, she could only start with the easiest point of contact.
The faucet was right beside them, yet Gu Yunhui didn’t wash her finger. Instead, she let it wander to the places she knew and loved.
Ji Zhiwei leaned against the wall, her hands gripping the rope.
Much later, Gu Yunhui turned Ji Zhiwei over, setting her sights on the alpha’s supposedly unmarkable gland. With practiced ease, she bit down.
Rewards often come with pain and embarrassment.
Ji Zhiwei had grown somewhat numb to being marked by this omega, even beginning to enjoy it.
Gu Yunhui didn’t mark anyone else, only her.
Gu Yunhui had no one else, only her.
How could Ji Zhiwei not be delighted by that?
Under the shower’s spray, the two washed up briefly again, avoiding any mention of the near slip-up.
By the time they stepped out of the bathroom, it was already late at night.
Ji Zhiwei cracked open the window slightly, letting the autumn dryness and the lingering heat of hormones dissipate together.
Gu Yunhui lay on the lounge chair with her eyes closed, seemingly waiting for Ji Zhiwei to finish freshening up.
“Yun-jie,” Ji Zhiwei obediently walked over to Gu Yunhui, crouched down, and gazed up at her.
“You were very good today. Did well.” Gu Yunhui opened her eyes and stroked Ji Zhiwei’s hair, as if coaxing a little pet.
The little pet grinned and wagged her tail at her, lifting Gu Yunhui’s mood even more.
“I can give you a reward. What do you want? A new bag? Clothes?” Gu Yunhui was referring to material things, money, essentially.
A sugar mommy and her kept songbird were, after all, just a transaction of money and flesh.
But Ji Zhiwei didn’t want money.
After a moment of thought, she cautiously asked, “Can I take you out to dinner tomorrow or the day after?”
