The CEO Omega I Picked Up Has Run Away - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Fake crying. It had to be fake crying. There wasn’t a single tear she was definitely doing it just to bewilder her.
This female lead didn’t “like” her; she clearly wanted her legs and her eyes. Ji Shu’s mind was screaming for help.
Yet, when Li Mengwan asked if she was willing to be with her, Ji Shu somehow nodded as if possessed. The ABO world was truly anti-human; it must have been the pheromones controlling her brain, making her mind so muddled that she fell right into Li Mengwan’s trap.
Ji Shu couldn’t understand what Li Mengwan saw in her. She had been deliberately avoiding her this whole time.
“Excuses. You’re just lusting after her beauty,” the System said with immense disdain. “A beauty like this can’t be wasted on your cousin, so she might as well go to you, right?”
The System’s words were unpleasant, so Ji Shu ignored them. She didn’t have the energy to argue. Her entire attention was focused on Li Mengwan, who was leaning into her embrace.
Only when Li Mengwan pulled back did Ji Shu’s stiff body relax slightly. She turned around, only to meet the furious and resentful gaze of Ji Hen.
Ji Shu: “…”
It wasn’t her fault. It was Li Mengwan’s choice. She never intended to steal her cousin’s “wife.” And she really didn’t want the “Broken Leg and Blindness” combo meal!
Ji Hen clenched his fists as if he were about to throw a punch. Ji Shu felt like two different people: her mind feared Li Mengwan, but in this moment, her body instinctively shielded her. “Let’s talk this out. If you have a problem, aim it at me.”
She looked quite responsible. Ignoring her tattered clothes, she was exactly the kind of Alpha most Omegas dreamed of.
Li Mengwan was quite satisfied. She wrapped her arms around Ji Shu’s waist and rested her head gently against her back. In this entirely strange environment, she found a sense of security from this Alpha that she hadn’t felt before. She really liked the Alpha’s pure rose scent.
Li Mengwan felt she was someone who loved roses, and that she was assertive by nature, even if she had to speak softly now for survival. The Alpha is afraid of me, huh? Good. Life is easier with someone like that. Ji Hen was decent, but his behavior was a bit too crude; she didn’t quite like it.
Ji Shu’s body went rigid again, her previous momentum vanishing instantly. This successfully made Li Mengwan smile a small curl of the lips that neither of the two in front of her noticed.
Ji Hen looked at Li Mengwan, his anger turning into heartbreak. After a long silence, he loosened his fists. “Starting today, you must take good care of Little Wan. If you don’t, I’m not finished with you!”
“Also, you’re not allowed to gamble or fool around. Go to town tomorrow and find a job. Don’t you dare go back to your old ways!” He ended with a shout, but Ji Hen had essentially accepted the fact that his crush liked his cousin. Once accepted, he naturally wanted the woman he liked to have a better life.
Ji Shu blinked, then nodded. “I will work hard at farming.”
There was no way around it; it seemed she was stuck with Li Mengwan. Since such an elegant person had come into her life, she would find a way to take care of her. She only hoped that once Li Mengwan regained her memories, she would show some mercy.
The leisurely life of my dreams feels further and further away, Ji Shu thought blankly, though she didn’t feel entirely terrible about it.
“Farming?” Ji Hen’s voice went up an octave. “How much land do you even have? You think you can support Little Wan with farming?”
Ji Shu’s expression didn’t change. “That’s my business.” Not to mention that as the CEO of this book, Li Mengwan didn’t actually need her support—even if she did, Ji Shu could afford it. Moreover, she didn’t just want to farm alone; she planned to drag Ji Hen into it too.
Having had her fill of the soothing rose scent, Li Mengwan looked up at Ji Hen and said softly, “Brother Ji, I believe in Sister.”
In truth, Li Mengwan suspected she was nearly thirty; her Omega body’s reactions told her so. Calling Ji Hen “Brother Ji” was his request. Calling Ji Shu “Sister” was because she found the Alpha’s reactions amusing. She didn’t know why she thought this, but her subconscious told her that at around thirty, one strongly needed an Alpha.
Picking the tallest among the short, that was why she chose Ji Shu. As for what to do when her memories returned? That was a problem for later. For now, living comfortably was the priority. If she didn’t have such a strong aversion to the police, she’d suspect she was a merchant—merchants seek profit, after all, and she only did what benefited her. Maybe a shady businesswoman?
Thinking too much made her head ache. After a moment, she leaned against Ji Shu’s back again, inhaling the rose fragrance that calmed her nerves. Being together is better. This way, she won’t avoid me like she did yesterday. Even if the Alpha’s body seemed terrified of her.
The two were so in sync that Ji Hen felt like the villain. He stopped meddling and barked at Ji Shu, “Are we going to town or not?” In his grief, he stopped calling her “Sis.”
Ji Shu, feeling very innocent: “…” Fine, he’s heartbroken. I understand.
By the time the drama ended, it was 9:00 AM. It took two hours to walk to town. If they didn’t leave now, the market would be over. Ji Hen was mostly worried about missing his employer and not getting his wages. He might have lost his goddess, but he couldn’t afford to starve.
During the walk, Ji Hen marched ahead by himself, silent and fast. He didn’t want to see his goddess stuck to his cousin. In reality, Ji Shu and Li Mengwan walked separately, not even holding hands, both silent. Or rather, Ji Shu didn’t know how to face her new, “potentially terrifying” girlfriend.
After thirty minutes, Li Mengwan began to slow down. Eventually, she stopped and called out, “Sister.”
Ji Shu turned.
“I can’t walk anymore. My feet hurt,” Li Mengwan pouted.
