The Bride of The Mysterious Ghost King - Chapter 7
What? A human skin? I was so scared I was about to refuse, but this guy had already walked to the back, replacing my position?
Whether it was human skin or paper, how the heck was it supposed to light up? Just holding it like this gave me the creeps.
Knowing I couldn’t refuse a ghost, forget it, since I ran into him, I’ve been at his mercy. Gritting my teeth, suppressing my anger, I turned my head, sulking, and walked at the very front.
I didn’t dare look back, I could only feel my scalp tingling as I listened to the corpse behind me take a step, then another, making a sound with each one. And that guy was constantly uttering strange sounds, like some sort of spell. I had never heard them before; they were eerie and piercing, sounding like some kind of soul-summoning incantation.
The sound he made seemed to float out from some corner of hell, distant, faint, and erratic. I shivered incessantly. By the time I staggered to a piece of wasteland, I was completely drenched in sweat.
The wild grass here was high, reaching my waist, swaying back and forth with the wind, casting eerie shadows under the illumination of the human skin lamp.
The wind howled past. My heart was tense, and the constant travel made me sweat a little. I truly didn’t know when this terrifying journey would end!
After about half an hour of walking, the man’s spell stopped. Suddenly, a coffin lay horizontally in front of me.
I glanced around and realized that this seemed to be a cemetery, terrifyingly desolate.
“Um, how about we go back?” I started to beg him, a little timidly.
But he gave me the cold shoulder, completely unwilling to yield.
“As soon as the seal is broken, I’ll let you go immediately!” he said heavily.
I had no choice but to continue walking forward. We stopped in front of the coffin. Suddenly, he started uttering those unintelligible spells again. A burst of strong wind blew past, and the coffin lid slowly, just like that, opened. A male corpse suddenly appeared right in front of me.
“Ah!” I yelled, instinctively stepping back, wanting to leave this ghostly place immediately! You scared the living daylights out of me!
But he grabbed my arm from behind, steadying my figure.
“What are you doing? I want to leave, there are ghosts here!” I wouldn’t stay here for a mountain of gold!
“Don’t be afraid, I’m here,” he consoled me gently, his bright eyes full of confidence.
Inside the coffin was a small green box that glowed. I wondered if this was what the male ghost was looking for.
I watched as he took out a key and aimed it at the box. After a moment, the unsealing key emitted a silver light toward the box. The box snapped open, revealing the other half of the unsealing key inside.
Quickly, the silver light turned blue and shot into the guy’s body. He closed his eyes, his thin lips tightly pressed, seemingly savoring the moment. I wondered what it felt like to have that light shoot into his body.
After everything was finished, we walked in silence.
I was the first to break the quiet. “What’s your name?”
“Chu Mo.”
I nodded. “Oh, where are you planning to go now?”
“To your house to propose marriage.” He dropped the phrase and strode off in the direction of my home.
“What? You seriously want to marry me?” I still couldn’t accept marrying a ghost, so I asked him anxiously.
He ignored me, instead wrapping his arm around my shoulder and directly knocking on my front door.
What’s going on? How does he know my house?
I can’t marry a male ghost. I don’t want to. My heart immediately tightened with anxiety. Despite my nervousness, the door opened.
