The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 11
She said move, didn’t you hear her?
It was late at night, and the group still hadn’t figured anything out.
“Alright, let’s sleep. It’s almost two in the morning,” Ming Qing yawned, turning back to her room.
Shi Rui also turned off the lights and climbed into bed. Pulling the quilt up to her chin, she checked her phone.
Sister, I’m back at the dorm. Are you home yet?
There was no reply.
After thinking for a moment, she tapped the keyboard again: Sister, I’m getting ready for bed. Goodnight!
She waited a while longer, but there was still no response.
Shi Rui closed her eyes to sleep, but feeling a bit unwilling to give up, she sent another message: I had a great time tonight. The roasted sweet potato was delicious, thank you.
Sister, I will find the answer to that question of yours.
Sister, I… I’m also really looking forward to our next date going smoothly.
She couldn’t help herself and sent two more messages in a row before putting her phone down, eventually drifting into a forced sleep under the covers.
Outside the window, a dragon’s eyes were wide open.
Why did the lights go out? Why can’t I see anything anymore?
Agitated, she moved to stand up and fly over, wanting to be closer to her “wife,” but as soon as she lifted her head, she felt a piercing pain in her neck.
Qi Ran injected the suppressant without hesitation. Removing the cigarette from her mouth with one hand, she slowly pushed the plunger with the other.
Watching Luo Xiao faint in a daze, Qi Ran put away the syringe, flicked her ashes, and scooped up the curled-up dragon with one hand, coiling it around herself before turning to leave.
“Honestly, risking your life just to chase a girl.”
There were classes on Monday morning. The four of them had stayed up late the night before, so when they woke up, they were all sluggish and bedraggled. Giving up on their appearance, they simply threw on hats after washing up, grabbed their bags, and headed out.
Shi Rui took a moment to check her phone—still no response. She looked even more wilted than the other three.
The first class of the morning was English. Several classes from the Animation major were combined, so there were a lot of people.
Since they had woken up late and the cafeteria was too crowded, they decided to split up. Rong An and He Qianqian went to buy breakfast, while she and Ming Qing went to the classroom to save seats.
“Which classroom is this class in?”
“Let me check the schedule.”
Shi Rui opened her gallery and zoomed in on a photo, muttering, “It’s Building A, fifth floor…”
As they were walking and talking, two Alphas suddenly stood in front of them, blocking their path and casting a large shadow.
Shi Rui was looking at her phone and didn’t notice the situation at first. She instinctively moved to the right, but was blocked. She moved to the left, and was blocked again.
“Excuse me, please let us through.”
As soon as Shi Rui spoke, the person in front of her opened their mouth.
“Why won’t you add us, little rabbit?”
Shi Rui looked up to see two tall Alphas who practically towered over them.
Shi Rui finally put her phone away and looked at them properly. The two Alphas were quite beautiful—flashy and bright. One had permed wavy hair and bright red lips; she gave a slight smile and looked at Shi Rui, saying, “Can I have your contact info? I want to be friends.”
“What do you want?” Ming Qing immediately stepped forward, shielding the “little rabbit” behind her, looking ready for a fight.
Being so close, Shi Rui could smell the faint scent of pheromones coming off her—it smelled like green grass.
Omegas only release pheromones when they feel threatened; Ming Qing was protecting her.
“Don’t be nervous, we just want to make friends. No ill intent.” The two Alphas looked at Shi Rui hiding behind Ming Qing with beaming smiles, saying in a coaxing tone, “Is that okay?”
Shi Rui shook her head, patted Ming Qing’s shoulder to signal her to move aside, and then stepped forward to stand in front of them. With a cold face, she said, “I didn’t want to make friends in the first place, and now you’re intentionally blocking my path when I’m about to be late. Now I want to be your friend even less. Move.”
“Why so fierce, little rabbit? Won’t you give us any face at all?” The wavy-haired Alpha took another step forward, grinning as she reached out to tease Shi Rui. Unexpectedly, a hand wearing a black glove suddenly clamped onto her shoulder, followed immediately by a heart-piercing pain.
“Who is it?!”
She turned around angrily, only to see a pair of green slit pupils—eerie and fierce, like a violent surge of rage hidden beneath a calm lake, ready to swallow its prey at any moment.
“She said move, didn’t you hear her?” The voice was cold and sharp, as if the room had suddenly plunged into the dead of winter.
The wavy-haired Alpha didn’t want to lose face. Even though her shoulder hurt so much that her brows were tightly knit, she still grumbled dissatisfiedly, “Who are you? Why do you care so much?”
