The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 9
A Date
Shi Rui’s face instantly turned crimson. She didn’t even dare send the message she was halfway through editing; instead, she hurriedly waved her hands in denial. “No, no, we’re not dating.”
“If you aren’t dating, why are you reporting your every move so diligently? You have to learn the art of ‘push and pull,’ you know?” Ming Qing began lecturing again on her grand philosophy of love.
Shi Rui continued chewing her food while listening with rapt attention, her eyes sparkling. She was currently studying under “Teacher Ming” on how to “entangle” a dragon.
At 4:30 PM, Luo Xiao finished her shoot and hurried out. She had a 6:00 PM flight to catch; fortunately, the airport was only twenty minutes away by subway.
Qi Ran handed her the phone, faking a look of disgust as she picked at her ear. “Your phone hasn’t stopped ringing. This hasn’t happened once in all these years—it’s actually starting to annoy me.”
Luo Xiao’s private WeChat rarely received messages. Sometimes it would stay silent for an entire month. As Qi Ran noted, this situation was indeed a first.
She quickly took the phone and opened it. She saw that the “Little Bunny” had been obediently reporting her daily activities just like the previous days. Even without a response, the girl didn’t seem discouraged; she continued to happily share her lunch and ask if Luo Xiao had eaten.
Looking at those messages, Luo Xiao felt the heart in her chest soften. However, a mood-spoiling voice drifted over from beside her: “Are you really taking the subway? I’m afraid you’ll be recognized.”
It would indeed be troublesome if that happened, but Luo Xiao had already made up her mind. She replied flatly, “I’ll be very careful.”
Only by doing this could she make it back before the 11:00 PM curfew.
To see the Little Bunny.
As evening fell, Shi Rui took an early shower and washed her hair. Once it was dry, she sprawled on her bed, happily watching TV while waiting for Rong An to bring back dinner.
She didn’t plan on going out again. Her plan was to rest a bit after eating and then head to bed; after all, she had an 8:00 AM class tomorrow and was worried she wouldn’t be able to wake up if she stayed up too late.
He Qianqian had gone to her club’s freshman welcoming party. Ming Qing was still fast asleep in bed, and by the sounds of it, she had no intention of waking up.
A moment later, Rong An pushed open the dormitory door carrying three portions of food. Shi Rui immediately jumped up to greet her, cheering, “Thanks, Rongrong! You’re the best, mwah~”
Rong An smiled and said it was no trouble. She placed Ming Qing’s portion on the communal table, then sat down with Shi Rui to focus on their meal.
Ming Qing’s bedroom door wasn’t fully closed, and the aroma of the food wafted inside. She stumbled out groatily, leaning against the doorframe. “Are you guys eating?”
“Yeah, come eat! I brought your favorite green grass dumplings,” Rong An said.
Shi Rui finished every drop of her soup. After wiping her mouth, she immediately began tidying the table, then eagerly opened Ming Qing’s meal, neatly setting out the chopsticks and spoon.
“Come eat, Qingqing.”
Ming Qing sat down, her brain still foggy from sleep. Looking at the two little bunnies before her, her heart melted completely. As she ate, she vowed, “I’m going to marry both of you.”
The little bunnies were just too sweet.
“You’ve slept yourself stupid,” Rong An teased. “I don’t want you.” She finished tidying her side and headed back to her own room.
Shi Rui remained standing to the side, holding her phone to watch a variety show. She liked to stand for a while after eating to help with digestion.
Seeing this, Ming Qing asked mid-bite, “Did the Big Sister reply to your messages yet?”
“Not yet,” Shi Rui replied casually, though it wasn’t hard to detect a hint of disappointment in her voice.
Ming Qing thought for a moment and comforted her. “She’s probably filming back-to-back and doesn’t have her phone on her. She’ll reply when she’s finished and sees them.”
“Mhm,” Shi Rui nodded, saying nothing more.
