The Blind Alpha Coveted by the Frail Beauty Omega - Chapter 15
She Held Her Tight
Upon hearing those words, Wei Jiangxue knit her brows slightly. “I thought about the consequences. In fact, I succeeded. I am a high-level Alpha, after all; you can’t look down on me just because I’m blind.”
She heard Mi Ruian take several deep breaths, likely trying to suppress the urge to lecture her.
Wei Jiangxue truly didn’t understand why Mi Ruian was angry. She was the one who had risked herself, and she was the one who had successfully rescued the person. It seemingly had nothing to do with Mi Ruian.
But the other woman was the protagonist, and the protagonist was always right. So, Wei Jiangxue curled her lips and didn’t continue to argue.
“…I’m sorry. I just felt it was too dangerous.” Mi Ruian actually regretted those emotionally charged words the moment they escaped her lips. After some thought, she offered an apology to Wei Jiangxue.
“It’s fine.” Wei Jiangxue didn’t take it to heart, brushing off the dispute as if dusting off a stray grain of sand.
The security team arrived a few minutes after Mi Ruian. Wei Jiangxue handed over the still-unstable Omega and the incapacitated Alpha to them.
She then departed, hiding her merit and fame.
Except…
Wei Jiangxue felt the warmth and restriction coming from her hand. When they left, Mi Ruian had taken her hand with an irresistible grip. Wei Jiangxue felt that the protagonist’s emotions were coming from a strange place.
After thinking it over, she reached a conclusion—Mi Ruian must have encountered a similar situation before, and the person playing the hero likely failed, causing Mi Ruian to suffer a trauma response.
A flash of inspiration struck Wei Jiangxue’s brain: I really am a genius… This way, Mi Ruian’s worry for me makes sense.
She just wondered who it was that had failed in front of Mi Ruian.
Wei Jiangxue let out a soft sigh, her heart filled with pity for Mi Ruian, and she allowed Mi Ruian to continue leading her by the hand.
“Since we’re already here, let’s go grab a bite after we finish at the clothing store,” she said in a light tone after coming to her conclusion.
Mi Ruian gave a low response, seemingly still brooding over what had happened.
Wei Jiangxue couldn’t stand seeing her companion with such a long face and intentionally tried to coax her. “Hey, cheer up. I’m willing to treat you, you know. Since we’re out to have fun, let’s not let small things ruin the mood.”
“…Okay,” Mi Ruian’s voice was slightly raspy.
Wei Jiangxue raised her free hand and reached out to touch Mi Ruian’s face. “Then I have to check if you’re smiling. You promised to stay happy, so smile more.”
“Stop it…” Mi Ruian finally laughed, dodging the “demon claws,” but she still didn’t let go of Wei Jiangxue’s hand.
System 233 watched them silently, deciding to simply give up.
Sigh, the atmosphere between these two is completely beyond the system’s expectations. But at this point, there’s really no way out; I’ll just have to take it one step at a time.
However, Wei Jiangxue had become so used to eating instant food alone in her rented room that she temporarily forgot the many inconveniences of dining out while blind.
She was stunned after ordering. With Mi Ruian right in front of her, she certainly couldn’t ask 233 to help adjust her position to pick up food. But Wei Jiangxue couldn’t eat normally on her own, leaving her in a dilemma.
Should she ask Mi Ruian for help now? Or stubbornly rely on herself?
In the former case, Wei Jiangxue couldn’t be sure if Mi Ruian would agree; in the latter, Wei Jiangxue felt the only result would be making a mess of the table, making it difficult to eat and causing trouble for the server who had to clean up.
Nothing is going right today… Wei Jiangxue hadn’t expected that just coming out for a side quest would lead to so much trouble.
Under the soft lights of the restaurant, soothing music flowed, yet it failed to smooth the slight furrow in Wei Jiangxue’s brow.
