The Alpha’s Breakup Scheme - Chapter 3
When she opened her eyes again, it was already the next day.
Jiang Shixue woke up to find herself in a strange bed. The room was vast—clearly, this was not her dormitory. Her head felt a bit foggy; she lifted a fair arm from beneath the duvet, clutching the blankets in a daze.
An Alpha’s rut usually lasts for several days. Jiang Shixue, however, was an unexpected special case—not a conventional rut—and she had regained her senses after only one day.
Wen Fei was no longer by her side.
After being kissed until she fainted, she had lost consciousness. Had Wen Fei actually brought her home like that?
As her “morning grumpiness” gradually faded, the events of yesterday became vivid in her mind. Jiang Shixue’s face turned completely red.
What on earth did I do?!
Jiang Shixue covered her face, bordering on a breakdown.
At that moment, her optical computer vibrated. It was Lin Yin. She had forwarded a pile of forum posts to Jiang Shixue, all of them related to her:
“SHOCKING! The new Principal was forcibly kissed by the Department Belle, and she didn’t get angry; instead…”
“Damn, the Department Belle dragged the ‘Inaccessible Flower’ off her pedestal! She succeeded!”
“The new Principal kissed back!! Mom, I’m in love!”
Seeing the mountain of forum posts made Jiang Shixue’s scalp tingle. Among the various gossip threads—aside from the expected “Department Belle kissed Principal” and “Principal kissed Department Belle”—there were actually posts Jiang Shixue hadn’t anticipated:
“A deep dive into the Belle x Principal saga: Did the Belle bite the Principal’s gland? Did the Principal carry the Belle bridal-style??”
Jiang Shixue: ? Jiang Shixue: What?! Is that even true? How can these people spread such rumors!
Thinking of the foolish things she did yesterday, the fact that she was forcefully kissed repeatedly by Wen Fei in front of everyone, and looking at these rumor-mongering gossip posts, a rare sense of aggrieved shame welled up in her heart.
In a fit of pique, she clicked on the “Deep Dive” post. She wanted to see exactly how this person was slandering her.
However, as soon as she entered the thread, the main post dropped a photo directly. In the image, Jiang Shixue was fainted in Wen Fei’s arms, and on Wen Fei’s snow-white neck, there was indeed a deep, swollen red ring of bite marks.
Jiang Shixue: !!!
Jiang Shixue was stunned. Did I… did I really bite a temporary mark into Wen Fei’s neck?
Her face flushed deep red, and the more she looked, the more dazed she became. According to the photo restoration on the forum, the events of yesterday were as follows:
When Jiang Shixue was dazed from Wen Fei’s kiss, under the influence of pheromones, her sharp canine teeth began to itch. Unconsciously, she bit a hard temporary mark into the back of Wen Fei’s neck. Afterward, once Jiang Shixue fainted, Wen Fei took off her white uniform jacket, wrapped Jiang Shixue in it, and carried her out in a bridal carry. Finally, Wen Fei tucked her into a shuttle and settled her in her own home.
Jiang Shixue scrolled through the forum in despair.
Both she and Wen Fei were already highly popular; the absurd events of yesterday had caused their heat to skyrocket. Some busybodies on the forum had even started “shipping” them and writing fanfiction.
Things like: “The cold, stiff jacket was mixed with the scent of clear pheromones, yet Jiang Shixue felt an indescribable warmth…”
Or: “Department Belle x Principal, a substitute for ‘Step-mother’ literature…”
And even: “A Beta who can’t mark others—even if she bites her wife’s gland until it’s ruined, she still feels insecure…”
Jiang Shixue could hardly look!
However, this wasn’t what worried her most. Her greatest concern was whether the pheromones she leaked yesterday would expose her identity as an Alpha. If she were discovered, how much longer could she use this fake identity?
Jiang Shixue mentally prepared eight hundred different solutions, but after browsing many posts, she found no discussion regarding her Alpha status. She went to the forum homepage and searched the keyword “Alpha.” Sure enough, there were no discussions related to her.
Opening her optical computer, she sent a message to Lin Yin in confusion:
[Lin Yin, did anyone realize I’m actually an Alpha?]
Lin Yin replied almost instantly:
[You’re finally awake!]
Then, after a pause of a few seconds, Lin Yin followed up:
[I don’t think so. At the time, Wen Fei’s pheromones were practically overwhelming; others probably couldn’t smell your scent at all.]
[Her pheromones completely covered yours.]
[How are you now? Is your body feeling better?]
Seeing Lin Yin’s message, Jiang Shixue felt a wave of relief. If Wen Fei’s pheromones had masked her own, then her Alpha identity hadn’t been exposed. Since she wasn’t found out, she could still live a quiet, peaceful life on this planet with her current identity.
Still, a doubt lingered in her mind. Was Wen Fei covering for her on purpose? How much did Wen Fei know about her? And why would she do such a thing?
Lying on the soft bed, Jiang Shixue fell into deep thought. It had to be said, Wen Fei’s home was very comfortable. Soft bedding, exquisite decorations, lush green plants in the corners, and a faint scent of incense lingering in the air. Outside the window was a magnificent, vast sea of clouds; the sunlight splashed over the cloud layers in a brilliant golden-pink. Everything exuded peace and beauty.
Jiang Shixue poked her head out to look toward the ground. Mm, very high. Wen Fei must have set up her home on a floating island. She certainly knew how to enjoy life.
However, although the room was well-decorated, it felt inexplicably empty. There were no traces of daily life, no “human” touch, and… it didn’t feel like a home.
