- The Abused Heroine Stops Pretending [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 8 - The Iconic Scene of Three
The other two teams were already prepared.
Tian Qi and Sun Sijia both smiled, but upon closer inspection, their expressions were visibly strained.
Luo Qi and Jian Anping, the two men, got along surprisingly well.
When the camera shifted to Tang Jin’s group, the audience erupted in excited screams.
[Ahhhh, I want to cozy up to the beauties too!]
[I want to cozy up to both of them!]
One was a striking, glamorous beauty with sharp features, while the other was a gentle, delicate Jiangnan-style beauty. Seeing the two of them side by side, everyone felt they had struck gold.
As the camera panned, Sun Sijia was also included in the frame, making it a shot of all three women.
The audience instantly caught on to the cameraman’s intentions and burst into laughter.
[Sun Sijia pales in comparison to her senior, it’s like a dimensional downgrade.]
Sun Sijia was actually quite pretty on her own, standing there as a beauty in her own right. But when compared to Tang Jing and Meng Xue, the gap became glaringly obvious, she could only be called a “minor beauty.”
The reason was simple: Tang Jing and Meng Xue exuded a radiant, commanding beauty that captivated attention no matter the occasion or outfit.
Sun Sijia, on the other hand, was more of a “small-town belle.”
[I feel like this moment could be one of the iconic scenes of the season.]
Three in one frame, who’s the odd one out?
[Sun Sijia really isn’t worthy of Tang Jing. Just thinking about how she rejected Tang Jing makes me indignant.]
[Tang Jing, stop liking her, take a look at Meng Xue beside you instead.]
Coincidentally, Tang Jing turned to Meng Xue at that moment, saying something to her.
The audience felt as though she had heard their thoughts.
Every time the camera cut to Tang Jing’s group, the barrage of comments exploded. The director had already planned to give Tang Jing more screen time due to her star power, but after seeing the audience’s enthusiastic response, they doubled down on it.
Tang Jing had her arm around Meng Xue’s shoulder, while Meng Xue held Tang Jing’s waist.
Meng Xue had only one thought: So slender. At one point, her fingers even brushed against what felt like the faint outline of abs, making her ears instantly flush red.
Once everyone was ready, the whistle blew, and the three teams set off.
Sun Sijia and Tian Qi kept making mistakes, and in the end, Tian Qi even tripped over Sun Sijia and fell.
Meanwhile, Luo Dong and Jian Anping chanted “One, two!” as they sprinted toward the finish line.
When the camera finally turned to Tang Jing’s team, the two moved forward in perfect sync, not needing any count at all.
With every step, their bodies brushed against each other, and by the time they reached the end, Meng Xue was lightly sweating.
Director: “The race is over. In first place is Team A, second is Team B, and third is Team C.”
Team A was Luo Dong and Jian Anping, the two men had moved swiftly.
Team B was Tang Jing and Meng Xue, trailing only half a meter behind.
As for the last team, naturally, it was Sun Sijia and Tian Qi. They had struggled from the start, stumbling every few steps, and only reached the finish line after the director announced the results.
By the time they arrived, the smiles on their faces were far from natural clearly forced.
[Hahahaha, what do I do? This is so awkward it’s hilarious.]
[As much as I dislike Sun Sijia, watching these two like this at least adds some comic relief.]
“Tang Ying and Meng Xue’s coordination was amazing. Just now, they walked in perfect sync, like they were on a runway.”
It has to be said, this competition ended quickly, but it gave the audience plenty to enjoy.
Once the competition was over, the results were announced, and the housing assignments were finalized.
Tang Jing’s team was assigned the second small bungalow with a courtyard.
Sun Sijia’s expression immediately darkened not for any other reason than the fact that the third house was in terrible condition. She couldn’t help but glance at Tang Jing, instinctively giving her that pitiful, pleading look.
The camera just happened to catch her.
“Damn, what’s this little green tea up to now?”
“Did she always use this trick to string Tang Ying along?”
“Ugh, this scheming woman makes me sick just looking at her.”
Tang Jing noticed her out of the corner of her eye but pretended not to see.
The audience interpreted her reaction in a completely different way.
“See, Tang Ying still has her pride. If she went running over right after being rejected, she’d just be a simp.”
“If Tang Ying had actually gone to her just now, I would’ve unfollowed her. I don’t want to stan a spineless goddess.”
“Tang Ying, if you can, just look at Meng Xue more. Seriously, she’s way more pleasing to the eye than Sun Sijia.”
“LMAO, this little green tea Sun Sijia always acts all hesitant when talking to Tang Ying. What, you wanna keep her on the hook while making her fawn over you?”
“Damn, I’m so curious now, what kind of spell did Sun Sijia cast on Tang Ying?”
After the housing assignments, there was no way the director would let them off easy.
“Now that your living arrangements are settled, next up is food and daily necessities,” the director said, his voice dripping with mischief.
As veteran guests of the show, Luo Dong and the others knew exactly what the director was up to.
Luo Dong asked, “Director, what do you want us to do this time?”
