The CEO Omega I Picked Up Has Run Away - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Ji Shu managed to borrow a thousand yuan from Ji Hen after all.
Ji Hen had initially refused point-blank, but Ji Shu said only one thing: “Can you bear to watch her go hungry with me?”
The “her,” of course, referred to Li Mengwan.
Ji Hen was furious, but he handed over the money anyway. “If you dare take this to gamble, I’ll fight you to the death.”
Ji Shu promised, “I won’t.”
She didn’t even know the basics of Mahjong or poker. She didn’t smoke, didn’t drink, and didn’t play video games; her daily routine consisted of martial arts, reading, and cooking. People back home used to call her the “ideal woman of the new era.”
However, even the system found her move shameless: “The male lead not only lost his ‘wife’ to you, but even his hard-earned wages were borrowed away. Anyone would say he’s tragic.”
Ji Shu countered: “Then why don’t you give me an advance?”
Starting out penniless was fine for her alone, but she couldn’t mistreat Li Mengwan. Who knows? Maybe by being good to her now, she wouldn’t end up as miserable as Ji Hen later. Besides, it wasn’t like she wouldn’t pay him back. She had no other way to get cash quickly; even if she grew vegetables, they needed time to grow.
The system went silent. An advance was impossible; they had strict operating protocols.
Ji Shu moved quickly. She got a SIM card, topped it up with a hundred yuan, and then headed to a barbershop. She spent fifteen yuan to wash her greasy, overgrown hair and had it cut short.
The barber, seeing Ji Shu after the haircut, couldn’t help but give a thumbs up. “Handsome! This is the coolest cut I’ve done all year. You’re definitely going to have Omegas chasing you, miss.”
It was hard to tell if he was praising his skills or Ji Shu’s looks. However, looking in the mirror at the face that was now identical to her pre-transmigration self, Ji Shu was satisfied. Finally, she looked clean.
As for the clothes… well, a thousand yuan didn’t go far. She had to be frugal to make it through the month.
When Ji Shu walked back into the milk tea shop, the teenagers who had been whispering earlier were stunned into silence.
“Aaaah! So Alpha! I told you her beauty was just sealed away by that hair and those weird clothes. Look, just by washing it and giving it a trim, her looks jumped several levels. It’s like a different person!” “If only she changed those rags…” “Exactly! She’s even better looking than that rumored girlfriend of the Li family CEO in the capital. This face is unreal.” “I want to ask for her WeChat. It’s rare to see such a good-looking female Alpha in our small town.”
Even Li Mengwan narrowed her eyes slightly.
Ji Shu walked up to her. Li Mengwan snapped out of it and bloomed into a smile. “So, Sister is actually this beautiful.”
The usually composed Ji Shu broke instantly. With red ears, she whispered, “Let’s go shopping.”
This triggered two more squeals from the onlookers.
Ji Hen, on the other hand, glared at her. It was undeniable that his cousin had the looks to attract Omegas now, but she was using his money! They agreed it was for Little Wan! Liar! If I knew this would happen, I never should have borrowed that hen. No hen, no lost goddess, no lending money.
Just as Ji Hen was about to explode, Li Mengwan stood up and naturally took Ji Shu’s hand. “Is Sister going to buy something?”
Ji Shu answered honestly, “Buying shoes and clothes for you.”
Li Mengwan blinked in surprise and smiled joyfully. “Really? Sister isn’t lying to me, is she?” Where did she get the money to buy things for her?
Ji Shu: “I’m not.” She wouldn’t dare lie to this CEO; did she want to die even faster?
Ji Hen swallowed his rage. That’s more like it.
The three left the shop, ignoring the teenagers who were excitedly snapping photos of them.
In the end, Ji Shu bought Li Mengwan two sets of casual wear and two pairs of shoes. They weren’t high-end brands, but they cost nearly 900 yuan. After buying some food and drinks, the borrowed money was completely gone. Ji Shu, who had never lacked money before, realized for the first time how quickly it disappeared.
By the time they headed back, Li Mengwan had changed into a new outfit: a light blue hooded sweatshirt, white casual pants, and pure white basic sneakers. In a small town, you couldn’t find very fashionable clothes, but Li Mengwan made the simple outfit look youthful and high-class. Some people need clothes to look good; for Li Mengwan, it was the opposite.
