The Aloof Little Puppy Is Super Obedient - Chapter 1
“Zhou Nian, let’s get a divorce.” When Chu Jingtian spat out these words, there wasn’t a trace of emotion in his voice.
As he spoke, the eyes that once held the flicker of a secret crush were now void of feeling. Through all these years of marriage, his emotions had long since been worn down to nothing. Thinking back on the stories that had unfolded over the years, he pressed his lips into a tight, thin line.
Zhou Nian, who had just taken off his suit jacket, frowned upon hearing this. He looked at him with a sense of disbelief; he had never expected Chu Jingtian to say such a thing.
“What did you say?” Confusion clouded Zhou Nian’s exquisite phoenix eyes. His own lips thinned, as if he had just heard something utterly impossible.
In all their years of marriage, Chu Jingtian had been the one stubbornly insisting they never divorce. Every time Zhou Nian had tormented him, Chu Jingtian had refused to let go.
Chu Jingtian took a dull sip of the tea in his hand and set the cup aside. He was beyond disappointed; his face remained expressionless, like a marionette. Slowly, he picked up the divorce agreement from the table and handed it to Zhou Nian, a faint smile gracing his lips.
“As you wished.” Chu Jingtian pressed the papers firmly into Zhou Nian’s hand.
“I’ve realized that throughout these years of entanglement, I have been the one dragging you down and affecting your life. I understand now.”
Yes, he finally understood. He would no longer pester Zhou Nian. Thinking back on how he had clung to him for so many years, Chu Jingtian felt only bitterness in his heart. The best ending for them was to let go of each other and stop the mutual torture.
Watching Chu Jingtian’s retreating back, Zhou Nian stepped forward quickly. He reached out, grabbed Chu Jingtian’s wrist, and pulled him into his embrace; his eyes were cold.
Held against Zhou Nian, Chu Jingtian could clearly feel the man’s hard abdominal muscles. But now, he had no desire for fantasies. He looked at Zhou Nian with a hint of confusion.
“What else do you want to do now?” Chu Jingtian struggled, but he had no strength.
The gap in their physical strength was inherently massive; trying to break free from this man’s grip was proving difficult.
“You’re suddenly letting go today. Are you playing hard to get with me again?”
Zhou Nian let out a cold laugh. In the past, Chu Jingtian had used such laughable tactics. Was he using them again now, making him agree to a divorce only to pull some other scheme later? At the thought of those ridiculous tricks, Zhou Nian only sneered.
Suddenly finding a burst of strength, Chu Jingtian yanked his hand away and pushed Zhou Nian back.
“Zhou Nian, this time I am truly letting go. I have already signed my name on the divorce agreement. If you don’t believe me, then just wait. Tomorrow I will go to the Civil Affairs Bureau with you to collect the divorce certificate.”
Heh, his years of pathetic behavior had become a fixed stereotype in this man’s mind. A secret crush of so many years had finally come to an end.
Hearing him speak with such finality, Zhou Nian looked closely at the divorce agreement and realized it was different from the ones he had prepared before. This time, the words “Leaving with Nothing” were written clearly. Seeing those four words, his brow furrowed involuntarily.
“You don’t want any money?”
“When I first married you, it was because I liked you, not because I was after your wealth. Now that I am leaving, I want to go as clean as I came.”
Chu Jingtian gave a polite, hollow smile, then walked upstairs without glancing back at Zhou Nian.
Watching Chu Jingtian leave, Zhou Nian felt a sudden pang of loss. For reasons he couldn’t name, his mood turned somber, as if he had lost something vital. However, he slowly suppressed the strange emotion, refusing to dwell on such messy thoughts.
Chu Jingtian walked quickly into his room, slumped into a corner, and let the tears fall.
Letting go of so many years of affection was still painful. But years of cold indifference had left him utterly hopeless. Having accepted so much disappointment over the years, why was he still worrying about these messy feelings? When it is time to let go, one should do it properly. He should not let himself be consumed by gloom over this.
During those years, he had used every means possible to get close to Zhou Nian, yet Zhou Nian had never touched him once.
It was just as he said at the start: he came with nothing, and he would leave with nothing. Life was exactly like this, full of joys, sorrows, partings, and reunions.
Meise Bar
Chu Jingtian sat at the bar counter, holding a glass. Looking at the beer inside, he couldn’t stop his tears from falling again. At this moment, he could only hide here, drinking slowly to ease his frustration.
For all these years, he had endured everything to be a “virtuous partner,” thinking his persistence would eventually yield a good result. He never imagined it was all just his “wishful thinking” and that he was “reaping what he sowed.”
Thinking of these things, Chu Jingtian looked at the glass before him, feeling even more lost.
The person sitting next to him reached out and gently patted his back, letting out a helpless sigh.
“Alright, since you’ve chosen to let go, stop thinking about it.”
“Your life is also splendid. These sad things will pass. Just as you once loved him, if you could fall for him, you can give him up, too.”
