The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 13
I Don’t Date, I Only Marry
Shi Rui rushed downstairs in a frantic hurry and immediately spotted the small car parked under the tree.
The surrounding scenery seemed to lose its color, leaving only that single splash of green.
Her heart pounded. Tucking away her shyness, she approached step by step. Standing by the car door, she took a deep breath before opening it and sitting in the passenger seat.
As soon as she closed the door, a faint, lingering scent wafted through the interior. It smelled like…
The scent of the ocean?
Luo Xiao was wearing long sleeves and trousers, and she was still wearing gloves. Seeing this, Shi Rui’s heart stirred, and she hurriedly asked, “Sister, are you…”
Before she could say the words “rut period,” Luo Xiao turned to look at her. Her gaze was deep, and her voice was soft yet carried an air of pressure: “Are you going out to play?”
“Yes,” Shi Rui replied hesitantly.
“Going out with an Alpha?”
“Uh…” Shi Rui didn’t give a direct answer. She wasn’t entirely sure what Qingqing’s purpose was in having her say that, so she didn’t dare give a definitive response for fear of messing things up.
Luo Xiao looked somewhat exhausted. She tapped her fingers on the steering wheel, and after thinking for a moment, she spoke again with a hint of reluctance: “Do you… have an Alpha you like?”
As soon as she spoke, Shi Rui jerked her head up. Her large eyes stared fixedly at the person in front of her. Her face flushed bright red as she replied forcefully, “I do!”
“Is the Alpha you like going to Mount Chiqing with you?” Luo Xiao asked, sounding a bit tense.
Shi Rui denied it. “No, I haven’t asked her face-to-face yet.”
Hearing this, Luo Xiao breathed a sigh of relief. A faint smile touched the corners of her mouth, and her tone softened as she asked, “Do you want her to go to Mount Chiqing with you?”
There was a faint trace of expectation in her words.
This time, Shi Rui didn’t hesitate at all and nodded vigorously.
“Why go to Mount Chiqing?” Luo Xiao’s mood seemed to improve slightly as she asked.
Shi Rui shook her head, not quite sure herself. She replied in a small voice, “I don’t know. I just feel like I should go to Mount Chiqing.”
After saying that, she immediately looked up at the person beside her and asked, “Are you… going? Sister.”
“I have work.” Luo Xiao’s gaze never left her. After a long silence, she gave in and began to instruct her on several precautions. “There are many poisonous insects on Mount Chiqing; it’s inconvenient to wear a dress. Also, the mountain is very high, so you need to prepare a pair of hiking boots. The temperature drops at night, likely around 18°C, so you’ll need a thick jacket. Also, the river water isn’t clean anymore—don’t drink it…”
After finishing her nagging instructions, she noticed Shi Rui’s dress was crooked. She reached out to adjust it, but Shi Rui noticed and immediately covered her chest, saying loudly with a red face, “You can’t.”
Luo Xiao seemed to snap out of a trance. Her eyes filled with deep disappointment. Just as she was about to withdraw her hand with a sigh, Shi Rui grabbed it.
“On—only a girlfriend can do that.”
Shi Rui spoke very slowly, her entire body flushed red. The words felt like water-soaked cotton—so shy that even a light touch would make them drip.
Even after saying it, she didn’t let go, holding Luo Xiao’s hand firmly.
A subtle change appeared on Luo Xiao’s face, but it vanished quickly. She then pulled her hand away and calmly and gently adjusted the crooked dress for her.
The leather glove pressed lightly against the edge of the tube top, indenting the delicate skin into the shape of a finger.
Luo Xiao didn’t hesitate; she hooked the fabric and tugged it to the side until it looked straight before letting go. The elastic edge of the top snapped back with a thwack.
Shi Rui turned beet-red from the sensation and immediately clutched her chest. Her mind couldn’t remember a single thing from the long list of instructions her “Sister” had just given; she only felt that the rambling voice had been incredibly pleasant to hear.
Once she calmed her nervous and excited heart, Shi Rui remembered what she was truly concerned about. She frowned and looked at the other woman’s hands, asking curiously, “Sister, why are you wearing gloves?”
“It’s nothing. My rut period has arrived,” Luo Xiao replied calmly. Aside from the occasional emotional fluctuations during their conversation, one really couldn’t tell she was in the middle of a rut.
Shi Rui immediately became anxious. Her ears perked up straight as she asked uneasily, “Why are you out during your rut? Isn’t it uncomfortable? No, wait—don’t you have rut leave? Why do you still have to work?”
“It doesn’t matter. I used suppressants.” Luo Xiao’s reply carried a sense of detached indifference, which made Shi Rui even more uneasy. She couldn’t help but pull a stern face and advise, “You need to rest more during your rut. Suppressants aren’t good for you.”
Luo Xiao sighed and let out a lonely smile, saying in a pitiful tone, “I’m alone, so I can only use suppressants. It’s fine. I’ve used them for a thousand years; it feels alright.”
A thousand years…
Shi Rui’s heart ached sharply. Just as she was about to say something, the other woman beat her to it.
“Can you protect yourself at Mount Chiqing?” Luo Xiao’s expression was very serious, as if they were discussing a major matter.
“Uh.” Shi Rui nodded. “I can. My mom taught me many things since I was little. She even taught me Rabbit Boxing and Earth-Tunneling techniques. I’ll be fine.”
After saying that, she added with a red face, “I can protect myself. Don’t… don’t worry.”
