- Chapter 2 - Beating Up Second Brother
Lin Luo ignored Xu Hui, the original body’s mother, and carried Lin Xue into the villa, casually tossing her onto the carpet before turning to leave.
“Stop! Your mother is talking to you!” A man a head taller than her blocked her path, his tone was domineering and arrogant.
Lin Luo looked up. The man wore a light blue custom-tailored suit that clashed horribly with his flashy, bleached blonde hair. It was Lin Zhenxiang, the original body’s second brother.
According to the original body’s memories, despite being Xu Hui’s biological daughter, Lin Luo held no place in her mother’s heart.
Xu Hui’s hierarchy of favor: Lin Xue > Lin Zhenxiang > Lin Zhenyu > Lin Xuan (Lin Luo’s father) > Gubi (the pet dog) > Lin Luo.
This is absurd, Lin Luo thought. Is this world poisoned? Her own daughter ranks lower than a dog?
“What does it matter to you that Mom is talking to me?”
Facing the overbearing Lin Zhenxiang, Lin Luo instinctively took two steps back—a reflexive reaction from the original body’s memories. After all, he had beaten her countless times since childhood, leaving her bruised and battered each time.
Whenever the original Lin Luo was beaten, Xu Hui would ignore her injuries, dismissing them as normal sibling roughhousing—a joke between brothers and sisters. She’d tell her not to take it so seriously, asking, “Which family’s siblings didn’t roughhouse when they were young?”
“You—! How dare you talk to me like that! I don’t feel like beating you up today, so apologize now!” Lin Zhenxiang gripped Lin Luo’s wrist tightly, glaring at her with venom.
Xu Hui pretended not to notice. She crouched beside her beloved eldest daughter, quietly summoning maids to carry the unconscious young lady to her bedroom.
In the next instant, Lin Luo flicked her wrist backward. Lin Zhenxiang heard the sickening crack of a broken bone and screamed, “Ah! Lin Luo! You bitch! I’m going to kill you!”
“Plenty of people want to kill me. Who do you think you are?” Lin Luo countered with a swift kick, sending Lin Zhenxiang flying from the doorway up to the second floor. He arced through the air, crashed through the floor-to-ceiling window, and landed safely below.
Crash!
Shatter!
“Rebellious! Absolutely rebellious! Seize this disobedient daughter!”
Seeing her son beaten, Xu Hui finally snapped. She set Lin Xue down and jumped up, her dignified and loving matriarch persona instantly transforming into that of a furious, squawking shrew.
Lin Luo frowned, remembering how the original body’s owner had repeatedly begged her to save her sister, Lin Xue.
As a child, Lin Luo had angered Lin Zhenxiang, and Xu Hui had locked her in the basement, ordering the servants not to feed her for seven days. It was Lin Xue who secretly brought her food in the dead of night, saving her life.
Later, influenced by their family’s subtle disdain, Lin Xue gradually grew indifferent toward her younger sister, believing she wasn’t worthy of being their family. Even so, Lin Xue never bullied her, a fact that deeply moved the original body’s owner.
When the original body’s owner discovered her sister being humiliated by Young Master Gu and his group, she panicked. Just then, she encountered the soul from another world that had possessed her body.
Remembering how no one had ever loved her in this life, she felt utterly despondent. She willingly relinquished her body, begging the stranger to save her sister—the only ray of light in her childhood.
What a pain! This whole family! Lin Luo cursed inwardly, kicking the burly Security Captain fifty meters across the courtyard.
The lackeys behind the Security Captain recoiled in terror, only to be swept away by a forceful shadow that sent them flying 50 meters away.
Is this still the same weak and easily bullied Fourth Miss? How did she become so terrifying?!
Lin Luo glared at them with contempt, her voice ringing through the air like a challenge: “Those who aren’t afraid of death, come at me!”
“You’re insane! I’m going to have you committed to a psych ward! Wait…” Xu Hui trembled as she picked up the phone, preparing to call for help to apprehend Lin Luo.
Lin Luo whirled around, her gaze piercing Xu Hui on the sofa.
Her ink-black eyes, filled with murderous intent, suddenly blazed with blue light. Upon closer inspection, one could see the blue radiance crackling like lightning, distorted electric currents surging within.
Crack!
Boom!
In an instant, the lights in the luxurious villa went dark. Every electrical device exploded simultaneously. The phone in Xu Hui’s hand emitted thick black smoke, scorching her hand and forcing her to drop it.
“Ah! What have you done?!” Xu Hui tumbled off the sofa in terror. Her shoulders trembled uncontrollably as she clutched the carpet, crawling backward in a desperate attempt to escape.
The storm clouds on Lin Luo’s face gradually dissipated, and she raised an eyebrow disdainfully. “What did I do? Haven’t you all been provoking me since I returned?”
Xu Hui glanced at the security guards sprawled across the floor, her voice trembling. “Little Luo, your Second Brother was wrong, but you shouldn’t have gone so far! We’re family, and fighting among family is wrong! Don’t you agree?”
“Haha! How laughable! You call me family now? Lin Zhenxiang beat me countless times as a child, and you loved pretending to be blind, right? Keep pretending!”
Lin Luo glanced at Xu Hui’s stiff expression. “Next time, make sure your precious son keeps his hands off me!”
“Alright! Alright!” Xu Hui nodded vigorously, a flicker of venomous resentment crossing her eyes.
Lin Luo returned to the original body’s bedroom, smaller than even a servant’s quarters. She casually packed a few outfits into a suitcase, grabbed her ID and household registration book, and prepared to leave the Lin family residence.
The original body’s wish had been fulfilled; there was no reason to stay. She sensed the original body’s resistance to this place, which she believed was detrimental to the recovery of her abilities.