She sat across from Mi Ruian, her fingers unconsciously rubbing the edge of the table, looking somewhat stiff. Although she tried to act as she usually did, her hesitation and bitterness when facing a table full of dishes revealed the predicament she faced.
Even though the table was full of food, Wei Jiangxue couldn’t pick any of it up.
Mi Ruian set down her water glass. Her gaze swept over the almost untouched plate in front of Wei Jiangxue and the chopsticks in her hand that seemed lost, instantly understanding the source of the awkwardness.
“Not to your taste?” Mi Ruian’s voice was neutral.
Wei Jiangxue, like a startled small animal, immediately shook her head. “No, it’s delicious.”
To prove it, she urgently reached forward with her chopsticks, but only hit the edge of the cold porcelain plate, making a light clinking sound.
The air froze for a moment, and a blush crept up Wei Jiangxue’s cheeks at a visible speed.
Oh no, I’ve embarrassed myself again—
Mi Ruian was sitting there dining properly, while she was over here performing an act of eating air.
The facade of poise she had worked so hard to maintain was lightly punctured, and Wei Jiangxue immediately became flustered.
Her appearance of trying to stay calm while unable to hide her distress made Mi Ruian’s heart feel a strange, sharp prick.
Almost subconsciously, Mi Ruian picked up the serving chopsticks and naturally picked up a piece of tender fish, placing it in Wei Jiangxue’s bowl.
“The fish here is well-rated. Try it.”
Wei Jiangxue froze, her long lashes trembling as she whispered, “…Thank you.”
However, the problem wasn’t entirely solved. Wei Jiangxue needed more precise guidance to eat on her own, and her movements remained visibly difficult.
Mi Ruian watched her try several times in silence. Each time the chopsticks missed or nearly knocked over a water glass, the atmosphere grew more tense.
Finally, when a spoonful of porridge nearly spilled on Wei Jiangxue, Mi Ruian seemed to lose all patience and stood up abruptly.
She wasn’t leaving; instead, she sat directly on the booth seat next to Wei Jiangxue.
Before Wei Jiangxue could react, Mi Ruian naturally took the spoon from her hand, scooped up a spoonful of warm golden millet porridge, and brought it to her lips.
“I’ll feed you. Stop struggling.”
Wei Jiangxue stiffened completely, her ears turning so red they looked ready to drip blood. She could feel the rich fragrance of roses from Mi Ruian’s proximity, which now carried a hint of dominance, forming a barrier that shielded her from any curious glances from other customers.
“I… I can do it myse—”
“Don’t move,” Mi Ruian interrupted, her voice slightly lowered. “You wouldn’t want to knock over the restaurant table in front of the other guests, would you?”
These words were half a threat and half… a clumsy kind of care.
Wei Jiangxue pursed her lips and obediently lowered her head, taking the spoonful of porridge from her hand.
Sigh, I was supposed to be the one treating Mi Ruian to dinner. How did it end up with me hiring a feeding assistant?
Wei Jiangxue guiltily ate the porridge. The warm porridge mixed with fried rice melted in her mouth, improving her mood and making her forget the embarrassment.
Mi Ruian watched her swallow the food obediently. Those sightless eyes were now slightly lowered, looking exceptionally docile. A strange sense of satisfaction quietly crossed her heart. Her face remained expressionless, but her movements didn’t stop as she picked up another bite of rice and vegetables and offered it again.
“Ah, open up.”
Throughout the feeding process, Mi Ruian acted with fluid grace, as if taking care of Wei Jiangxue was the most natural thing in the world.
Occasionally, a waiter noticed them and wanted to offer help, but after catching the possessive glare from Mi Ruian, they wisely chose to retreat.
After Wei Jiangxue had eaten enough, she suddenly remembered the fruit wine she had wanted to try when ordering. “Mi Ruian, can you get the fruit wine for me? I forgot to drink it just now.”
The plates had been cleared from the table, leaving only two glasses of clear fruit wine shimmering with honey-colored light under the lamps.
