The Alpha’s Hidden Marriage, Public Obsession - Chapter 40
It was hard to hail a taxi near the Lin residence, so Jiang Xue had deliberately driven her own car this time. She hurried out with only one thought in mind, she wanted to leave this place and never return.
Yet just as she was about to open the car door and get in, Lin Yulan caught up and firmly grabbed her.
“Let go.”
“Jiang Xue, my mother has already investigated everything. There’s nothing between me and Ye Jing. Stay, let’s talk, okay?”
“Let. Go!”
“I won’t!”
Jiang Xue tried to shake her off, but an Alpha’s strength was overwhelming. The more she struggled, the tighter Lin Yulan’s grip became. She could only glare up at her fiercely. “I told you to let go!”
Lin Yulan wasn’t usually the type to be so shameless. Before the truth had been uncovered, guilt and remorse had held her back. But now that she knew everything had been Ye Jing’s scheme from the start, she could finally set aside some of that self-blame and face Jiang Xue properly.
“Xiaoxue, everything’s been cleared up now. Let’s go back and talk, okay?” Lin Yulan took a big step forward, pulling Jiang Xue into a tight embrace. “I was wrong, I really know I was wrong. Give me a chance, I promise I’ll change all the things I did badly. Don’t go, please.”
Her hold grew tighter, making it hard for Jiang Xue to breathe. But that was the least of her concerns. More than the suffocation, she was disgusted by Lin Yulan’s behavior.
Taking a deep breath, Jiang Xue mustered all her strength and shoved Lin Yulan away, finally breaking free.
Lin Yulan, caught off guard by the force, staggered back several steps, nearly falling. If not for the car beside her, she would have landed flat on her face.
“I told you to let go!” Jiang Xue panted, then continued coldly, “I never knew Young Miss Lin had such thick skin even the city walls must pale in comparison. I’ve made myself clear enough. If your hearing’s failing, I suggest you get it checked. Wouldn’t want to go deaf at such a young age.”
Lin Yulan steadied herself against the car before slowly stepping forward again. When she reached Jiang Xue, she whispered, “Xiaoxue, I—”
“Don’t call me that!”
Jiang Xue wanted to curse, but on second thought, it wasn’t worth it. She had already said enough anything more would just be a waste of time.
Besides, there was nothing left to say between her and Lin Yulan.
“Young Miss Lin, we’re both adults. Stop being so childish, will you? I’ve made myself perfectly clear. Whether there was anything between you and that Omega or not it has nothing to do with me!” Jiang Xue felt a suffocating weight in her chest, making it hard to speak. All she wanted was to go home, to be alone, to get away from Lin Yulan and the Lin family preferably forever, without ever encountering anything or anyone related to them again!
She had finally mustered the resolve to let go, to walk away from this mess. So why did Lin Yulan have to cling to her now?
Why?!
“Have you never heard the saying, Young Master Lin? Delayed affection is cheaper than grass!” Jiang Xue’s voice trembled as she spoke, “I’ve made myself clear enough everything about you has nothing to do with me anymore! Whoever is in your heart, whoever you like, whoever you choose to fool around with, I don’t want to hear any of it. It’s irrelevant to me. I’ve let myself go, and I’ve let you go. Can’t you just let me be? From now on, we go our separate ways. Marry whoever you want you’ve already gotten your wish, so why must you treat me like this?!”
“Lin Yulan, did I owe you something in my past life? I’ve had a crush on you for nearly seven years, only to end up with you saying, ‘You disgust me.’ Isn’t that punishment enough for me?! What more do you want from me?!”
The last words Jiang Xue roared out were almost choked with sobs, shaking Lin Yulan to her core, each syllable like sharp thorns piercing deep into her heart.
“Xiaoxue, you don’t owe me anything. It’s me who owes you. I want to make it up to you, I mean it. Xiaoxue, can you give me this chance?”
“Make it up to me?”
Jiang Xue laughed bitterly. “Lin Yulan, do you think everything in this world can be solved with money? Then again, money talks. If 10,000 yuan can’t fix it, try 100,000. If 100,000 won’t do, throw a million at it. After all, the Lin family has money to spare, right? But Lin Yulan, I don’t need your money. I can earn my own.”
