The Clingy Coquette and His Straight Roommate - Chapter 6
Chapter 6: Little Wife
Coaxing.
This word was subtle and stirred up a lot of imagination.
Bo Jingshi was like a cold, powerful, cold-blooded animal, while Yu Lan was a soft little lamb. Yet the beast was actually willing to lower its head to coax a weak animal and generously admit it: I am coaxing you.
Yu Lan couldn’t help but feel a little smug. His eyes were bright and moving with joy, and his brows were lifted with cheer, yet he still maintained a reserved, icy little face, huffing: “I’m not that easy to coax.”
But the invisible little tail behind him was clearly wagging all the way to the sky.
Bo Jingshi said, “Then I’ll go buy it for you again tomorrow.”
Yu Lan gave another smug hum. Successfully manipulating a “strong person” gave him a massive sense of accomplishment, especially since this “strong person” was cold to everyone else.
The corners of his mouth curled up and then were pressed down; his small expressions were incredibly rich. Finally, he said with feigned reluctance: “Well, alright then.”
Bo Jingshi had no classes in his senior year, and his studio hadn’t been particularly busy lately. He mostly stayed at school, discussing coursework and post-graduation plans with professors.
After leaving the office, he drove to the mall to pick up a pre-ordered dessert. Yesterday, he had added the owner on WeChat and opened a membership card to enjoy VIP benefits.
After parking the car and entering the campus, he noticed a Bentley parked at the gate. A kind-looking elderly man got out of the passenger side.
Standing in front of the elderly man was a fair-skinned young boy.
Yu Lan was wearing a mint green short-sleeved shirt today, a sun-protection bucket hat on his head, a small fan hanging around his neck, and a cute camera bag slung across his chest. He looked like he had just returned from outside.
His snowy, beautiful little face was steamed a bit pink by the sun, and his deep sapphire-like eyes were shimmering with an inviting watery light.
“Young Master, these are chestnuts, still warm,” the elderly man said, handing over a package. “You said you wanted some a while ago, so the Madam made them.”
Yu Lan immediately broke into a happy, cheerful smile. When he smiled, the contours of his double eyelids became very distinct. His tender white apple cheeks and the tiny tiger tooth he revealed made him look exceptionally sweet and energetic.
“Thank you, Uncle!” He hurriedly took the bag and lowered his head to take an earnest sniff. “It smells so good!”
The elderly man watched Yu Lan with a faint smile. Their little young master had an extremely romantic and innocent temperament; perhaps because he had never suffered since childhood, he was simple and liked to directly express his feelings and needs.
They exchanged a few more pleasantries before the elderly man got back into the car and left the A-University entrance.
Yu Lan held the chestnuts in one hand and the small fan in the other, aiming it at his heat-flushed face to try and cool himself down.
His eyes sharpened as he spotted Bo Jingshi. Bo Jingshi happened to be looking at him as well. Seeing the dessert shop bag in Bo Jingshi’s hand, Yu Lan waved enthusiastically and jogged over.
“This is for today.” When Yu Lan approached, Bo Jingshi pointed to the dessert bag. Yu Lan reached for it, but Bo Jingshi pulled his arm back slightly. “I’ll carry it.”
“I’ll give it to you when we get back to the dorm.”
Yu Lan also held up the chestnuts in his hand, his eyes curving into crescents. “Senior, this is for you!”
“For me?”
Bo Jingshi looked at Yu Lan skeptically. Yu Lan blinked his eyes: “Yes, it’s for you. Thank you for buying me dessert. It was delicious, I liked it a lot.”
Bo Jingshi took the package. A delicious scent of chestnuts wafted out, still steaming hot. His cold expression became a bit unnatural; this seemed to be the first time someone had given him a gift.
More accurately, it was the first time someone had given him something and he had actually accepted it.
The atmosphere suddenly fell silent.
Few people knew that Bo Jingshi had a habit: the more nervous or emotionally complex he felt, the colder his expression became.
Yu Lan was naturally afraid of people who looked fierce, so he didn’t dare to continue the conversation.
He lowered his head and looked at the pebbles by his feet, grumbling in his heart. The person who said he was coaxing him yesterday and promised to buy him desserts every day—why was he so fierce again today…
Yu Lan was incredibly depressed. He looked up and realized the distance between them had grown quite large. He hurriedly chased after him, anxiously grabbing a corner of Bo Jingshi’s back. The pull caused Bo Jingshi to lean back slightly.
Bo Jingshi, having balanced himself, turned halfway to look at Yu Lan. Before he could speak, Yu Lan said aggrievedly: “You’re walking too fast…”
He tilted up his pink face and said in a very small voice: “I was already walking very fast, but Senior, your strides are too big. I tried very hard to keep up.”
“Can you please go a little slower?”
Damp, bright eyes; an expectant, soft gaze; and a soft, lingering voice.
Bo Jingshi’s eyelashes flickered. His heart felt a slight itch, as if tickled by a feather. His words and actions began to bypass his control.