Jiang Shixue retracted her gaze. On the nightstand sat a fruit plate, and beside it was a paring knife. It was small and exquisite, but the blade gleamed brightly. Jiang Shixue picked it up to toy with it, holding the small knife before her eyes.
The surface of the blade was very clean. The cold, white luster reflected her somewhat pale face and pale gold hair. Jiang Shixue stared at the reflection for a long time.
Wen Fei was terrifying. Coming from the military, she was iron-fisted and decisive in her killings. Many people were indeed afraid of her.
But Jiang Shixue was not.
Thinking of a certain event from the past, Jiang Shixue’s eyes dimmed. Her thick, slender eyelashes cast faint shadows over her eyes. Since that event, Jiang Shixue had become a different person. She didn’t know what the point of living was. Or rather, she didn’t particularly want to be alive. What connection did she have to this world? She was all alone. What was the point of living so earnestly?
She was somewhat weary of the world. She knew clearly that she was developing an unhealthy, nihilistic mindset.
Jiang Shixue smiled. A person who isn’t even afraid of death won’t find another human being particularly scary. If Wen Fei wanted to kill her—this “lecher” who forcibly kissed someone—then… that wouldn’t be so bad. As the saying goes, “To die under a peony flower is to be a romantic even as a ghost.” Perhaps she would even “live on for a thousand years” in the mouths of others because of it.
Jiang Shixue pressed the flat of the blade against her skin. The cold, sharp sensation made her heart feel a bit lighter. Usually, at times like this, she would imagine what it would be like if the sharp tip pierced her heart. Would it be a sharp pain, or a numb flow of blood? She didn’t know the taste of it.
But now, Jiang Shixue suddenly remembered the sensation of Wen Fei’s moist, warm lips from yesterday. The descriptions from the fanfiction on the forum lingered in her mind—the cold jacket mixed with clear pheromones that only made one feel an indescribable warmth…
In a daze, Jiang Shixue recalled that before she fainted yesterday, Wen Fei’s arm muscles had been tense as she pulled her by the waist, circling her in an irresistible stance…
As she thought of the details, Jiang Shixue’s face flushed red with shame again, and she buried herself indignantly under the covers.
…
“Knock, knock, knock—”
A knock sounded at the door. Jiang Shixue remained silent. Hearing no response, Wen Fei pushed the door open and entered.
She was wearing soft loungewear, and the tips of her hair were slightly damp; she must have just showered. Her soft, mid-length hair fell over her shoulders, making her look less cold and harsh, adding a touch of tenderness.
Wen Fei placed a glass of honey water on Jiang Shixue’s nightstand. Seeing that the girl didn’t react, she reached out to pat the duvet.
“Are you awake?”
Jiang Shixue stayed muffled under the blankets, saying nothing.
Wen Fei, somewhat helpless, reached out to lift the covers. Her voice was very soft: “Let ‘Sister’ see if your forehead is still hot.”
Jiang Shixue gripped the blankets tightly, refusing to let her pull them away. Wen Fei didn’t hold back her strength, but even then, she surprisingly couldn’t pull them off.
…
The infamously formidable Principal Wen could only gently pat the duvet. She lowered her voice, patiently and softly calling to Jiang Shixue: “You were caught in the rain and have a bit of a fever. Get up and take some medicine.”
Jiang Shixue still said nothing, shrinking into the blankets without moving an inch. Wen Fei spent a good while coaxing and persuading her with both gentle words and patience, but Jiang Shixue simply wouldn’t make a sound.
Wen Fei stood up, looking at the tightly wrapped mound of blankets—the hidden head and the little feet peeking out like a “hiding-its-head-but-showing-its-tail” ostrich. She was amused to the point of exasperation.
Wen Fei frowned. When she wasn’t deliberately coaxing someone, her deep, magnetic voice sounded quite stern: “Little friend, may I ask what you are throwing a tantrum for?”
“Don’t tell me you want to taste the belt before you taste the medicine.”
Soft tenderness was indeed like a spring breeze, but a stern reprimand had its own unique flavor. Jiang Shixue’s heart tightened. When she was sick in the past, that sister used to coax and scold her into taking medicine in just the same way. The way this person acted when she was being stern was just too similar to her sister…
Jiang Shixue bit her lip. Somewhat aggrieved, she poked her small head out from the blankets. Her eyes were moist, and her face was flushed a pale pink like a ripening peach. She stared straight at Wen Fei, her gaze full of accusation.
Wen Fei chuckled helplessly and shook her head slightly. She gently patted Jiang Shixue’s back and coaxed again: “Be good. Drink some honey water first, okay?”
The rim of the glass pressed against Jiang Shixue’s lips, attempting to pry open her tightly pressed mouth, but Jiang Shixue turned her head to avoid it.
Wen Fei looked at her. The moisture in the girl’s eyes began to gather into mist. Jiang Shixue said, “You went too far!”
Wen Fei smiled. The victim of a brazen forced kiss hadn’t even expressed grievance yet, but the perpetrator of the kiss was acting as if she were the one being bullied, acting spoiled and aggrieved instead.
Jiang Shixue was being truly unreasonable.
Wen Fei, however, wasn’t angry. Her temper was unusually good when it came to Jiang Shixue. She only let out a half-smiling, questioning sound: “Hmm?”
Being looked at like that made Jiang Shixue even more ashamed and indignant. The corners of her eyes drooped, her voice trembled, and her pitiful, aggrieved appearance was truly endearing:
“How could you… stick out your tongue?!”
