Chapter 4: Your Alpha is Very Handsome
Xu Jingchu wasn’t one to meddle in other people’s business, but seeing the man’s desolate expression, he couldn’t help but speak up.
Huo Yan tilted his head.
For a moment, he thought he was hallucinating—seeing that beautiful boy again, who looked like a rain sprite from the night before.
Seeing that he didn’t respond, Xu Jingchu thought for a moment, then unclipped a small dog ornament from his backpack.
“Jingle, jingle—jingle—”
The familiar sound of the bells overlapped with what Huo Yan had heard in the rain last night. In the air, there seemed to be a faint, lingering scent of narcissus.
Huo Yan’s mind drifted into a daze. The gland at the back of his neck throbbed without warning.
Xu Jingchu stepped forward and, with a hint of reluctance, gently placed the dog ornament into the man’s large palm. His gaze was clear and sincere: “Whenever I miss my mom and dad, I shake it. The sound makes me feel better.”
The fragrance of narcissus grew stronger.
Huo Yan suppressed the urge to take a deep breath and looked down. The dog ornament in his hand was very ordinary, as were the two pink bells, yet it inexplicably warmed the frozen corners of his heart.
Xu Jingchu blinked. “You won’t throw it away, right?”
Huo Yan’s Adam’s apple bobbed subtly. “No,” he replied, his voice slightly hoarse. “I won’t. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Xu Jingchu curled his lips into a smile and pointed a slender finger toward the closed door of the private dining room. “Are you going in there to eat?”
Huo Yan paused, then said with self-deprecation, “No. Others aren’t exactly keen on sitting with me.”
Xu Jingchu was very sensitive to emotional shifts. After a thought, he grabbed the man’s wrist and said in a lighthearted voice, “Follow me.”
Huo Yan didn’t struggle. He followed half a step behind, his narrow eyes inadvertently brushing past that fair nape.
The tender pink gland of an Omega was faintly visible beneath the collar.
He was a very beautiful little Omega.
Huo Yan slowly tightened his grip on the dog ornament. His heart began to beat faster, beat by beat, and the wrist being held started to grow warm.
It wasn’t until they reached the stairwell that Xu Jingchu remembered to ask, “Do you mind taking the stairs down with me?”
They were on the fifth floor.
Huo Yan looked at him with dark eyes. “I don’t mind.” In truth, he was curious where the boy was taking him.
Xu Jingchu’s eyes crinkled as he led the way down.
Jinghui Garden was a high-end restaurant and naturally had elevators, but he preferred using his legs. Just the act of walking gave him an unspeakable sense of happiness.
As the two headed downstairs one after the other, Xiao Yu suddenly alerted him upon reaching the first floor
Chuchu, a classmate has appeared two meters ahead of the entrance!
Xu Jingchu stopped abruptly and reflexively stepped back, accidentally bumping into the man’s chest behind him.
The narcissus fragrance suddenly intensified. Huo Yan froze for half a second before reaching out to steady him, maintaining a gentlemanly and polite distance. His voice was deep and mellow: “Are you alright?”
“Shh.” Xu Jingchu held a slender finger to his lips, signaling for silence. He then peeked from behind the wall toward the restaurant entrance.
There was indeed a classmate standing there, though they weren’t close and rarely spoke.
Huo Yan’s gaze lingered on the back of the boy’s head for a second before following his line of sight.
Xu Jingchu whispered, “That’s my classmate. He can’t see me here.”
So, he’s still a student.
Huo Yan glanced down at the boy’s worn-out clothes, looking thoughtful. “Do you work here?”
Xu Jingchu was focused on the classmate at the door and didn’t hear clearly. He gave a casual “Mm.”
A moment later, the classmate finally left.
Xu Jingchu breathed a sigh of relief. “Let’s go. I’ll take you to get something delicious.”
Huo Yan was startled. “You brought me down here just to take me to eat something good?”
“Yes.” Xu Jingchu grabbed his wrist again and smiled. “Let’s go.”