In the past two seasons, to earn points, they had to work in the fields, harvest vegetables, and sell them in town exhausting labor.
“This time, it’s a self-directed model. The more you earn, the better your food supplies. If you earn little, you’ll go hungry,” the director said with a grin, looking every bit the villain.
Tang Jing spoke up, “I remember there’s a small vegetable patch behind our house.”
The director wasn’t about to let them exploit a loophole. He coughed and said, “Those vegetables were planted by the villagers. If you want them, you’ll have to exchange points for them.”
Meng Xue asked, “Then where do we earn points?”
Director: “There are opportunities all over the village. You’ll have to find them yourselves. Complete the tasks, and you’ll get the corresponding points.”
Luo Dong: “So can we head out now?”
Without further ado, the director let them proceed on their own.
What set Diverse Life apart from other lifestyle shows was its lack of a script, everything was left to the guests’ improvisation.
Meng Xue said, “Teacher Tang, should we put our luggage in the house first?”
“Mm.”
They had already familiarized themselves with the layout during the earlier tour, so now, pushing their suitcases, they navigated with ease.
When they pushed open the courtyard gate, they were once again struck by how nice their house was.
They had only seen the courtyard earlier but hadn’t gone inside. Now, stepping in, they found two separate rooms perfect for one person each.
The two of them pushed their suitcases into the room, sat in the courtyard for a while, and then set off.
“Let’s go see where we can pick up tasks,” Tang Jing said, wearing a black baseball cap.
Coincidentally, Meng Xue was also wearing a white baseball cap, the same ones they had worn when they went to the supermarket together that day.
[Can I just say, these matching caps are so adorable!]
[Tang Jing and Meng Xue are such a perfect match.]
[Just seeing these two beauties standing together is a feast for the eyes.]
Now that they were divided into groups, the cameraman behind them was assigned to follow two people at a time.
“When we came over earlier, I think I saw a sign down that road,” Meng Xue said as they reached a fork in the path, pointing to another route.
Tang Jing glanced in that direction and indeed spotted a sign with the show’s logo.
“Let’s go check it out.”
It was almost noon, and the sun was getting intense. When they reached the sign, they read the task description.
“Feed the chicks?” Meng Xue was a little confused.
Tang Jing’s gaze had already landed on the chicken coop not far ahead. It wasn’t very big, holding about five or six tiny, bright yellow chicks, chirping away as they pecked at their food.
“Teacher Tang, do you know how to feed chickens?” Meng Xue had never encountered this kind of task before and was momentarily at a loss.
“Yeah,” Tang Jing walked toward the coop, with Meng Xue quickly following. “It’s really simple just put food and water in the trough.”
Meng Xue’s eyes lit up. She gathered the hem of her skirt and crouched down, gently stroking one of the chicks with her finger before looking up. “Let’s take this task. I just checked, it’s worth ten points, and we can do it once a day.”
A breeze lifted strands of her hair. When Tang Jing looked down, she met Meng Xue’s sparkling eyes and couldn’t help but be infected by her enthusiasm, a faint smile tugging at her lips. “Okay.”
The camera captured this picturesque moment, sending the audience into a frenzy.
“Senior!” Sun Sijia’s voice rang out from a distance, instantly shattering the serene scene.
[Ugh, Sun Sijia is everywhere.]
“Teacher Tang,” Sun Sijia greeted Tang Jing as she approached, then immediately turned her attention to the chicken coop. She crouched down excitedly. “These chicks are so cute!”
Tian Qi walked over and greeted them both. “Teacher Tang, Teacher Meng.”
“Have you found a task yet?” Meng Xue asked.
“Not yet,” Tian Qi glanced at Sun Sijia, already understanding why they hadn’t managed to find one.
Meanwhile, Sun Sijia was completely absorbed in the chicks, picking one up and turning around with a grin. “Senior, let’s take one back to raise!”
Meng Xue shook her head. “These chicks are being raised collectively, and feeding them earns us points.”
The sign was large enough that even if they didn’t mention it, others would notice.
Sun Sijia pouted, stroking the chick in her hands regretfully. “They’re just so adorable.”
[Sun Sijia seems so fake. Did anyone else notice her batting her eyes at Meng Xue just now?]
[Wait, seriously? Does she actually have feelings for her senior?]
Tang Jing lowered her gaze, watching Sun Sijia by the chicken coop, her thoughts unreadable.
But the audience could already guess what was going through her mind.
After all, the person she liked was right in front of her. Even though she had been rejected a few days ago, it was hard not to steal glances.
“Tang Jing is truly pitiable, to have encountered a little green tea like Sun Sijia.”
The barrage was filled with sympathy for Tang Jing, yet the latter’s lowered eyelids concealed a fleeting trace of irritation.
If not for the system’s rules, she would have snapped back when the other girl had just batted her eyes at Meng Xue.
Afraid that the longer she stayed, the more trouble this person would stir up, she turned and walked away. “Let’s go claim our points.”
To outsiders, it seemed as though Sun Sijia had only called out to her once the entire time, and now she was feeling a bit upset.
