The Arrogant Young Lady's Obsessive Son-in-Law A - Chapter 4
The fact that Lin Wanshuang was getting married to Ming Jiao was blurted out directly to Sang Xuerui by Lin Wanshuang herself. Since the words were already out there, Lin Chenqing and Zuo Xiangjun couldn’t say much more.
However, they still gave Lin Wanshuang a proper scolding in front of Ming Jiao in the hospital room, only stopping after freezing her allowance for three months.
As for Ming Jiao, the two mothers were overcome with guilt. They first solemnly asked for her consent; upon learning she was willing to cooperate with Lin Wanshuang in this “act,” their gratitude and guilt became boundless. Aside from money, they didn’t know how else to thank her, so they left Ming Jiao a Black Card before departing.
Lin Wanshuang sat on the sofa, taking tiny bites of the apple her mother had just peeled for her. Her tone was a bit sour. “My mom is so good to you, she even gave you a Black Card.”
Ming Jiao leaned back against the hospital bed, looking relaxed. Her messy blonde hair was a bit dull, but it didn’t detract from her looks at all. “Then you take it. I don’t need it,” she said, pushing the gold-rimmed Black Card toward Lin Wanshuang.
The sound of chewing slowly stopped. Lin Wanshuang stared fixedly at Ming Jiao, her grape-like dark eyes filled with scrutiny and confusion.
“What is it?” Ming Jiao asked.
“You’re really strange.” Lin Wanshuang put down the apple and looked intently at Ming Jiao. “If anyone else got this Black Card, they’d be over the moon. But you don’t look surprised at all. Your emotional fluctuations are so small, does being an E-grade Alpha’s ‘impotence’ actually affect one’s emotions too?”
Ming Jiao: “…”
“Actually, that’s not right either,” Lin Wanshuang murmured to herself. “When I first entered the room, you looked quite unhappy. You only got better after I said thank you.”
Ming Jiao was inwardly surprised; she hadn’t expected the other girl to be so perceptive of emotions.
“This Black Card wasn’t part of our agreed-upon payment. It wasn’t mine to begin with, so there’s no need to be that excited,” Ming Jiao said, calmly changing the subject.
Lin Wanshuang nodded in agreement, though she pushed the card back toward Ming Jiao. “Keep the card yourself. I have one too, it’s just been frozen for three months. But… you don’t think that when I said I’d pay your salary, I meant using my mother’s money, right? You wouldn’t think that, would you?”
Her expression was vivid, her face practically screaming: I am very strong, I can earn money on my own, and I’m not just a brat who spends her mothers’ money. She looked at Ming Jiao expectantly.
Ming Jiao replied, “Of course not.”
Hearing this, Lin Wanshuang’s expectations were met. Her joyful expression radiated sweetness like honey. She gave a soft “humph” and tilted her slender, fair neck like a proud little swan. “I knew you’d believe me.”
The marriage between the two was settled just like that. Because of her rut symptoms, Ming Jiao spent five full days recuperating in the hospital. Once the symptoms had completely passed, she prepared to be discharged.
During her recovery, she didn’t see Lin Wanshuang again. Since she wasn’t disabled and could care for herself, she declined the help of a caregiver, only keeping the three daily meals that were sent over.
Five days of rest made Ming Jiao look like a different person. Her platinum-blonde short hair was brilliant once again.
Ming Jiao hadn’t brought many personal items to the hospital, so as she prepared to leave today, she only had a few extra pieces of clothing Lin Wanshuang had sent over.
After stuffing the clothes into her backpack, Ming Jiao took out her phone to ask Lin Wanshuang about the next steps. After all, this Miss Lin was now her employer.
Before Ming Jiao could call, a familiar voice came from the doorway. “All packed?”
At the door stood Lin Wanshuang. She was wearing a slim-fitting deep blue shirt dress with a dark coffee-colored overcoat. Her high-collared base layer made her face look exceptionally small and her skin even fairer. She looked quite beautiful.
Ming Jiao turned around and was momentarily stunned by the sight. She raised an eyebrow slightly. “I didn’t have much to begin with.”
“Alright then, let’s go.” Lin Wanshuang yawned and turned to walk out of the ward.
Ming Jiao caught up in a few steps, walking half a pace behind Lin Wanshuang. With a height difference of about half a head, she could see the top of Lin Wanshuang’s head without even looking down.
Two hair whorls. A sign of a stubborn soul.
Ming Jiao wasn’t a cold person. Since she had decided to cooperate with Lin Wanshuang, she didn’t intend to treat her as a stranger. Seeing her so tired that tears clung to her eyelashes from yawning, Ming Jiao showed some concern. “Are you very sleepy?”
Lin Wanshuang gave a lazy response, not explaining why she was so tired.
“Did you drive here yourself?”
Lin Wanshuang nodded, quietly waiting for Ming Jiao to continue asking questions. When she didn’t hear anything after a while, she tilted her head slightly and spoke in a groggy tone, “Why did you stop asking?”
Ming Jiao toyed with her phone with one hand, replying with a light chuckle without looking up, “I’m checking if the accident insurance covers car crashes caused by fatigued driving.”
Lin Wanshuang froze for two seconds before reacting. She indignantly tossed the car keys into Ming Jiao’s arms. “Then you drive! You are so annoying!”
“Eldest Miss, if you’re sleepy, you should rest at home. You didn’t need to come all the way to the hospital to pick me up.”
Lin Wanshuang was so annoyed that her sleepiness vanished. “Who came specifically for you? You sure know how to flatter yourself.”
Though she said that, in her heart, she felt that this woman was treating her kindness like dirt. Simply not human!
Ming Jiao smiled and reached out to drape an arm over Lin Wanshuang’s shoulder in a friendly, “bro-like” manner. “Yes, yes, Eldest Miss was just passing by. Eldest Miss is such a good person.”
Lin Wanshuang: “Don’t get so close to me. Alphas and Omegas should keep their distance.”
Ming Jiao: “Oh, didn’t you say I’m an E-grade Alpha and a girl? No need for formalities, no need.”
Lin Wanshuang: “…” This person is definitely here just to spite me!
Trading barbs, the two soon arrived at the parking lot. Ming Jiao followed Lin Wanshuang to a pink Mercedes Benz G-Wagon. It sat in the empty parking lot with an incredibly arrogant presence.
Lin Wanshuang opened the passenger door and sat down. Once Ming Jiao was in the driver’s seat, Lin Wanshuang entered their destination into the console.
As soon as Ming Jiao entered the car and saw the almost entirely pink interior, she couldn’t help but give Lin Wanshuang a thumbs up. “Eldest Miss, your car certainly has… personality.”
“Humph.” Lin Wanshuang buckled her seatbelt. “Let’s go. Home first. I’m dying of sleepiness.”
“You got it.”
The destination was a location in the center of Jincheng City. The drive was smooth with no traffic and very few red lights. Occasionally, when they hit a red light, Ming Jiao would stop and turn to look at Lin Wanshuang, only to find that the other girl had already tilted her head and fallen fast asleep.
Seeing the obvious dark circles under her eyes, Ming Jiao silently reached out and turned the car’s temperature up a bit.
