The Bride of The Mysterious Ghost King - Chapter 6
“I’m not going, I’m not going. I’m scared.” I said, about to open the door and flee, but he grabbed me with a fierce grip, pulling me right in front of him. His eyes were so icy, it seemed they could freeze me solid.
“You have the ‘Metal-Yang Fate’ (Jin Yang Ming Ge); wicked things dare not approach you. If your fate wasn’t of the Yang element, do you think you’d be able to stay here this long?”
I frowned, getting goosebumps all over. “What do you mean?”
“Don’t you know this morgue has been haunted? The source of the trouble is the No. 2 freezer right in front of you. The corpse inside has extreme resentment, and anyone who sees it dies. If I hadn’t neutralized its resentment earlier, do you think you could still be here so safely?”
He spoke with great conviction, and yet, I believed him. There was a ghost standing right in front of me, and coupled with my previous experiences, what more did I have not to believe?
I steadied myself, gritted my teeth, and said, “Fine, I’ll go with you. What time?”
“Now.” As he spoke, he spun his finger, and the male corpse in the No. 2 freezer whooshed out of the cabinet and stood up straight.
“Ah!” Before I could even gasp, this guy covered my mouth. He warned me calmly, “Don’t shout.”
I nodded frantically like a pounding pestle, and only then did he release me. I covered my mouth, afraid that this terrifying sight would make me wet myself.
I watched in horror as he draped a long overcoat over the male corpse. I anxiously asked him, “Why do we have to bring this corpse?”
“Beneath the No. 2 freezer is actually a thousand-year-old ancient tomb. This male corpse and the master of the tomb we are going to are father and son. By utilizing the half of the ‘unsealing key’ inside his body, I can retrieve the other half of the key from the box. Once the seal is broken, my spiritual power can be fully exerted.”
There’s actually an ancient tomb beneath this morgue? Then the No. 2 freezer must be right above the ancient coffin the corpse is resting in? No wonder… How could it be comfortable being pressed down from above?
“Then why don’t you just take out whatever key part is in his body now? Why bring a corpse?” I asked him irritably in a hushed voice.
He shook his head. “With my current spiritual power here, I can’t retrieve it. I must take him there; only when my spiritual power is enhanced there can I take it out.”
“…”
I was too shocked for words; tonight’s encounters had far exceeded the scope of my thoughts and understanding.
He turned and floated a sentence back to me, “Go out through the back door. Walk at the very back, don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Damn it! It’s because you’re here that I’m terrified! A walking dead man and a ghost—could anyone be in a more tragic situation than me right now?
That guy handed the corpse a stick that emitted a faint green glow. Soon, an astonishing scene unfolded: the corpse actually started walking on its own?
The male corpse’s knees wouldn’t bend, and its movements were extremely stiff with every step. Because the long coat covered it from head to toe, leaving only half of a stiff face exposed, it looked a bit odd. However, on such a pitch-black night, it wasn’t particularly eye-catching.
The duty officer at the back door was asleep, so we easily walked out.
I don’t know how long we walked. I just saw that guy occasionally shaking a handbell, producing a shrill, eerie sound.
My heart was heavy the whole way. I quickly walked to the very front and threw a sentence at him, “Alright, the area is getting less populated; we must be close now, right? I’m out.” As I said this, I turned to run, but he grabbed me.
“Where are you going? You can’t leave. Take this.” This guy conjured a lantern out of nowhere, like one made of paper. My hand trembled, and I almost instinctively dropped it, but he caught it and forcibly shoved it into my hand. “Hold onto this ‘Human-Skin Lantern.’ You walk in front and light the way. Keep walking straight ahead; I’ll tell you when we’ve arrived.”
