The Cannon Fodder Roles I Play All Become White Moonlights [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 18.2
Fang Tinglan shivered uncontrollably when she saw the man’s back ahead of her. When she had been with Ling Qin, he had only treated her as a substitute for Yao Jia, always calling her “Jiajia” in bed. Later, when she became pregnant, she had thought he wouldn’t let her keep the child. To her surprise, not only did he allow her to give birth, but he also arranged her hospital room right next to Yao Jia’s.
At that time, Yao Jia was in critical condition and had to be rushed into emergency care after giving birth. Meanwhile, in the next room, Fang Tinglan (formerly Fang Ting) overheard nurses discussing a TV drama about a switched-at-birth plot involving a rich and a poor family. Seizing the opportunity, she swapped her own child with Yao Jia’s. Guilt-ridden, she avoided Ling Qin afterward, even changing her name from Fang Ting to Fang Tinglan and registering Fang Mo under someone else’s household registration. As Fang Mo grew to resemble Yao Jia more and more, fear drove Fang Tinglan to move into a slum area, believing someone like Ling Qin would never set foot there.
“Fang Ting, you’ve disappointed me,” Ling Qin said without turning around, his tone alone enough to terrify Fang Tinglan.
Feeling everything was over and her secret exposed, she crawled to his feet, clutching his trousers, sobbing, “L-Ling, no matter what, Yuanbai is your son. Please spare him!”
Ling Qin slowly crouched down, lifting her chin with his finger. Her nose and mouth bore a striking resemblance to Yao Jia’s, but her fox-like eyes set her apart. “How can a woman as foolish and wicked as you still have a shred of compassion? That child, raised by you, has turned out surprisingly well.”
Fang Tinglan didn’t understand his words.
But Su Qingmeng did. Unfortunately, the next moment, a strong push sent her stumbling out from behind a pillar. A tall man restrained her, reporting, “Boss, this woman was hiding here. Not sure what she’s up to.”
Ling Qin stood up, narrowing his eyes at Su Qingmeng. “I thought Miss Su went to find my wife. What brings you here?”
His smile was gentle, like a kind elder.
Su Qingmeng showed no embarrassment or fear. Smiling brightly, she said, “I followed Aunt Fang here. I just didn’t expect to witness something so explosive.”
“Miss Su, what did you hear?” Ling Qin’s smile grew even warmer, reminiscent of Ling Yuanbai when she first met him.
Su Qingmeng chuckled softly, as if speaking to no one in particular. “The way you’re acting now reminds me of when I first met Senior Ling. Though, Senior Ling is much more endearing than you.”
Ling Qin smiled indifferently.
But her next words made his expression shift slightly. “Aunt Fang, didn’t you catch his meaning? He’s known all along that you switched the children. He intended for you to torment A Mo to death, but he never expected A Mo to grow up so capable.”
Fang Tinglan froze, mouth agape but silent, her eyes lifting to the tall man.
Ling Qin half-squinted. “Miss Su, you seem a bit too clever. Could it be that you’ve been toying with both my foolish son and Fang Mo?”
Su Qingmeng remained unfazed, recklessly adding, “You used Aunt Fang as a surrogate to bear your child, then swapped Aunt Yao’s baby. You also tampered with A Mo’s father’s car accident, drove Aunt Yao into depression, and threatened her with Yuanbai’s life. You’re truly shameless.”
Ling Qin’s smile vanished completely. “Did Jiajia just tell you all this?”
He was certain Yao Jia couldn’t escape his grasp, but Su Qingmeng’s act of removing the listening device from Yao Jia had already angered him. Now that she knew so much, he would never let her leave this place alive.
Su Qingmeng took the initiative to step forward, tilting her head slightly and maintaining her character as she said, “Mr. Ling, would you like to make a deal with me? Just give me a sum of money, and I’ll leave immediately, as if I never heard or saw anything.”
Ling Qin burst into laughter as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world. He glared at Su Qingmeng with a sinister expression. “I just praised Miss Su for being clever, but now you’re acting as foolish as Fang Ting? Do you really think you can still leave this place?”
Su Qingmeng met his gaze for a moment before lowering her eyes to conceal the glint in them. “Mr. Ling, I must remind you that what you’re doing is illegal.”
“Illegal things are nothing new to me,” Ling Qin shrugged indifferently. His biggest regret was not killing Fang Mo directly in the hospital back then but instead setting a trap for Fang Tinglan. He had thought he could use Fang Tinglan’s hands to torture Fang Mo to death. Back then, he had chosen Fang Tinglan not only for her looks but also for her foolishness and wickedness. He never expected that this foolish woman would actually raise Fang Mo.
Ling Yuanbai was just as stupid as his mother, completely outmatched by Fang Mo.
“What about Aunt Fang?” Su Qingmeng took another step forward, closing the distance between them. “Aunt Fang is, after all, Yuanbai’s biological mother, and he already knows the truth. Aren’t you afraid that if something happens to her, he’ll never forgive you once he learns the whole story?”