“Okay.” He walked to Yu Lan’s side, shortening the distance between them. He asked, “Are you tired?”
“Huh?”
“Let’s sit for a while.”
Perhaps because Yu Lan was too fair, his skin turned pink after being in the sun for a bit. His forehead, pink beneath the white, was covered in a thin layer of sweat; he looked exhausted.
Yu Lan felt uncomfortable being stared at and unconsciously licked his lips. His already plump lips became wet from the licking.
The small, exquisite labial pearl was like a ripe berry; the thin, translucent lip flesh was like jelly—even a slight bit of pressure could make it look like juice was about to be licked out.
Bo Jingshi’s brow furrowed again, and his face became even colder. He led Yu Lan to a shaded spot. “I’ll go buy you some water.”
Back at the dorm, Bo Jingshi placed the dessert on Yu Lan’s desk. His own seat was next to Yu Lan’s, separated by a ladder.
When he returned to his seat, Yu Lan followed him and stared at him with an expectant, bright gaze.
“Senior, the chestnuts look so delicious.”
“…”
Bo Jingshi reminded him, “This is what you gave to me.”
The emphasized “me” did not deter Yu Lan. His eyelashes blinked; the long, dense black lashes curled upward slightly, making his eye sockets look deeper and his features more exquisite and pitiful.
Yu Lan said softly, “Share some with me, Senior. I really want to eat them too, but I don’t have any left.”
“Why didn’t you split them into two bags?”
“I was only thinking about you and forgot.”
Yu Lan didn’t blink when he lied. He simply didn’t like peeling them, so he was playing a little trick to get Bo Jingshi to peel them for him.
But Bo Jingshi actually believed him.
Because Yu Lan’s expression was too sincere, too vivid, and beautiful.
As his fan-like eyelashes flickered, ripples were instantly stirred in Bo Jingshi’s cold and silent heart.
“You really are a young master, needing someone to peel chestnuts for you.”
“You—how can you call me that!”
Yu Lan’s eyelashes fluttered even faster from shame. How did Bo Jingshi know?!
When he was a child, he spent a long time being homeschooled by private tutors, and the servants at home all called him “Young Master.” It wasn’t until he started going to school that he realized many things were different from his past perceptions.
Including the title “Young Master”—many people might mock him if they heard it, but it was indeed a familiar form of address to him.
He didn’t know how much Bo Jingshi had heard, but he sheepishly reached out to tug at the clothes on Bo Jingshi’s shoulder, lowering his head and saying in a tiny voice, “Don’t call me that…”
It was one thing if people close to him called him that, but when Bo Jingshi said it, he felt nothing but shame.
His snowy little face was as tender and pink as a honey peach. His lips were pressed tight, and his small shoulders swayed slowly out of embarrassment—he looked utterly flustered.
Bo Jingshi looked at Yu Lan’s slender, white fingers; they weren’t very bony and looked very soft. He had already become accustomed to Yu Lan acting spoiled toward him. He suppressed a smile, his expression remaining very cold.
He coaxed expressionlessly: “Understood, Little Princess.”
Yu Lan raised a startled face.
Bo Jingshi also fell silent because of what he had just said.
Those words had come out without passing through his brain. He hadn’t thought about it, let alone reflected on it; it was simply his most authentic thought at that moment.
But it was very abrupt, and perhaps very offensive.
The dormitory suddenly fell into silence.
Currently, there were only the two of them in the room. This silence was accompanied by a quiet but heavy atmosphere, making both of them feel strange.
Bo Jingshi looked at the chestnuts on the table, while Yu Lan looked down at his own fingers. Neither of them spoke, yet they remained in their positions—one sitting and one standing by the desk.
Bo Jingshi was the first to move.
He opened the package, took out a chestnut, and with a slight pressure from his well-defined knuckles, the brown shell cracked, revealing the orange-yellow nut meat.
The plump, large chestnut meat emitted a fragrant aroma. Yu Lan’s eyes went straight; he could almost smell the “warmth” of the scent.
Just as Bo Jingshi pinched the meat, Yu Lan subconsciously opened his mouth to receive it.
Bo Jingshi glanced at those jelly-like lips. Just as the warm chestnut was about to touch the lower lip, his hand changed direction.
The chestnut landed in Bo Jingshi’s mouth.
The expectant little face first froze. Yu Lan remained in a posture with his lips slightly parted. Seeing Bo Jingshi’s throat move slightly as he swallowed, Yu Lan’s face withered, looking incredibly aggrieved.
Bo Jingshi didn’t say anything but continued to peel the next chestnut. The final fate of this chestnut was unknown.
Yu Lan was pacing in circles with anxiety, but he also keenly sensed one thing—Bo Jingshi was willing to peel them for him.
His soft body pressed against the lean, firm arm, and Yu Lan began to speak softly again: “Senior…”
“I really want to eat chestnuts.”
“Peel them yourself.”
The small head shook in response. Yu Lan said solemnly, “The ones Senior peels taste better.”
