The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 3
Smells so good, hehe.
Shi Rui and her Mommy waited for about another hour. When her Mama and younger female cousin arrived, a table finally opened up for them to enter.
They ordered a large pot of Timothy hay, a small glass of fresh-squeezed carrot juice, and a platter of fruit cut into small pieces.
Shi Mommy also ordered a separate portion of alfalfa for Shi Rui.
An extra treat for the baby bunny.
Most of the patrons in this shop were herbivores, the majority being rabbits. Shi Rui could accurately identify her own kind at a single glance, but as for the silent woman sitting nearby…
Sorry, she really couldn’t tell.
An hour and a half later, lunch was coming to an end. Shi Rui finished the last sip of her carrot juice, wiped her mouth, and tucked her arms into her Mommy’s and Mama’s to leave. As she passed the woman’s table, she noticed a large plate of cold-tossed Timothy hay in front of her, a small dish of alfalfa, and a glass of carrot juice, which the woman was savoring slowly and methodically.
So elegant, Shi Rui thought.
After paying and leaving the shop, the alley at the exit turned out to be a famous “internet celebrity” photo spot. Shi Rui wanted to take a picture with her family there, so they joined the queue.
The line moved quickly. After only ten minutes, it was their turn. Shi Rui handed her phone to the young lady waiting behind them and politely asked, “Could you please help us take a photo?”
“Sure,” the lady agreed readily. She took the phone and stood opposite them, her posture professional as she looked at the screen and directed them, “Sister and Mom, move a little bit more to the right.”
“Okay, I’m starting now!”
The shutter clicked. Just as Shi Rui was about to say thank you, she heard the lady say, “Don’t move! I’ll take a panoramic shot for you; the background here is particularly beautiful.”
Hearing this, Shi Rui immediately grabbed her Mommy’s hand with her left and hooked her Mama’s arm with her right, not daring to move. Her cousin leaned on her shoulder, smiling beautifully, afraid of being caught making a face.
“Alright, here we go!”
As the shutter clicked again, a faint figure drifted into the frame.
“Oh no, I caught someone else in the shot.”
The lady felt a bit discouraged, but Shi Rui hurried over to look at the phone. She found that the “someone else” was just a blur of a pale green shadow. It didn’t matter; because it was out of focus, the shadow looked strangely harmonious in the photo, adding a sense of atmosphere rather than being intrusive.
Not wanting to delay others, they moved out of the way. After thanking the lady, they helped take photos of her and her girlfriend, gave them some small snacks, and then headed back to school.
“Military training starts tomorrow. Take good care of yourself, Xiao Rui.”
At the school gate, Shi Mommy gave her instructions reluctantly, her eyes red. She was truly worried.
Shi Rui flicked her ears and whimpered in her Mommy’s arms for a while, comforting her: “Don’t worry, Mommy. I’m an adult—an adult bunny. I can take care of myself. You guys play around the area for a couple of days and then head home.”
On the side, Chu Mama stepped forward to hug her wife, whispering soft words to soothe her. Then, she looked up at Shi Rui and said, “Call Mama if anything happens.”
The younger cousin didn’t say a word; she just pouted with teary eyes, clinging tightly to Shi Mommy’s leg and burying her face in her pants to wipe away tears.
Knowing that the longer they stayed, the harder it would be to leave, Shi Mommy forced herself to say, “Alright, hurry back to school. We’re going.”
With that, she turned and left.
Shi Rui stood at the school gate motionless, her large eyes misty and her nose red, looking pitiful with her lips pursed.
Only after their silhouettes disappeared did she wipe her tears and head toward the dormitory.
The little Siamese cat Rong An and the little lamb Ming Qing had already arrived. After Shi Rui went inside and greeted them, her eyes suddenly lit up. She pointed at the dress Ming Qing had just bought and asked in surprise, “That one! I know it!”
“Pretty, right? This is the same style Luo Xiao wears,” Ming Qing said, spreading the dress out and spinning around. Shi Rui, Rong An, and He Qianqian immediately gathered around, urging her, “Quick, put it on so we can see!”
Ming Qing didn’t delay, taking the dress into her room to change. When she came out, she posed with one hand on her hip and flipped her hair, asking, “Does it look good?”
“It looks great!” The three were a very supportive audience and took many photos of her.
Ming Qing smiled, holding her hem as she turned. “When Luo Xiao comes here, I’m going to wear this dress to see her.”
“Yes, yes!” The three continued to agree enthusiastically.
“Huh?” Suddenly, Shi Rui’s ears popped up. Her eyes widened as she asked excitedly, “What did you just say?”
“Luo Xiao! She suddenly announced yesterday that she’s coming here to film. Didn’t you guys know?”
Ming Qing was an old fan and knew Luo Xiao’s itinerary inside out. Since she had just happened to buy the same dress, it felt like fate.
“I also bought a lot of makeup. I have to put on a beautiful face to go see her.”
Hearing this, Shi Rui was full of anticipation. “Qingqing, when you go, call me. I want to go see her too.”
