The Alpha’s Hidden Marriage, Public Obsession - Chapter 55.2
So now, she was forcing herself to forget the past and start anew.
But why couldn’t Lin Yulan just let her go?!
Why did she have to push her to this point?
Did she have to leave completely before Lin Yulan would finally give up?!
“That’s right. It’s the best solution we have right now,” Jiang Xue said, enunciating every word. “Lin Yulan, can’t we just part on good terms?”
“No!”
Lin Yulan gritted her teeth. “If you really didn’t care about me, if you were really ready to forget me and start over with Xia Yin, then why did you turn back for me yesterday when you knew I was faking it?! Jiang Xue, deep down, you still care about me, don’t you? You just can’t let go, so you were afraid I’d get hurt that’s why, even though you knew I was pretending, you still turned around to check on me, didn’t you?”
Jiang Xue wanted to retort immediately, but what concerned her more was Lin Yulan’s remark about “starting over with Xia Yin.” She had never even been with Xia Yin, how could there be any “starting over”?
What the hell was this damn Alpha thinking all day? Just because she spent a lot of time with Xia Yin and they seemed to get along well, did that mean they had been together?
“Who told you Xia Yin and I were ever together?”
Lin Yulan thought, Isn’t it obvious?
Xia Yin had said as much in front of her any idiot could read between the lines.
“She said so herself.”
“What?”
“You don’t believe me?” Lin Yulan turned around, staring straight at Jiang Xue. She wanted to explain from the very first time she met Xia Yin, but she was afraid Jiang Xue would recall all the terrible things she had done in the past. In the end, she just asked firmly, “You were never with her?”
Jiang Xue almost snapped, Which damn eye of yours saw me with her? But after calming down, she decided it wasn’t worth getting angry with Lin Yulan over this. “Miss Lin, if you’re so fond of fantasies, I suggest you write scripts for the entertainment industry. I’m sure they’d sell like hotcakes.”
So, Zhang Xue had never been with Xia Yin?
But why would Xia Yin lie to her?
Was it to stop her from being with Jiang Xue?
That meant Xia Ran hadn’t lied Xia Yin genuinely had no idea she and Jiang Xue were already married.
“Lin Yulan, what else do you want to say? Do you plan on keeping me sitting in this car listening to your nonsense all night?” Jiang Xue saw that Lin Yulan hadn’t moved an inch, certain this damn Alpha was once again stewing over something that would make her stomach churn with anger. She couldn’t help but urge her on.
Lin Yulan checked the time, it was almost 7:30. Even if she really wanted to have a proper talk with Jiang Xue, she couldn’t keep her locked in the car forever. Besides, Jiang Xue hadn’t eaten yet. If she went any longer without food, her hypoglycemia would probably act up.
Reluctantly, Lin Yulan unlocked the car.
But she quickly got out first and, like a gentleman, opened the door for Jiang Xue.
Jiang Xue, however, wasn’t having any of it. She shifted to the other door and let herself out.
Lin Yulan felt a pang of bitterness but slowly closed the door and hurried around to walk alongside Jiang Xue.
Just as they were about to enter the villa, Lin Yulan caught sight of a strangely familiar car out of the corner of her eye, a Rolls-Royce. There was nothing particularly unusual about that; plenty of people in the Lin family drove them, and there were several in the garage. But the color of this Rolls-Royce was one Lin Yulan recognized instantly. She was sure she’d seen it before, though she couldn’t place it right away.
An ominous feeling settled in her gut.
But before she could figure out whose car it was, the moment she stepped inside, Lin Yulan’s expression darkened completely.
And it wasn’t just herJiang Xue’s face fell too.
Because the person sitting in the living room was none other than Lin Yulan’s archrival, Zhao Jin, accompanied by Qu Mengxin.
Lin Yulan wanted to curse out loud. She didn’t even dare glance at Jiang Xue’s expression right now, so she could only grit her teeth and glare at the two sitting on the sofa.
“Uncle Zhao, why didn’t you call me when we had guests?”
