The Cold and Distant Actress is Too Obsessive - Chapter 1
A dull ache throbbed in her head, as if someone were stirring her brain with an awl. Xu Youyan somewhat regretted drinking so much at the wrap party the day before.
But there was no helping it Bo Zhoucheng’s new movie had flopped, and Xu Youyan was genuinely overjoyed.
Shouldn’t one be happy when a rival’s film tanks?
Bo Zhoucheng, the newly crowned film queen. She debuted at eighteen, winning countless awards for her role in The Dancer of the Sea, and rose to fame overnight.
She exuded an icy aura that could freeze a person to death, which Xu Youyan detested. During their first collaboration on a TV drama, Xu Youyan had attempted to strike up a conversation with her several times.
Each time, she received nothing but a cold, indifferent “Hmm.”
It was as if she were the reincarnation of an ice spirit. But what was even more infuriating was this:
When the media asked Bo Zhoucheng about her thoughts on working with Xu Youyan, the acclaimed actress merely pursed her vibrant red lips, her delicate brows slightly furrowed, and casually brushed aside the stray hairs by her ear.
“Just a pretty face. No reason to work together again.”
Because of that remark, the public immediately labeled them as rivals.
Xu Youyan had debuted as an idol. In terms of popularity, she could outshine most in the industry by miles. However, due to her abysmal acting skills, many privately mocked her as nothing more than a “pretty face.”
Rolling over in bed, Xu Youyan instinctively reached for her phone, but her fingertips brushed against something soft and warm.
“Huh?”
Since when was her phone soft?
Lost in thought, Xu Youyan opened her eyes and saw a stunningly beautiful face. Strands of hair fell across the brows, and the person looked serene.
Her lips were pale pink and thin, with a mole beside her nose. As Xu Youyan’s gaze drifted downward, she noticed the collarbones tinged with a faint blush.
However, when Xu Youyan reached out to touch that face, she noticed the eyebrows arched upward, giving off a somewhat heroic aura, and the eyelashes were long and curled. The more she looked, the more it resembled someone.
“Oh my god, Bo Zhoucheng!”
Xu Youyan’s heart nearly leaped out of her chest. She lifted her foot and kicked.
The sleeping person, completely unprepared, tumbled off the edge of the bed with a loud “thud.”
A pair of slender hands gripped the bedside, fingers long and elegant, knuckles slightly prominent.
Bo Zhoucheng rubbed her aching head, but her tone was indulgent, without a trace of anger at being kicked.
“Yanyan, you really should fix your bad sleeping habits.”
“Who are you calling Yanyan!”
Xu Youyan instinctively retorted. That was her childhood nickname only her parents and grandparents were allowed to use it. How dare this ice-cold Bo Zhoucheng call her that!
As she spoke, Xu Youyan suddenly realized her shoulders felt chilly. She immediately wrapped herself in the blanket, glaring at Bo Zhoucheng as if facing a villain.
“You, what did you do to me!”
Xu Youyan spoke while scooting backward.
Damn it! She was no longer pure!
“Yanyan, you were the one who came to me.”
Bo Zhoucheng was baffled. Just yesterday, the other woman had clung to her waist, calling her “baby” and refusing to let go.
“You, you’re slandering me!”
“I’d rather share a bed with a dog than with you!”
Xu Youyan’s eyes darted around until she finally spotted her clothes discarded on the floor and her phone tossed on the nightstand.
But…
Why did the phone model look so strange? She had never seen it before. Although the logo on the back was still Apple, it appeared sleeker and more luxurious.
“What’s wrong? Did I upset you again?”
“Yanyan, you should know Chen Hua and I were only promoting the new movie. There’s nothing between us like you think.”
Chen Hua was someone Xu Youyan had never even heard of.
But now wasn’t the time to dwell on that. She frantically unlocked her phone, only to discover that the wallpaper was Bo Zhoucheng. The woman in the photo was smiling softly, a far cry from the icy aura of the acclaimed actress. She was holding an ice cream, beaming at the camera like a radiant spring day.
Had she lost her mind, setting her rival as her wallpaper?!
Xu Youyan could only believe this was a dream a nightmare, in fact so she pinched her own cheek, the pain spreading instantly.
“Ouch~”
Yet even so, Xu Youyan still refused to believe she had slept with the person she despised the most.
She kept tugging at her cheek, trying to wake herself from this nightmare.
“Don’t do that.”
Bo Zhoucheng reached out and gently held her hand. Wearing only a thin garment, she crouched down.
“I’ll reduce my joint promotions with Chen Hua from now on, Yanyan. Please don’t be angry!”
Compared to the fact that they were together, Bo Zhoucheng’s sickeningly gentle tone was even more terrifying to Xu Youyan.
Bo Zhoucheng, relying on her exceptional acting skills, had always been arrogant and held harsh, critical opinions of others in the industry. Even when greeting peers of the same status, she would only give a slight nod, which had earned her plenty of criticism from fans of other celebrities for being conceited.
But the numerous awards she had won proved she had the capital and the ability to back it up.
Xu Youyan’s rusty brain began to function, suddenly recalling the plot of a cheesy novel she had read. Trembling, she asked Bo Zhoucheng, “What year is it?”
Bo Zhoucheng looked puzzled but answered anyway. “2033. Why do you ask?”
After she spoke, she only saw Xu Youyan, who was sitting on the bed, collapse in despair.
It’s not 2023! That means I’ve aged ten years!
Xu Youyan couldn’t believe it. When others traveled through time, they either went to ancient times to become noble ladies or were reborn into their childhood, using their knowledge to level up and defeat obstacles, becoming winners in life.
But she? She had the misfortune of losing ten whole years!
From a fresh-faced 20-year-old rising star to nearly thirty!
Xu Youyan lay on the bed like a dead fish, feeling utterly hopeless. She wondered if jumping from this hotel building would send her back ten years.
But she didn’t have the courage.
As Xu Youyan was still lost in thought, her phone rang. She instinctively answered.
“Hello!”
Xu Youyan sounded weak and listless, still unable to accept the fact that she had aged ten years.
“Xu Youyan, how much longer are you going to cling to Bo Zhoucheng? You can’t be late for today’s shoot, understand?!”
Her manager’s voice was filled with suppressed anger. Xu Youyan snapped to attention and glanced at the name on her phone.
It read Peng Ding, her manager.
“Sorry, I’ll be right there.”
Xu Youyan wanted to throw off the covers but then realized she was completely naked. She stared pointedly at Bo Zhoucheng, her meaning clear.
Bo Zhoucheng sighed softly and turned away.
She rubbed the back of her head, the pain finally catching up to her. Why?
Why had Xu Youyan’s personality become so strange after just one night?
Could it really be because she had been too close to Chen Hua.
But it was just a simple movie promotion. As someone in the industry, Xu Youyan should understand that.
After Xu Youyan finished getting ready, her assistant was already waiting anxiously outside the door, holding a face mask and sunglasses clearly prepared in advance.
