- The Aloof Little Puppy Is Super Obedient
- Chapter 2 - It’s Been a Long Time, Where Did I Fall Short?
Chen Xiaoran, sitting nearby, let out a helpless sigh. Chu Jingtian looked at Chen Xiaoran with a dazed expression, his heart filled with deep confusion.
“I don’t know where I fell short for him all these years. I always maintained the image of a virtuous partner and a good spouse, thinking I could earn his affection. I never expected it was all just my one-sided wish.”
Chu Jingtian wasn’t actually that heartbroken; he simply felt that his years of persistence were somewhat laughable. He had spent so long grieving for such a ridiculous romance, believing that if he just played the part perfectly, that man would eventually give him a second glance.
Seeing him like this, Chen Xiaoran sighed again.
“And you say you’ve let go? If you had truly moved on from this relationship, how could you still be crying now?”
If someone had truly moved on, they wouldn’t be hiding in a corner, weeping in silence.
Chu Jingtian took a tissue from his pocket to wipe away his tears. After a brief word with Chen Xiaoran, he headed into the restroom.
The reason he had been crying just now wasn’t for anything else, but because of one small realization. He was mourning his years of hard work; why did it have to end like this? He used to believe that as long as you loved someone and bravely confessed, you could win their heart in return.
In the end, it was all his own delusion. He was nothing more than a clown.
As these thoughts swirled, a wave of pain hit his heart, and he slowly crouched down.
He hadn’t been crying for long when the voice of a drunkard came from the doorway. When he looked up, the drunk man walked straight over, pulled him up, and stared at him with greasy, lustful eyes. The man’s beer belly pressed against Chu Jingtian’s waist, making him frown with discomfort.
He tried to break away, but for some reason, he couldn’t. The man held his hand firmly.
The drunk man smiled upon seeing him. “Little boyfriend, do you want to have a fling with uncle?”
Chu Jingtian’s face darkened as he quickly tried to wrench his hand free. He was just there to use the restroom, not to get tangled up with this man. He wanted to pull away as fast as possible.
But as he tried to withdraw, the man’s grip only tightened. Feeling trapped, Chu Jingtian couldn’t help but shout for help.
However, there were very few people in the restroom, and even if he yelled, the music from outside drowned out his voice. Just as he was beginning to feel desperate, a man appeared at the door. He walked quickly over and knocked the greasy man to the ground.
Chu Jingtian took the opportunity to run toward the door. He watched as the man who had just rushed in pinned the harasser to the floor. The greasy man, sensing trouble, tried to flee, but the newcomer grabbed him and delivered a few more blows before finally letting him scramble away.
As Chu Jingtian watched the man help him, he slowly approached and bowed.
“Thank you.” Chu Jingtian was truly grateful. Given the situation, if this man hadn’t appeared, things would have definitely ended badly for him.
“No need for thanks, Brother Jingtian.” The man’s voice was low and raspy.
Chu Jingtian found the voice familiar. He looked up to find an exquisite face. The man had almond eyes with a hint of emerald green, and his hair was black with a touch of gold. He was dressed in a “sunny big boy” hoodie. Looking at the outfit and then the face, Chu Jingtian stared at him in pleasant surprise.
“Su Jingyang?” Chu Jingtian was genuinely shocked.
The man smiled. “Yes, Brother Jingtian. It’s been a long time.”
The moment he looked at Chu Jingtian, the tenderness in his eyes was impossible to hide.
Seeing Su Jingyang, Chu Jingtian quickly took his hand and led him back to the bar counter. As they walked, he looked at Su Jingyang with confusion.
“Jingyang, why are you suddenly back in the country? I thought you were still studying abroad.”
Chu Jingtian was truly puzzled. A few years ago, right when he was marrying Zhou Nian, Su Jingyang had informed him about going abroad to study. At that time, Chu Jingtian had been so consumed with his wedding that he didn’t have the heart to see Su Jingyang off.
He had missed the final meeting with this “little brother” from next door before his departure. Thinking back on how he gave up that farewell for a laughable romance, he felt it was truly ridiculous. If he could choose again, he would never have picked that hollow relationship.
Su Jingyang kept a constant smile on his face.
“I came back a few days ago, but there were things to handle at home, so I didn’t have a chance to find you, Brother Jingtian. I happened to be at this bar today to handle some business; I didn’t expect to run into you.” As Su Jingyang spoke, his eyes never left Chu Jingtian.
Chu Jingtian smiled and patted Su Jingyang on the shoulder.
“Haha, so you’ve been back for a while! Why didn’t you send me a text? I should have hosted a welcome dinner for you.”
Chu Jingtian spoke with the regrets of years past. Seeing this younger brother return, he felt a sense of helplessness. The regrets of the past were like indelible scars from his youth. Thinking about it made him feel a bit uneasy.
Su Jingyang seemed to notice and slowly comforted Chu Jingtian as they reached the bar. Chen Xiaoran, who was still drinking, noticed Su Jingyang and beamed.
“Oh! If it isn’t our great talent, Su Jingyang!” Chen Xiaoran couldn’t hide her shock.
Years ago, because of Chu Jingtian’s wedding, they had missed this little brother’s farewell. Thinking of that, she sighed, but she was genuinely happy to see him back now.
Su Jingyang had been an excellent student since he was young. On his eighteenth birthday, he was accepted into a famous university abroad. At the time, he had been very hesitant about whether to go, but for some reason, he finally decided to leave. None of them knew what had driven his choice, but they knew it was a good opportunity.
The three of them sat at the bar and began to chat about the past. By the end of it, Su Jingyang was the only one who hadn’t been drinking. Since Chen Xiaoran had already coordinated with her boyfriend, she left with him.
Originally, Chen Xiaoran wanted to take Chu Jingtian with her, but since the “little brother” was there, the task of taking Chu Jingtian home fell to Su Jingyang.
By now, Chu Jingtian was a bit tipsy. As he leaned against Su Jingyang, his face showed only exhaustion. Once they got into the car, he finally threw up. He vomited directly inside Su Jingyang’s car.
Su Jingyang looked at him and gave a helpless smile. Fortunately, the car seats had mats; he quickly removed the soiled one and tossed it aside. He helped Chu Jingtian out of the car to finish vomiting, gave him some water to rinse his mouth, and then settled him into the passenger seat.
Only after everything was cleaned up did Su Jingyang breathe a sigh of relief.
Seeing how much Chu Jingtian’s face had matured over the years, Su Jingyang felt a surge of emotion. Seeing his “brother” again after all this time made him feel both excited and heartbroken.
When he had just turned eighteen, he wanted to confess to him, only to hear the news that he was marrying someone else. That news had been like a bolt from the blue, leaving his heart heavy like a dark cloud.
He wondered how Chu Jingtian’s relationship with that man was doing. Just as he was thinking, Chu Jingtian spoke up.
“Sob! Scumbag, sob. ” Chu Jingtian’s hands clenched tightly.
Noticing Su Jingyang beside him, he punched him in the shoulder. Su Jingyang, who worked out, didn’t feel much pain from the punch, but his brow furrowed.
Scumbag? Hearing those words, Su Jingyang looked at Chu Jingtian in disbelief. When he left, Chu Jingtian had looked so happy and full of smiles. He never expected their relationship to fall apart so quickly in just a few years.
While he was processing this, Chu Jingtian suddenly climbed onto Su Jingyang. He moved closer to Su Jingyang’s lips and kissed him.
Su Jingyang, who hadn’t been paying attention, felt his heart begin to pound violently as he felt Chu Jingtian’s lips on his.