At 8:30 PM, He Qianqian finally returned from the welcoming party. Shi Rui, already in her pajamas, was about to crawl into her “burrow” when she reflexively asked if the party was fun.
He Qianqian said it was pretty good and everyone was very enthusiastic. Then she looked at Shi Rui. “Bunny, are you going to sleep already?”
Shi Rui nodded. “Yeah, I want to sleep early. I’m afraid I won’t wake up tomorrow.”
“But it’s way too early for that.” Ming Qing, who was now bursting with energy after her afternoon nap, was busy “shipping” couples on her phone. She chimed in after hearing Shi Rui.
Shi Rui neatly lined up her slippers at the foot of the bed and whispered back, “I’m not sleeping right now. I’m going to play on my phone in bed for a bit.”
Sleeping at 9:30 PM would be just right.
Just as the words left her mouth, her phone rang with a voice call notification. She froze, her mind racing to think who would be calling her. Her family and friends usually did video calls; she couldn’t think of anyone who would just use voice.
Stopping the guesswork, Shi Rui turned and climbed onto her bed to retrieve the vibrating phone from under her pillow. With just one glance, her heart rate spiked, thumping as if it wanted to leap out of her chest.
Unable to overthink it, she clutched the phone and shouted to the room, “The Big Sister is calling me!”
All the various noises in the dorm stopped instantly. Ming Qing reacted the fastest, urging, “Answer it, quick!”
Shi Rui was so excited her face turned red. Her fingers trembled slightly as she pressed the answer button. Then, she stammered, “H-h… hello?”
“It’s me, Luo Xiao.”
The voice on the other end stated her purpose succinctly. “Are you asleep? Is it convenient for you to come downstairs? I’m at your dormitory building.”
“Eh? Is something wrong, Sister?” Shi Rui asked curiously.
Downstairs, Luo Xiao leaned her head against the passenger seat headrest, gently rubbing her temples. She was clearly exhausted, yet she forced herself to stay alert, her voice carrying a hint of a smile as she replied: “Didn’t you say last night that you wanted to ask me out to play?”
The Little Bunny didn’t understand the meaning of those words for a moment.
Luo Xiao’s car was parked under a streetlight, her expression flickering between light and shadow. Her long fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel, her tone carrying a trace of deliberately suppressed joy and palpitation.
Trying to sound calm, she said, “Little Bunny, I’m back.”
Shi Rui froze, looked down to tug at her pajamas, and upon realizing the situation, immediately sprang up to change. She shouted back into the phone: “No! I’m not asleep! Who goes to sleep this early? I’ll be down in a second, Sister!”
Having no time to change, she simply threw on a sleeveless dress, grabbed her phone, and prepared to bolt, only to be yanked back by the collar by Ming Qing.
“Qingqing… mmmph.”
The moment she opened her mouth, Ming Qing stuffed something inside. Her first instinct was to push it out with her tongue.
Holding her firm, Ming Qing was quick to cover her mouth, saying with cold ruthlessness, “Don’t spit it out. This is your ‘dating ultimate weapon’.”
Hearing this, Shi Rui quieted down. She tentatively licked the object with her tongue and gave it a gentle squeeze—it popped instantly.
!
A popping boba?
Grape flavored.
Realizing the implication, Shi Rui’s face turned scorching red. She shoved Ming Qing away, so embarrassed that her ears practically popped out. She covered her eyes and turned to run.
Rong Rong followed behind, calling out like a worried mother, “Come back early!”
“Okay—”
The Little Bunny’s voice faded into the distance.
In the same spot as last night sat the same small green car. The moment Shi Rui stepped out of the dormitory, she spotted it.
Since there were still many people out at this hour, it wasn’t convenient for Luo Xiao to get out. She simply started the engine and gave a light tap on the horn as Shi Rui approached.
Shi Rui hesitated for a moment before gathering her courage to pull open the passenger door and slide inside.