“Yuanbai was only ever meant to keep Jiajia by my side. Who knew he’d turn out so stupid? Someone that foolish doesn’t deserve to inherit the Ling Group in the future,” Ling Qin spoke with utter coldness.
Su Qingmeng suddenly understood. “You want to frame Ling.”
Ling Qin narrowed his eyes slightly, unable to tell whether Su Qingmeng was foolish or clever. “I’m just giving him one last chance. If he can outmaneuver Fang Mo, he’ll remain the heir to the Ling Group. If not, it’s not like he’s my only son.”
Su Qingmeng rarely showed a look of disgust. “If Aunt Yao finds out, she’ll definitely leave you.”
Ling Qin couldn’t stand anyone suggesting that Yao Jia might leave him. He grabbed Su Qingmeng by the throat, his eyes filled with madness. “What do you know? Jiajia’s body was damaged, and she can’t have any more children. Besides, all these children were just born through surrogacy. The only thing I’ve ever done to wrong Jiajia was getting involved with Fang Ting, and now I’m going to end this mistake.”
[Host, please complete the plot: Su Qingmeng hurriedly takes out her phone to call Fang Mo, but after saying the word “Ling,” her phone is knocked to the ground.] The system’s cold voice echoed again.
Su Qingmeng inwardly complained. Whoever wrote this so-called novel world, even if she was just a cannon fodder character, she shouldn’t be stupid enough to take out her phone and make a call in front of so many people.
But she struggled to pull out her phone, quickly sent the recording she had just made to Fang Mo, and pressed “1” to dial the number,
This was something Fang Mo had set up for her.
“Qingmeng?” The young man’s voice on the other end of the line was as clear and cool as the first time she heard it, but beneath the deep tone lay a thick layer of affection, like the summer sea.
But Su Qingmeng had no time to appreciate the quality of that voice now. With great effort, she managed to utter the word “Ling” before Ling Qin knocked the phone out of her hand.
“Qingmeng? Where are you?” Fang Mo’s voice was cut off along with the shattering of the phone.
Ling Qin tightened his grip around Su Qingmeng’s neck, but to his surprise, she swiftly pulled a small knife from her pocket and stabbed him in a vital spot. Seizing the moment he recoiled in pain, she broke free.
Everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events, frozen in shock. It was the man who had discovered Su Qingmeng earlier who rushed forward to restrain her. Yet, with agile movements, she kicked him hard in the groin with her high heel, forcing him to double over in agony.
Su Qingmeng turned and fled, but her high heels, which had been her advantage, now became her downfall. The construction site, littered with steel bars and concrete, made escape impossible.
Amid the chaos, she thought she heard a phone ringing, she couldn’t tell whose it was. With her last ounce of strength, she delivered one final kick.
She grew up in an orphanage and learned to fight to protect herself. Later, she entered the entertainment industry and even worked as a stunt double for a while. If it were a one-on-one fight with Ling Qin, the outcome would be hard to predict. Unfortunately…
Ling Qin clutched his still-bleeding wound, gritting his teeth as he spat out, “Just kill her!”
When the steel rebar pierced through her chest, Su Qingmeng couldn’t help but curse the system, there was no pain suppression at all!
As her body temperature gradually faded, she felt a chilling cold and heard the system’s warning: 【Warning: The host must not attempt to alter the plot. The pain the host is currently experiencing is punishment for trying to change the storyline.】
Su Qingmeng endured the pain and said to the system, “Faced with death, people don’t give up struggling. I’m just acting realistically, the outcome of death hasn’t changed.”
System: 【…】
Perhaps persuaded by her words, the pain suddenly vanished. She opened her eyes and looked up at the sky, an ordinary spring evening, exactly as described in the plot for the death of a minor character.
She smiled.
Adjusting her final expression, Su Qingmeng whispered softly, “Ling Yuanbai, don’t tell Mother Superior about me. Also, tell A Mo and Yaoqing for me to live well and you too…”
【Current world plot completed. Transferring to the next world in 24 hours】
As Su Qingmeng closed her eyes, she heard the system’s cold voice.
The next moment, she returned to darkness, like the time she lay in a hospital bed, unable to move or speak, surrounded by endless darkness. Yet, it felt somewhat different.
Amid the silence, chaos suddenly erupted. She heard a sharp alarm: “Alert! Alert! Plot error in World A! Male lead died abnormally! Villain died abnormally! World A has collapsed!”
The restraints of the darkness seemed to weaken considerably. Su Qingmeng struggled with all her might to open her eyes. In that instant, she saw countless instruments attached to her body and heard a rhythmic mechanical beeping beside her ear.
Just as she tried to see more, she felt someone inject something into her arm and fell back into darkness.
When she woke again, someone pushed her from behind: “Qingmeng, it’s your turn to go on stage.”
Intense stage lights poured down. Su Qingmeng squinted slightly as she opened her eyes, then blinked again. On the simple stage, an older and a younger ballet dancer stared at her anxiously, while rows of soldiers sat neatly in the audience.
Yet, she had no memories and didn’t know what she was supposed to do next.