The shop owner couldn’t stop praising her. “You have the figure of a superstar, miss.”
Li Mengwan smiled and asked Ji Shu, “What about you, Sister?” She knew Ji Shu had no money and had said one pair of shoes was enough, but she didn’t expect the woman to buy so much for her.
So… honest. Honest Alphas were always likable.
Ji Shu avoided her gaze and took the bag of old clothes. “I don’t need anything. This set still works.” Seeing Li Mengwan looking so bright and youthful, the “Sister” address finally started sounding natural to Ji Shu’s ears.
Watching her wear the clothes she bought gave Ji Shu a strange feeling. Truth be told, this was her first time buying clothes for someone. In the past, she mostly wore training uniforms bought by her senior disciples. In just two days, she had broken many of her own rules for Li Mengwan.
Whatever, she thought. Even if the future Li Mengwan is terrifying, she’s a sweet girl now.
The trip back was a different story. Since they had some money now, Ji Hen paid for them to take a local van. In rural areas, traffic laws were lax. The seven-seater van was packed with over a dozen people by the driver.
Ji Shu, who valued safety and rules, hated it, but they were already squeezed into the back. It was either this or a two-hour walk carrying bags. Li Mengwan’s stamina was low; her injuries were fresh, and she had reached her limit after the morning walk.
But the smell in the van was awful. Ji Shu thought that was the worst part until the van hit the rugged mountain roads. It swerved left and right, making everyone nauseous. A middle-aged woman next to her kept pushing against her, which made Ji Shu extremely uncomfortable.
The woman chirped, “Little girl, you’re so handsome. You’re an Alpha, right? Visiting our Ji village? Do you have an Omega?” She didn’t recognize her as the village’s famous “lazy woman.”
Ji Shu turned pale from the jostling. She peeked at Li Mengwan by the window and hesitated. “I have an Omega.”
Li Mengwan’s ears perked up. She turned around, leaned toward Ji Shu, and whispered, “Sister, it’s a bit crowded. Can you hold me?”
Ji Shu: “…”
To hold or not to hold? No one could refuse a “sweet girl,” but this sweet girl might turn into a tiger later. If she held her, would she lose more than just one leg?
The middle-aged woman’s face soured. “Oh, you have one? This is her? Then why aren’t you holding her? Can’t you see how crowded it is? How rude.”
Others joined in the moral kidnapping. “Exactly! We all paid. Since you’re a couple, make some space. There are elders and kids standing, can’t you see?”
Ji Shu frowned, but before she could speak, Li Mengwan suddenly stood up and sat directly on her lap.
“There, it’ll be over soon. Sister, cheer up,” Li Mengwan said, using her finger to smooth out Ji Shu’s furrowed brow.
Ji Shu almost pushed her off in shock. Even her nausea was suppressed by the sudden contact. Her mind went blank; she couldn’t hear anything except the fact that Li Mengwan was sitting on her.
Suddenly, the van took a sharp turn. Ji Shu’s hand accidentally brushed against something soft—the same sensation from the morning. Her face turned beet red as she stiffly withdrew her hand. But another sharp turn caused her hand to instinctively snap back to steady her. She felt like she was being cooked alive.
Li Mengwan, however, looked relatively calm, though a close look would reveal her ears were also red.
When the van finally stopped, Ji Shu practically shoved Li Mengwan off. “I-I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to!” She stammered nervously.
Seeing her like this, Li Mengwan’s slight embarrassment vanished, replaced by a smile. “It’s okay. I know. I believe you, Sister.”
I must work hard to buy a car, Ji Shu thought desperately. I am never riding that van again.
Ji Hen, sitting in the front, hadn’t seen the specifics, only that Ji Shu had been holding Li Mengwan the whole way. As they got off, he barked, “You haven’t even had an engagement ceremony yet, and you’re already being so hands-on? You two must get engaged this month, or pay me back!”
“Why are you silent? You want to take advantage and not take responsibility?”
Ji Shu had a massive headache. Ever since Li Mengwan said she liked her, the plot was like a runaway horse, bolting further and further away. And she had no idea how to rein it in.
