The Beauty Said She Has A Secret Crush On Me - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
As Zhuang Lu and Wu Nianxi hastily finished dinner and packed a fast-food portion for Cai Ya, they found three men already by Cai Jing’s bedside. Wen Zhuo was leaning against the wall, his face bruised. Zhang Kunrong and Yu Hu stood on either side, forming a defensive stance across the bed.
“Jing, I’m sorry. You don’t have to do this because of me. We can talk things through.” Zhang Kunrong tried to hold Cai Jing’s hand.
At this moment, Cai Jing, having already undergone IV fluids, blood drawing, stomach pumping, and blood exchange, lay on the bed, looking like a fragile doll. Her attempt to pull away was too weak, and Zhang Kunrong held onto her hand. She struggled but couldn’t free herself, casting a pleading look toward Yu Hu on the other side.
Yu Hu didn’t react, his face wooden, as if held in place by someone using a freezing point technique.
Meanwhile, Zhang Kunrong continued, “If you hadn’t left me, none of this would have happened. Once you’re better, I won’t hold it against you. We’ll be fine.”
Zhuang Lu felt a surge of fury rush to her head. Good heavens, what nerve! This man twisted his words, placing all the blame on Cai Jing, and then dared to say he “won’t hold it against her.” Who the hell gave him such a thick skin! Zhuang Lu was about to step forward and throw both the domestic abuser and the cowardly man out of the ward.
Then she heard Cai Ya, who had just returned from taking a phone call outside to request leave, let out a cold laugh and snap, “Don’t touch her! Let go of her hand immediately!”
Cai Ya’s intimidating presence made Zhang Kunrong immediately release his grip. He explained meekly, “I was just too angry about her cheating before, that’s why I accidentally hit her. I have no ill will, I still love her!”
“Bullshit!” Cai Ya, usually poised in legal arguments, swore at the graduate student. “I warn you two, if anything happens to Cai Jing, I will absolutely not let you off the hook, you, and you!” Her finger fiercely pointed at Zhang Kunrong, then at the silent Yu Hu.
Zhang Kunrong, sporting a black eye from the punch Yu Hu had landed earlier, weakly argued, “It wasn’t me who made Jing commit suicide! Blame him! He seduced someone else’s girlfriend! My relationship with Jing was always good. All these subsequent events happened because of his seduction!”
Following Zhang Kunrong’s accusation, Yu Hu finally spoke, uttering his first words since arriving at the hospital. “I didn’t. Cai Jing pursued me first.”
Cai Ya sneered, “Cai Jing, do you see? These are your ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend. These are the men you fell for. You wanted to end your life over this trash.” The more she spoke, the angrier she became. Harsher words formulated in her mind, but Cai Ya suddenly bit her lower lip, stopping herself from saying anything more to provoke Cai Jing.
Cai Jing on the hospital bed was already tear-streaked. Already weak, she was now sobbing, gasping for breath. She trembled, attempting to sit up. Zhuang Lu quickly stepped forward, shoved Zhang Kunrong aside, and helped Cai Jing sit up.
Cai Jing looked at Yu Hu, her eyes full of despair. “Believe it or not, I only got together with you after breaking up with Zhang Kunrong. I didn’t cheat, and I wasn’t playing with you. I truly liked you.”
Perhaps that one sentence, “truly liked you,” stimulated Yu Hu. The boy suddenly roared at Cai Jing, full of anger, “Then why did you sleep with him at the end of August! Is this what you call liking me! Are you naturally craving for sex?”
Following Yu Hu’s sudden outburst, the ward fell into a moment of frigid silence. Cai Ya and Zhuang Lu were about to erupt and curse back, when they heard Cai Jing give a heartbreaking, bitter laugh. Her voice suddenly became sharp, and she yelled, “Wen Zhuo.”
Wen Zhuo was taken aback. Why was he involved? He walked to the bedside. “What?”
“Tell the truth, did you already see that photo?”
