- Chapter 2 - Cannon Fodder Ex-Boyfriend (2), Let Me Have a Bite
Watching the hand inside his clothes becoming increasingly bold, Li Qingran finally grabbed the wandering hand before the fingertips could venture any further down.
“Su Jingyi.”
He gave a light sigh. With that exhale, a name that shouldn’t have been mentioned at this moment slipped through his lips. It carried a hint of exhaustion and a touch of “I knew it” resignation; it was the same way he sounded every time he called the other by his full name. The words followed naturally:
“Stop messing around.”
“I’m not messing around.”
The voice behind him remained cheerful. The hand Li Qingran held was as persistent as ever. Even with the back of the hand firmly pinned, those free fingertips continued to tease the soft skin below with unyielding determination.
It wasn’t until Li Qingran forcefully yanked the hand out of his clothes that it finally curled in the air with a sense of regret.
Li Qingran turned to look at the Omega behind him. The latter looked back with a beaming smile, acting as if nothing had happened, as if they were the two people who had originally agreed to meet here tonight.
Li Qingran spoke first to shatter the facade. “Didn’t you say you had a very important gathering tonight?”
He was a hair’s breadth away from stating outright that the person he was supposed to meet tonight wasn’t this Omega. However, Su Jingyi acted as if he couldn’t understand the subtext, his smile remaining brilliant.
“That’s right, it’s my grandfather’s 70th birthday. I snuck out. I have to hurry back in a bit, so”
Su Jingyi smoothly reversed the grip on Li Qingran’s hand. His slender fingers slid one by one into the warm gaps, interlocking their hands. Then, with a forceful tug, he pulled the Alpha in front of him into the room.
With a sharp click, the door closed. The masked Alpha was pressed against the cold door panel by the Omega.
The mask strap behind his ear was gently hooked away by a cold finger. In the next second, a lemon-scented kiss landed on Li Qingran’s lips.
“Let’s stop wasting time, Gege.”
Su Jingyi pressed closer to Li Qingran and said, “Didn’t we agree to a hookup? It just so happens we’ve never gone all the way before. Since you’re so interested today, there is no time like the present. Let’s just”
“Where is Jiang Han?” Li Qingran turned his face away, bluntly interrupting Su Jingyi’s increasingly excited plan.
“Who?”
Su Jingyi froze for a moment at the unfamiliar name, then quickly reacted.
“Ah, you mean that Omega who asked for your Feixin?”
Li Qingran heard Su Jingyi let out a chuckle. “If nothing goes wrong, he should be in class right now at some art academy on the other side of the globe.”
Li Qingran lowered his eyes in silence. In the dark environment, he saw Su Jingyi blink innocently at him.
“How come? I didn’t bully him this time. I even helped him sort out his study abroad visa and funding. I did a good deed. You can’t be angry, okay?”
Li Qingran: “”
He wasn’t angry; he was just wondering if he could still “clock out” on time now that the plot had deviated so drastically.
The Omega before him didn’t notice his concerns. Or rather, he couldn’t care about anything else right now, his mind entirely focused on continuing his predatory plan.
“Alright, alright, let’s not discuss irrelevant people. Business first!”
Su Jingyi tilted his head up, intending to kiss Li Qingran, but in the next second, a cold sensation touched his chin.
“Su Jingyi.”
Li Qingran pinched the Omega’s chin, attempting to continue his performance in this scene where the supporting actor had been forced to be absent.
“I cheated,” he continued.
“I quite like him. From our chats, our values seem very compatible, so”
Li Qingran didn’t say the rest. Those were Su Jingyi’s lines; there was no point in him saying them. Besides, those few sentences were already lethal enough.
The moment Li Qingran said he liked someone else, the temperature in the room seemed to drop instantly.
The arm around Li Qingran’s waist tightened abruptly, and Su Jingyi’s body stiffened. He stared fixedly at the Alpha, his entire aura resembling a deep pond covered in a thin layer of ice. The moment that ice shattered, the danger beneath would be triggered.
The black progress bar on the task panel seemed to flicker. The lemon pheromones surrounding Li Qingran turned much colder.
However, just as Li Qingran thought his cannon fodder mission might still have a chance if he pushed through, the Omega in front of him suddenly burst out laughing.
“You cheated?”
Li Qingran nodded.
“You like him a lot?”
Li Qingran continued to nod.
“Through chatting, you felt your values were compatible? You chatted often?”
Li Qingran hesitated for two seconds but ultimately continued to nod.
“So that’s how it is,” Su Jingyi said softly.
Throughout the questioning, he maintained the posture of having his chin pinched by Li Qingran, and with each of Li Qingran’s nods, he tightened his arms bit by bit. He stared intensely into the Alpha’s eyes, while also staring at his own reflection, whose smile was growing wider.
Then, looking at his own image in Li Qingran’s pupils, he spoke slowly:
“But, Gege, the person chatting with you has always been me.”
Li Qingran was stunned for a moment.
Su Jingyi’s smile became even more cheerful.
One should know that from the moment Li Qingran accepted the Omega’s friend request, the soul beneath that sweet strawberry skin had already been replaced by his tart lemon.
As if afraid Li Qingran wouldn’t believe him, or perhaps simply wanting to show off his achievement to the Alpha, Su Jingyi pulled his phone from his pocket before his voice even faded. The moment his thumb pressed the fingerprint scanner, the screen lit up, revealing the chat interface hidden beneath the lock screen.
September 27, 3035, 11:25 AM Su-Su: 【Hey there, handsome.】 Li: 【Hookup?】
September 27, 3035, 11:04 PM Su-Su: 【Yes.】
Further down was the hotel address sent by Su-Su. Four simple, clear sentences; that was the entirety of the chat box and the full extent of the agreement between Li Qingran and “Strawberry.”
