The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 5
“Sister, I’m so happy today.”
September 10th. Weather: Light rain turning to sunny.
The freshman military training at S University was drawing to a close. School leaders and the chief instructor stood on the stage delivering impassioned speeches before officially announcing the start of the military drill. This was the largest gathering of the current freshmen class, with everyone shedding sweat together on the grassy field.
Suddenly, the hostess, dressed in a beautiful dress, stepped out. She raised her microphone and announced excitedly, “Leaders, instructors, and students, today we welcome a special guest—Ms. Luo Xiao. Let us welcome her with a warm round of applause…”
Before the hostess could even finish, a piercing roar erupted from the playground, with the loudest cheers coming from the Omega phalanx.
Shi Rui was so nervous she forgot to breathe, staring unblinkingly at the rostrum across from her.
Unfortunately, their position was too far away. Faces were a blur, and she could only vaguely see Luo Xiao wearing a form-fitting peacock-green maxi dress. As she walked, the fabric rippled like lake water in a spring breeze. Her long black hair was straight, and her skin was so pale it seemed to glow.
Other than that, she didn’t seem to be wearing any other accessories; the entire look was clean and refreshing.
Although she couldn’t see very clearly, Shi Rui was already satisfied just to catch a glimpse from afar.
Luo Xiao, with her hair meticulously groomed down to every strand and wearing a dress that best accentuated her figure, took her seat. She searched through the dense crowd with an expressionless face.
A minute later, she finally found the “little bunny” in an inconspicuous corner. The girl’s face was flushed red from the heat, and she was staring blankly toward the stage. Unconsciously, the corners of Luo Xiao’s mouth curled upward.
The hostess smiled happily and waited for the cheers below to gradually subside before continuing: “Ms. Luo Xiao has established first, second, third, and excellence prizes for this military training. The winning teams will receive prizes personally presented by Ms. Luo Xiao.”
Shi Rui felt a bit anxious. She secretly tugged on Ming Qing’s hand and whispered, “What if I trip or lose my rhythm when we pass the rostrum later?”
“It’s okay, losing your rhythm doesn’t matter,” Ming Qing teased. “Just as long as you don’t start hopping.”
Shi Rui frowned and muttered, “Qingqing, you’re mean.”
“Oh, I’m mean? But ‘Sister’ is good, right? Come on, tell me—what did you and ‘Sister’ talk about last night after we left?”
A “yellow-hearted little lamb” was currently teasing a “pink-and-white bunny.”
Shi Rui didn’t dare let her rabbit ears pop out for fear of knocking her cap off. She could only endure her human ears turning bright red as she glared at Ming Qing, saying, “Stop teasing me!”
Otherwise, she really might not be able to resist hopping past the rostrum.
“Stop talking, babies. The Alpha phalanx in front is almost finished; it’s almost your turn. If you want a close encounter with Luo Xiao, you have to work hard,” the Fox Instructor reminded them warmly. Shi Rui and Ming Qing immediately shut their mouths.
“Next, marching toward us is the Omega Second Team. Their slogan is…”
As the hostess’s voice rang out, the Fox Instructor immediately gestured for them to move onto the track to prepare. “Quick, attention! Stand at ease! Attention! Mark time, march…”
A short while later, the Second Team finished. The hostess’s voice came through the giant speakers again, making hearts flutter with every vibration.
“Next to enter the field is the Omega Third Team…”
Hearing the name of the Third Team from above, Shi Rui immediately tensed her small face, proudly puffed out her chest, and followed the Fox Instructor’s “One-Two-One” rhythmic commands. She looked absolutely spirited.
It was just that the little heart inside her chest was beating a bit too fast.
After the drill ended, it was time for the tense and exciting scoring phase. The hostess first announced the final score for the Second Team: “9.85 points.”
Then she said, “Please cast your scores for the Omega Third Team.”
Shi Rui kept a very serious face, looking quite calm, but in reality, she was so nervous her palms were sweating.
“9 points, 9.5 points, 8.9 points, 9.2 points… 10 points!”
“Holy crap!” A small commotion broke out in the crowd.
Luo Xiao sat there expressionlessly, holding up a sign with a “10,” her gaze fixed steadily on one spot.
Shi Rui suddenly felt their eyes meet and immediately looked away in a flustered, shy panic. Beside her, Ming Qing was stunned. After a long while, she muttered to herself, “Holy crap, does she not know that the highest score gets discarded?”
“She wouldn’t,” Shi Rui instinctively defended her, drawing quiet laughter from the students nearby. One classmate asked back, “Ming Qing, aren’t you a loyal fan of ‘Sister’? Why are you questioning her?”
“You don’t understand; this is just how us veteran fans are,” Ming Qing said proudly. Just then, the next phalanx finished their march, and the hostess was announcing the Third Team’s final score: “9.30 points.”
This was a solid score, enough to snag a third-place prize.
Ming Qing gave Shi Rui a meaningful look, which made Shi Rui get excited as well.