At the same time, the doors of the private elevator opened with a ding. The manager of Jinghui Garden respectfully accompanied Xu’s father and mother out.
Seeing that the manager intended to keep escorting them, Father Xu said calmly, “That’s far enough.”
The manager bowed respectfully. “Understood. Have a safe trip, Mr. Xu.”
Suddenly, Mother Xu’s gaze froze. She watched two figures walking away hand-in-hand in the distance. “Chu Bao?”
Father Xu followed her gaze, his face instantly darkening. “Who is that man?”
The manager became panicked. “Mr. Xu…”
Father Xu waved him off impatiently. “I’m not talking to you.”
Mother Xu gave him a sidelong glance. “You look like you’re about to eat someone. What are you planning?”
Before Father Xu could answer, she added softly, “Don’t you dare ruin Chu Bao’s date.”
Father Xu: “…”
Meanwhile, Xu Jingchu led Huo Yan into a cake shop.
The shop was romantically decorated in warm tones. There were three rows of seating on either side, featuring pink-and-white crystal-like long tables and double swing chairs made of vines hanging from the ceiling. Looking up, one could see various exquisite and cute wind chimes hanging in the air, occasionally making crisp, pleasant sounds with the breeze. Simply walking into such an environment brought a sense of peace and warmth.
Huo Yan looked around. On the left, a couple was sitting close together, whispering and occasionally feeding each other cake. The pink, sweet atmosphere was palpable even from a distance.
Huo Yan was momentarily stunned and couldn’t help but look at the beautiful boy beside him a few more times.
An Alpha and an Omega coming to a place like this…
Xu Jingchu lightly tugged on Huo Yan’s sleeve and whispered, “Sit down first. I’ll go buy the cake.”
Xu Jingchu bought two small cakes. When paying, he pulled out a stack of paper bills and some coins from his pocket.
Huo Yan narrowed his eyes slightly. His superior vision allowed him to see clearly that the largest bill was only ten yuan.
After paying, Xu Jingchu carefully put the change back in his pocket and walked back to the table with a light step, sitting across from Huo Yan.
“Do you like strawberry or chocolate?” he asked, blinking softly.
Huo Yan’s gaze moved from the boy’s face to the two different cakes.
“Chocolate,” he replied. A man who didn’t like sweets figured chocolate would be less sugary.
Xu Jingchu placed the strawberry cake in front of him. Seeing the man’s puzzled look, his dark eyes curved into beautiful crescents. “You’re in a bad mood right now, so you should eat the sweeter strawberry cake. We can save the chocolate cake for next time when you’re in a good mood; that way, you’ll appreciate it the most.”
The boy’s smile was clean, as pure as a freshly bloomed narcissus, and his bright eyes sparkled with a touch of clever mischief.
Adorable and captivating.
Huo Yan’s Adam’s apple slid slightly. Good moods are contagious; even without eating anything sweet, he had already forgotten his unhappiness.
This was likely an angel sent to him by the heavens.
Huo Yan gazed at the boy with the smiling eyes, the corners of his own lips tilting up slightly.
“Thank you,” he said softly.
Xu Jingchu had already eaten dinner, but he still unwrapped the chocolate cake to eat with the man.
It was strange—two strangers sitting together, yet the atmosphere was incredibly harmonious. They had both even forgotten to ask for each other’s names.
Just then, a shop assistant approached Xu Jingchu holding a delicate, blooming rose. “Hello, this is a gift from our shop. We wish you two a long and happy life together.”
Xu Jingchu blinked. “Long and happy life?”
The assistant blushed as she glanced at Huo Yan. “Your Alpha is very handsome.”
Xu Jingchu didn’t quite understand the implication, but after seeing the table next to them receive a flower as well, he didn’t pay it much mind.
Maybe the shop is running a promotion, he thought.
While eating the cake, Huo Yan couldn’t help but keep looking at the boy across from him. It was somewhat impolite, but he couldn’t stop.
“Your Alpha is very handsome.”
Why hadn’t the boy denied that they were a couple?