Luo Xiao had managed to find time to change her clothes and touch up her makeup after returning from the capital. Tonight, she wore a blue tube-top mini dress; the hem flared out like a mermaid’s tail, shimmering with iridescent light. A tassel ear-cuff hung from her left ear, brushing against her collarbone and swaying gently with her every move.
“Sister.” Shi Rui was dazed the moment she got in.
So beautiful.
“Where do you want to go play?” Luo Xiao spoke while the girl was still staring.
“Anywhere is fine.” Shi Rui lowered her head and smiled, her cheeks flushed.
Luo Xiao turned, her gaze softening as she looked at her. Suddenly, she asked, “It’s already dark. Aren’t you afraid to come out just because I called you?”
Shi Rui instinctively replied loudly, “I’m not afraid.”
“Why?” Luo Xiao’s eyes darkened as she pressed further.
“Huh?” Shi Rui looked up sharply, staring at her in a daze.
Inside the cramped cabin of the car, their senses seemed to converge; even their breathing felt hotter than usual.
Luo Xiao didn’t speak. Instead, she leaned over, her jade-white arm crossing in front of Shi Rui. She looked at her with a hint of aggression. “Why?”
Shi Rui wanted to retreat but found there was nowhere to go. Looking at the person in front of her, she felt as if Luo Xiao’s body heat had taken on a physical shape, winding around her in the confined space like silk threads. They wrapped around her neck, tightening inch by inch, forcing her face to turn red and making it hard to breathe.
Shi Rui’s heart raced, and her fingertips began to go numb. Powerless to resist, she could only lower her eyes to hide her emotions and then—very quietly and deeply—
She took a breath.
What filled her lungs wasn’t life-giving air, but the faint scent lingering on the older woman—a fresh, pure sea-salt fragrance. It was like walking along the coast, enveloped in a moist, slightly salty mist. Curiously, it calmed her down.
“Little Bunny.”
Luo Xiao’s throat moved as she called her name. She slowly moved a step closer, her gaze dropping bit by bit until it rested on those pink, moist lips. She stared at them bluntly, making no effort to hide the overwhelming desire in her eyes.
Shi Rui understood that look. Her face reddened instantly, and her just-calmed heart began to surge with waves again. Her hands clenched into fists on her lap, trembling with nerves as she whispered, “Sister.”
The scent of the popping boba was faint and fading fast; one had to be very close to smell it.
Luo Xiao’s breath hitched for a moment. Suddenly, the corners of her mouth curled up. “Did you eat grapes?”
“No,” Shi Rui replied obediently, her face crimson. “It was popping boba.”
Popping boba…
Luo Xiao said nothing, only letting out a low chuckle as she leaned further forward.
Shi Rui was so nervous she squeezed her eyes shut and tightened her fists, only to hear—
Click. The seatbelt buckled into place.
Dim, warm light from outside filtered through the windshield, casting scattered shadows that mirrored their hidden thoughts.
Luo Xiao sat back in the driver’s seat, resuming her elegant and aloof composure. She stared straight ahead, started the car, and said calmly, “Where do you want to go, Little Bunny?”
It took a long time for Shi Rui to recover. Her hands gripped the seatbelt across her chest, her awkwardness palpable, though there was a trace of undetectable disappointment in her eyes.
She kept her head down, not caring where the car was headed. She simply greedily inhaled the scent unique to the woman beside her. “Anywhere is fine. Wherever Sister goes, I’ll go.”
“Anywhere?” Luo Xiao turned to look at her.
Shi Rui closed her eyes and gave a firm “Mhm.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, the car pulled out of the school gates and merged into traffic. The speed picked up instantly, pulling her heart into the sky before letting it drop heavily back into her chest.
When the wheels finally stopped turning, Luo Xiao unbuckled her seatbelt. “We’re here.”
Shi Rui turned to look out the window. Before her, a five-star hotel glittered with piercing lights.
Luo Xiao walked around to the passenger side and opened the door. She leaned down to look at her, a smile playing on her lips.
“Get out of the car.”