Wen Zhuo was silent. His silent acknowledgment was equivalent to agreement.
Under the continuous blows, Cai Jing felt as if her heart was being carved out. She cried and laughed, her expression hysterical. She nodded numbly. “Fine. If I die, please explain to everyone that I, Cai Jing, may not be proper, but I am not promiscuous. I only slept with two men, and they are both here. One man took advantage of his birthday party to rape me, and the other man took my nude photo as a topic for gossip.” Cai Jing clenched her hands into tight fists. “If I die, the two of you are the murderers! I curse you both to never! Never find happiness in this life!”
She finished, then used her last bit of strength to roar, “Get out! Both of you, get out!”
Yu Hu stood frozen. Zhang Kunrong was still lingering, wanting to say something. Zhuang Lu could no longer restrain herself. She used all her strength to grab Zhang Kunrong’s arm and violently shoved him toward the door. Zhang Kunrong hadn’t expected her to be so strong. He barely avoided falling by holding onto the door frame. On the other side, Zhuang Lu used the same method. Her hand, like a branding iron, fiercely pinched Yu Hu. The Law School forward was taller and stronger than Zhuang Lu, but Zhuang Lu threw him out the door with almost no effort.
Looking at the two scumbags, Zhuang Lu fiercely bared her teeth, her bulk making her look even more menacing. She gritted her teeth, the words practically leaping from her molars. “Be smart, scram. Otherwise, I’ll beat you both up, then you can scram!” As she spoke, she clenched her fists, making her knuckles crackle, looking utterly ferocious.
When Zhuang Lu returned to the bedside, Cai Jing was lying back down, staring blankly at the ceiling without a sound. Cai Ya, who usually despaired over her cousin, sat by the bed, tightly holding Cai Jing’s hand. Crystalline tears floated in the corner of her eyes, and she murmured, “Don’t be afraid. Sister is here. I will stay with you. Don’t worry, I won’t let them get away with this! I will protect you! Don’t worry…”
In that moment, it was unclear whether she was comforting Cai Jing or compensating for the guilt in her own heart.
Cai Jing’s mother was a traffic police officer. While checking for drunk driving, a middle-aged driver, driven by reckless malice, suddenly started his previously stopped car, dragging Cai Jing’s mother for over a hundred meters before crashing into a large truck in a panic. Both the driver and Cai Jing’s mother died instantly. The following year, Cai Jing’s father, a narcotics officer, was shot and killed during the arrest of drug dealers. Cai Jing became an orphan.
Cai Ya’s family was slightly better off, so Cai Jing was initially raised in her home. The two children slept on the same bed, and Cai Ya would often hear Cai Jing crying in the middle of the night. Cai Jing was barely ten years old then, but she already understood that her mom and dad were gone, and she had no home…
Cai Ya still remembered lying in bed, listening to Cai Jing’s restrained cries, and she secretly vowed to take good care of her cousin.
But this youthful oath was ultimately broken.
That night, Cai Jing underwent her second session of hemoperfusion.
Cai Ya stood guard at the hospital, insisting that Zhuang Lu and Wu Nianxi leave.
When Zhuang Lu and Wu Nianxi left the hospital, it was already eleven o’clock at night. The empty streets were swept by a cold wind, and dry leaves skittered along with the wind, making a “swooshing” sound.
It was colder at night than during the day. While waiting for a taxi, Zhuang Lu looked at the shivering Wu Nianxi. She compared their heights and the beauty Wu’s slender frame. After a moment’s hesitation, she unzipped her long down jacket and wrapped Wu Nianxi in a hug from behind.
They are both girls. What is there to fear between girls! Zhuang Lu thought, using her arms to close the zipper of the down jacket in the front.
Wu Nianxi was enveloped by the down jacket, her back pressed tightly against Zhuang Lu’s chest. In the winter night, it was warm, like a large hot water bottle.
But after remaining stiff and stunned for a few seconds, Wu Nianxi’s face suddenly flushed!