When the drill finally ended, the Third Team’s shaky grasp on the third-place prize eventually slipped away, and they ended up with an “Excellence Award.” But that was still good—the Excellence Award prize was 500 yuan in cash for every person.
The first prize went to the Beta First Team (laptops), second prize went to the Omega Second Team (phones), and third prize went to the Alpha Fifth Team (Polaroid cameras).
Everyone else received Excellence Awards, meaning the “worst” anyone did for participating in this military training was 500 yuan.
Rong An calculated happily, whispering, “The money I spent on snacks last night is back.”
The hostess had mentioned that Luo Xiao would personally present the awards. The teams in the top three categories debated for a long time but couldn’t decide on the right person to go up. In the end, they decided the instructors would collect them. Luo Xiao handed the vouchers to them and then left.
Shi Rui felt a small sense of loss as she watched her depart. She wouldn’t be able to return the clothes to her now.
After the training ended, the previously tight formations on the playground scattered into loose groups. No matter where one walked, Luo Xiao’s name could be heard. Her popularity online had predictably skyrocketed to the top of the charts, trending with explosive “dark-red” heat.
“I think the person the Little Bunny added last night is 99.99% ‘Sister’,” Ming Qing said with 100% certainty as the four of them sat in the cafeteria waiting for food.
Rong An asked, “Then what about the 0.01% chance?”
Ming Qing took a lick of her popsicle and replied, “A ‘Sister’ from a parallel universe.”
She even swore that if that WeChat didn’t belong to Luo Xiao, she would only eat the popsicle sticks from now on.
Shi Rui’s ears twitched as she said worriedly, “Qingqing, isn’t that a bit of a high-stakes bet?”
“Definitely. Bunny, send her a WeChat now. Ask her if she’s still at S University.” Ming Qing wasn’t satisfied just saying it; she forced Rong An to switch seats so she could sit next to Shi Rui, leaning against her shoulder to give directions. “Come on, I’ll teach you. Just say: ‘Thank you, Sister, for coming to see me today. Are you still at S University? I’d like to treat you to a meal.'”
Shi Rui hesitated. “Would that disturb ‘Sister’s’ business?”
She had noticed that ‘Sister’ left from the back before the drill had even officially ended; she must have had something urgent to attend to.
“She came all the way here specifically to see you and spent so much money just to create a surprise for you. How could she possibly think you’re disturbing her?” Ming Qing poked right through the “window paper” between them.
Shi Rui hadn’t reacted yet. Perhaps she didn’t dare to believe such a thing would happen to her. She shook her head and whispered a rebuttal: “How could she be creating a surprise for me? The hostess said ‘Sister’ did it to reward this year’s freshmen.”
“There are so many schools and so many freshmen, why didn’t she reward anyone else but us?”
Ming Qing tapped her head with a “hopeless” expression and whispered, “I bet even if ‘Sister’ kissed you right on the mouth one day, you’d probably still say, ‘Sister didn’t want to kiss me, she just had a cold tongue and put it in my mouth to warm it up.'”
Across from them, Rong An and He Qianqian frowned and said, “Qing, your words are a bit crude today, huh?”
Ming Qing grinned and replied, “Crude is good; crude is durable.”
“Ah, Qingqing, you…” Shi Rui’s face was completely flushed. She reached out to cover Ming Qing’s mouth. “Keep your voice down!”
It was so embarrassing.
Ming Qing didn’t mind at all. She tapped the little bunny’s head and pretended to put on a stern face to lecture her: “Where else are you going to find a fan like me who helps you seduce her own idol? When you find one, you should cherish her like a treasure, yet here you are complaining that I talk too crude.”
“No, no!” Shi Rui hurriedly hugged her arm and acted spoiled. “Qingqing, you’re the best. I love Qingqing the most.”
As she spoke, she rubbed her fluffy ears against Ming Qing’s face, making Ming Qing squint her eyes in delight. “Good bunny, rub my neck a little too.”
Shi Rui gave an obedient “Mhm” and dutifully used her ears to scratch Ming Qing’s itch. Suddenly, the phone on the table buzzed. Upon opening it, she saw that Luo Xiao had actually messaged her first.
[Is it convenient to meet?]
Four heads crowded together instantly. Ming Qing was so excited she kept hitting Shi Rui, urging her: “Convenient, convenient! Ask Sister if it’s convenient for her. If not, she can come to our dorm; the three of us can head out.”
“Qingqing!” Shi Rui called out in a shy, chiding tone before replying to Luo Xiao.
[It is convenient! Where are you, Sister? I’ll come find you.]
[Across from you.]
As soon as those three words were sent, one of the four hearts stopped beating, while another started thumping wildly.
They all looked up in unison and saw a woman with long hair, wearing a short-sleeved utility jumpsuit and a baseball cap, sitting three tables away.
Wait—she had been sitting right across from them watching this whole time?
Ming Qing’s heart went cold. It was obvious Luo Xiao was interested in the little bunny, so what had she been doing just now?
