Li Qingran was originally an NPC in a Chinese dating sim. His main job was to rotate through various plots as a “mood-setter” or a tool for the players’ “play” sessions with the main leads.
Perhaps because his acting was too professional, after awakening self-awareness and before he could even figure out how to gain his freedom, he was scouted by a Quick Transmigration System. His new mission: travel to small worlds to play insignificant, disposable “cannon fodder” characters.
The System chose him to boost its task success rate, thinking: Cannon fodder have few scenes, light tasks, and are easy to complete. He can even clock out of work early!
However, reality turned out to be a different story.
World 1: The ABO World
Role: A greedy and lecherous cannon fodder × A yandere “Bottom” Lead with a love-brain × An arrogant and naive Second Male Lead × A cold and “gloomy” Alpha “Top” Lead × A paranoid, overbearing Villain (All leads are loyal dogs).
The Scene: Inside a damp, dark room, the “Scum Top” cannon fodder who was supposed to finish his shift after cheating on and hurting the Main Bottom (to make way for the Main Top’s rescue plot)—stared at the silver chains on his wrists. Outside, the arguments never stopped.
The Main Bottom: “He is my boyfriend! He can only ever be mine!”
The Second Male Lead: “We grew up together and share everything. Isn’t it normal to share a boyfriend now?”
The Villain: “You Omegas get out of the way. AO (Alpha/Omega) is out of style; AA (Alpha/Alpha) is the true way!”
The Main Top (clutching the room key): “I’m also an Alpha.”
World 2: The Entertainment Circle
Role: A small assistant who was supposed to be exposed as a “sasaeng” (obsessive fan) and anti-fan, then exit the world after being despised by the public.
The Scene: In a crowded variety show backstage storage room, Li Qingran looked at the hands wrapped around his waist and his tightly gripped wrists. He didn’t understand how things ended up like this.
Initially: “I know he’s my anti-fan. It’s fine; life is boring, it’s harmless to have some fun.” / “Just a sasaeng; nothing he does will move me.”
Later: “He loves me, of course! Otherwise, why would he only hate-post about me and not you? He even became my assistant just for me!” / “Since you’re my sasaeng, shouldn’t you own my private belongings?”
World 3: The Wealthy Stand-in World
The System spent its points to arrange the most inconspicuous role: a sickly stand-in. He just had to quietly play the part and wait for the CEO to realize his “True Love” was someone else, get kicked out, and finish the mission.
The Result: The System watched as the CEO hung around Li Qingran more and more frequently. It looked at the “Official True Love” hiding in the bathroom because the CEO came home early, then thought of the White Moonlight Villain upstairs, who had tied himself up in ribbons like a gift inside Li Qingran’s wardrobe. The System crashed immediately.
One-Sentence Summary: “Struggling with all my might just to live the life of a ‘salted fish’!”
Theme: “Only through hard work can you eventually obtain everything you desire.”