She had only ever seen the Best Actress on a screen; she had never seen her in person. Shi Rui really wanted to see what she was like offline.
“Of course! Just follow me when the time comes. I’m an expert at grabbing good spots—I trained for it in my high school cafeteria.”
With that, Ming Qing turned and boasted to Rong An and He Qianqian, “I’ll see if I can get an autograph for each of you if I get the chance.”
“Wonderful!”
The Omegas laughed and chatted. In the evening, they went to the cafeteria for a meal before returning to the dorm to wash up and prepare for bed.
Military training started tomorrow; they needed to rest well and recharge.
S University’s military training lasted fifteen days with no rest days. There were six hours of training during the day plus two hours at night.
When the morning bugle sounded, Shi Rui climbed out of bed in a daze to wash up. She put on the uniform and used a pretty butterfly hair clip to secure the slightly oversized hat so it wouldn’t fall off mid-training.
“Xiao Rui, are you going to the cafeteria for breakfast?” Rong An called to her from outside the door. Since they were the only two bunnies in the room and shared similar eating habits, she came to check.
Shi Rui rubbed sunscreen into her arms, grabbed her phone, and walked out. “I’m going. Let’s go.”
She paused, looking at the little sea otter’s empty room, and asked, “Where’s Qianqian?”
“She went to the seafood cafeteria. She’ll go straight to the training ground after eating,” Ming Qing replied.
There were three training grounds in total. The Omega ground was the closest, right across from their dormitory; the seafood cafeteria was also nearby.
The Beta training ground was at the stadium near the South Gate—a twenty-minute walk. One could take the bus for one yuan, but most people chose to walk.
The Alphas, however, were on the hilltop furthest from the dorms. There was no shade, the walk was long, and the sun was intense.
Because most children of their age have just reached adulthood, they don’t yet have enough control over their pheromones. When they are exhausted from military training, they are likely to release pheromones unconsciously. If they were stationed next to the Omega square, trouble would surely break out.
Therefore, after the daytime training is over, there are two more hours of relaxation at night to calm the Alphas down.
Shi Rui and her two roommates bought breakfast at the cafeteria and walked toward the training ground while eating. The shadow of the sun was already visible at this hour; it was clear how hot it would be by noon.
“Today’s green grass dumplings are so delicious.” Ming Qing finished eating with a smacking sound. Shi Rui licked her lips enviously; she hadn’t managed to buy any.
I must wake up ten minutes earlier tomorrow to buy grass dumplings, she vowed secretly.
Shi Rui and her roommates were in the Third Squad. Since she and Ming Qing were a bit taller, they stood in the row behind Rong An and He Qianqian. While the squad was forming up, they could still huddle together and whisper a few words.
The instructor for the Third Squad was a Fox Omega, beautiful and gentle-tempered. She would specifically lead them to the shade of the trees for training. Consequently, everyone liked to gather around her to chat during free time, and a full day of military training didn’t feel very tiring.
A few days later, the little Omegas had all learned how to slack off, and the Fox instructor turned a blind eye, indulging them.
“Xiao Rui, after training is over, let’s go to that newly opened shop outside the school gate to buy some snacks. I’m so hungry.” Rong An spoke with her back to Shi Rui. Once the Fox instructor had walked far enough away, Shi Rui whispered back, “Mm-hmm.”
At 8:00 PM, the full day of training ended. He Qianqian wanted to go back to the dorm for a soak in the tub and wouldn’t be joining them; Ming Qing had to go back to edit a video for Luo Xiao and wasn’t going the same way. In the end, it was just the two little bunnies going together.
On the way, they met a Beta who came over to ask for Shi Rui’s contact information, saying it was on behalf of an Alpha up on the mountain.
Shi Rui had been encountering things like this often lately. She was cute and had a good personality; even after so much military training, her skin remained fair and tender, and her eyes were large and bright. Many people liked her, but she never agreed to anyone.
This time was no different; she politely declined and pulled Rong An away.
Rong An loved snacks intensely. She had bought an entire suitcase full just last week, and they were gone in less than a week—and that was under the restricted schedule of military training.
Shi Rui pushed the small cart and accompanied her. Seeing her stop, Shi Rui leaned against the shopping cart, tilted her head, and asked, “Rongrong, if we buy too much, how are we going to carry it back later?”
“We’ll be fine; I’m strong.” As Rong An spoke, she picked up two boxes of vegetable crackers and tossed them into the cart, only for Shi Rui to quickly scoop them back out. “Rongrong, you already grabbed these vegetable crackers.”
Rong An looked back, took the crackers from her hand, and put them back in the cart, replying with a grin, “These are different; the manufacturer is different.”
Shi Rui felt helpless and could only lean on the cart staring blankly, thinking that Rongrong must have been restricted too strictly from snacks in high school, which is why she was buying so freely now that she was in college.
After checking out at the supermarket, the two little ones each held one side of the shopping bag while the other hand held a small cup of milk tea as they walked forward with difficulty.
As long as they crossed this overpass and entered the school gate, they could take the campus shuttle.