The butler had met Qu Mengxin before and knew that she was the one who had abandoned the young mistress. He was also aware that Qu Mengxin and the young madam had been university classmates and former love rivals. So, if Qu Mengxin had come alone, he would have immediately shown her the door.
But unfortunately, Qu Mengxin had arrived with the eldest daughter of the Zhao family. Although the Lin and Zhao families didn’t get along, they still had some business dealings, making it unwise to completely sever ties.
The butler approached and whispered to Lin Yulan, “Miss, I tried calling you, but your phone was unreachable, so…”
Lin Yulan suddenly remembered that she had set her phone to silent to avoid interruptions during her time alone with Jiang Xue. Now, she wanted to curse or better yet, go back in time and slap her past self.
When Jiang Xue saw Qu Mengxin, if she had once felt as though her heart had turned to ashes, now it felt utterly shattered, as if cut into countless pieces. The pain was so intense she could barely breathe.
She wanted to leave, to flee this place immediately, unwilling to be treated like a clown, her last shred of dignity trampled into the dirt.
Yet her legs seemed to refuse her command, unable to take even a single step.
The moment Qu Mengxin saw that the person Lin Yulan had brought back was Jiang Xue, her expression darkened though she was skilled at masking her emotions, and the flicker of discomfort vanished in an instant.
Beside her, Zhao Jin froze for a second upon seeing Jiang Xue, then immediately understood. With a malicious smile, she stood up and said, “Long time no see, Lin Yulan. I came today to discuss the matter of the walk. I heard you’ve gotten married this must be the young madam of the Lin family, right? Hmm, now that I look at her, she bears quite a resemblance to my Asa. Oh, my apologies, I didn’t mean anything by it. It’s probably just my imagination.”
That bitch Zhao Jin was absolutely doing this on purpose!
But how did Zhao Jin even know about her marriage to Jiang Xue? The answer was obvious.
Lin Yulan’s glare burned into Qu Mengxin.
Qu Mengxin guiltily averted Lin Yulan’s gaze, pretending ignorance as she turned to Jiang Xue, who was already drowning in humiliation. “President Zhao, it’s not your imagination. Jiang Xue and I were university classmates. People often said we looked about sixty percent alike, so jokes like this were common.”
“Oh? You were classmates?” Zhao Jin extended her hand toward Jiang Xue with feigned courtesy, though her eyes gleamed with amusement. “A pleasure to meet you, young madam. I’m Zhao Jin, Asa’s boss.”
Jiang Xue could tell this Alpha was deliberately trying to humiliate her further, so she didn’t hold back. “I don’t know who you are, nor do I care to. But I believe a truly polite person doesn’t need gestures to disguise themselves.”
Zhao Jin was stunned. She looked up at Jiang Xue in surprise. At first glance, this Omega’s face did resemble Qu Mengxin’s, but upon closer inspection, they were entirely different.
Now, Zhao Jin understood the difference Jiang Xue carried an innate air of nobility, and her eyes seemed to see right through everything.
It made Zhao Jin’s heart itch, as if a cat had lightly scratched it.
She withdrew her hand, awkwardly saying, “I apologize, that was inappropriate of me just now. I sincerely apologize to the young madam here.”
Qu Mengxin was clearly not very satisfied with Zhao Jin’s sudden change of attitude, nor could she quite grasp what this Alpha was thinking. But since Zhao Jin was now her boss, she couldn’t say much more.
However, when it came to Jiang Xue, Qu Mengxin still had her ways.
“Yulan, I truly never expected the person you married would be Jiang Xue. Is it because of me?”
The implication was clear you must still have feelings for me, which is why you married someone who resembles me.
How could Jiang Xue not understand the meaning behind Qu Mengxin’s words? She wished she could dig a hole and disappear right then and there, so she wouldn’t have to stand awkwardly like a fool any longer.
But the next second, Jiang Xue felt Lin Yulan gripping her hand. She tried to pull away, but Lin Yulan held on tightly.
Then she heard Lin Yulan say to Qu Mengxin with a smile, “Miss Asa, let me reintroduce you this is my beloved, Jiang Xue.”