Seeing the expression on Li Qingran’s face freeze, Su Jingyi waved the phone at him, his smile incredibly sweet.
“You liked him after just four sentences? Then based on our daily chats, you must love me to death, Gege.”
“I”
“No need to explain, Gege.”
Su Jingyi interrupted him, then reached up to grab the Alpha’s wrist, tilting his chin slightly to break free from the grip. Then, just as Li Qingran thought he was going to leave, Su Jingyi stepped even closer. He lowered his head slightly and took the Alpha’s jade-like fingertip into his mouth.
“I won’t be angry with you over something like this.”
He said, “So, let’s hurry up and move on to the next thing, shall we?”
He really did have to rush back to the banquet later.
Sharp canines left a shallow indent on the soft fingertip. Su Jingyi gave a satisfied lick, then immediately looked up, pressing his lips against the Alpha’s.
First, several light pecks, then his tongue slipped out. Like a puppy seeking comfort from its master, he swallowed the pheromones the Alpha was unconsciously releasing.
Cold, woody-scented pheromones filled the Omega’s mouth, instantly pulling Su Jingyi into a pine forest covered in thick snow. It was quiet and cold, a place where one could easily get lost in the white world.
But he wasn’t afraid at all. Instead, he became even more excited.
Su Jingyi’s body began to tremble slightly, an unconscious humming sound coming from his nose. The kissing grew more forceful, shifting from gentle rubbing to a biting gnaw.
Li Qingran felt like his lips were about to be bitten off and reached out to push him away.
Su Jingyi didn’t persist with the kiss. He followed Li Qingran’s strength to move slightly further away, ensuring the Alpha could see the expression on his face, and then acted spoiled:
“Gege, can you let me bite your gland? Just once.”
An Alpha’s gland is different from an Omega’s; it can only be used to release pheromones and cannot be marked by an Omega. This was something taught in middle school biology.
But Su Jingyi seemed determined to defy logic, persistently wanting to give Li Qingran a temporary mark. It was as if this was the only way to place a label on the other that belonged entirely to him.
In the past, whenever Su Jingyi brought this up, Li Qingran would refuse decisively.
Today, however, whether it was because the blow from the failed mission was too great or for some other reason, Li Qingran didn’t refuse immediately. Instead, looking at the obsessed and expectant gaze in Su Jingyi’s eyes, he pressed his thumb against Su Jingyi’s swollen lower lip. With a slight force, he pushed his fingertip into the slightly parted gap.
Li Qingran held Su Jingyi’s chin, his fingertip pressing accurately against the sharp canine tooth. There wasn’t a trace of expression on his beautiful face, and his eyes were so calm that no ripple could be detected.
“An Omega cannot mark an Alpha,” he said.
“Then you mark me,” Su Jingyi said smoothly. His shift in thought was so fast it made one wonder if this had been his plan all along.
Li Qingran didn’t want to dig into what Su Jingyi’s original plan was. He just lowered his eyes and seriously kneaded the Omega’s lips, as if this was his mission for the night.
It seemed like a long time had passed, yet it also felt like just a moment. Li Qingran finally withdrew his hand and leaned back against the door, blinking his eyes as if he had just processed everything.
“I mark you?”
He looked at Su Jingyi. His beautiful peach-blossom eyes were still bright and moving even in the dark.
“Come to think of it, in the year we’ve been dating, I’ve never marked you.”
Regarding this point, it wasn’t that Li Qingran was traditional, but rather a mission requirement; every important “first” for the Protagonist Shou must belong to the Protagonist Gong.
Strictly speaking, their previous kisses were already a violation of the rules by Li Qingran.
But no relationship could stay purely Platonic for a year, so the System had turned a blind eye to certain overly intimate actions.
However, a temporary mark was a no-go, let alone a deeper, more intimate mark that required total vulnerability.
Previously, Li Qingran had no thoughts on this matter.
But today…
Feeling the increasingly dense lemon pheromones and seeing the expectant and excited look in Su Jingyi’s eyes, Li Qingran reached out and pressed down on a raised patch of skin on the back of the Omega’s neck.
Almost the instant he touched that area, Su Jingyi grabbed his arm tightly, his breathing becoming increasingly hurried.
“Gege,” Su Jingyi leaned further into Li Qingran’s embrace, as if only this could alleviate the tingling itch in his body brought on by the Alpha touching his gland.
Li Qingran didn’t respond. Instead, he very seriously and carefully felt the texture under his fingertips.
Soft, bouncy, hot, and moist.
It was like a fully ripened lemon; with every squeeze from the Alpha, it was forced to extrude tart, transparent juice.
This was a tangible feeling transmitted to his mind through his fingertips, not text or plot pre-set by a program.
So…
Li Qingran lowered his eyelashes. Looking at the Omega, whose excitement had made the corners of his eyes turn slightly red, he took the finger he had just withdrawn from Su Jingyi’s gland and slowly placed it into his own mouth under Su Jingyi’s watchful gaze.
A rich sourness exploded in his mouth, making Li Qingran feel more awake while an impulse unconsciously rose within him.
“Want to try?” He finally reached out to hug the Omega back, then lowered his head, approaching the other’s neck.
In the air, a cold and domineering woody scent suddenly forced its way into the rich lemon pheromones. It was like a beast finally baring its fangs, easily tearing through the pheromone enclosure Su Jingyi had created.
Su Jingyi trembled even more violently. “Try what?”
Try and see if I, a cannon fodder, can actually mark you, the Protagonist Shou.
