- Chapter 19 - Qiqi's Eye Roll Was Perfect!
Tang Jing had been shutting Sun Sijia down at every turn, leaving her utterly frustrated. After returning to her room, she threw a tantrum in private.
With the camera covered and the door closed, no one knew what she was doing inside.
When Tian Qi returned from her tasks, she happened to see Sun Sijia stepping out of her room. The two exchanged glances but said nothing, each going about their own business.
Since their fallout on the first day, neither bothered pretending anymore they simply did their own thing.
The night air was pleasantly cool.
After dinner, Tang Jing and Meng Xue sat in the courtyard to relax, listening to white noise on their phones as they meditated with their eyes closed.
When Tian Qi came looking for them, she found them like this and waited quietly by the entrance without disturbing them.
Once Tang Jing and Meng Xue finished meditating and opened their eyes, they spotted Tian Qi standing at the door.
“Teacher Tang, Teacher Meng,” Tian Qi said as she stepped forward. “Brother Luo and the others have prepared a game and wanted to ask if you’d like to join.”
It was only 8 PM, too early for bed and with nothing else to do, plus the fact that they hadn’t had any group activities since filming began, it seemed like a good opportunity.
Meng Xue glanced at Tang Jing, who returned the look before they both nodded in agreement.
Luo Dong announced, “We’re playing ‘Don’t Get Mad’!”
From the moment Tang Jing and Meng Xue arrived, Sun Sijia’s gaze had been fixed on them. As they approached, she quickly stood up and planted herself in the middle of three connected chairs, forcing Tang Jing and Meng Xue to sit apart.
Sun Sijia’s reasoning was simple, she wanted to keep Tang Jing away from her beloved senior.
After Tang Jing’s earlier remark about having no interest in “sisters,” Sun Sijia was convinced that Tang Jing still hadn’t given up on her and was now using Meng Xue to make her jealous and insecure.
She couldn’t let that happen. She needed to find a chance to warn her senior to stay away from Tang Jing.
Tang Jing paused mid-step but quickly recovered, taking the seat to Sun Sijia’s left as if nothing was amiss.
With only one spot left, Meng Xue had no choice but to sit on Sun Sijia’s right.
The cameraman captured the entire scene, and viewers in the livestream were stunned by Sun Sijia’s shameless move.
[What the hell is this little green tea doing?]
[She was already seated, but then she switched spots and so conveniently placed herself between Tang Jing and Meng Xue?]
[Does she really think she’s hot enough to have both? One side offers endless resources, the other is her favorite senior.]
The internet never forgets. Netizens had already dug up a post Sun Sijia made five years ago, gushing about her senior, Meng Xue. Scrolling further back, they found that nearly every post though never explicitly naming Meng Xue was clearly about her.
Anyone could see she had feelings for her senior.
People admired her years-long devotion, but the problem was that while she played the loyal admirer, she also flirted with Tang Jing.
For five years, whether they met or not, whenever Tang Jing was mentioned, Sun Sijia, an actress with barely any notable work was inevitably dragged into the conversation.
Some even speculated that Sun Sijia had been pulling strings behind the scenes, deliberately tying herself to Tang Jing just to ride the coattails of the double-award-winning actress.
But Sun Sijia’s fans staunchly denied it, while their idol herself gave vague answers to the media each time, creating the impression that she wasn’t leeching off anyone’s fame.
This was precisely why people disliked her they found her hypocritical, pretentious, and fake.
As the live-stream audience flooded the chat with all sorts of guesses, Luo Dong began explaining the game rules: “The rules are simple. We’ll each wear a headband and draw a card to place on it. The person wearing the card can’t see what’s written on it, while the other guests can use any method temptation, trickery to get someone to do or say what’s on their card. If they fall for it, they lose and have to draw a new card. In the end, we’ll pick tonight’s winner.”
Luo Dong’s explanation was lengthy, and after some questions from Tang Jing and the others, the game officially began.
Sun Sijia held a card and turned to Meng Xue. “Senior, let me help you put yours on, and you can help me with mine.”
“No need, I can do it myself,” Meng Xue replied with a smile.
Sun Sijia then shifted her gaze to Tang Jing, who had just finished tying her headband. “Sister Tang, let me help you with your card,” she offered quickly.
Tang Jing glanced at her but said nothing, simply reaching back to stick the card on herself.
Sun Sijia’s smile stiffened, but she masked it by attaching her own card as if nothing had happened.
Tian Qi had noticed Sun Sijia the moment she entered with Teacher Tang her seat-switching was far too obvious. Even Luo Dong and the others had seen it.
But as veteran guests who had witnessed Sun Sijia’s two-faced behavior in the previous two seasons, they had silently agreed on one thing: unless absolutely necessary, they would avoid interacting with her.
This season, with Teacher Tang’s arrival, everyone had been tense. After all, Sun Sijia’s participation in the show was entirely thanks to Teacher Tang.
Now that her backer was here, they had expected the filming to be difficult.
Yet, to their surprise, Teacher Tang hadn’t engaged much with Sun Sijia if anything, she seemed to be keeping her distance.
The question was whether Sun Sijia had noticed.
But judging by how insistently she kept trying to cozy up, it was clear she hadn’t. Tian Qi watched with amusement, then turned to see Luo Dong and the others wearing equally entertained, gossipy expressions.
She nearly laughed but held it back for the cameras.
Once everyone was ready, the game began.
“Xiao Qi, was today’s mission tiring?” Luo Dong asked, glancing at the card on Tian Qi’s head.
Tian Qi smiled. “Luo Ge, that’s way too obvious.”
Luo Dong chuckled. “Just take it off.”
Confused, Tian Qi looked at the others, who all nodded.
As she removed her card, she said to Sun Sijia, “You should take yours off too.”
“Me? Why should I?” Sun Sijia’s expression darkened.
Luo Dong said, “You really should.”
The word on Tian Qi’s card was laugh.
Sun Sijia’s card read “nodding,” and when Tian Qi asked if they had taken the cards from their heads, she had nodded along with everyone else.
When she removed the card, although Sun Sijia was smiling, everyone could clearly sense something was off about her mood.
Yet, they all chose to ignore it.
Jian Anping said, “There’s a new movie out recently have you guys seen it?”
“Teacher Chen Song’s…” Luo Dong glanced at Meng Xue.
Meng Xue turned to Sun Sijia beside her, then leaned over to look at Tang Jing on Sun Sijia’s other side.
Tang Jing glanced at the card on her head and said, “Cloud Layer.”
Meng Xue turned back to Luo Dong and nodded.
Luo Dong: “…”
Jian Anping: “…”
Tian Qi wore the expression of someone who had just witnessed something sweet.
But Sun Sijia pointed at the card on Meng Xue’s forehead and exclaimed, “Ah, Senior, yours is” Only then did she belatedly realize everyone was staring at her, and her smile froze.
For a moment, no one could tell if she was genuinely clueless or just pretending.
Tian Qi couldn’t even hide her eye roll, which was caught on camera.
Instead of criticizing her, the audience praised her.
[That eye roll from Qiqi was perfect!]
[Qiqi is literally me.]