Asking the bunny to rub her face?
Oh heavens!
Ming Qing buried her head behind Rong An and He Qianqian, only hoping she could squeeze out the words, “Sister, I’m your loyal fan,” before a fist flew her way.
Shi Rui blushed and pursed her lips, tucked her phone away, and silently mouthed to her roommates: I’m going over now.
“Go on, go on. We’ll head back to the dorm after we finish eating. Don’t go too far alone; it’s best not to leave campus. If you need a ride back, call us, and we’ll pick you up,” Rong An nagged, her motherly worries never-ending.
Even though Luo Xiao was a high-profile movie star, she was still an Alpha. They couldn’t feel entirely at ease letting the bunny go out with her alone.
The little bunny nodded to show she understood, then hopped over and sat down. “Sister, why did you come over today?”
“Wasn’t there a military drill today?” Luo Xiao asked back.
“Ah?” Shi Rui was stumped by the question.
Luo Xiao didn’t say anything more. Instead, she scanned the QR code on the table with her phone and handed it over. “Eat first.”
“Oh.” Shi Rui obediently held the phone to order, asking thoughtfully, “What would Sister like to eat?”
“Anything is fine.” Luo Xiao paused, and seeing the difficult look on Shi Rui’s face, added, “I’ll eat whatever you eat.”
Shi Rui understood now and happily ordered two vegetable salads and two cups of fruit yogurt.
Seeing this, Luo Xiao asked curiously, “Not ordering any alfalfa?”
The internet said young rabbits needed plenty of alfalfa for nutrition, and she had seen the little bunny eating it at the hay restaurant last time.
Shi Rui shook her head. “No, I just had some yesterday.”
She was an adult rabbit; she didn’t need to eat alfalfa every day.
“Mm.” Luo Xiao returned to her man-of-few-words style.
When the food arrived, Shi Rui ate very carefully and elegantly, terrified of leaving a bad impression. She would stop to wipe her mouth every two bites, and she even used a spoon for the yogurt.
The meal lasted quite a long time. By the time they finished, it was dark outside.
Shi Rui elegantly wiped her mouth, her eyes curving into crescents as she asked, “Sister, where are we going now?”
“I’m taking you back to your dorm,” Luo Xiao replied.
“Okay!”
Shi Rui was very happy. She stopped hopping and walked coyly beside her, looking like she wanted to glance at Luo Xiao but didn’t quite dare.
The distance from the cafeteria to the dorm entrance was very short—less than three minutes at a normal pace. She managed to stretch it out to seven minutes. Once at the gate, she was reluctant to go in, standing with her hands behind her back and drawing circles on the ground with her toe.
Luo Xiao stayed by her side in silence.
Finally, unable to stall any longer, Shi Rui said tentatively, “Sister, then I’ll… go back now?”
“Mm.” Luo Xiao’s tone was flat. Shi Rui felt a bit disappointed, but just as she was about to leave, she heard her say, “Wait a moment.”
She then saw Luo Xiao pull an exquisite, small box from her pocket. “This is for you.”
“What is it?”
Shi Rui asked curiously. She took it and opened it, finding a delicate and small rabbit-shaped hairclip lying inside.
“Why is Sister suddenly giving me this?” The little bunny was a bit flustered.
Luo Xiao’s reaction was plain, saying casually, “You performed the best today. I think you deserved a perfect score.”
“Ah? Not really.” Being praised so suddenly made the little bunny shy. Her ears wobbled as she closed the box and whispered, “Then, thank you, Sister.”
In truth, she felt a bit guilty because she hadn’t prepared a gift for Sister, and she had even stained Sister’s clothes yesterday.
Speaking of clothes!
Shi Rui said urgently, “I’m sorry, Sister! I forgot to bring your clothes down. Could you wait for me here? I’ll run upstairs and get them for you. I run very fast.”
“No need. I’ll be around here lately, so there will be other chances,” Luo Xiao said, glancing toward the dorm gate. “It’s late. Go on inside.”
Since she put it that way, Shi Rui didn’t insist. She waved obediently. “Then, bye-bye, Sister.”
“Mm.” Luo Xiao nodded, not saying another word.
Shi Rui gathered her courage to meet her eyes. Her face flushed instantly. She pursed her lips and squeezed out a sentence with great effort: “Sister, I’m so happy today.”
After saying that, she clutched the gift tightly, turned around, and ran off. Luo Xiao stood there, watching her silhouette disappear into the night.
It was almost curfew. Shi Rui hopped back quickly. Without paying attention, she stumbled upon a young couple kissing in a corner.
The Alpha was walking the Omega back. Not content with just reaching the main gate, he had walked her all the way to the foot of the dorm building, and they were currently acting inseparable.
The Omega was so embarrassed upon seeing someone arrive that she buried her head in the Alpha’s chest and refused to look up.
Shi Rui’s ears shot up in fright. She whispered a red-faced apology and bolted into the Omega Dorm Building 3.