Earth-Tunneling techniques…
Luo Xiao leaned back against the seat and slowly let out a breath, her thoughts beginning to drift far away.
“Look, Sister, I’ve learned how to dig a hole!”
The little rabbit lay on the ground, pointing at a tiny dirt pit—not even as large as one of a Blue Dragon’s claws—bragging endlessly.
Beside her, the massive Blue Dragon shot a lazy glance at the small pit, then looked at the little rabbit who had gotten herself all filthy just to dig it. Heartaching with affection, the Dragon lowered her head, picked the rabbit up in her mouth, and headed toward the river.
After washing the little rabbit clean and placing her on a riverside rock to dry, the Dragon watched her perform—
The Dragon raised a claw and slapped it down; the resulting crater was as large as could be.
The Blue Dragon tossed her head proudly and said, “Don’t dig anymore. Whatever kind of pit you want, I’ll dig it for you.”
The little rabbit stood up and clapped enthusiastically, cheering that her Sister was the best. Then, she hopped over, hugged the Dragon’s claw, and rubbed against it with deep attachment.
A fuzzy sensation brushed against her arm—familiar, yet somewhat foreign.
Luo Xiao’s eyes shimmered with a layer of mist. She turned to look at the person beside her and realized the girl was using her rabbit ears to poke at her, bit by bit.
It was like a greeting, yet also like acting spoiled.
What did this kind of nuzzling mean?
They had been apart for too long; she couldn’t quite remember.
“Little Bunny…”
Shi Rui’s act of rubbing her ears against her Sister was entirely unconscious. She had just suddenly sensed that her Sister was very sad and habitually tried to coax her this way. It was only after she reacted that she realized she didn’t know why she had done it.
“What is it, Sister?”
Luo Xiao stared at her mouth for a long time, then forced herself to turn away. Her voice was slightly hoarse as she replied, “It’s nothing. It’s getting late; you should head back.”
She was issuing an eviction notice, even starting the car to prepare to leave.
Shi Rui was like a flower in full bloom that suddenly withered. She asked listlessly, “Why?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, a wave of grievance surged in her heart. She questioned in a small voice, “You barely replied to my messages the past few days. You called me down tonight, said a bunch of mysterious things, and even wanted to fix my clothes… I told you only a girlfriend can do that, and now you’re pushing me away again…”
As she spoke, tears began to pitter-patter down. She was terrified that the “Sister” she longed for was actually a “scumbag.”
The moment Luo Xiao saw her cry, she was utterly defeated. Maturity and logic were tossed to the wind as she immediately leaned over and pulled the girl into her arms, constantly brainwashing herself:
It’s just because of the rut; it’s normal that I can’t control myself.
“Little Bunny, don’t cry,” Luo Xiao indulged herself. Her voice carried a fatal seduction. “I don’t date; I only marry.”
She thought Qi Ran was right. After being soaked in a thousand years of longing, she had gone mad. Her love had fermented into something sour and sharp.
In short, she wasn’t quite normal.
Shi Rui was stunned. Leaning against the other’s shoulder, only her two red eyes were visible. Due to physiological reflex, a few more tears fell, splashing onto Luo Xiao’s clothes.
She thought about it, then opened her mouth to gently bite down on Luo Xiao’s clothing, letting out a soft, sweet “Mhm.”
Luo Xiao’s heart surged like a violent ocean wave because of that single, light note.
If her own words were an ocean tempting people to enter, then Shi Rui was the sailor who stepped onto the deck of her own free will.
In truth, there was no such thing as “temptation”—only the “captive’s” willingness.
If Shi Rui were unwilling, Luo Xiao could sacrifice treasures of celestial prices and it would be to no avail.
Luo Xiao’s body trembled as she held her long-lost lover tightly. With a slight choke in her voice, she said, “Aren’t you afraid I’m lying to you?”
Shi Rui shook her head, her rabbit ears swaying with the movement. Her voice was very, very soft, yet her tone was firm: “At least in this moment, I am not afraid.”
She thought Qingqing was right—she really was a typical “love-brain.” The moment she saw Luo Xiao, she wanted to rush in regardless of the consequences.
“I won’t lie to you.” Luo Xiao stroked her head, and a kiss landed softly on her hair without disturbing the girl in her arms. Then, she let go. “Alright, go back to the dorm. Don’t you have to go out tomorrow?”
Shi Rui was reluctant to leave the embrace. She leaned back in to nuzzle her, her eyes sparkling as she acted spoiled: “I don’t have to go tomorrow.”
“Then what do you want to do?” Luo Xiao looked at the little rabbit who was practically rolling around in her arms; her heart, which had been empty for so long, was finally filled.
“I want…” Shi Rui rested her head on the crook of the other’s arm, looking up with one eye in a mischievous grin. She smiled and said, “I want you to hug me again.”
Luo Xiao didn’t move, instead teasing her, “Next time, you can just say it directly.”
Shi Rui’s face reddened as she shrunk back into the embrace, muttering softly, “I’m young and thin-skinned; I’m embarrassed.”
After saying that, she burrowed harder into the embrace, like a rabbit digging a hole.
It was strange. Even though this was the first time she had leaned into her Sister’s arms, she felt a mysterious sense of warmth and… familiarity.
She even knew exactly which angle was the most comfortable and could find it with precision.
How strange.
Could this be the legendary “fated connection”?
A fate destined from a past life?