Mi Ruian’s eyes flickered as she stared at Wei Jiangxue’s face. “Even though it’s fruit wine, this restaurant’s special brew has quite a kick. Are you sure you want to drink it?”
“I want to drink it,” Wei Jiangxue insisted. Hearing the clink of the glass from Mi Ruian’s side, her tone carried a rare hint of curiosity and experimentation. She rarely touched alcohol normally; perhaps it was the atmosphere now, or perhaps she wanted to use it to wash away the subtle embarrassment of being fed.
The fingers Mi Ruian used to hold the wine glass paused, and she looked up at the person opposite her. Wei Jiangxue’s blind eyes happened to be facing her direction, and her face still carried a faint, un-faded flush.
Words of refusal hovered on the tip of her tongue before finally turning into an almost inaudible sigh.
Why does she have to look so pitiful? It was as if by not agreeing to Wei Jiangxue, Mi Ruian had become a criminal.
It’s just one glass; it should be fine, right?
Thinking this, Mi Ruian reached out and handed a glass to Wei Jiangxue.
Wei Jiangxue carefully took the glass, the cold sensation making her flinch slightly.
She lowered her head and sniffed. A sweet fruit fragrance mixed with a hint of alcoholic sharpness entered her nose. She took a tentative sip; the sweet taste spread in her mouth like juice, with almost no hint of alcohol.
“So sweet.” As if discovering something new, she lowered her head and took another large gulp.
Mi Ruian watched her, and just as she was about to tell her to slow down, she saw Wei Jiangxue set down the cup and sway imperceptibly.
“…Wei Jiangxue?”
Mi Ruian watched helplessly as she fell backward, slumping into the restaurant chair.
“What? A one-glass wonder?” Mi Ruian stood up helplessly, walked around the table, and caught Wei Jiangxue before she slid off the chair.
Wei Jiangxue’s soft body leaned into her arms without any defense, her head lolling to the side to rest in the crook of Mi Ruian’s neck.
Her hot breath, carrying the sweet scent of fruit wine, sprayed across the side of Mi Ruian’s neck.
That elegant Freesia pheromone, now steamed by the alcohol to become increasingly dense, felt as if it had become physical, winding around her. It actually caused Mi Ruian to feel a sudden, inexplicable sense of intoxication.
“It was just one glass of fruit wine…” Mi Ruian looked at the person in her arms, who now had blurred eyes and crimson cheeks, feeling half-amused and half-helpless.
She tried to straighten Wei Jiangxue up, but the “drunken cat” seemed to have found the most comfortable support. Instead, she reached out her soft arms and limp-mindedly wrapped them around Mi Ruian’s waist, muttering unconsciously, “Mm… don’t move… dizzy…”
Mi Ruian’s body stiffened for a moment. The heat from the person in her arms traveled through the fabric; the dependent posture was one of total trust and lack of guard.
She closed her eyes, called the waiter to settle the bill, and then, as if accepting her fate, adjusted her posture. One hand held Wei Jiangxue’s shoulder while the other slipped under her knees, and with a slight effort, she lifted her up in a princess carry.
Wei Jiangxue was lighter than she had imagined.
“Such a trouble,” Mi Ruian muttered under her breath, but her arms held her steadily. She carefully avoided the tables and chairs and left the restaurant with a blank face.
The night breeze was slightly cool, blowing against Wei Jiangxue’s face. She moved restlessly, burrowing deeper into Mi Ruian’s embrace in search of warmth. That scent of Freesia, mixed with the sweet fragrance of fruit wine, domineeringly occupied Mi Ruian’s breath.
Mi Ruian looked down at the unconscious sleeping face in her arms; the long eyelashes cast soft shadows under the eyelids.
A previously unknown, unfamiliar soft emotion quietly flooded her heart.
She held her tight and walked step by step toward their rented apartment.