Ji Shu looked down at Li Mengwan’s feet, which were rubbed red by the ill-fitting flip-flops. She walked over and crouched in front of her. “Shall I… carry you?” She phrased it as a question. She wasn’t a “steel-straight” girl with zero EQ, but she was afraid of misinterpreting the situation.
Li Mengwan was genuinely uncomfortable. The skin on her feet was almost raw, and the mountain paths were brutal. She wasn’t one to suffer needlessly, so regardless of the question mark, she climbed onto Ji Shu’s back. “Thank you, Sister.” Her breath tickled Ji Shu’s ear.
Ji Shu: !!!
The moment she felt that soft warmth against her back, Ji Shu’s brain buzzed. It felt like some defensive line had been breached by Li Mengwan. She had never been this close to anyone.
“Let’s get one thing straight: you can’t hit me in the future,” Ji Shu said, still fearful of the “memory recovery” fallout.
Li Mengwan laughed. “Sister is so good to me, why would I hit you?” Did this little Alpha forget? I’m just a weak Omega; I couldn’t beat her if I tried. Besides, why would I hit such an obedient and useful Alpha? She found Ji Shu strangely cute.
Ji Shu carried her for over an hour, sweating profusely, but she never suggested putting her down until they reached town. Li Mengwan insisted on walking then. Once down, she wiped the sweat from Ji Shu’s brow with her sleeve, looking tender and slightly guilty. “I’m too heavy. I made Sister so tired.”
When a cold “CEO-type” face looks at you with such gentleness, no one can resist. Ji Shu shuddered, took Li Mengwan’s hand away, and wiped the sweat herself. She forced a smile. “Not tired. It just means I need to exercise more. It’s only right.”
Ji Shu was telling the truth she did need to train this body. But Li Mengwan’s eyes crinkled with a smile. Seen this way, she didn’t look like a cruel person at all. Ji Shu felt a bit dazed, her ears turning red involuntarily. It’s too hot. The sun must be making me dizzy, she thought.
The town was crowded. In the sea of people, Li Mengwan took Ji Shu’s arm. Ji Shu let her, worried the amnesiac would be swept away or run into bad people. Occasionally, she’d shield her from the jostling crowd.
Ji Hen, looking back for the first time after the long walk, saw his cousin holding the Omega’s hand and felt another surge of grief and indignation. I knew it! She hasn’t changed at all; she just likes taking advantage of Omegas! Little Wan is so beautiful, but her taste in women is terrible!
Ji Hen stomped over and pointed to a milk tea shop on the left. “Wait for me there. I’m going to get my wages and I’ll find you. I’ll pay for the tea.” Even in his anger, he couldn’t bear to let his beloved woman suffer. He had planned to buy her new clothes and a big meal today, but now he felt he had no right.
“Okay,” Ji Shu replied and led Li Mengwan into the shop, ordering two reasonably priced lemonades.
Sitting in the corner, Li Mengwan watched Ji Shu interact naturally with the clerk and skillfully insert the straw before handing the drink to her. A hint of surprise flickered in her eyes. Ji Shu’s mannerisms were vastly different from Ji Hen’s, despite them being from the same place. Ji Hen wouldn’t notice such small details.
“What is it?” Ji Shu asked, feeling a bit creeped out by the constant staring.
Li Mengwan took a sip. “This lemon tea Sister ordered is delicious. I don’t think I’ve ever had it.” She genuinely felt like she hadn’t.
Cough. Ji Shu cleared her throat, covering her mouth with her fist. “If you like it, I’ll bring you often.” CEOs usually drink coffee or fine tea; it makes sense she hasn’t had cheap lemonade.
Under Li Mengwan’s bright, star-filled gaze, Ji Shu’s face heated up again. Ever since being “stuck” with this spring fragrance, she felt uneasy everywhere. Sitting across from Li Mengwan felt like sitting on a bed of needles.
At a nearby table, some teenagers were whispering. “Look, those two are so pretty. Like celebrities, but their clothes are weird.” “Maybe they’re filming a show? I bet they’re cosplaying as beggars.” “They look like they’re on a date. Who’d cosplay as beggars for a dating show? And why come to our town?” “Maybe it’s a personal hobby? They look so sweet together.”
Ji Shu, with her sharp hearing, found this a form of torture. She was a bit of a homebody with social anxiety; she didn’t like noise or being the center of attention.
Luckily, Ji Hen appeared, saving her. He had successfully collected two months’ wages over 4,000 yuan. To someone living in poverty, this was a fortune. He hadn’t opened a bank account yet, so the cash bulged in his pocket. He paid for their drinks and ordered a pearl milk tea for himself. It was too sweet for him, but he gulped it down like a “cow chewing a peony” so as not to waste money.
He sat next to Ji Shu. “Sis, aren’t you getting a SIM card? Go on, it’s right across the street. I’ll wait here with Little Wan.” Having money improved his mood. He had decided that if the person he liked didn’t like him back, there was no point moping. Better to make money and buy what he wanted.
Ji Shu pulled Ji Hen up. “You come with me.” Then to Li Mengwan: “Wait here for us, okay?” Her voice softened automatically. Li Mengwan nodded.
Ji Hen glared at her. I can’t even look at her now?
Ji Shu pulled him to a quiet corner. “I want to borrow a thousand yuan. I’ll pay you back next month.” A SIM card didn’t cost money, but the plan did. She hadn’t planned on borrowing so much, but now that Li Mengwan was with her, she couldn’t let her suffer. If Li Mengwan remembered this later, wouldn’t her fate be even worse?
Ji Hen clutched his pocket. “No.”