Seeing the stranger wearing a mask and a hat, she couldn’t help but mock, “Why are you all covered up? Do you have something shameful to hide? Or are you afraid I’ll remember your face and get revenge later?”
“Coward,” the wavy-haired Alpha said contemptuously.
Luo Xiao didn’t speak. Her gaze only grew colder and more ferocious. Green dragon scales began to flicker and manifest near her ears and down her neck, looking both exquisite and dangerously menacing.
“It hurts, let go!”
The wavy-haired Alpha finally couldn’t help but cry out. Her shoulder was being pressed down so hard she was sinking. Her companion tried to help, but seeing the woman’s fierce and cold expression, she shrank back in fear, pulling at her friend and whispering, “Just apologize and let’s go. We can’t afford to mess with her. Hurry up.”
The wavy-haired Alpha looked up at the person in front of her, still somewhat defiant, but eventually gritted her teeth and muttered, “I’m sorry.”
“Sist—”
Shi Rui started to speak but suddenly remembered something and forced herself to stop. Looking at the woman who seemed covered in shards of ice, she softly soothed, “Let her go.”
Otherwise, if this continued, “Sister” would definitely be recognized.
The woman obediently let go, looking down at the wavy-haired Alpha who was almost sitting on the ground. She tilted her head and gave her a look that signaled them to get lost. The two of them ran away without looking back.
Seeing this, Shi Rui immediately stepped forward and called out excitedly, “Sister!”
Then, in a worried tone, she added, “Why did you come here? Won’t what happened just now get filmed? Will it affect you?”
Noticing the dark circles under her sister’s eyes, she felt a pang of heartache and asked softly, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, don’t worry.” Luo Xiao’s voice carried a hint of exhaustion. As she spoke, she handed over the items in her hand—four servings of breakfast.
Shi Rui froze for a moment. After a brief second of confusion, she realized the food was meant for her. She took it hesitantly, and it was only then that her attention shifted to the fact that her “sister” was wearing gloves.
“Sister, you…”
Seeing that she had a firm grip on the bags, Luo Xiao jerked her hand back instantly to avoid any contact. She looked down, her expression turning indifferent as she said, “Go to class. I’ll be quite busy these next few days; I’m heading to a film set, so I might not be able to come see you often.”
“Oh, that’s okay, Sister. Work comes first.”
Shi Rui prepared to leave. There were too many people around and class was about to start, so she quickly pulled Ming Qing—who had been standing to the side—over to introduce her. “Sister, this is Ming Qing. I mentioned her to you before; she’s a huge fan of yours!”
Ming Qing greeted her nervously, “Hello, Sister.”
Luo Xiao’s eyes crinkled into a faint smile as she looked at Ming Qing, saying gently, “Thank you for protecting the little rabbit just now.”
Ming Qing actually blushed—a rare sight—and scratched her head with a loud laugh. “Of course, of course! It’s my duty to protect the little rabbit.”
“Mhm,” Luo Xiao acknowledged. Her gaze drifted back to Shi Rui. “Go to class now.”
“Okay.” Shi Rui looked at her lingeringly, but eventually pulled Ming Qing along as they hurried away.
After Shi Rui left, Luo Xiao didn’t leave immediately. She stood there silently, watching the girl’s back as it merged into the crowd and slowly vanished.
Her feet twitched; she felt an uncontrollable urge to step forward and grab the departing “rabbit.” The torment of her rut was making her mind hazy, and she almost charged forward to drag the girl back. Fortunately, a phone ringtone snapped her back to her senses just in time.
“Hello?” Qi Ran’s lazy voice came through. She sounded hoarse, as if she hadn’t slept yet. “Where did you go?” she asked groggily.
“Buying breakfast,” Luo Xiao replied naturally.
The voice on the other end woke up instantly. “Huh?”
Then, the volume spiked in disbelief. “The hotel doesn’t have breakfast? You had to go out and buy it?”
Luo Xiao stared in the direction where Shi Rui had disappeared and replied flatly, “She doesn’t live in a hotel.”
Qi Ran was stunned for a second, then let out an exasperated laugh. “If you get caught on camera again, I won’t be able to help you. I just finished cleaning up last night’s mess for you.”
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it,” Luo Xiao replied casually, seemingly indifferent.
“And you didn’t make physical contact when you gave her the breakfast, right?” Qi Ran’s voice suddenly turned serious.
Luo Xiao gave a soft “mhm.” “I wore gloves.”
“Good.” Qi Ran breathed a sigh of relief, her tone returning to a playful tease. “Just holding hands last night triggered your rut. If you touch her again, I don’t think even the Dragon-grade suppressants will work on you. You’d better take it easy; don’t scare the little rabbit.”
