The CEO Wants to Flirt with You (GL) - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
The matter with Gong Nan and Xiao Mo was escalating. The half of the internet’s dissenting voices had turned into an overwhelming opposition in just two days, all clamoring for Gong Nan to get out of the entertainment industry. As for Xiao Mo, an unknown artist with no notable works, she was not even considered to be in the entertainment industry. For a time, all the blame was directed at Gong Nan.
Gong Nan’s latest Weibo post, which was updated a week ago, read: “I’ll be joining the crew of ‘Love Heist’ in two weeks. I wonder who I’ll be acting opposite?”
Clicking on the comments, the past praise and adoration were now drowned in insults. People were either telling her to get out of the entertainment industry or to not act in Director Xie’s movie. Some even sarcastically said that the crew wasn’t playing with her if she didn’t know who her co-star was, and she should hurry up and disappear.
Wen Qing Zhan laughed out loud as she read the comments. She turned to Gu Ying and said, “Gu Gu, don’t you think those fans are stupid? They tell someone not to act, and they actually won’t? Last time, a certain person said they wouldn’t participate in the second season of a reality show, but they still shamelessly went back to it in the end…” What a slap in the face!
Gu Ying continued to write without looking up. “What about Xiao Mo? Didn’t she want to be famous? Why hasn’t she shown up for two days?” She didn’t care about Gong Nan’s situation. What she cared about most right now was Xiao Mo.
That night, Xiao Mo hung up the phone after receiving a positive response from Wen Qing Zhan.
She thought Xiao Mo would show up at the company the next day, but there was no news for two consecutive days. It made people wonder if she had been dumped in a river by some of Gong Nan’s crazy fans…
“Her phone is not going through. She’s probably adjusting her state of mind,” Wen Qing Zhan said as she lowered her head and continued to scroll through Weibo. As if she thought of something, she turned to stare at Gu Ying.
A burning gaze lingered on the side of her face, and it was impossible to ignore. Gu Ying turned to look at Wen Qing Zhan. Their eyes met, and Gu Ying said calmly, “What are you looking at me for?” Was looking at her going to help her contact Xiao Mo?
After a long time, Wen Qing Zhan finally spoke. “Gu Gu, what’s your Weibo name? Let’s follow each other.”
“Why should you follow each other?” Chu Yanqing’s voice rang out at the door. She walked aggressively in her high heels to Gu Ying’s desk. She looked at Wen Qing Zhan, who was sitting on the side of Gu Ying’s desk, and said with a bad expression, “Sister Wen, why aren’t you out there getting advertising deals and TV roles for the artists? Are you waiting in Manager Gu’s office for our company to go bankrupt?”
Has the company not been going bankrupt for a long time?
Wen Qing Zhan glanced at the silent Gu Ying, looked up, and answered with a smile, “President Chu, I’m discussing with Manager Gu how to package the artists in the company. I believe we won’t have to worry about going bankrupt anymore soon…” The company has been in a slump for the past six months, President Chu. Do you have amnesia, President Chu?
“Very good.” Chu Yanqing nodded, looked at Gu Ying, and asked seriously, “Manager Gu, what’s your Weibo? Since you’ve joined Shengjin, it’s better to follow everyone in the company.”
Ji Yan, who was behind Chu Yanqing, felt her face heat up instantly when she heard that President Chu and Sister Wen wanted to follow Gu Ying on Weibo. The redness spread all the way to her neck. If they followed each other, wouldn’t they know that Gu Ying had posted a Weibo about her?
Fearing that Gu Ying might delete the post one day, Ji Yan had the foresight to take a screenshot of that Weibo and save it. She had one copy on her phone, one on her cloud drive, and then she posted a private Weibo on her side account. With three different ways to save it, even if Gu Ying really deleted the Weibo for some unavoidable reason, she would have no regrets.
