- Chapter 4 - The Senior Sister and Her Cat
Hua Ying truly did not understand why the flames of war had suddenly spread to her.
She was just a little kitten minding her own business, eating melons (spectating).
Furthermore, this Second Elder if he wanted to speak, he should just speak why was he resorting to personal attacks?
Yan Zhao glanced at the Second Elder, her dark pupils as cold as condensed frost. “Second Elder, Hua Ying is also a disciple of our Liuyun Sect. She is not a ‘useless waste’.”
The Second Elder responded with a disdainful sneer. “A lowly half-demon who hasn’t even broken through to the Foundation Establishment stage? If she isn’t a waste, then what is she?”
“My disciple told me that he discovered this half-demon was planting a curse on you and intended to take her to the Hall of Punishment, yet you struck and injured him just to protect this half-demon!”
“Yan Zhao, as the Eldest Senior Sister, you fail to set an example and instead practice favoritism and concealment. Do you acknowledge your mistake?!”
As he roared those final words, the Second Elder secretly infused them with dense spiritual power.
Under the intense pressure, Yan Zhao’s face turned pale.
She bit her lip, barely managing to steady her footing.
Standing to the side, Hua Ying listened, absolutely dumbfounded.
This Wei Jun really had a knack for twisting black into white; he actually managed to splash all the dirty water onto her head!
She had been wondering why the Liuyun Sect disciples she encountered over the past two days were looking at her and Yan Zhao with such strange expressions.
Suppressing the chaotic spiritual energy within her body, Yan Zhao looked up and said word by word, “I am not wrong. Furthermore, this matter has nothing to do with Hua Ying.”
The matter of the Love-Entwining Curse was definitely Wei Jun’s doing, but she had no evidence. Speaking of it before the extremely protective Second Elder would be useless.
The woman’s face was pale, and her fingers hidden beneath her red sleeves were clenched tight. However, her waist remained ramrod straight. Her dark eyes held a stubborn and fearless glint as she stared directly at the Second Elder.
“Good! Very good!” The Second Elder laughed out of sheer rage.
Yan Zhao was the Sect Leader’s prized disciple; it was nearly impossible for him to take action against her directly.
He might not be able to do anything to Yan Zhao, but surely he could deal with that little half-demon?
The Second Elder reached out, his spiritual power manifesting into a palm. In the blink of an eye, he snatched Hua Ying up and brought her before him.
He squeezed Hua Ying’s neck with such force that her face instantly turned a deep shade of red.
Hua Ying struggled wildly in distress but could not break free. She could only silently call out to the system for help so that she wouldn’t actually suffocate.
This old geezer!
“Hua Ying!” Yan Zhao’s expression shifted, her willow-leaf brows furrowing deeply. “Second Elder, what are you doing?”
“Since you, the Eldest Senior Sister, cannot manage the disciples beneath you, then I, as an Elder, shall manage them for you.”
The Second Elder gave a cold laugh. “Rest assured, regardless of anything else, this waste is still a disciple of the Liuyun Sect. I will not kill her.”
But he certainly wouldn’t make things easy for her!
He cast a Body-Fixing Spell on Yan Zhao and straight away dragged the listless Hua Ying away.
Before long, the Second Elder tossed Hua Ying onto the ground like a piece of discarded rag.
Being thrown so heavily, Hua Ying felt as though her internal organs had nearly shifted out of place; the pain made her grimace.
She looked up and saw the words “Lieyun Peak” shining brilliantly under the bright daylight.
Lieyun Peak was the residence of the Second Elder and his disciples.
The Second Elder barked, “Disrespecting elders and harming fellow disciples your punishment is to kneel before the gates of Lieyun Peak for three days.”
The words carried the weight of law; invisible chains descended upon Hua Ying, forcing her to kneel on the ground.
Setting aside those fabricated charges, just hearing “kneel for three days” almost made Hua Ying cough up a mouthful of old blood.
The faint spiritual power she possessed was entirely suppressed by the Second Elder; she was currently no different from an ordinary person.
If she truly knelt here for three days, she felt the old man was just looking for a fancy way to kill her!
“I didn’t…” Hua Ying wanted to argue, but her throat suddenly felt as if it were blocked by something; she couldn’t utter a single syllable.
The Second Elder’s expression remained indifferent. He didn’t spare Hua Ying another glance as he turned and flicked his sleeves, entering the mountain peak.
Patter. A raindrop fell onto Hua Ying’s face.
In the next instant, the Liuyun Sect which was usually bathed in fine weather suddenly experienced a torrential downpour.
Hua Ying: “…”
Small-minded old geezer!
The system, rarely seeing Hua Ying in such a pathetic state, suppressed its urge to kick her while she was down: How is it, baby? Want me to block the rain for you?
Hua Ying shook her head. “No need.”
There was no shortage of Liuyun Sect disciples passing by Lieyun Peak to watch the excitement. She had the Second Elder’s seal on her and was devoid of spiritual power.
If someone noticed anything unusual, it would be even more troublesome.
The rain formed from spiritual energy was colder than natural rain; clinging to her drenched clothes, the chill seeped bit by bit into her bones.
The rain blurred Hua Ying’s vision. After kneeling for an unknown amount of time, her head began to feel dizzy.
Even dizzier than when she ate Silver-Button Grass.
The scene before her began to sway, and the scrapes on her back felt both cold and painful.
Through the pitter-patter of the rain curtain, Hua Ying caught a vague glimpse of a familiar figure.
A faint, delicate fragrance drifted into her nose, and an umbrella appeared over her head.
Hua Ying looked up, meeting Yan Zhao’s beautiful, obsidian-like dark eyes.
She reached out and grabbed the corner of Yan Zhao’s robe, as if to confirm it wasn’t a hallucination.
The corners of her mouth curled up into a weak smile. “Senior Sister, you’re here.”
Yan Zhao had been trapped by the Second Elder’s Body-Fixing Spell for nearly two hours; she had only broken the shackles by braving internal injuries.
Hastily wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth, she had immediately rushed to Lieyun Peak with her White Jade Sword.
The first thing she saw was the thin, fragile figure of the little half-demon amidst the celestial downpour.
Raindrops slid down the slender chin and fell heavily onto the ground.
In that moment, Yan Zhao suddenly felt a sharp twinge in her heart.
It shouldn’t be like this.
The little half-demon shouldn’t be this miserable.
She frowned uncomfortably, suppressing the strange sensation in her heart.
The White Jade Sword transformed into a twelve-section bone umbrella, coming to a halt above Hua Ying.
The little half-demon looked up at her, her damp eyes overflowing with her usual smile. “Senior Sister, you’re here.”
Yan Zhao paused for a moment.
After a long while, she finally patted her head.
“I am here. Don’t be afraid.”