Luo Xiao frowned in displeasure. “You talk too much.”
Did she really need an outsider like Qi Ran to tell her how brave her own wife was?
She was about to hang up, but the other side seemed to have telepathy and yelled, “Don’t hang up! Don’t hang up!”
Thinking there was something important, Luo Xiao listened quietly.
“How can I not talk so much? I’ve worked with you for so long, and you used to barely say three words a day. It’s only since you found a wife that you’ve added two more words to your vocabulary. I’m bored to death! I have to talk to myself, otherwise, I’ll go crazy.”
Qi Ran kept babbling, but noticing the silence on the other end, she tested the waters with a “Hello?” only to be met by the dial tone.
She’d been hung up on again.
When Shi Rui and Ming Qing arrived at the classroom, it wasn’t very crowded yet. They picked a row in the middle and used their bags to save the two seats in front of them.
Rong An and He Qianqian arrived shortly after, carrying bags full of breakfast. “Eat up, eat up! It’s still hot.”
Then they noticed something was off. Looking at the paper bags on the table and the crumbs on the corners of Shi Rui and Ming Qing’s mouths, they asked curiously, “You guys already ate?”
“Yep,” Ming Qing replied while playing on her phone. “Little Rabbit’s girlfriend bought it. We tried calling you to tell you not to buy any more, but you didn’t pick up, and you didn’t check your messages.”
Hearing this, Rong An and He Qianqian pulled out their phones. Sure enough, there were unread messages.
“It was too crowded. We just grabbed it and ran, so we didn’t notice,” Rong An said. Shi Rui immediately took the breakfast from her hands. “It’s fine, give it to me. I’m not full yet.”
She then used her free hand to open the breakfast Luo Xiao had bought and pushed it toward her friends. “You guys try this too, it’s delicious.”
“Okay, it smells amazing.” Rong An chuckled and moved the food to her own desk to share with Qianqian.
Beside them, Ming Qing smiled to herself. She noticed that Shi Rui hadn’t even tried to correct her when she called the “Sister” her girlfriend.
How rare~
The professor for this course was named Ms. Wen, a Beta. She wore a white shirt and a beige long skirt, with her short hair slightly curled. She looked gentle and intellectual. Since she arrived early, everyone stopped eating and tucked their breakfast into their bags.
Though it was a long lecture, the teacher made it interesting, so time passed quickly.
Their next class wasn’t until 2:30 PM, leaving them with a large gap of free time. Having eaten their fill, the four weren’t in a rush to leave. They sat in the classroom; some doing homework, others on their phones.
“I want to get eyelash extensions,” Ming Qing said, looking at her phone. “I saw a place online that does a great job. I want ‘Super Invincible Electric Eyes’ to zap you all unconscious.”
Shi Rui put her phone away and leaned in curiously, grabbing Ming Qing’s arm. “Let me see, let me see!”
Ming Qing looked down at Shi Rui’s naturally thick, “baby-straight” lashes and said enviously, “You don’t need them. Yours are already beautiful.”
“But I want ‘Electric Eyes’ too.”
Shi Rui looked up at her and blinked. She also had someone she wanted to “zap”—she wanted to charm her “sister” on their next date.
Ming Qing, feeling the “current,” clutched her chest dramatically. “Oh my god, I’m dead! I’m tingling all over!”
In the front row, Rong An and He Qianqian turned around to look, but Shi Rui’s phone started buzzing incessantly.
“What are you doing? Chatting with the Sister?” Ming Qing asked.
Shi Rui shook her head. “No, I found a second-hand book seller online. I’m buying a set of history books and asking her to photograph the table of contents to make sure they’re genuine.”
“History books? Didn’t we look through those last night?” Ming Qing knew exactly what this was about. “That set of history books was practically falling apart from us flipping through it, and we didn’t find a single thing about ‘Dragons losing their wives.’ Buying another set won’t help.”
“It’s different,” Shi Rui argued softly. “This set is from fifty years ago. Maybe the set we looked at was a revised version?”
Rong An still felt it was a long shot. “That can’t be right. Why would a dragon’s wife die? I’ve never heard of such a thing. Little Rabbit, is it possible the Sister is just teasing you?”
“I think so too,” He Qianqian nodded vigorously in agreement.
Shi Rui paused, thinking it over, then nodded thoughtfully. “That makes sense…”
Suddenly, she slammed the table and shouted, “I’m going to look online and see if there are any official Dragon Tribe history books for sale!”
“Are you crazy?” Ming Qing asked bluntly.