How old was he, needing someone to peel chestnuts for him?
Bo Jingshi had truly never seen someone so delicate. Troublesome.
It wasn’t like he didn’t have hands.
Acting spoiled was useless.
Just as Bo Jingshi finished peeling another chestnut, Yu Lan boldly grabbed his wrist, leaned in, and licked it off.
Yu Lan didn’t realize at all that they had exceeded a normal social distance; his entire attention was on the chestnut in Bo Jingshi’s hand.
The chestnut was fragrant, soft, and sweet. With a slight pressure from Bo Jingshi, the chestnut was crushed.
Parts of the chestnut crumbs stuck to Bo Jingshi’s knuckles, some fell into his palm, and some fell on the floor.
Yu Lan didn’t mind. He obediently licked them off bit by bit.
To make it easier for Yu Lan to eat, Bo Jingshi adjusted the position of his hand. When Yu Lan lowered his head to lick the palm, his face looked like it was resting in Bo Jingshi’s hand.
His little face was snowy white, the tip of his nose caught a bit of chestnut crumb, and his bright red mouth and tongue were both tiny.
Yu Lan chewed very seriously. When he swallowed, he still held onto Bo Jingshi’s wrist. It wasn’t until he had completely finished one chestnut that he realized the impropriety.
He found he was being watched the whole time.
Bo Jingshi’s gaze was dark and calm, yet it possessed a strong sense of aggression. Combined with that stern, unsmiling face, it was enough to scare the wits out of him.
Yu Lan looked down.
A hand clearly a shade darker than his was held in his grip; the knuckles and palm were wet.
Yu Lan’s face flushed as he stammered: “I… I…”
“Does it taste good?” Bo Jingshi simply asked.
Yu Lan blinked, his long eyelashes moving slowly. He nodded, looking very obedient.
Bo Jingshi looked at his trembling lashes and said without much emotion: “My hand was licked very wet by you.”
Yu Lan said guiltily: “I’ll help you wipe it clean…”
Yu Lan pulled a tissue and carefully helped Bo Jingshi wipe his hand. They were very close. Even though he was standing, because his frame was much smaller than the man’s, visually it looked as if he were nestled in the man’s arms.
After wiping it clean, Yu Lan whispered an apology. Feeling embarrassed, he wanted to go back to his seat.
“Not eating anymore?”
“Is Senior going to peel them for me?”
Yu Lan asked with a bit of a temper, but Bo Jingshi said calmly: “I’ll peel them for you.”
Yu Lan thought for a moment and asked: “Is this also part of coaxing me?”
Bo Jingshi naturally replied: “Yes.”
Yu Lan moved his chair back and sat down, obediently tilting his head up and opening his mouth to receive the chestnuts.
But this time he didn’t lick the fingers. Bo Jingshi felt as if something was missing, so he stared at Yu Lan’s lips as if in thought.
Yu Lan felt goosebumps from being stared at. His expression became serious, and his pale little face looked tense and frightened—a bit cowardly.
Bo Jingshi thought expressionlessly: Quite cute.
Bo Jingshi peeled the entire bag of chestnuts for Yu Lan.
Though it was supposed to be a gift for him, he only ate the very first one himself; the rest all went into Yu Lan’s mouth.
In the end, Yu Lan had to hold his abdomen, his small hand slowly rubbing his bulging little stomach through the thin fabric, looking up with a resentful gaze: “Why did you give them all to me? My stomach is so full.”
Bo Jingshi gave him a faint look.
He didn’t know who had been catching them with their mouth the whole time, and who would hold onto his arm and call him “Senior” while acting spoiled to urge him whenever he peeled slightly slower.
Yu Lan snapped out of it at that look, suddenly remembering that Bo Jingshi was not an easy-going person.
Although he didn’t know why Bo Jingshi was willing to peel chestnuts for him, he still gave a sweet smile: “The chestnuts Senior peels are really delicious. Thank you, Senior. You are so good to me!”
“I’ll clean up!”
Having eaten his fill, Yu Lan was extremely diligent. He stood up to take the initiative to tidy up. His limbs were long, slender, and fair; obviously, he had never done housework, so his movements were a bit clumsy.
Later, finding the chair in his way, he moved the chair back to his own area.
After moving it, he jogged back, holding a pack of wet wipes to enthusiastically help Bo Jingshi clean the chestnut shells from the table.
When his finger touched a sharp shell, he let out a small cry, presenting his clean white finger to Bo Jingshi and saying aggrievedly that it hurt.
Bo Jingshi had truly never seen someone so delicate. He said helplessly: “I’ll do it.”
But Yu Lan said: “No!”
Liao You had just returned to the dorm when he saw Yu Lan helping Bo Jingshi clean up like a “little wife.”
Bo Jingshi sat there, expressionlessly supervising Yu Lan who stood by him cleaning the desktop. The black hair on his forehead cast a faint shadow over his already cold brows, making him look even more heartless.
Liao You’s eyes gradually narrowed.
What was this?
Dormitory bullying?