What a cautious secretary…
Gu Ying looked up at Chu Yanqing, pondered for a moment, and then slowly said, “I don’t use Weibo.” If she followed her on Weibo, with Chu Yanqing’s personality, she would definitely go through all her posts and comment on every single one…
The thought alone was terrifying!
Ji Yan quietly let out a sigh of relief. This was great. This way, she was the only one in the company who knew Gu Ying’s Weibo. She didn’t have to worry about President Chu seeing the Weibo post about her being cute, and she didn’t have to worry about Sister Wen bothering Gu Ying…
Chu Yanqing’s eyes widened in astonishment. “You don’t use Weibo?” She looked at Gu Ying as if she were an alien. A few seconds later, she sighed again and said in an old-timer’s tone, “Manager Gu, that’s not going to work! You’re the public relations manager of our Shengjin Entertainment company. Do you know what an entertainment company means? It means you’re in the entertainment industry!”
You should be on Weibo all the time to check for trending topics and gossip! She didn’t even have a Weibo account! How could she keep up with current events! She was going to be out of touch!
Chu Yanqing began to wonder if Gu Ying was a normal person. Did she really want to flirt with a girl like this? For a moment, she had the idea of giving up on flirting with Gu Ying and just letting her be a public relations manager.
But she had already made her move!
What’s more, how could she live up to her nickname “Chu Liuxiang” if she didn’t flirt with girls!
Her mind started to turn, and a wicked look flashed in her eyes. “How about this, I’ll help you register a Weibo account.” She would help her register a Weibo account, and then… hehehe…
Gu Ying didn’t respond. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly as she countered, “President Chu, are you very free?”
What kind of company president doesn’t do their job and does these irrelevant things instead? And she was even going to help her register for Weibo! Why didn’t she just buy Weibo and give it to her instead!
Chu Yanqing raised an eyebrow and answered shamelessly, “I am very free.” She didn’t come to the company to work; she came to have fun! You know, what else could a person with so much money, power, and a good family background do besides having fun? She could leave making money to her dad and brother!
Gu Ying and Wen Qing Zhan looked at each other, speechless!
It seemed to have gotten a little awkward. Chu Yanqing thought for a moment and asked Gu Ying, “What’s the situation with Xiao Mo?” She was there when it happened, so she knew the general idea. Although she didn’t have much hope for Shengjin to go from a third-rate to a first-rate entertainment company, as the president of the company, she still had to show some hope for the company.
When it came to business, Gu Ying became serious. “I have a rough plan already. I’ll discuss it with Qing Zhan in a bit. Once the specific plan is finalized, I’ll let you know.”
Chu Yanqing really wanted to say that it was okay if they didn’t tell her, but to make a good impression, she said insincerely, “Okay, then I’ll wait for your plan.” As she said this, she even pretended to look forward to it.
Gu Ying looked at Chu Yanqing without saying a word, but the meaning in her eyes was very clear: since that’s the case, you can leave now.
Chu Yanqing pretended not to see Gu Ying’s obvious “go away” look. She looked around, and her gaze fell on the brown sofa. She turned and walked toward the sofa, stretched out her arms, and lay down lazily. She said to Ji Yan, “Ji Yan, go get the stack of documents on my office desk. I’ll work from Manager Gu’s office today.”
She turned and smiled at Gu Ying. “Manager Gu, you can discuss things with Sister Wen here. I’ll just read the documents on the side. This way, you won’t have to go to my office.” See how understanding and considerate she was!
“Manager Gu, Xiao Mo hasn’t shown up for two days. I think we should go to her house,” Wen Qing Zhan suggested with a smile. She got Gu Ying’s approval, but she got a glare from Chu Yanqing.
Wen Qing Zhan must be doing this on purpose!
What? Did she want to steal her woman? Gu Ying was the person she wanted to flirt with!
