The Bride of The Mysterious Ghost King - Chapter 2
Time ticked by, second by second. Strange, why was there no sound above?
Filled with doubt, I tentatively looked up and saw the two cops—why weren’t they moving? It was as if a freezing spell had been cast! They clearly had breath, but it was as if time had stopped for them.
I was completely dumbfounded. What was going on?
The man suddenly jumped down and walked slowly towards me. “I solved your problem for you. How will you thank me?”
“You… if you’re robbing me, I c-can burn lots of paper money for you,” I stammered, shrinking into the corner.
The man raised his handsome eyebrow, a dark smile playing on his lips. “I don’t need money.”
“Then… then what do you want to rob?” Could it be me? His smile looked a little malicious.
“What do you think?” He took a step closer, but I was already miserably backed up against the wall.
I instinctively wrapped my arms around myself. “Y-you don’t come any closer! Look, I don’t have big boobs or a curvy butt, so you won’t get any satisfaction from robbing me. Please just be merciful and let me go.”
“Oh? Then I’d better properly ‘check the goods’,” the man said, and whether he used some kind of soul-shifting magic or not, he suddenly appeared in front of me. He braced his hands against the wall, trapping me between his two arms.
“W-w-what do you want to do?” I quickly put my hands up, pressing against his chest to keep my distance. “I-I-I… know martial arts, I can cast curses, and I can do black magic. Don’t, don’t mess around!”
“I’m not interested in your little tricks. I’m interested in your…” He didn’t finish his sentence, his gaze dropping downwards. I followed his line of sight and realized, ‘Holy crap! This guy is staring at my two little white bunnies?’
“Let me ‘check the goods,’ and I’ll take you out of here. How about it?” He lifted my chin, looking at me with interest.
My panic flared up. “I… can I understand this as you making a deal with me?”
“Did I touch you?” he countered, deliberately leaning closer to my face.
This guy intentionally flashed me a dangerously charming smile—a smile enough to mesmerize females from six to eighty years old.
The pleasant male scent wafted into my nose, and his broad chest pressed against mine, yet I couldn’t feel his heartbeat at all. However, the temperature of his hands was unusually cold, making me shiver.
“Could you do one thing?” I asked, holding up a thumb and giving a dry laugh.
He raised an eyebrow, looking down at me coolly. “What thing?”
“Please… move away from me,” I pointed behind him, signaling him to step back a couple of paces. “I’m scared…” I looked at him innocently and harmlessly, observing the changes on his face.
Sure enough, the guy’s face darkened. His deep-set eyes were sharp and piercing, making me nervous as he peered at me. “Don’t doubt that I can easily make sure you spend the rest of your life in jail. Don’t you want to leave this place?”
“Yes, of course I do! But… I won’t sell my soul,” I firmly stated my position, and, afraid he hadn’t absorbed my meaning, quickly added, “In short, anything is fine, but I won’t lose my purity…”
My voice got quieter towards the end, and I felt my cheeks flush. Compared to his composure, I was utterly mortified.
“Let’s get back to the point. I need you to do something for me.” The guy in front of me looked at me seriously.
“Are you human or ghost? You’re not trying to use my body to return to life, are you? Or doing something harmful? I won’t do it!” Although scared to death, I gathered my courage and put on a look of facing death without fear.
Unexpectedly, he smiled. “Help me break the seal.”
“Can’t you find someone else?” I pleaded with him.
He thought for a few seconds. “It has to be you. Because you are destined to be my wife.”
“…”