“Since middle school, I haven’t taken a single cent from my parents. Every penny I spent on my education, I earned myself. My parents, they’ve always believed an Omega like me doesn’t need much schooling. By the time I turned 15, they’d already found me a ‘suitable match.’ From the moment I learned that, I swore I’d never rely on anyone else. No one is more dependable than myself. Just like now, I don’t need your money because I can earn just as much on my own. So if you think throwing money at things solves everything, how about I pay you? Can you give me back the time I wasted on you?”
“I’m not greedy. Just return the time from when we first met. Can you give that back to me?”
Time lost can never be reclaimed, no matter how much money is spent. Lin Yulan bit her lip, realizing how utterly wretched she had been. If time machines existed, she would go back and slap her past self hard.
“I’m sorry, Xiaoxue, I that’s not what I meant. I just wanted to.”
Lin Yulan took another step forward, but Jiang Xue immediately stopped her. “Stay where you are! Don’t come any closer!”
Jiang Xue felt she shouldn’t have come today. If she hadn’t, she could have pretended not to hear or see anything, sparing herself this torment. “Lin Yulan, do you know? I really regret it. If I had never fallen for you, perhaps I would have found an Alpha who truly loved me by now. We might have already walked down the aisle, and I wouldn’t be lying to myself that everything will be okay. So, I don’t want to continue like this anymore. Lin Yulan, let’s get a divorce. I’ll give you back to them, and you let me go. From now on, we’ll leave each other alone.”
“I won’t divorce you!” Lin Yulan lunged forward and wrapped her arms around Jiang Xue. “Xiaoxue, don’t be like this. Give me a chance, okay? I was a scoundrel before, worse than an animal. Tell me what I did wrong, and I’ll change everything, okay?!”
Jiang Xue was truly exhausted, both physically and emotionally. She had no strength left to push Lin Yulan away and could only let her hold her. “Lin Yulan, let me go. Don’t make me hate you.”
Lin Yulan didn’t want to let go but didn’t dare not to. Jiang Xue was already disillusioned with her, and if pushed to the brink, there would be no way to salvage things.
Reluctantly, she released her.
Jiang Xue, thinking she was finally free, let her guard down and turned to open the car door. But the moment she turned, Lin Yulan yanked her back, and in the next second, her lips were fiercely sealed by Lin Yulan’s.
Lin Yulan was forcing a kiss on her!
Jiang Xue’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at Lin Yulan’s face, now pressed impossibly close to hers. It took her a moment to fully process what was happening.
But in that brief moment of distraction, Lin Yulan had already invaded her mouth, her tongue probing deep, tangling and teasing relentlessly, claiming every inch as if to possess her entirely. Jiang Xue could barely breathe.
“Mmm…!!!” Jiang Xue’s hands flailed against Lin Yulan’s chest, desperate to push her away and end this unwanted kiss. But Lin Yulan gave her no chance, instead cupping the back of her head to deepen the kiss further.
“Mmmph…!”
Jiang Xue struggled, but Lin Yulan’s skill was overwhelming. Every movement, every flick of her tongue was impossible to resist, sending waves of weakness through Jiang Xue’s body.
She felt like a fish stranded on land, gasping for air, clinging to Lin Yulan as her only lifeline to survive.
No.
No.
She couldn’t let this happen!
She had finally mustered the resolve to end things she couldn’t let it all crumble now and repeat the same mistakes.
“Lin… Lin Yulan you, bastard!”
Jiang Xue fought with all her might, but an Alpha’s strength was too much. She couldn’t break free.
She considered biting Lin Yulan’s tongue but feared hurting her too badly. Instead, seizing the moment when Lin Yulan paused for breath, she bit down hard on her lower lip.
“Tch!”
Lin Yulan winced in pain as she released the person, licking her lips only to be met with the strong metallic taste of blood flooding her throat. She hadn’t expected Jiang Xue to bite down so hard.
But surprisingly, Jiang Xue hadn’t bitten her tongue was she worried she might actually sever it?
Jiang Xue was now wiping her mouth furiously, as if she had touched something filthy. She kept scrubbing for a long time, unsatisfied, only stopping when her lips were nearly raw.
Then she raised her head and glared daggers at Lin Yulan.
She truly hadn’t expected this person to be so shameless no, it was more like she had no shame at all!
“I… I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
Jiang Xue: “…” Didn’t mean to? So, it was deliberate, then!
She really wanted to kick Lin Yulan where it hurt most, but after some thought, she decided it wasn’t worth going to jail over someone this shameless. Gritting her teeth, she settled for slapping Lin Yulan across the face instead.