“Keep going, Rongrong, we’re almost there.” Shi Rui gritted her teeth, shouting “One, two, three,” and then she and Rong An sprinted forward a few steps in one breath, finally entering the school gate.
Exhausted—they were completely worn out.
The two little ones caught their breath, lifted the bags again, and boarded the campus shuttle one after the other.
There was an empty seat in the front row, so Shi Rui let Rong An sit first. After placing the snacks next to her, she went to the back to find a seat for herself.
Fortunately, there was a window seat in the second-to-last row, but a woman wearing a mask was sitting next to it. She seemed to be sleeping.
The woman had long black hair and wore a thin, cicada-wing-like dark green jacket. Under the glow of the passing streetlights, it shimmered like ripples on water, looking beautiful. It seemed as though the ends of her hair had caught the same color, exuding a cool sensation that made one hesitant to touch.
Shi Rui stared blankly until the driver slammed on the brakes to pick up more passengers, snapping her back to reality. She took a deep breath, walked over, and carefully tapped the woman on the shoulder.
“Sister, could I…”
Before she could finish, the woman slowly opened her eyes, and the little bunny’s heart skipped a beat.
A pair of deep, clear green eyes—one look felt like being swept into the bottom of a boundless lake.
Shi Rui’s face slowly turned pink. She lowered her head and pointed to the empty inner seat with her finger, asking softly, “May I sit in that seat?”
The woman didn’t respond but simply stood up to let her in, then lowered her gaze to look at her steadily.
The little bunny scurried into the seat and sat down, staring blankly out the window, pretending to be very calm. Her two furry rabbit ears had popped out at some point and were currently swaying in the breeze.
The shuttle naturally passed by the water lily pond on the way to the dormitory. Pink and white petals were dotted among the lily pads, looking like a Monet painting brought to life.
Shi Rui opened the window and leaned against the edge to sniff the wind, trying to find a trace of floral fragrance. Suddenly, she heard a faint, calm voice from beside her: “Don’t stick your head out of the window, little rabbit.”
“Ugh.” Shi Rui felt awkward, and her ears wilted. Blushing, she slowly pulled her head back, clutched her milk tea, placed her hands on her lap, and sat properly. She stole a glance at the person beside her and whispered back, “Oh.”
They arrived at the dormitory entrance. The driver slammed on the brakes again. Shi Rui was unprepared, and her body lurched forward by inertia. Just as she was about to crash straight into the back of the seat in front of her, the woman’s hand moved faster than the pain and cushioned her forehead.
And it smelled so good.
“Thank you, Sister.”
Shi Rui thanked her quickly, but when she looked up, she realized she had caused trouble!
The lid of her milk tea had fallen off during the impact, and the remaining half was splashed almost entirely over the woman’s jacket.
“I’m so sorry, Sister!” Shi Rui tried to fix it, quickly pulling a pack of tissues from her military training pants pocket to help her wipe it, but no matter how she wiped, it wouldn’t come clean.
The woman didn’t speak the whole time; she just quietly looked down at the hands moving all over her clothes, then slowly looked up at the little bunny’s delicate and cute features, which were scrunched together in a look of great anxiety.
“It’s okay,” the woman said softly.
The little bunny blinked while clutching the tissue, looked up, and apologized sincerely: “I’m sorry, Sister! I—I’ll wash the clothes for you. I’ll definitely take them to the best dry cleaner to get them cleaned.”
The sister’s clothes looked very expensive. Shi Rui bit her lip, silently calculating her little savings in her heart.
The woman didn’t speak for a moment, looking silently at the person in front of her for a long while before her eyes curved slightly. She replied in a gentle tone, “No need.”
Upon hearing this, Shi Rui looked up sharply with a face full of determination, shaking her head as she said, “No, it was my fault. If you’re worried, let’s add each other on WeChat. You can take it to be washed yourself, and I’ll transfer the money to you.”
The way Shi Rui insisted on taking responsibility was very cute. The corners of the woman’s mouth under the mask curled up slightly, and she said in a pleasant voice, “No need. It’s not something valuable; it can just be washed with water.”
After saying that, she slowly took out her phone, seemingly casually opened her WeChat QR code, and said, “Add me on WeChat. You take it back and wash it for me; I’ll come to get it once it’s clean.”
Huh?
“Oh.”
Shi Rui didn’t react for a moment, then dazed, she pulled her phone out of her pocket to scan the QR code. She put her phone away and said obediently, “I will definitely wash it clean for you, Sister.”
“Okay.” The woman’s voice was cold and flat. She stared at her phone until she saw a friend request pop up with a rabbit avatar, then she put her phone down and replied, “It’s okay, just wash it however.”
With that, she took off her jacket, lifted it, and tossed it lightly into the little bunny’s arms.
The bus window was wide open. As the wind blew, the lightweight jacket drifted from its original path and slid gently past the tip of Shi Rui’s nose.
It smelled so good.
The little bunny instinctively nuzzled it with her nose, wanting to smell it again.
The milk tea scent is so fragrant, hehe.