Chu Yanqing suddenly got up and said, “Sister Wen is Xiao Mo’s manager. It’s more appropriate for you to see Xiao Mo alone. As for Manager Gu, I just remembered that I have something that I need Manager Gu’s help with.” The excuse didn’t have to be creative. She was the president. As long as she said it, even if it was a terrible excuse, the other person couldn’t refuse.
Wen Qing Zhan gave Chu Yanqing a meaningful look. She turned to Gu Ying and said with a hint of regret, “In that case, I’ll go to Xiao Mo’s place alone. We can discuss the plan when I get back.” Thinking that this matter had been going on for two days, she reminded Gu Ying, “We have to strike while the iron is hot. While the popularity is still there, we have to act quickly, or we’ll miss the opportunity.”
Gu Ying smiled confidently. “As long as Xiao Mo is willing to cooperate, it’s never too late.” As long as the main character was willing to go on stage and perform, she would set up the stage for them.
Wen Qing Zhan nodded, turned, and was about to go to Xiao Mo’s house. Before she left, Gu Ying called out to her again. “Qing Zhan, there’s still no movement from Rebirth Entertainment.”
Wen Qing Zhan understood the meaning behind Gu Ying’s words. She raised an eyebrow and smiled. “I’ll tell you the news when I get back.” It was normal to have someone in a rival company. If the president hadn’t been so unmotivated and just muddled through life, Shengjin wouldn’t be in its current state.
Now that they had Gu Ying, along with her resources and connections, Shengjin would definitely grow from a third-rate company to a first-rate one.
Seeing the harmonious connection between Gu Ying and Wen Qing Zhan, Chu Yanqing felt that she needed to do something.
After Wen Qing Zhan left, Chu Yanqing smiled brightly. She pretended to be gentle and gentlemanly. “A Ying, do you want to go out for steak for lunch?” She would take Gu Ying to her place, cook her a steak by hand, and pair it with some red wine…
A beautiful woman’s heart should be easy to win…
If Gu Ying agreed, that is.
Gu Ying calmly refused. “No, I’m used to eating rice.” President Chu’s method of pursuing people seemed a bit old-fashioned. Gu Ying subtly gave Chu Yanqing a look of contempt and continued to work on her unfinished tasks.
Rejected by Gu Ying, Chu Yanqing felt a little hurt. She glanced at the stack of documents that Ji Yan had just brought in on the coffee table and sighed. She picked one up and started reading it.
A three-page document that a normal person could finish in two minutes took President Chu a full ten minutes to read before she waved her hand and wrote “Approved,” followed by her signature in a stylish and flowing font.
She put the document aside and looked up at Gu Ying. In the few minutes that she had been watching her, Gu Ying, who was sometimes frowning and sometimes biting her lip, had been writing diligently with her head down. This piqued her curiosity. “A Ying, what are you so busy with?”
Was there so much work in the company? She only pretended to look at documents every day. Besides signing and approving things, there was really nothing that needed her to handle.
But looking at how busy Gu Ying was, she almost wondered if she was the president of Shengjin. She hadn’t assigned any tasks to Gu Ying at all!
Wait, did Gu Ying bring work from the headquarters to Shengjin to handle?
Chu Yanqing got up and walked toward Gu Ying, wanting to see what she was writing. But as she got closer, Gu Ying gave her a cold look, which scared her into stopping.
Thinking that she was the president, she had the right to ask about anything that happened during work hours! She walked around the desk and got close to Gu Ying. She lowered her head and said, “Manager Gu, can I take a look at what you’re writing?” She switched the title to “Manager Gu,” reminding Gu Ying that she was speaking as the president now.
Gu Ying hesitated for a moment before saying, “You can.” She handed the papers to Chu Yanqing.
Chu Yanqing took the papers from Gu Ying smugly. She glanced at the words on the paper nonchalantly and complimented, “A Ying, your handwriting is so beautiful and powerful…” When she saw the content of the paper, she gasped and quickly threw it back to Gu Ying.
